Over the last 10 years or so Ivy Lea has sided my Daughters house, her MIL's house and windows and siding in my brothers house. Last fall they replaced the rubber roof over my Kitchen. While the roof was open they installed 6" of cellulose insulation over the12" of existing fiberglass. Happy to say the quality materials and professional workmanship are still there. Mark and the crew kept our house dry even with the unexpected rain during installation. I was happy to see how little ice I had on my roof with all the snow we had in North Evans this year. Mark and pleasant, courteous and did a great job cleaning up. $$$ These guys are about the Money!. I got a quote and almost fell over. I mean i get it you wanna make a buck but 20 grand for a 2 block driveway about 40 feet long. Now, if your upper middle class and have some extra cash, go for it. I'm sure their work is excellent. Falls in my category of call the Kirby vacuum cleaner guy... STAY AWAY! Our experience with Ivy Lea has been a nightmare! Communication was bad from day 1. We were assigned an inexperienced 25yo project manager who was unable to answer any questions/guide us. Our salesperson made false promises. Both of them are no longer with Ivy Lea, so everything we were originally told is apparently now out the window. They said they would provide significant value in design ideas, vision, and project management which was not the case. We planned our project in 2 phases. Plans were drawn for the whole project before concrete was poured in spring'24. Concrete took way longer than we were told it would. The workers would say they would arrive at 8 but didn't come until 10. They would sit around, smoke weed/cigs, play on phones (see pics). We asked to speak to the owner, Mike Washington, who made it clear that he wants nothing to do with customer interaction. He never came to check on the project, the workers, or our satisfaction. Phase2 started in April'25. This included roof, fireplace, & grill/bar. When the roof was being built, we realized they completely overlooked the plan for the gutter downspout, so now the gutter runs down to the middle of our concrete. Obviously, we didn't want this. We planned with Ivy Lea in the beginning for the gutter to properly drain. They told us they forgot to add that when they poured concrete and couldn't fix it. Now we have a huge eyesore and hazard (see pics). Despite the promised consistency, IvyLea changed our foreman in the middle of phase 2 and more issues arose. Our project manager was completely MIA. When the bar was being built, I told the foreman that it looked like it was too close to the end of the roofline, and I was worried it wouldn't be covered. He made it clear he was not going to take a woman's complaints, and after I called about him he cornered me in my garage and made me feel uncomfortable with him at my home. After this, I had my husband handle communication. Ivy Lea assured us that the placement of the bar/grill would be fine, this was the plan, etc. Well long story short, I was right. When we hosted in our backyard that summer, it started lightly drizzling and all of the food got wet. Water pools on the counter. We don't expect it to stay dry during wind-driven rain, but what was the point of adding a roof if light drizzle will make the entire bar and grill unusable? The column on the right is 2.5ft further in on the bar compared to the plans, losing us 1/3 of our bar and the whole right side of the countertop area to be directly rained on bc the roof does not extend far out enough (see pics). Now we have had conversation with Mike and no resolution or apology. They want us to pay to fix this, even though this mess is their fault, inconsistent with the architect plans, and we have already invested 6 figures into this project. I am not an architect or construction worker; I am a nurse. We trusted that they knew what they were doing. The signoffs they sent us were vague. If you were having surgery, would you have to walk your doctor through your procedure? Or would you trust them to do what had to be done? We had trust in Ivy Lea as our contractor, but apparently getting all wet from light rain under a roof is reasonable to them. Ivy Lea claims to be "the most trusted name in home improvement", yet that could not be further from the truth and I am disgusted with their lack of integrity/accountability. It took 1.5yr for the owner to come to our house, talk with us, and actually lay eyes on the project, despite dozens of phone calls and emails to him. He actually told us that he was here in spirit the whole time (lol). He should have been here examining issues and talking to us first hand. This would have mitigated many problems. I have 2 other friends who have used Ivy Lea for projects in the past year and they both had major issues, too. There is much more I could share, but there is a character limit. I asked for an estimate about one and a half months ago to cover my patio and the gentleman that came to my house said he would get something out very soon. Well, I think we passed the part of very soon and I have received no estimate. Obviously I did not use this company Ivy Lea. If this company can't give me an estimate in a reasonable amount of time, what does that say about their business as a hole? Would my patio roof ever get done? read more

I called them out to get an esitmate for a small 7x18 ft deck extension, per Timber tech cost estimate of the decking was ~$2500-$2800. Add another 2k for the wood and railing (being generous) parts would be ~$4500-$4800. They came back with a price of $24480 ... Say what? I don't know if the guy estimating either doesn't know what he was doing, didn't want the job or just trying to rip me off but $25k is INSANE, Stay clear of them. They will not be looking to give you a fair price. read more

I had Ivy Lea come over for an estimate that included a 14 by 14 concrete pad with a hunch footer all the way around and also an upgraded electric service to 200 amps and electrical ran and installed to my current new hot tub purchase. I initially wanted and contracted a gazebo to be purchased and installed on the pad to cover hot tub. A few hours after agreeing to their price which was just short of 40,000$$ I had my wife call and put the gazebo on hold as i was iffy about it and did not want to settle for something i did not want especially spending that kind of money. So we informed them that we wanted something that was more inclosed with windows and a door not just screened in like the gazebo we first picked out. We had a general idea from looking online what we were looking for but Russell the salesman and part owner as he stated was also inquiring around. A few weeks go by and Russell sends us a bid with just the pad and electric upgrade and its 15,500$$....this was def on the high side but i was willing to go with it as i had already given them 11,000$$ down towards the job. He sends my wife 2 pictures with pricing of enclosed gazebos both of them are priced way higher then what we had seen online for the same exact thing. 27,740$$ for the 14 by 14 and 20,097$$ for the 11 by 14 was what he quoted. So i called tarson pools which sells the visser gazebo product out of syracuse and is who Russell also called and got price from, his price was 4,725$$ cheaper including tax and delivery to my house for 14 by 14 and 3,465$$ cheaper for the 11 by 14. I literally could not believe that Russell was trying to charge me almost 5000 dollars to make a phone call as his quote stated that this is the price and does not include price for install/labor. I'm appalled at the greed this man showed and the company he represents is just as responsible. I choose Ivy lea because 15 or so years ago I actually moved the owner from his home in town of Tonawanda to his home in Pendleton and i got the chance to see the craftsmanship and quality of work inside his Tonawanda home which was amazing. I am a business owner myself and mulled over writing this review but at the end of the day i just could not over look the greed factor. Ivy Lea is not cheap under any circumstances and was under no illusions that this was not the case when we called for estimates. I have no issue with pricing your work accordingly based on your quality and rep but what Russell did just shows that for Ivy lea, taking advantage of the customer for every nickel possible is their business model. I would be extremely careful when dealing with them and if your gonna get an estimate id be prepared to do your homework and cover your self because you dont wanna find out you spent 3 to 4 times the amount and where taken full advantage of just because they can. This will not be the last time for them i can promise just based on the response we got back after asking why they thought that it was ok to do that. No morale compass or business ethics. read more

Ivy lea replaced a leaky roof with....a leaky roof. Three years after installation the roof is leaking. Still under warranty but i have been waiting nearly 2 months for a remediation plan. Clearly honoring a warranty is not their priority. read more

They showed up exactly when they said they would, they cleaned up when they left every day and kept us informed every step of the way. Their work is impeccable. Had a new porch railing and pillars put in. The contractors were amazing for the pillars! Just wanted to put that out there. Railings are now done as of a half hour ago. We have had Ivy Lea do a number of larger jobs for us over the last few years: roof, entry doors, bathroom renovation, windows. We were happy with everything--work was done very professionally and quickly. Got some good input about materials to use etc. Bathroom renovation job was a real show piece. Unlike prior contractors we have Haden the past , there were no issues before, during, and after the jobs. Will use again. read more

We have had Ivy Lea do a few projects for us over the last few years. First was new windows. The windows were installed perfectly, very quickly. The windows we bought are fantastic. Air tight, functional and they look beautiful. This year, we had new siding and a new front door put in by Ivy Lea. RUN! Don't walk!! I've always wanted to write a review, and seeing ivy Lea sponsored ads on my facebook page, I finally decided to.. To start, we were working with an insulation contractor to get our attic better insulated, they were great! But we qualified to get half of our bill paid for through a program the state offered- as long as we qualified! Sadly, ivy Lea construction was the company they worked with so we had to have an energy audit done of our home.. The guy from ivy Lea was NOT friendly, and I was already aggravated because well, I've never worked with them because of their BBB complaints and a few people they did work for say they do poor work.. Anyways, into the audit the guy noticed after blasting the furnace/water heater/etc everything to full blast, the water heater wasn't venting as well as it should.. I agreed, and immediately the guy is trying to sell me a new water heater, an ELECTRIC water heater, telling me my standard chimney venting gas water heater wasn't working right.. I honestly had to hold back my giggling because right away this guy became a salesman, and did zero investigation as to WHY it wasn't venting.. I told him I would talk to OUR HVAC company because we had just gotten a new furnace and water heater.. The guy was not happy when I said that, and went on to say my kids and I will die of carbon monoxide.. That's when I probably let out a chuckle.. Now I KNOW COZ poisoning isn't a joke, in fact I have 2 working CO detectors in the basement, and 4 more throughout the house, and never have they gone off, nevertheless I right away called our HVAC company who saw it my way, and they immediately said- ivy Lea doesn't know what they are talking about, they just want to sell you something, let us come over and check it out- so they did, and it turns out, our chimney liner had fallen IN to the chimney AND there was a blockage! 20min later the dead animal/blockage was pulled out, and the chimney liner was pulled up and strait so it could vent correctly, and secured! TADA! They used their equipment and showed me how well it's venting! Now after that, we noticed a horrible smell of burning something in the basement- when the guy from ivy Lea had done the audit, he drilled holes in all the vent pipes, and the tape he put over it STUNK when the furnace kicked in from the heat... So we called the morons at ivy lea back and they tried so hard to say that's not possible, but even our HVAC guy said he could smell it, and that drilling holes like that isn't done often anymore for an audit.. So slimy ivy Lea came back and said, I don't smell anything?! When my husband made him walk over to the tape and smell, the guy said----- "whatever, you're all going to end up with carbon monoxide poisoning anyways" EXCUSE ME???? Our chimney is venting fine no thanks to you, and if that's your comeback instead of admitting your mistake, then I don't know what to say! I wanted to kick the guy out of my house! To make matters worse, since we called them back to rip off the tape and put metal plugs in that wouldn't burn, they wrote up a letter, a very SARCASTIC letter, stating that "we know our house is filled with carbon monoxide, and refused the electric water heater" from them.. I had the biggest grin on my face, and signed this sarcastically worded letter, knowing that we already had the HVAC company come out and remove the blockage, just so I could keep the copy so I could show my local contractor and HVAC company next time I see them how a PROFESSIONAL company can sarcastically word a letter, because they had to come back and fix a problem they did, yet were mad we didn't buy a 5,000 dollar water heater from them with no questions asked BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!! Grow up ivy Lea! Needless to say, I have told 2 friends to steer clear of them when they got quotes and show them that letter, so I feel a little better about that, I just wish I had kicked them out of my house when they realized they made a mistake and then said we would all die of CO poisoning. Rumors of them are true! Overpriced, snakes, hiring 3rd party workers, zero care for the customer. We used Ivy Lea to put on a new roof. We had a unique case in that our roof's bottom layer was slate. Then two more layers of shingle over that! I don' t know what the prior owners were thinking! We have a big roof that is steep - and in the city so we are on top of our neighbors. We had some companies look and quote so high you can tell they weren't interested in taking on the project. Ivy Lea came in competitive and were easy to work with. We signed off on the project in September but their schedules weren't open until December. We feared putting on a roof in winter (even though they were willing to do it). After expressing our fear, they were willing to wait until we were ready - which we finally were in March. The roof is done and looks beautiful! Ivy Lea was able to offer 2 years interest free loans - which we took. This was our main selling point. After the work was done, there were no surprise fees at the end. We were very happy! read more

I hired this company to tear out my old driveway and install a new concrete one. It all started out ok then the problems begin. My major complaint was basically a very very sloppy DIYer type job. They made a huge mess including concrete poured all over the entryway from the street and the street itself, concrete slashed all over the brick of my house and allowed to dry, marks on the driveway (said a bucket fell on driveway and it left a 4 inch gash type mark), tore up part of my garage floor and sloppily filled it in except a 3 x 3" hole which they filled with the gravel used as a base of the concrete leaving it with a large gap through which rodents could have easily entered my garage, cigarette butts everywhere, lawn torn up and left over good grass causing it to die immediately. I called to report the complaints and the owner did show up to inspect the damage and then had his crew return to repair and clean up all the mess they made. While it was an effort to do so, there was still a mess they could not 'see' and it was left still sloppy. In addition, they made two appointments to come over and never showed up nor did they call. One thing that did piss me off was when the operator called to schedule a time(s) to show up to correct their sub par job, she had quite an attitude and spoke to me as though I were a child being corrected by an adult. Not needed! nor was it appreciated and only served to leave a more negative image of their company in my mind. I know things do happen when ever you hire a company to do a home improvement project and yes, they did try to correct the mistakes but the bigger lesson should have been not to make such a huge mess to begin with. The guys who did the work were courteous and efficient and cleaned up after themselves. We had a few questions along the way which were promptly answered by the owner who kept in touch all along the project. What I found especially great was the fact that they contacted us afterwards to check on the work. Most places we deal with never contact us to see if we are satisfied with the work. My sister and I decided to have a total renovation of her bathroom . Everything in our house is the original from 1960. As this was a new experience I approached it carefully and as an educational experience. I cannot say enough about this company from Sandy in the office, to Scott who was our first contact who came to the house and did the estimate (and brought me coffee) , to Larry at the tile and bathroom fixture place (Scott met us there), to Mark and Aaron the skilled workmen who did the actual renovation, Chris the electrician guy,Mike, the owner, and Kevin who popped in, the whole package. As we have 2 dogs that we were going to board thru the whole project, Ivy Lea was most understanding and gave us a heads up for a start date. Mark and Aaron were super, punctual, friendly, respectful, skilled, made suggestions and answered all my questions without making me feel like a jerk. I felt very comfortable going about my daily routine and leaving them at the house. And carefully cleaned up every night before they quit for the night. The interruption in our life was minimal. I wish I could post the before and after pictures. What a difference!! We couldnot be happier. I had gotten a couple of quotes and they were competitive. Based on their reputation with the people I spoke with, we went with them and will for our next project. read more

Very frustrating to work with... Or even have the intentions of working with. I called to get a quote to finish some work on my home, it took a week for them to come out and quote me. That's fine even though I think they should make an effort to come out sooner. They finally came to my place on a Friday. After going through all the work that needed to be done, I was told I would have a quote in a "couple of days", which I assumed would be early the following week, Wednesday rolls around and still nothing! I called to check on the status of my quote and was redirected to a voicemail. I left a message, and didn't receive a call back until Friday (now a week later from when I got the quote). I was told that my quote has not been worked on and I should expect to have it sometime next week. I then asked if this is "typical" and was told yes, it usually takes a couple weeks to have the quote sent. (This was the same guy who came to assess the work). I then reminded him that he told me this would only take a couple of days. He then agreed and said yes that is the case. Bottom line... DO NOT LIE! Please do not go from saying a quote will take a couple of days, to a couple of weeks, then back to saying a couple of days but you're just behind of work. Clearly they don't want to do the work, and it is not a priority. Waiting around for a couple of weeks is just absolutely unacceptable. And if you're that busy, and behind on your work by that much, then be HONEST. Do not try to make up a lie, only to be caught in it. read more

Ivy Lea renovated our bathroom in an older condo building with building rules about cleanliness, noise, construction hours, and.on-time completion, etc which made the job complicated. They cleaned up at the end of every day. The crew handled the job with expertise and their experience was evident every day as decisions had to be made about what would be done behind the walls and how the renovation would look. They wanted the job to look great and it does! The crew listened to what we wanted done and also suggested alternatives when they thought we would be making a mistake. The quality of the work is obvious to all. The price was fair for a quality job and the estimate was accurate. Two adjustments to the estimate were needed and handled fairly. I would hire them again and recommend them to anyone wanting a job done right.. We recommend them because the job ended up looking better than we expected and because I still notice the excellent work months later. read more
