Cute coffee shop in Ithaca! The Kyoto cold brew was too acidic for my taste, I would not get this again. Strangely sour... and I love most black coffees. The matcha lemon cookie had a nice chew. The flavors individually were both good. However, the lemon overpowered the matcha- I would prefer these as separate cookies. Overall, I would maybe return. Nothing particularly stood out. read more

Amazing cafe and specialty food store. Delicious coffee, scrumptious pastries, and an expansive snack collection - what more could you ask for! I ordered an avocado toast and oat milk latte. The toast could have used a bit more avocado and seasoning, but overall solid. The coffee was extremely delicious. Robust yet balanced. Will definitely come back again! Prices are reasonable $7-15 per person. Parking is easy. Service is always friendly and helpful! Staff will even recommend coffee bean choices and gift ideas. The interior is bustling with a few tables inside and a specialty grocery store. They have a tavern in the back that serves beer and alcohol (there is also a liquor store right next to it run by the same owners!) While the staff is friendly the owners are rude, arrogant and overall just not very good people. They are rude to their staff right in front of customers, and I can see why there seems to be a lot of turnover as far as staffing goes. While the coffee is not terrible, it's also nothing special and pretty much EVERYTHING is mind bogglingly overpriced. If someone with passion for customer service, coffee, and a much kinder and warmer personality bought this business it would take just a few tweaks and a bit of focus to make this a special and enjoyable way to spend time and money. But with the current owners I refuse to hand over my money to ppl who do not share my values and are clearly not made for or even interested in any kind of place that is customer service based. And if they are that rude in front of customers I hate to think what awful and horrid ppl they are to their staff when there are no witnesses. I've been in several times, and really enjoy getting my craft beers here. Great variety of stouts on rotation, and they have been great in providing singles to build your own pack. Really nice floor staff who take care of stocking. The Café & shop: The grilled cheese sandwich (we had gouda) is great, I recommend getting the Purity pints here if you want to pick up a pre-packed pint but have your pup with you. Great place to make gift baskets and pick up souvenirs as well. I've picked up 1/2 gallons of Byrne Dairy milk here. The only reason I took a star off is that they don't let you know that the newer membership perks give you 10% off café drinks and other items. The barista this afternoon failed to prompt me and ask if I had a membership, which I did. I didn't get prompted at the bar, either. Perhaps they usually offer memberships and prompt other patrons on the discount, but may not see me as the type to have a membership? I noticed they prompted a white customer, and that's what made me question things. I am often the only visible PoC in this place at any given point, so I may be sensitive to these things here in Upstate NY, especially after years living in Boston and California to provide context. I'm always prompted next door at Triphammer Wines and Spirits, so maybe they don't encourage staff here as much. Otherwise, pretty nice staff, though I miss the friendliest (butch) bartenders who seemed to have moved on. They made the space feel very queer-friendly. AFAIK, it's dog friendly, as I've brought my small dog into the café and tavern without issue. I had also asked staff on separate occasions about their pet policy, and was given approval. Just make sure your pups are well-behaved, leashed, quiet, and don't make a mess (though with the latter, accidents do happen, and the staff was very helpful in aiding cleanup, for which I am grateful). read more

Coffee: I was looking for a local roaster to support other than Gimme to try out some new coffees. I bought their French Roast that literally smelled funky and had a zingy after taste like compost. I have had bad coffee before but they usually smell good even if they didn't taste great. Not this one. I went for an exchange which I've never done before at any coffee shop. the manager claimed this is a family business and can't accommodate, and offered 10% off on another bag. OK i get that it's small business, but It's not like I go back in every week to exchange for a new bag of coffee... Well, now I will definitely not try Ithaca Coffee again after this experience. The beer bar: last time i was in there meeting friends, Dec of 2022, a homeless person walked in, and the bar tender served him a beer, and he proceeded to spit that out all over himself and the floor, at the table next to me... Overall, I do not recommend this place unless you like overpriced gourmet edible gifts which are cute and unique for Ithaca. read more

One of my favorite coffee spots in Ithaca. The staff is always friendly and makes a solid espresso drinks. I do think that their espresso blends can stand to be a bit more complex but I find it that it always hits the spot. I love that they offer local goods like cookies, honey, and maple syrup for sale. They offer coffee paraphernalia for sale next to their coffee blends. And both Ithaca locations have a bar area that serves beers mostly. I have not had their more substantial food offerings for a while so I cannot really to their quality. But I am sure being next to Ithaca Bakery allows them access to great bread for their sandwiches/toast. Also, this location has better parking than their one in downtown Ithaca as it is located in the Triphammer Mall strip. All in all, affordable, good coffee with a small convenience store aspect to it. read more

It's that time of year to buy holiday gifts for my team. We are working remote and don't know when we will return to conduct our business in person. I celebrate the work they are doing throughout the year and at this time of year I give them a small token of my appreciation. Perhaps this year more than past years, it was important to me to support a local small business especially due to COVID. I called yesterday to buy 25 gift cards at $20 each. The person who took my call said she would have them ready when I could come in. I explained that I would be running a couple of errands and then I would be in. When I arrived I was greeted warmly and my order was ready. I just had to pay for them. Service with a great attitude and the attention to detail is appreciated. I'm certain she was smiling but with masks on you can't see it but you most certainly could feel the warm energy. I've shopped here several times and I've had great experiences. From their veggie panini to their vegan blueberry scone to their white chocolate raspberry scone (not vegan) I've enjoyed their food offerings and their hot lattes. During Covid I've appreciated their safety precautions and the guidelines they are following. Additionally, I'm amazed at the variety of items for sale in the small store. I'm thinking stocking stuffers and gifts for friends. While always a strong supporter of locally owned businesses, I will continue to buy local. It was a great experience and I will be back soon! Love this place. I frequent here for a break from Ubering. The atmosphere is chill. Cute little eating area with chairs and tables, free WiFi, small selection of delicious sandwiches and desserts. Amazing large selection of fresh coffee beans, teas, cheeses, wines, olive oils with reusable containers and more. There's also a restroom and a bar area in the back. Ithaca Coffee Company is a great coffee shop. Why you might ask, well first and foremost the coffee, that should be the main reason you come here. The standard blend they use in their coffee is very good, seriously just get an espresso next time you are there and you will taste an unbelievable amount of flavor. Second they roast their own beans, you can get coffee from across the world at very reasonable prices. Third, they have craft beer bar in the back, they rotate their beers pretty often so you can get some unique things. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the price of their craft beer to take home, it is definitely more expensive here than at other places around Ithaca, but they do have a very good selection for how small of a place it is. read more

Great spot for a coffee, a sandwich, to sit and work for a while, and to hang out and have a beer. Huge fan of the bar in the back, it's nice and secluded and the rotating taps always have something interesting and unusual. Lots of great picks. The sandwiches and coffee are great, I'm a big fan of the frozen mocha and whichever sandwich has the prosciutto. It's a great spot to stop for a gift if you're leaving the state and want to bring back something from Ithaca. read more

This is a review of the tavern which is located in the back of both locations. Specifically this is for the Triphammer location which at one point had a great beer selection. This business goes through quite a bit of staff, which I never found to be too unusual as many of the staff tend to be younger and serving coffee and beer isn't a lucrative career. The problem is that people with adequate beer knowledge and who care about what the clientele want (and will pay for) seem to always end up fired. At a certain point the quality of the beer decreases as does the quality of person who is willing to tolerate this type of management. I loved this establishment, I was a mug club member for the last four years, and would come through twice a week. Now when I walk in I can't even get a beer from the newest bar manager and have to wait for someone else to acknowledge that I am at the bar. This is now how a bar/tavern should be run. If you don't care about the people who serve beer also consider this: The drafts here usually start at $6.00 and can usually run into $9.00 or higher if something of note is on. This used to be something that you could justify because of the quality of beer. Not anymore. The beer selection has gone from being craft and local to simply being whatever the distributor can pawn off on the inexperienced staff. Instead of a varied list of beer which have included gruit, marzen, saison, bière de garde... we are now relegated to the standard fare of lagers and IPA. This used to be a place of beer exploration and discovery, where you could ask the bartender about a style of beer or about what was on tap and they could steer you in the right direction. It was laid back and attracted working professionals who just wanted nice conversation and quality wine and beer. Now its just a loud unintelligible attempt to become a college student hang out. I think after this last night of being ignored by the staff and having to drink sports bar beer finally broke me. It was great while it lasted, but maybe treat the staff (and customers) better if you want business. edit 11/14/17: I stopped by after a ~two month break per the owners comment and lo and behold I was greeted by Carlsberg lager on one of the taps. Scones to die for! We stopped in for a quick coffee and some baked goods on the way to a sporting event. The coffee was delicious, and we each had a scone with chocolate chips, raspberries and perhaps coconut? I don't recall the exact combination, but it was so buttery and delicious it was like eating dessert for breakfast. They also seemed to have a great selection of cheeses and other items. Ordered a dirty chai and 2 sandwiches for my partner and I. Got the drink pretty quickly, but the sandwiches took a half an hour. I'm assuming they forgot, because they only started making ours when someone else ordered food. One of the sandwiches was supposed to be on an everything bagel, but was on sesame. There was also some herb butter type thing on it that isn't usually, and it was super greasy. I usually come here every Friday on my lunch break but might not anymore. Super disappointing. read more

During my first visit to Ithaca Coffee company on Saturday afternoon (12/19), I ordered a cup of coffee and a latte. I was offended by the barista's behavior. After she took my order and I paid her in cash she handed me my change, then picked up the tip jar shook it looked at me put it back down picked up a second ticket jar and jiggled it. I don't feel this type of behavior is appropriate.If she wants to be a panhandler she should go out to the street to beg for money. I only post this so that management understands the behavior of the employee and hopefully will correct it. read more

My local lifesaver when we are in need of some good boutique / crafts beers and ciders. The craft beer area is stocked towards the back and for a compact store, they carry a pretty decent range of seasonal beers as well as your local and foreign imports. If you are looking for your standard kegs and bud light varieties go next door to the drug store but if you are wanting something a bit more special, then check this place out. The front part of the shop also carries a range of gourmet foodie items (a bit pricey) and they serve coffee too. Good mid range selection of cheeses as well. Great service! read more

Couldn't run fast enough! I came from out of town eager to have an outstanding latte in a mug. As we sat to have a chat, the clerk started to clean up the shelf. She kept dragging the coffee cans making it impossible to hear each other. She apologized and informed she would be done soon! She could have lifted the cans to stop the noise. Seems like a good task to do after hours given that all the seats were occupied. Sure it was an outstanding coffee, but not good to hangout. Not a good value. I ordered a DJ Hot Pastrami sandwich. It costs $12. What I got was a 4 inch by 4.5 inch sandwich only 1 inch thick. There was very little meat on it. For twelve dollars, that's quite skimpy in my opinion, and doesn't come with chips or a drink. How much would I have paid for it had I seen it first? At most $8. There are many other options in Ithaca for a sandwich, and many other better values. I wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for an affordable place for a sandwich. Maybe their other sandwiches are a better value, but I won't be going back to try. read more
