    Pint of Jamoca almond fudge
    Deborah E.

This is my second time visiting this location. The first time was in October to redeem my free ice cream cone for my birthday. I went back today to get some Jamoca almond fudge ice cream. It was $8.99 for a pint, which made more sense since it was almost 5 dollars for one scoop. Once again, the person working, there was not very warm or friendly. She served me, but not very enthusiastically. I must say these days a smile goes a long way. When I looked in the bag the pint was sitting upside down. I'm glad I noticed otherwise it could've leaked in my car onto my upholstery. In addition, the app never works. I asked the worker about points and she told me to bring up my app and of course once again it did not work. It just sat there frozen so I said forget it. It wasn't worth it. Will I return? Probably not. I might just find the ice cream at the supermarket.

    Wrong cake.

I ordered a Lakers cake for my daughter's birthday, customized with her name and "Happy Birthday." Our housekeeper picked it up, but when I got home, I saw it was an Atlanta Hawks cake without her name. Sean called me, insisting his order showed an Atlanta Hawks cake. I explained that made no sense--why would I order an Atlanta Hawks cake without my daughter's name or "Happy Birthday" on it? Sean claimed their website never has issues and that I was the first person ever to have a problem ordering, which is preposterous--clearly, every website experiences issues occasionally. He refused to acknowledge the possibility of an error on their end, repeatedly suggesting I was mistaken. Instead of offering to deliver the correct cake, he suggested I drive the incorrect cake back to the store to have it fixed--an unreasonable expectation just 30 minutes before the birthday party.

All the cone options to try!
    Deborah T.

I checked out the opening ceremony for this Baskin Robbins location! I got the baseball flavor which was a vanilla base with raspberry swirl and walnuts. I was very intrigued by all the cone options but because of the crowd, the scooper didn't ask me too specifically for the cone type I wanted. I'll have to go back to try the other chocolate dipped cones! As usual, there were about three cases of ice cream flavors to choose from. You can sample before making your selection.

Then, an eternity ago, it closed and we were sad. Then Long Beach Creamery opened and we weren't that sad for that long, but still, I absolutely still thought about them every once in a while, sad that they'd left. Then, a much closer eternity ago (about a year ago - I've been super burned-out and not finishing my reviews), I was on my way from an event back to the blue line and walked by and noticed that they had, in fact, just moved. So obviously we had to get some. Verdict - yes, it absolutely was as good as I remembered. I wouldn't go back to DTLA just for ice cream, Long Beach Creamery being walking distance and wonderful, but I would absolutely stop here if I were back in DTLA and wanted ice cream. It's a bit pricey, but all craft ice cream is going to be, and it is definitely craft. And you can save a lot by getting a 3-scoop, which is very much enough to share for two people, if not slightly too much.

My boyfriend tried the vanilla soft serve with Nutella filled Aboong. The warm fish against the cold ice cream created a great mix of textures and flavours, but once the fish is gone the ice cream itself is just ok. The taiyaki, in my humble opinion, are the winners. The Oreo taiyaki was absolutely delicious! It came out super fresh, they filled both the body AND tail with Oreo so every bite had a great ratio of chewy fish and filling. This location always fills their Taiyaki evenly which I appreciate, it's much better than the ones I've tried in Sawtelle. It's really affordable too, so definitely come try it.

The restaurant is small and tables are situated as best they can with one blocking the employee only door. The manager worker, pushing a cart told me that I was blocking this way and he needed to get him to the entrance. I proceeded to get up and allow him to move the chair where he wanted to. He told me well. I'm gonna be coming back back-and-forth as if to say don't sit back down. Another customer witnessing the exchange move the chair so that he could get in and out. When he came back out, he points to the chair and say you can sit down now. Customer service needs everything to me to include management having a responsibility to the customer that support their business. I just feel that if I were Asian, he wouldn't have addressed him in that way.

Thank goodness I did, because the cashier came up to my table about 10 minutes later and handed me a little bag of fresh-ground matcha. She took a second to explain to me how to store it and keep it fresh, and I just really appreciated the extra bit of customer service, even if it's something they're maybe expected to do. They have so many locations and only wish they had more. The closest to me is about 20mins away but it's worth the drive every time. I love this location especially. Always such friendly staff and never have to wait in a long line. Basically, if you're a newbie, you go in and ALWAYS as for the "seasonal flavors" for tasting. They give you tasters on silver spoons and you drop it down this hole when you're done. It's literally their culture to give you a taste of everything on their seasonal menu so don't skip out on this experience. It's the best way to try their ice cream. FUN FACT: they also have 1-2 flavors that are considered "last chance" flavors which means they are about to run out so get it before it's gone. Each month I go in to try another tasty flavor and it never disappoints but I am sometimes that girl who tries the new stuff but ends up getting her usual order (chocolate brownie) and am always happy. Just the smell of sugar cone alone when you walk in gets you hooked. The atmosphere is just so welcoming. Don't be intimidated by the many flavors to choose from because there are a lot. I like to get their double scoop in a waffle cone, but they also have awesome split scoop options for those more adventurous and want to try multiple flavors in one scoop. Saves you for when you're keeping your sugar levels down. There are usually always places to sit inside or outside so you can enjoy your goodies right away.
