I honestly can't say enough amazing things about this restaurant. I first came to this place on a whim... Me and my family love different foods and Thai is for sure my fave... we saw it had just opened and figured to give it a try. This place is AMAZING. The food is ALWAYS good. The service is ALWAYS spot on and I have never left unsatisfied with the meal or service. This is now my favorite Thai place hands down and I look forward to trying more dishes. I just ordered take out, but the food was very good. We tried the drunken noodles, pad Thai, crying tiger and spring rolls, both noodle dishes were really flavorful and there was enough of each dish for leftovers. The crying tiger appetizer was yummy and I loved the chili sauce that it came with. I probably wouldn't order the spring rolls again. They were very large and you get 3, but they really did not have much flavor. I will definitely be going back. It's a hidden gem in Midlothian and the actual restaurant was very cute and clean. We were here once before and it was tolerable. Tonight we stopped by and it was totally different. The person who sat us was more interested in getting back to the food he was stuffing in his mouth. No asking about drinks. Just kept going back to his food. Everyones heard of those New York City out of the way hole in the wall restaurants that have the best food ever. Well IThaiz is one of those but located here in Midlothian, VA. We saw this place while browsing through Yelp and decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did. At first entering it sort of looks like one of those NYC hole in the wall places but after being seated and looking around it has some very interesting decorations that gives it a homey feeling. The owner greeted us and not being too familiar with Thai food I asked her for her recommendation. She asked me what type of food I liked, i.e. mushrooms, how spicy etc. rather than just suggesting a dish. She then recommended a dish which was wonderful. I couldn't believe how flavorful the sauce was and how well each ingredient complimented one another. The owner also suggested the "Lucky Buddha" beer to go with my spicy dish and it was a good suggestion. Being my first visit there I figured I'd try a dessert as well. I've never had a better Creme Brûlée. All in all it was a very good meal. Please, don't let first impressions fool you. This is a diamond in the rough. I have always been a huge fan of this place. Consistently good and friendly people. I realize tonight was Valentine's Day and expected a delay. We are home with two small children so delivery just seemed easiest. Ordered food at 7:05pm. It's now a few minutes till 10:30pm and our order disappeared and the restaurant is closed. Never again. This is the best Thai food I have ever eaten. My husband and I tried the Papaya Salad, Pineapple Fried Rice, Crispy Pork Belly, Fried Spring Rolls, Tom Yum Seafood Soup and for dessert, DELICIOUS homemade mango ice cream with fried banana egg roll. Craving Thai, we popped in after reading favorable reviews, and so glad we did! We were immediately greeted, offered a beverage, and given menus. A little leery at first as there just two other customers in there on a Wednesday night at 7:30pm. Our appetizer came out within a few minutes and it was fantastic - pot stickers were flavorful and the broth was so good. We picked American Hot and our noses were running. I ordered the red curry with shrimp at medium heat and it hit the spot. My husband got the drunken noodles with medium heat and chicken. He was pleased. We left blowing our noses, full bellies, and a reasonable $30 tab. Great customer service, clean, fast and tasty. We'll be back! read more

Awesome Thai food for Midlothian. I really like their homemade sweet chili sauce. Spring rolls are super crispy and fresh. The money purses were a nice surprise as well. Everyone was super friendly. They seemed like family. They even put on cartoons for our son, which was really unexpected. If you use the Perka app, they have deals running all the time. The only negative is that we were really in the mood for Thai last Sunday and they were closed. They should have anticipated this and opened on their day off. J/k Other than that, awesome place. My first time at this restaurant- i tried their beef stew for lunch, which was not on their regular menu. I happen to have seen it on a customer's feedback photo. Two hours later they finally brought out our entrees after numerous inquiries. Mine was wrong so i sent it back an the waiter said he would send the Manager ( I never asked to speak to the manager). The manager came out and started berating me for sending my food back. At that point I told her we were leaving. I was understandably upset as was my wife after waiting for two hours and told that they shouldn't have to remake my incorrect meal. The manager asked what I wanted her to do and I said I just wanted to get the food I ordered and didn't want to wait another 2 hours. She told me I did get the correct meal (it was not). Ordered take out and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. It ended up taking an hour and a half. Also ordered shrimp and crab fried rice, only to get home and find out there was no crab. So I paid $4 more for my meal than what I received. If you're looking for good service and accurate food orders I would highly advise you eat somewhere else. read more

I wish I could've given iThaiz 5 stars as that is what brought us in according to the reviews. Unfortunately, I have absolutely nothing good to say about this place. They were not busy at all but it took about an hour for the servers to start bringing entrees out that were not even ours, mind you we were seated before anyone else in our section and no refills on water. When asking when our food would be ready we were told another 10-15 minutes after already waiting an hour. We asked to speak to a manager and were told "No" since they were the only cook in the back at the moment...... until a gentleman who was on the phone, got off the phone and all of the sudden WAS the manager! He asked us what the problem was, and as we explained the situation he began to be rude and pointed us towards the door! Poor customer service! read more

As with humans, restaurants get only one chance to make a good first impression. This restaurant failed. To be positive, the food was superb! Ah, but that first impression. It took over an hour (1:05) from the time our order was place until it was delivered. And even then, only my dish arrived. My companion's dish arrived 10 minutes later! Two couples walked out before their food came. A policeman, who paid for a takeout order, lost patience and got his money back. My mom and I went in for lunch and it was such a nice interior! The service was so friendly, and it had a very much of a nice neighborhood vibe. With it only being 5 minutes from me, I'll probably be going a lot more. The portions were so big (amazing) And they had great vegetarian options! The tofu was so flavorful and not as greasy as ones I've tried in the past. I got medium spice level; my mother and I both agree that we can go spicier, so if you're not good with spicy food, I think this place is pretty accommodating. What you'll get: 1) Delicious *Americanized* Thai food made with very fresh ingredients--If you've eaten at other American Thai restaurants, you'll be familiar with the menu items and their flavors. I've been very happy with the quality, portion and taste of everything I've ordered. 2) A restaurant with a nice vibe--It's clean enough that I'm not grossed out and it's decently decorated for a place in a run-down strip mall near a bunch of Midlo neighborhoods. What you WON'T get: 1) Alcohol--No adult beverages on the menu. 2) A warm greeting upon entering or paying--They're about getting the order in or getting the transaction completed. 3) Normal wait staff etiquette--You won't be offered a beverage or asked how your meal was. Plates could be slapped down in a rush and the waiter could walk by you multiple times without acknowledging you, even when it's not busy. 4) A quick meal--I've waited 45 minutes for one take-out dish and there were only 3 occupied tables in the place. 5) The phone answered quickly on any given night--You might be told to "hold", which means the receiver will be put down and you must sit for up to 5 minutes before hanging up without ordering. The guy who is usually the waiter and cashier (pay at the register, btw) has a seriously arrogant attitude. During my first in-restaurant visit I mentioned to him how delicious my meal was while paying my bill. His response was "Oh, I know it was." He's not overtly rude, just seems to think that he's running a Michelin-starred restaurant in a really big city, so there's no need to be gracious, polite or helpful. The food's good, so customers will keep coming, I guess. I've walked in and waited a full five minutes standing 10 feet away while he chatted with his buddies about skiing (or snowboarding...wasn't really focused on that). The thing is, the place is a mile from my house and the food is good enough that I put up with the nonsense if I'm in the mood for Thai. Shame on me. I'm part of the problem. read more

I'll give this place 4 stars. I got an order to go. The ordering process was smooth and the gentlemen who took the order/maybe the owner accurately took it and repeated it back to me. That's always a good move. I'd never been here before but was craving Thai food and wasn't about to drive to carytown to where I normally go - Thai diner too. I arrived and the location is kind of dumpy outside but looks ok inside. It's a bit unorganized in how it's configured and hard to know where to go for takeout. The pickup process was also a bit unorganized. I ordered pork green curry and drunken beef noodle. I also got extra rice. The food exceeded my expectations and was pretty good. It was made fresh with quality ingredients. One thing that annoys me is when restaurants only give you a tiny amount of rice. Steamed rice is so cheap so why skimp on that? Their rice comes in this really tiny styrofoam container - about half of what comes in the small paper Chinese containers. Even with ordering extra I didn't have enough for one meal. For my leftovers (half the green curry) I had to make my own rice. read more
