So much Candy!!
Angie R.

My two sisters, bro inlaw, two nieces and I came to It's Sugar on 11/05/22 as it was their first time coming to the Third Street Promenade . I knew my nieces would enjoys such a store and even us adults as who doesn't have a sweet tooth once in a while. No staff greeted us upon entering as they were all busy restocking or tending to the long line of customers. The store was not crowded but it did have several people inside. The store itself was so clean and tidy. It had a lot of gummy candies and chocolate as well. I am not really a candy person and mostly just nibble on whatever my sisters or nieces got as if I got a bag of candy it will totally go to waste as I won't eat it. Besides candy, they do have cool items like toys, cards, gifts, candles (like cookies and creme SAY WHAT) was tempted to buy but those signature candles were pretty pricy and but they did unique items like throw back items from the 80s to 90s! As a legit 90s baby it always warms my heart to see my childhood candy, toys or gear in general. The prices were reasonable even for Santa Monica. They had music playing and overall it was such a delightful treat! I did enjoy the "B**ch Citation (I don't cuss or use profanity) but it's the name of the citation. I seriously wanted to buy it but the therapist in me was like NOPE haha maybe one day - as that is seriously passive aggressive but hilarious. The staff was absolutely friendly, the long lines mood quick. My nieces LOVED this store along with their parents too! I was happy they were happy - it was a nice outing. The girls ended up sharing their candy with me -joys of being an auntie. Overall, I highly recommend IT'S SUGAR. Lovely chain and wonderful experience at the Santa Monica location.

Pre-packaged gummy rattlesnakes. More cool stocking stuffers. 12/20/20

Def Leppard once sang, "Pour some [It'Sugar] on me." I should know since it was once of my chosen warm-up songs when I played college softball. So, I decided to check the Santa Monica candy shop out recently... ENVIRONMENT It's located within the highly-favored Third Street Promenade. It's got that classic sunny California outdoor shopping experience that all the tourists love to rant about and homegrown folks expect. The shop itself is medium-sized with candy kiosks and displays every which way you turn. The explosion of colors and over-manufacturization of candy wrappers will undoubtedly lure your sweet tooth in... SERVICE Employees kept to themselves during the COVID-19 holiday shopping weekend (12/20/20). I didn't buy anything. My homeboy did, though - and no complaints. I would have heard something if there were. Lol. MY FAVORITE PART... The nostalgia. The visualized face palms along with thoughts of "I used to enjoy eating that stuff?" Also, the sarcastic magnets near the cashier registers are creations after my own twister heart. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The in-store background music. This store could really drive me nuts if I let it. Being there with a friend helped, though. Lol. We walked in when one particular teenie bop pop crap song played... it was a combination of Jojo Siwa type energy meets Tiesto beats (which I love, but I'm just painting the picture here) meets the Chipmunks voices all jabbering at once... my ears were bleeding! THE CANDY OFFERINGS I'm sure if I thought hard enough about it I could come up with some candy they didn't have, but there was too much to list. Mexican candies too. Some Asian varieties with which I'm not familiar. Because of recent health scare concerns, this store has taken extra precautions to carefully package items like never before (per the signage). PARKING There was no charge for nearby garage parking or at meters due to the COVID-19 pandemic. TIP Good place to people watch as this area is filled to the brim with shoppers with "interesting" taste - and oh, the street performers! - not to mention homeless folks that have weathered an array of storms. OVERALL I'd go back only if my friend dragged me over here again. It's a fun store to browse. Going to buy me some gummy rattlesnakes if we do... | Candy Offerings: 4 | Service: 3 | Environment: 3 | Price: 4 |

It's Sugar

It's sugar is the best sweet shop with all my favorite old school and new school treats. It makes me smile and I feel like I got a golden ticket to the Wonka factory every time I walk through the doors. Every one is so friendly and smiling, it must be a great feeling to work in a candy store. I'd die of of diabetes if I worked there. But I am envious of being surrounded by goodies all day long. I always find the most hilarious tidbits and novelties in a good way, not like the Venice beach tent way.

[Review #284] 2018 Yelp 100 Challenge (49/100) We had some time to kill before the show & walked around the Promenade. It's been years since our last visit... there are still street performers & panhandlers but there were new shops that we haven't seen before, including IT'SUGAR. Back in the day, Sweet Factory was THE candy story, all sorts of sweet treats sold by weight; now there are all sorts of candy shops & bars. IT'SUGAR doesn't stand out except for some the wall candy that I've never seen before. If my LOs were with me, I'm sure they'll be bouncing off the walls in excitement before taking a bite. ;-) The bins were well stocked with candy & there were only a couple of tongs/spoons for each section instead of individually attached to each bin. Less cleaning? If this shop ever gets busy, that's a major inconvenience to the potential customer; I might try to hold onto that tong while I browse the bins. I did see a customer reach in to grab a sample with his hand. C'mon, at least use a spoon or tong! That's just unsanitary & sick, especially since flu season isn't over. In the back corner near the register is a wall of cute stuffed animals, not my thing but I'm sure my daughter will love these plushies too. IT'SUGAR is sugar heaven for candy lovers with a decent selection considering its size... good selection of flavored gummies, gummy sours, chocolates, & licorice. What I thought was cool & cute is the LEGO brick candies because they actually stack. :-) We picked up about 1/3 lb. of sweets to enjoy during the show & to share with our LOs. The self-serve candy bins are sold by weight & are a bit pricey so I don't expect to be a frequent customer... but it'll be a fun trip with my kids. It's like a kid in a candy store. LOL

Such a fun store! I've been in a couple different cities. This location doesn't have as great of a selection. That being said it is still wonderful. Lots of candy gifts, candy bins and even T-shirt's and floats. It's fun to stop in no matter what you're looking for.

Decent place to get a variety of candy and gag gifts. Staff was very pleasant but overall it was just alright and overpriced.

The best. The best I've had to date. Or in the words of Drake "the best I ever had" on repeat…read more Here, that refrain is warranted. I used to be a diligent frequenter of Tobi Tobin in Malibu for their chocolate. I never knew it was simply John Kelly marked up!! My goodness. That was a shock and relief all at once. I was so grateful to find my beloved chocolate AGAIN after TT closed but was shocked I was buying from a secondary distributor who did not disclose. Mind blown. Regardless, so grateful for this super decadent chocolatier on Montana. I love it so much I stopped in on a work trip when back in LA to gather my faves and my husband collected me some upon his recent trip back. I had a delightful chocolate bunny for Easter. Goodness it's just the best. I love the chocolate walnut and the marzipan I tried recently was a new introduction and a delight. Their chocolate embodies the joy of life. Each bit is pure pleasure! Have sent it as a gift and plan to get more as a gift on a future trip. Their chocolate does not disappoint. I adore!

It's a great client gift, and if I want to impress family or friends and make them feel a little extra special, this is what I buy. I do wish it were a bit more affordable--of course--but I also understand why it's priced the way it is. You really can't go wrong. It tastes amazing, the quality is excellent, and the staff is always kind and helpful.
