First, my thanks go to fellow Yelpers. I used Yelp to choose my contractor. The many excellent…read morereviews led me to choose Lifetime. Cary (the owner) came in with the first of several estimates. Of the contractors I contacted, he best understood what I wanted. My house had rotting window frames, uneven bad-looking shake shingle siding that was long past the day I should have done something about it. A house down the street had the look I wanted, and Cary quoted me the price. I also asked about replacing my front and side doors. The siding color I wanted was a special order, so I had to wait a couple weeks for it to be made. It was well worth the wait. Lifetime supplied a brand called "Perfection" and it is truly perfect siding. The siding sections lock together in a way that I don't think even a hurricane would loosen them. All the rotted wood was replaced with Azek trim. The result is my 70-year-old run-down house now looks like a new build. The doors that leaked cold air during the winter are gone. I am very satisfied.

The crew arrived earlier in the morning and were done by 3pm, everything cleaned up. Also, only business I know that gives senior citizen discounts. I highly recommend DGJ Brothers Contractors.

They all seemed very happy to be at their jobs and just did a fantastic job. I had all the windows and doors rewrapped and had all new gutters. My wife and I couldn't be happier.

If you're thinking of getting a new roof -- go with someone else!! This place has caused my home…read moreand family more trouble than our ancient garbage roof ever did. We were quoted for a new roof on our home in April 2025 and work began soon after. The workers had total disregard for our property. They stomped across our front garden, left their empty cans in our children's sandbox, and left nails just all over. They also smashed and snapped a huge limb off of our lilac bush (I watched them do this carelessly). They left extra pieces of roofing on the roof that blew off into the yard as well as a significant amount of nails on top of the roof of our porch. I understand the work can be messy, but this seemed outrageous. I was picking nails off our driveway for months afterward. The real issues started this winter. We live in Colden, NY and are used to harsh winters with an old roof. However, you'd think after almost $30k for a brand new roof you wouldn't have to worry about leaking/ insane ice issues on it. We have had leaking in the past that we were told would be remedied with the new roof. Instead, the leaking has been significantly worse this year causing more damage through our walls and ceilings. The first time they sent a repairman out to address the issue I was not asked if we were home or if they could come on the property. They called and told me (again, not asked) they'd be at our house in 20 minutes. While I appreciate the quick response, I am a SAHM with two littles and really did not feel comfortable receiving a call that someone would be coming into my home while I was home by myself. In addition to this, they gave the repairman the wrong address and he ended up stuck in my neighbor's driveway which was completely torn up when they pulled him out. The repairman did nothing but take photos of the house and shrug. He told me he couldn't do anything because the amount of ice on the roof would further damage it. The second time this happened, he took a ladder up to look at the issue and told us it was because of the siding. Our siding is old, however we are not convinced the siding is the issue. He found more pieces of roof that'd blown off in our yard and told us he was going to leave to reshape them and come back later that day to reattach them. He never came back, and we never heard from anyone again.

We had the roof and all gutters replaced in the fall of 2025. The job was done promptly at a…read morecompetitive price but we had a couple of major issues afterward. The roof started leaking at the vent pipe location. They first sent a guy who, instead of taking responsibility, completely denied there was any problem with the roof and said the vent pipe itself was the problem as it was rusted. We spent a $100 on getting the vent pipe checked out by an HVAC technician, who told us that the pipe was fine - no issues. So, I had to climb on the roof with a garden hose and run water on the roof to show that it was because of bad roof installation - I sent JP the video of the problem (the flashing of the vent pipe was not properly meshed with the shingles), and only then they agreed to fix it. The second problem is with the gutters, which are still not fixed. There is a gap between the new gutters and the roof, which is letting water to come through the gap. I have been trying to get hold of the person - they have promised to come 4 times over the last month but still have not fixed the problem. I have stayed home from work a couple of times just for it, and they did not even inform me that they were not going to make it that day. All in all, a very bad post-install service - a complete lack of professionalism!

Based on how this situation has been handled, my experience suggests that when serious installation issues arise, management may rely strictly on contract technicalities rather than taking responsibility for the work. When documented technical findings and heavy mold contamination are presented, a company that stands by its work should address the facts head-on rather than avoiding accountability. Keep in mind that major roofing flaws--like ventilation design failures, severe structural moisture, and heavy mold contamination--often take years to manifest. When that happens, you need a company led by people who take responsibility, not leaders who dismiss documented evidence. The roof was installed before I purchased the home, but its premature failure within just 7 years has caused severe issues: 2026 ice damming, living room leaks, and heavy Cladosporium mold growth--a serious health risk for young children. A properly installed roof is generally expected to last decades, not fail within 7 years. I want to be clear that my concern is with the installation and with how leadership has responded--not with the individual installation crew, who I do not believe are responsible for these decisions. An independent inspection revealed a ventilation design conflict--a ridge vent paired with gable vents and limited intake--creating a "short-circuited" system that trapped attic moisture. This explains the lab-confirmed heavy Cladosporium growth on the sheathing ("Very Heavy" spores, "Many" mycelial estimate), which violates ARMA and TAMKO guidelines. Instead of a brief update regarding their liability insurance review, the general manager submitted a lengthy, multi-page response on the BBB that which they later requested to be removed on 08/07/2026. I have fully screenshotted and backed up all records to preserve an accurate account of the facts, which fellow homeowners can review below. Management even refuse to address the facts head-on, a phone call is just for show--leaving these fundamental questions unanswered: 1. Permit compliance -- Was the work performed under the required municipal permits at the time? 2. Code applicability to older homes --What standard exempts older, existing homes from proper installation practices? 3. Ventilation design -- Given that no intake vent was installed and unsealed gable vents were already present, what was the reasoning for adding a ridge vent, creating an unbalanced system? 4.Flashing and fasteners -- My concern is specifically about exposed, unsealed fastener holes from reused flashing, not whether pan flashing itself should be visible. How does reusing flashing without resealing align with proper water-intrusion prevention? 5. Liability basis -- Separate from contractual technicalities, what is a contractor's responsibility for non-compliant work, especially since liability insurance opened a claim? Liability insurance already opened a claim based on credible evidence--not mere persistence. Leadership should address these technical findings instead of hiding behind contract technicalities. Even if a direct contract existed, they would just claim they followed it. But the truth is, the contract itself was built on a flawed design. A long-standing reputation should be built on accountability, not on contract technicalities. In my view, a truly reputable company is best served by addressing documented facts head-on rather than focusing on the absence of a direct contract. For homeowners considering this or any contractor: request their Certificate of Liability Insurance, and verify licensing and permit history with your local building department. If you encounter a dispute, the Erie County Department of Public Advocacy or the NY State Attorney General's office are available resources.

My experience hasn't been the best…read more The first issue is a roof leak that started 2 months ago. Amherst didn't offer a temp solution and it took them two months to replace. Part of the delay was definitely weather (thankfully the leak was minor), but there was poor communication through that process requiring multiple follow ups on my end so I could have an understanding of progress. The initial estimated time had been 3 weeks (seemed optimistic to me). Two months is obviously a bit of a difference and more than I was expecting, even with weather. Holidays probably came into play, but no communication. Promised communications didn't happen, consistently. I have sympathy due to the weather but the lack of a communication/follow up on promises is a negative mark. Estimate: onsite estimate service was friendly, helpful, and solution oriented. This won me over vs other companies that were "do the minimum" and some just knocked and then left without talking with one that even failed to send an estimate. Pricing was similar to the competitors that responded and sent me a quote. Amherst was only a couple hundred higher. I was willing to pay slightly more based on the positive estimate experience and reviews, but I question the wisdom of that now. Onsite: One of the workers peed on the snow in my back yard. I don't know why they didn't ask for the bathroom, but dude... gross. Don't worry, I didn't photograph. I know people gotta go, been there, but I have a bathroom. Also, my garage door was slightly opened about 6"(currently it's busted because a cable jumped the spool and so it requires work to open and gets stuck unless you work it). It's been closed for days waiting for a warmer/dryer period for me to spend a couple of hours attempting to fix. This makes me suspect the worker who peed in my yard also attempted to access my garage, but my camera didn't capture it so I'm uncertain. Not sure why else it'd be open on the day they did work. It was closed before. Thankfully opening all the way would have made a huge screeching racket, so while I haven't checked I suspect nothing was stolen. They needed a spot for a large dumpster placed in my driveway and cars to be removed. Just heads up that they'll want a dumpster as close to the roof as possible. Colors were slightly different from initial conversations (trim was supposed to be black (based on remembered verbal conversation) but were white. Roof tiles were green and the fact they were a very different green wasn't brought up until installation day. I appreciated it being pointed out but I was a little annoyed it wasn't mentioned on the front end. Cleanup: I didn't understand why reviewers posted about the "good cleanup" jobs of contractors. Oh boy do I understand now. We found 16 nails in our drive way in just five minutes of looking in a 10'x10' space. (Checking this morning: Our deck has nails and in our neighbors driveway I found 4 nails.) Thankfully we still had daylight to check our driveway before parking our cars as I'm pretty sure we'd have lost at least one tire. I'm extremely unhappy about this as magnets exist and can be used to sweep for nails or metal detectors can be used. Those methods would both be cheaper than me replacing my tires and I'd absolutely be looking for reimbursement. Also nails on my wife's office front steps that she didn't notice last night but were twisted and could have caused harm. Her reaction is significantly less calm than my post might indicate as she STRONGLY vented her feelings about it. Thanks Amherst. I had been two stars, but that dropped it to one. Photos: I was promised photos of work done, but they haven't been sent as of this review. The job itself? Ask me in ten to 30 years I guess. I mean, a roof lasting is sort of the bare minimum of expectations. What sucks is that this had seemed the BEST of the contractors I received quotes from and based on Reddit reviews. I've only had a couple positive experiences with Buffalo contractors and I'm not sure if this is a sign of the times or specific to Buffalo. Before COVID when I lived in other states/cities my experiences were significantly better with contractors. Now it feels like there's a bare minimum level of care to do a job well. Paying a little more doesn't seem to have gotten me a little more. Will I use again? Right now that feels unlikely but the other vendors seemed like they would be equally bad so I'd probably check Reddit/yelp for the most recent reviews as things change. At least, in theory, I have a lifetime warranty.
