Chicken chimichanga
Tasha L.

We tried this place around 6 or 7 pm. on a Friday night, and it was empty. We ordered fajitas, a chicken chimichanga, a kids taco meal, and queso. The chimichanga and fajitas were good. The kids' taco was way too over seasoned to the point of being inedible. The queso really threw me off. I was expecting typical white queso with meat... but it was straight-up orange nacho cheese with more over seasoned meat. It honestly tasted exactly like chili cheese dip. Which is not even close to what we wanted. Regardless of the taco meat and queso, the food was okay, but I think we'll try other restaurants before we go back to this one.

Hot time on the town tonight I Had an amazing time tonight with the wife at the Ixtapa in Sultan. I had 2 chicken enchiladas and a Mexican coke. Delicious The wife had a margarita with her meal. You can't pass up a great spot line this on a Friday night.

I'm surprised this restaurant received low ratings. My fiance and I ate here today and it was fantastic! Seriously one of the best Mexican meals we've ever had and that's saying something considering we're both visiting from southern California where there's typically Mexican food on every corner. The chips and salsa was so good - you can tell the salsa is made in-house and the "heat" is perfect in my opinion, our meals were piping hot (which is a good thing) and flavorful , and our black margaritas were absolutely delicious; they didn't taste super syrupy or overly sweet like some places. Also, our waitresses were very kind and attentive! We give this place a 10/10 and will definitely be back.

Sultan, Washington. Wednesday 5'ish. Sorta rushed when extremely fast talking server approaches to take our order. But salsa was watery, for unknown reason. Good food, they do a lot of take out here. No prices on menu or drink menu.

Taco salad with margaritas

Overall: Okay The food was decent. Kind of bland but edible for sure. The waitress was nice and the food came out quickly. Complaints: The margaritas didn't taste like they had any tequila in them and they were the smallest I've ever received at a Mexican place. For 3 meals and 3 margaritas, the bill was $80. For not the best food or margaritas, I don't think it was worth it.

Not all Ixtapa restaurants are created equal.

My wife and I met a couple friends here for a drink before heading to another engagement. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. No cantina. No draft beer. No patrons aside from us seated. The chips were stale with a lingering burnt flavor. The salsa was bland. Bottles of Dos Equis were $4.25. Our server was rude and scarce. Tabs are split and paid at the front counter. We learned this after waiting 15 minutes for our tabs to be picked up from our table. I will not waste my time or money at this Ixtapa location again.

+1 star for making the extra effort to do take out and delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic. At least they are trying.

Gray/purple refried beans, looked even more grey in the restarting but my phone tried to color correct it a bit.

My sister and I went her for dinner. It's pretty difficult to find truly bad Mexican food, this place seems to specialize in it. The refried beans were...gray/purple, the meat was chewy an has some weird sweet flavor, the rice had lots of undercooked bits in it. The one mainstay staple of Mexican places is the salsa. This place had the most disappointing salsa I've tasted ever. It was bland and on top of that it was obviously mixed with extra water which made the texture very unpleasant. We ordered the hot salsa first and finding it inedible we ordered the mild...same problem, so we ordered pico de Gallo which had few tomatoes and 70% the less expensive chopped jalapeños, and also tasted like...steak? Why would fresh raw salsa taste like steak? Seems like potential cross contamination there. So we ordered the bean dip which ended up being a bowl filled with grey purple bean goop with a sprinkling of cheese and a pool of green sauce on top. It was also incredibly bland, but in addition I found a stray piece of cooked chicken in it. Pretty disgusted by this point. Then we got our main dishes...my sister got a quesadilla which showed up. Pretty undercooked without even browned tortillas (picture). I ordered fajitas which has very few (currently expensive) bell peppers and traded them out for mushy strips of tomato (picture). The beef in my fajitas looked like mixed cut scrap leftovers and the chicken felt rubbery, both were considerably bland. The tortillas were served in a cloth pouch that was spiked inside and out. When asked if it got cleaned the annoyed waitress said they were cleaned "a lot" but not every time. This means some gross a-hole with COVID-19 or a booger on his finger is touching the inside of this cloth pouch that is touching my tortillas (picture). There were crispy bits of other people's food on it (picture). Overall, I'd recommend eating at this place if you like spoiled bland food, food poisoning, rude waitstaff, or direct exposure to other customer's saliva.

The food was absolutely amazing. Chips were homemade and the salsa was perfection. We ordered the chorizo queso, asada tacos and tamales. You could tell the tortillas were homemade. Everything was fresh and delicious. We ordered the spicy margaritas and let me tell you, if you like a spicy marg this is top 3 I have ever had. And all that is great, but what made the whole experience the best was Alvaro. He was attentive, funny as heck, engaging, made each one of our drinks himself and he just lit up the whole place. Thank you Alvaro for being you! If you are around the area - you will not be disappointed by going here!

They were serving tables, clearing tables, dusting, just any activity besides seating us. We asked what the wait was going to be and they said "hold on." Meanwhile, they only had about 3 tables going and there were tons where they could have sat us. We finally got a table, but no service or even water for 30 min. I ordered a hibiscus marg and it was okay. I don't think it had alcohol in it. My friend got peach sangria, which ended up basically being Sunny D with grenadine. Her glass was cracked, so we asked if we could get a new one. Like 20 min later, we asked the server if her new drink was coming and he said no. He then gaslit us into thinking we broke the glass and would need to replace it. So weird. The food was fine. Very average. They aren't very flexible with substitutions and aren't aware of allergens. I got poblano shrimp and the sauce was watery and the beans tasted like lard. They forgot two of our dishes and got things really confused. When the bill came, we asked to see it because we were worried they would charge us for the meal they never brought out or the glass shard sangria. They said no LOL. We said we weren't comfortable paying without reviewing the items on the bill, and they had one of our group go behind the counter to look at it on the computer. Very odd. They really didn't know how to work their POS. We sat at a table next to a huge overflowing box of wires and cords. The whole aesthetic was really off, the servers were rude and unhelpful, and the food was like an even lower quality azteca/ixtapa. Not surprising for the location, but def not worth a stop.

I went with the machaca (tender shredded beef with eggs), and it was incredible, super tender, rich, and packed with flavor. We also shared the garlic parm wings, which were crispy and addictive, and the chips & guac were fresh and done right. Our kid had a quesadilla and loved it. One of the coolest touches was the kids menu! it's interactive and even teaches them how to count to 10 in Spanish, which is such a fun and thoughtful detail. Great food, welcoming vibe, and an awesome brunch experience all around. We'll definitely be back!

Monroe, Washington, April 2026…read more This colorful building is located on the main street in downtown Monroe. The minute you walk in you are greeted immediately. An older gentleman and a younger guy were quick to tell us we could sit wherever we wanted as it was a Sunday evening. Booths line the wall and there are about four tables in the middle of the restaurant. Very small, but very colorful and extremely friendly staff. We were quickly asked for a drink order and they brought chips and salsa. The chips were a perfect thin yet crunchy texture. The salsa was very flavorful. It had chunks of onions and lots of cilantro. However, I wish the salsa was spicier. We both ordered chicken and beef enchiladas à la crema. The presentation was nice and I'm so glad there was no lettuce decorating my plate. My whole beans came in a little tortilla cup but the rice lacked flavor. It taste more like a puréed risotto. The enchiladas were covered in the cream sauce that also had cheese. There was no flavor to the cream sauce and the chicken was extremely dry. I liked the flavor of the whole beans. They don't give you a full basket of chips when you sit down. So we asked for more as they were delicious. But then we received only a quarter of a basket this second time. They don't post prices of the soda or the drinks. When we inquired to see a bar menu, they said they had none that we could order anything we want. We asked the price of a particular drink and he said don't worry. When I receive my bill, my non alcoholic bottle of Heineken was $7.25. I think that is outrageous for a nonalcoholic beer. I will give this place three stars because the chicken was tough and dry. The cream sauce was boring and the salsa needs spice.

Fajita burrito. I cleaned the plate. Puerto grande. I wasn't expecting it to be good. I was expecting to be, you know, lame. But it was good. It's the only large room in Monroe, and it's decorated in bright colors. Our table was right on the lake, which happened to be flooded that week also. All things considered, this place has worked their way up to a five-star review.

The deck off the back of the restaurant was fantastic, I just wished anything would have matched that energy. We ordered 2 jalapeno Margaritas, and 2 "fresh natural" margaritas. They brought out chips and salsa and beans to us following our orders. The salsa I am not sure how it qualify as salsa. It was more like a can of stewed tomatoes. No spice, no flavor. The beans were the same. Plain, nothing to them. While fajitas had been walked by many times we opted not to get food. After letting the server know we were not ordering food, I believe the manager came over to ask if everything was ok. We were like yeah, we just came by for drinks. Both the server and the manager seemed annoyed after that. After receiving our drinks they were to be nice, just plain disappointing. Jalapeño margaritas are my drink of choice and this one fell well short of the mark. There were jalapeños in it, but there was zero spice and a very strong flavor of just the margarita mix. My wife enjoyed her fresh margarita, but upon receiving the bill the fresh margarita was a $4 add on for the fresh lime juice? $65 for 4 margaritas in pounder glasses. Maybe it's because they were not good that I find that as steep. Thanks Monroe El Paraiso, we won't be back. I wasn't going to bother to write a review, but when you get treated different for not ordering food, something is wrong with the establishment. Two stars just for the view

Finding edible Mexican food in Washington State is usually a quest more difficult than finding a…read moredry sidewalk in November. Most of the time, you're just paying for a lukewarm tortilla and a dream. Then I found Mi Tierra, and hope finally returned. First off, the ambiance is so authentic that I halfway expected a relative I've never met to walk out of the kitchen and ask why I haven't called. The place is decorated like a true Hacienda, and honestly, the décor does some heavy lifting--it's like the stucco walls and rustic charm trick your taste buds into believing you've just crossed the border, even if it's actually 40 degrees and raining outside. As for the food: it's spectacular. In a land where "spicy" often just means either "we added an extra grain of black pepper," or "we added uranium", Mi Tierra serves actual, authentic flavor. Whether it's the rich sauces or the well seasoned meats, eating here feels like a victory over the bland Mexican-food desert we call the Pacific Northwest. Best of all, the prices are incredibly reasonable. You get a massive portion of "real-deal" food without having to sell a kidney or take out a second mortgage. If you want to stop eating "tacos" that taste like sadness and disappointment and start eating like you're on vacation, get yourself to Mi Tierra. You may want to check out their menu on the Mi Tierra Official Website to plan your escape from mediocre salsa and to avoid the feeling that you are sitting for a test that you havent studied for as the wait staff can be pretty fast to take your order

I found the enchiladas to be very odd. They had no cheese in them, just spinach mushroom onions. And barely any sauce. It was like a salad inside a tortilla. I wanted wayyy more cheese.
