Rented a 12-foot moving truck through Home Depot / Penske…read more Arrived to Home Depot at 8:30am to pick up the truck to be informed that Penske did not drop off the truck. The solution they presented was for us to drive an additional 20 minutes north to pick up the truck - offering 50% off. (What should have been a positive). After arriving to the Penske Truck Rental and going through the process - the manager there proceed to charge us for An 85 mile move (not sure where he got that info...) after adjusting the mileage to the 15 miles put in the original request. I reviewed the invoice that displayed 12-foot moving truck for $x. When he brought us out to the truck he quickly went back inside to help the other customers before we got the chance to tell him this is the wrong truck. We went back inside to tell him he had accidentally given us a cargo van. First he tried to convince us that the sq footage was the same as a 12foot moving van (obviously it is not) , after he realized we weren't idiots which he should've realized earlier - he told us there were only about a 12-foot moving trucks in the state and they were rare to find so he was going to discount the mileage a bit. After two hours - we decided to just take what we were given and as a result of taking the cargo van had to take 3 trips. way to go Penske for making what is already stressful even more stressful!!!

A few days before the rental was to begin Tiffany called to notify us of an issue with the trailer we had reserved. She did everything in her power to get us the correct trailer which included having a driver go and pick up the trailer from another location which happened to be in Georgia. This was great news as we wanted that specific trailer for the event. She ensured the trailer was ready for us when we picked everything up. Once everything was picked up we noticed there was an issue with the air brakes and we were not comfortable taking the truck across the country as it was. We called for the 24 hour service and the individual that showed up appeared to be unable to perform his job duties at that time. We made Tiffany aware of the situation and she immediately got it handled and apologized for our experience. She made sure we were taken care of and had another semi sent out to us. We received the replacement and got everything ready to start the journey across the country. The replacement seemed to have just been checked in when it was delivered to us and Tiffany ensured that we were taken care of and able to begin our trip with minimal delays even with everything that happened. When we were on our journey to Las Vegas a check engine light came on in the truck and we stopped to have it looked at. It was nothing major so we were able to keep going. Upon return of the rental we were pleased to be working with Tiffany again. She made the whole process, even with all of the issues, so much less of a headache. If it wasn't for Tiffany's calm, collective, and professional handling of everything throughout our experience, we would not of had a positive experience to write about. I personally did not get involved until the trip back to Florida from Las Vegas. From the first moment I spoke to Tiffany I could tell her passion and dedication to ensuring every customer has a positive experience. She definitely puts the customer first and ensures each and every customer leaves with a smile This trip could have not happened successfully without her hard work and dedication to ensuring we were taken care of. Out of everything that happened before and during this trip we could have easily had nothing but a negative experience. Thankfully this wasn't the case thanks to Tiffany. We greatly appreciate everything that you did to go above and beyond for us. We look forward to working with you on coordinating our trips for years to come. THANK YOU for making a negative experience an extremely positive one, YOU ROCK!     This is the 3rd time I've been screwed around at this location, but I'll stick to this story…read more I rented a truck last night at 5:30pm. They asked my plans for miles etc and at the time I thought I'd be done in a few hours. Things take longer than you want them to sometimes and I didn't think that casual question would turn into a nightmare or a contract. You see, as I was explained by a corporate employee on the phone since i found out my predicament after hours, that unless you specifically tell them that you want the full 24hrs of the RENTAL AGREEMENT that says the rental is for 24hrs you can get told to bring it back at anytime for any other time. Fast forward to after 9pm last night after loading the truck for hours when i find out via text that I have to bring the truck back at 7:00am. Too late to call the local office. I called corporate who said I had to take it back because it was rented to someone else in the morning, but that this was not cool and I should complain. Since they opened at 7 and I was threatened with possible late charges, I unloaded my truck before dawn and got there with my bike to ride home since my kids have to stay home with my wife and I can't drive two cars. This resulted in a lost night of sleep and a lost day of work since I couldn't use the truck as I was supposed to be able to. Again, I rented the truck. I can do whatever I want with it as long as I pay for the mileage, return it with the gas I had and don't mess it up. It should be a simple transaction. Don't like mentioning names, but the guy who's badge said "owner" rented me the truck. Unlike the usual experience I've had with UHaul where they tell you when it has to be back by if it is early, I drove away thinking i had the right to drive the truck until my rental was done and to change my mind about what i was doing without explaining myself to the people i rented the truck the from for 24hrs to begin with. When I expressed my disappointment with the experience, the guy told me it was my responsibility to ask for the full 24 hrs! Are you kidding me? EVERY SINGLE TIME I have rented a truck with a short timeline, they've told me in advance until now. MY responsibility to ask for what I paid for!? Blame the customer. Great business practice. I didn't lose my cool until I didn't get so much as a sorry that was a tough turnaround but rather "you told me you wouldn't be using it but a few hours and might bring it back last night. Most people only keep them for a few hours." Most people? That is how you decide to randomly take my truck back whenever you want? What if those few hours are split up between 5::30 pm and overnight? What if I don't work graveyard shift on my projects? What if my plans changed and since i was supposed to have a truck for a rental period of 24 hrs (unless you read the fine print apparently). Since when does a 5:30pm-7:00am rental make any sense at all to anyone alive without knowing that was the deal up front? Things change. The load took longer than I thought. Apparently the Uhaul corporation decided that unless you ask them to do what they trick you into thinking is the deal on the first place, they have the right to just tell you when to bring it back at an absolute random time at their discretion and charge you if they want. This is shady at best and viscous to your customers. I do not recommend them. The "deal" will change every single time to suit their needs. Spend a little more somewhere else up front and they won't offer you to give you the time you already paid for for an additional $20 either. If you could do that, you could have given me a reasonable time frame on my rental Uhaul of North Sarasota. Boo.

I dropped off a 15ft truck and auto trailer at this location after driving 1200+ miles from Austin. I was ready for cranky workers like in Austin, but these guys are great and made my experience enjoyable. They helped me offload my vehicle and trailer and took good care of me. U-Haul should know they are assets to the team.
