They sucker you in with a relatively low rate on rent and then they subsequently raise your rent almost every single month until it becomes extremely un competitive and you're paying more than you can pay almost anywhere else. I think they hope you will stop paying and they auction off your stuff. I can't see any other reason why they would do this to their good customers and keep raising their rent dramatically a month after month after month. read more

Renting a storage space was very easy. I did most of it online, and when I went into the office, Jeremy was fast, friendly, and efficient. He handled all the paperwork quickly and made the process simple. The lobby was clean and comfortable and I am very happy with the storage unit. I definitely recommend this location. read more

If you are in a pinch a really need to reserve space with these clowns be very, VERY sure to document everything heavily. i needed in a pinch to store out of state for 5 weeks so I paid for 2 months. The contract is awful, and the service sux. I was never able to speak with a person from the actual storage location and they were telegraphing that they were shifty. I paid for my term by check and sent it with a certified letter canceling - after I got my stuff out of there. (By mail only is a requirement of their sleazy contract) They delivered in spades on my suspicions and hounded me for 3 months looking for payment on time I was not there (lock removed, notified per contract, and gone!) and they added late fees!. Non stop calls, emails, and predatory behavior. I responded in writing only over this period and the last one I sent where they finally tucked tail was this - nearly 4 months later: "In regard to your recent invoice, see the attached and be advised yet again that no further payments will be made to you. This rental was terminated back in March via certified mail that accompanied the final payment and was acknowledged by you. The certified mailing was confirmed received by your office, and your subsequent bogus billings have been addressed in writing numerous times since." Awful experience, don't use. Any reviews you see here touting them are plants. Sadly thats a thing. If you are there now, get your stuff ASAP AND prepare to be yanked around. The response below from "Emily" was just nine days after I posted my true and negative review of iStorage. Sadly, she seems grossly unaware of the actual business practices of this predatory firm, OR is the poor marketing person responsible to paint this pig of a business. To recap: I made MANY responses in writing over the 4 month period including via registered mail. Not one of those responses was ever acknowledged by iStorage. Yet, 9 days after my review, Emily is laughably "on the case". Be clear, I will never engage with this firm again, and I will be sure to make sure everyone knows what they are really all about. read more

The storage unit I reserved 2 weeks ago (didn't require a deposit) was $113 for a 10x20, and when I couldn't pay for it today (revealed reason was because they were closed for rentals and had no staff on) I was looking on the site to see the 10x15 the rep on the phone was telling me about because my 10x20 was magically not ACTUALLY reserved, and that same 10x20 unit was now $200 the day after a HUGE hurricane. Hmmmmmm. 2 week difference, a storage unit not like a flight, bus, or train ticket, After a storm where people may literally be losing their homes and trying to store what they could actually save, the price has jumped $87/mo? I am seeing posts from restaurants in Saint Pete that are not only open, but they're offering free food like hotdogs and such for people that need to help, and other businesses trying to hire people immediately to get money into struggling people's hands and get things cleaned up, and a storage place is going to raise their prices? Don't ever use NSA storage. I was taken care of down the street at Extra Space Storage, and although they had to close today at 1pm sharp they stayed a few minutes extra so we could finish in the dark because they had no power the whole time. Much better experience, and the prices make much more sense. read more

Here's an update: the regional manager, Chris, wanted nothing to do with investigating this complaint. He called me and told me he couldn't do anything, because this is "an independent location" and he has "no control" over them (BS), and he didn't know what exactly I wanted HIM to do....I told him I didn't buy this story, since he is the regional manager. If they are an independent contractor, someone at UHaul holds that contract with iStorage. He played dumb, told me "the contract is with iStorage". We went around and around. I just wanted the name of the person who controlled the iStorage contract, since it was apparent that THIS manager wasn't willing to help either (I suspect there's a bunch of "good ol' boy protection" going on here...). Finally, he got angry, and yelled, "well, if you hate Uhaul so much, don't do business with us!" And he HUNG UP ON ME. I called UHaul corporate to report this. Apparently, Chris had cleared out my complaint as "resolved"....when it was not. UHaul reopened the complaint and assigned it to a "traffic control manager". It gets even worse. Chris, the regional manager, is VINDICTIVE. When I went to pick up my truck on Saturday morning, the contract had been cancelled. ??? The nice folks at the Ace Hardware location said, "not a problem, we've got ya". They reopened my reservation and proceeded to check out the truck. Oh, NO, they couldn't! Why? Because not only had Chris cancelled my truck reservation, he placed a FLAG on my account...meaning I could not rent unless it was cleared by UHaul. The nice lady on the phone at UHaul could not get ANYONE on the phone to clear the flag. The traffic control manager wasn't answering. Interestingly enough, she tried to call Chris directly. He wouldn't answer her. However, the guys at Ace Hardware called him....he picked right up. They asked him to clear the flag...and he REFUSED. And he would not answer calls from UHaul Corporate.... What a vindictive little POS. This is a REGIONAL MANAGER RESPONSE???? Uhaul had to find a UHaul center, change my reservation to them...across town. I had to rearrange my movers (luckily they were great and were flexible). Today, I got a phone call from that traffic manager. He had NO IDEA what was going on...and had not reviewed the file on this. I explained all this to him, told him UHaul owed me a move. He said he would "get back to me". He left me a msg a while ago. Said "no need to call me back, we've refunded" the money for the move. I suspect that this traffic manager also quickly "closed out the complaint", and hasn't done one thing to resolve the horrible customer service issues here. To the lady from UHaul who responded: the complaint reference number is 3052392. I encourage you to take a look at this. Terry, Kelly, and Chris all need new jobs...not in customer service.... read more

I had a Uhual reservation at 1pm. I drove 40min to get there and Facility was close at time of reservation. When i called them they said they were in lunch until 2pm. I needed the truck for a job at 1:30pm. I lost the job because of them. It will be nice if they block reservations for the hours their in lunch. read more

I moved in for a short period of time in November, purchased the damage coverage from them, and a water leak from the floor or ceiling (they are completely at fault) damaged some of my furniture. I filed the claim at the end of November and it still has not been processed as of February 25th, I just keep getting a run around. There is no one available to speak with directly except the store manager who just says, 'I'm sending a request in to the District Manager', what a bunch of crap. read more

When I first rented there, they were able to pro-rate my month's rent as I didn't move in on the first. I was there long enough to have my rent raised twice. When I moved out, almost two years later, after the first, I was informed that I would have to pay for the entire month, even though it was the 3rd of the month. When I questioned them about pro-rating the month's rent, I was told it is only done when it is rented. All rents are due on the first of the month, and it is company policy to collect the entire month's rent, even if it was for three days. I would recommend Lakewood Storage on Lorraine Road. This is listed as a U-Haul, well not really, they rent U-Haul trucks. Went there to purchase a box for packing glasses. Employee showed us a kit and said this is all you need to pack your glasses for shipping. It took 10 minutes to pay cash. She couldn't figure out how to charge us / ring up the order, 1 item, 8 dollar purchase. Typical excuse, I'm new and can't figure it out. When we got home, realized we also needed to purchase the box. Save ourself the aggravation go to Home Depot 2 blocks west. read more

I Have had a great experience with ######- in the office in helping me navigate the slippery slopes of this corporations policies. They think nothing of raising my unit rental price every year. think nothing of me being a loyal customer for 4 years. This company would lock you out of your unit in a new York minute and even confiscate your belongings and sell them in auction If you had hard times!!!!! the employees are used as corporate dupes to impose the policies on you. Even though they(Employees) would give you their best service possible they are frightened by there regional superiors and fearfully tow the line until the next person replaces them in a year or so.. even though I have never been late with a payment. And have no complaints about the physical facilities. I would advise you find another place to store your belongings. If you are a business person like many of there customers who use the storage as part of doing business or have so much money you do not mind throwing it at a high cost and over priced storage unit, have at it then sign on the dotted line. Do anything possible to not waste your hard in money to store personal or family belonging you may never use again. This is what I have been in the process of doing myself. Good luck!! read more
