This time it was for insect control in the kitchen and surrounding areas. The scheduler set the appointment and gave me a 4 hour window of time. That time came and went. I even paid someone to be present when they came because I could t stay the full 4 hour window of time. So I called chemfree an hour after the window of time, asking where he was. She said he was running late. Then called me back several minutes later to say she mixed the days up and it was actually the next day. Same time window. So I said as long as it was after noon and not earlier because I'd be on a Zoom call for work and couldn't answer the door during the call, much less have a lengthy conversation with someone needing me to explain the problem. He showed up 2 hours early and knocked and rang the bell for a good 15 minutes right as I was just beginning the call. It was very interrupting and hard to focus during that time on what I was saying on the business call with all the knocking a scribging. I simply couldn't answer the door to even talk through the security camera because I was on a business call. Turns out he was just there to talk about it and not actually do the job. So that was enough of my time wasted and a sign that it wasn't a good match that they couldn't respect my time I had made for them by not showing up when they said they would. After talking to a few pest companies, not only did they get the species of ants wrong (acrobat vs carpenter) which affects the bait being used, but they also can't get their story straight. I contacted them about an ant infestation inside my home. The technician who came out placed sugar bait inside to eliminate colony. He told me that an exterior treatment was not necessary at that time. I accepted that recommendation, due to potential exposure for my active dog. Months later, I called to follow up because the ant problem had not been resolved. I was then told the $216.50 treatment of simply adding sugar bait for the interior also included exterior treatment during the original visit. That was surprising because I was never told an exterior treatment had been done. When I asked where it had been applied, they did not give me a clear answer regarding the exterior. Paying for another treatment isn't the issue. If the ants require another visit, I'm happy to pay for it. My concern is that the explanation of what was actually done has changed. Now, they're saying I have to pay another $216 for their services again. Something just isn't adding up. If there's a reasonable explanation, I'd like to hear it. Based on the conflicting information, I have little confidence in their service.

She said they don't do drill+inject Fipronil, but she reviewed my exclusion plus bait station plan and made several helpful suggestions. It was a 20-minute call and she knew from the beginning that this would not be a paying job for them since the one thing I can't do myself without a pest control license is something they don't do themselves, but she was generous with her time anyway. At the end I offered to pay $50 for the consult but she said it wasn't necessary. I will certainly call them if I'm unable to locate the entry point of rats into my rental house.

The arrived and quickly identified my issue and saw that what I was doing was treating it fine. There was only one additional thing for me to do, which they educated me to do. They told me there was no need to spray chemicals; no treatment was required. They were here maybe 5 minutes. They told me this was essentially a consultation. There would be no charge. Talk about a surprise! I could easily see a fee for showing up (like plumbers), but they were gracious. They said genuinely, they just provided me with some information. If I get frustrated with my efforts, there is a path they can take, but it's certainly not necessary now. They have gained a customer! Even though I'm not officially using their services right now.
