This is a great Eugene bike shop! They have a good selection of equipment and very knowledgeable and helpful staff. I came in to check out one alt handlebar (Jones H Bar) and they had it in stock along with the other bar I was considering (Surley Moloko) so I got a good feel for both of them. They had a good price on both too. In a world of mega shops and online retailers, this is the kind of place really stands out, allowing the customer to check out equipment hands on and make better informed decisions. Edit to add: a couple things that this shop didn't have that made it a great place to shop; no high pressure, and no "hyper-masculine" attitude. I was able to look and check out items without someone peering over my shoulder, and a number of different folks came in and I noticed the staff was helpful to all of them. As to the lack of a hyper-masculine culture- well anyone who bikes a lot knows that biking, and bike shops tend to suffer from a certain culture- lots of talking of pace lines or peloton, shredding and scar comparison. They can also be dismissive of overweight and older people (such as myself) who might need, um... more robust equipment.... The staff treated this middle aged ultra Clyde as a serious rider which I really appreciated. This shop was very oriented to bikes as fun an and transportation, with gear that is useful to most people who want to get out and enjoy riding and commuting. They may have more specialized equipment as well but I wasn't looking for that and so can't speak to it. But if you are an avid rider looking for more comfortable handlebars or that perfect rack bag, they definitely are worth checking out. The disrespect that I saw dished out was not directed towards me but ruined the atmosphere for the seven respectful people in the business when it happened. A staff member who was offered help decided to insult the well-meaning person who offered to hold a ladder, as if the sincerely kind offer was an affront.... That staff member then proudly explained a long-standing desire to disrespect other people and how it brought that person far in life. This is a great shop for real, authentic customer service. I brought my bike in at 6:15 pm (they close at 7:00). I asked for their tune up rates bc I just needed a little shifter cable adjustment. They so kindly offered to assess my bike to determine if they could do the job real quick that night. About 20 minutes later I was on my way with a perfectly tuned bike. The charge was very fair and competitive and I could tell that their number one priority was to make a happy customer and to get me back on the road as quickly as possible. Finally to solidify the customer connection, the tech asked how much I ride. After I told her I was only riding maybe once a week but I wanted to more, she challenged me to keep track of each ride and try to top the number of times I expected to get out. Great shop, excellent customer service! Came in today with 2/3 of our kids, with a myriad of needs. First: staff here went out of there way to accommodate us and our super active 4 year old and 2 year old! One staff member even occupied our 4 year old so we could try to fit our youngest with a helmet. They also offered up some toys for them to play so we were able to shop. Second: several different staff members worked with us trying to get creative with our bikes to haul our kids around. Instead of just telling us nothing would work, they really took the time to find solutions, not all of which involved spending money at their shop! My go to local bike store. Eugene is spoiled with amazing Bike Stores. I will probably give many of them 3-4 Stars, but the reason I give Arriving my Bike, is because they care. The owners care about you if you get to know them. They want to help, and if they can't they will recommend where you can go and get service or what you need. Now when it comes to Cargo Bikes, this is the only place I would suggest looking, they have expert experience when it comes to this. The mechanics and store staff are amazing. I moved here not too long ago from San Francisco, and the bike shops in town have been mostly disappointing. This place, actually the closest to my house, is by far the best in town. I ride a vintage Italian steel bike, and this was the first place in town that knew anything about my frame, the main guy in the shop had even sold the same Guerciotti frames new in 1982. He was impressed, sad about the state my bike was in, and excited to work on it. I had a pretty big job done, I won't get into all the specifics, but most shops would have charged easily over $200. Not only did they do a ridiculous amount of work, including things I've had other shops flat out refuse to do (bending out my rear stays to install an 8 speed freewheel, etc.), but they did that work in about 3 hours, and it cost less than $90. I could have easily paid that much for the parts involved alone anywhere else. My bike is riding better than it has since it rolled out of the factory in Milan 30 years ago. Went in one day to ask questions about bikes. I told the person immediately that I wouldn't be making a purchase that day, was just getting information so I could decided what I wanted. A man there spent over a half hour showing me several models and explaining the pros and cons of each. I had to go, eventually, and thanked the man for his tireless patience and enthusiasm. He turned out to be the business owner! Although I didn't buy a bike there in the end (I ended up buying a used "starter" for my GF's first bike), I will gladly return when I'm ready to buy a higher quality product or need a repair. I bought a bike here about a month ago and it was a great experience. Normally dealing with a sales person for more than 5 minutes makes me anxious, but Austin was laid back, patient, and informative without being pushy/preachy. He helped me get a bike that was right for me in size, style and features, and he helped me pick out the accessories (helmet, lights) that I needed without upselling me at every turn. Prices here are decent but not super cheap. I bought my bike for about $10 less than the MSRP. However, the level of service and knowledge that the employees bring to the table definitely justifies the costs, in my opinion. The staff in this shop are super friendly and knowledgeable. They have a very wide variety of high-end bicycle accessories and components, and a separate show room downstairs. While this isn't a great shop for a novice cyclist or one looking for very basic gear, for the more discerning cyclist who is looking for upgrade or quality replacement parts they are more likely to have what you need than other cycling shops in Eugene. They have the widest variety of Brooks saddles and accessories in Eugene as well. I purchased my C17 Carved here and they agreed to install the saddle for free since it was an expensive purchase. They focus on having absolutely everything that a transportation cyclist might need: clothing, bags, racks, fenders, lights, in wide variety and high quality. I think then, that while the shop is a great shop, it is ultimately not a shop for everyone. They lack the relatively more inexpensive items that many lower-income cyclists rely on to keep their bikes on the road doing everything that they need their bike to do. read more

Maybe OK if you are a newbie looking for your first bike or a specialty item. Their service has gotten very sluggish. Used to be I'd come in and Mark would stop what he was doing to do a diagnosis and give me a reasonable time to expect work to be done. Now its "maybe in two weeks" (if you're lucky") for something as simple as replacing a broken spoke. Seems like the emphasis has shifted from prompt service to sales and building bikes for sale. This is not the first shop I'd take a repair to any more. So if you're riding a lot and need a fast repair, go elsewhere. read more

This is my second commendation for this wonderful shop in South Eugene. I started bringing my Hase Recumbent Trike here and they really know how to take care of it. It was klunking in the left hub for six months and they were able to remove the noise. It rides better now then when it was new!! Friendly, upbeat staff always immediately acknowledges a customer the moment they walk in the door; quickly assists for what you need; they don't push selling extra services or products beyond what you want/need; are very upfront on repair/service prices and very honest all around. I brought my old Schwinn in for a tune up, and Matt was so incredibly kind and helpful. He got the bike out of the truck for me. He said they were a week out. Arriving by Bike has always been very helpful when I've gone in. They let me return a headlight I'd bought there because it broke within 2 days of buying it, even though I didn't have the packaging. Another time, I bought the wrong tubes and carried them around in my panniers for a month, and they let me swap them out for no charge, even though the boxes were totally smooshed! Today I brought my bike in to see if they could figure out what was making a clicking noise. They put it up on the stand, diagnosed and fixed the problem for free in about 5 minutes. A friend of mine shipped a bike to me from New Jersey and after I put it together (I'm a novice which means I basically slapped the handle bars and pedals back on) there was still some play in the headset, so I brought it over to these guys who took care of the problem right away and noticed a couple of other things while they had it on the stand--wheel out of true and some play in the bottom bracket. They weren't up-selling me, just pointing things out. I left the bike with them a couple hours. They trued the wheel and took apart the BB to see what was going on and charged me $48 for everything they did, which I thought was more than reasonable. And as other reviewers remarked, there wasn't the slightest bit of pretense or snobbery. I have been in other shops in Eugene where this was not the case. I had been in here a few times buying clothes and small bits of gear and always got a good vibe. I picked up a road bike at an estate sale that I thought was a good deal, but am very inexperienced so wanted them to check it out, appraise it, see what it needed, and if it it even fit me. They exceeded my expectations. Helped me get fitted to the bike and get shoes, even showed me how to use them, as this is my first clip-in bike. Got the bike working for minimal repair costs. Gave me a wide range of options from super cheap to top of the line, and I never felt like they were pushing me to spend a lot of money. I also appreciated that they were not condescending with my lack of knowledge or experience, and they were very willing to help me out with a bike I did not even purchase from them. I had taken my bike in on several occasions and while they did a competent job and the price was comparable to other shops, but they nickel and dimed me to death. I bought a spendy pair of hand grips for my daughter and asked them to put them on her bike and they charged me an extra $5...and it took them less than a minute! Every little thing cost money, even though I was taking my bike there all the time to get if fixed (it was close to where I lived). The last straw was when I took my bike in and got new brakes. As I left, the brakes squeaked like crazy, but I was in a hurry, so I took it back the very next day. They tried several things, and finally just took a rag and wiped my rim and the squeaking stopped. Then they said they'd "only charge me $12". I said no way, that they should have fixed it when they put on the new brakes yesterday and had I taken it right back in, they would have done it for free. read more
