This beach was like no other beach I had been to. Being the…read moreexplorative individual I am, I stumbled upon this beach which I thought would be a perfect spot to spend my birthday exploring. Urghhh not so much...!!!! This place is located in a residential area and I drive around on a unbusy Monday being a work day but, it still took me like 30mins to try to find a park just to enjoy the beach. I was thinking I did t make a good choice for a beach day. Anywho finally after spotting a person pull out from a street parking spot, finally I was able to park. Next venture i had to figure out was how to get to the beach now. Because of road blocks, I ended up having to ask 2 men at a hotel and they directed me which way to go. At this point, I'm starting to feel defeated but, I'm determined. At least, close to an hour later...I see the beach. It did had a water sprouting from the ground, a few swings for couples so nice landscaping. Then there was the beach, sadly it was not at all what I had expected as the water was muddy looking. Also the sand-flies were aggressive & everywhere. I sat on a boat for a few minutes checking out the view but, honestly on this day it was not much to enjoy beside the wedding that was about to take place. After only 10mins sitting, the sand-flies won! I left the beach and walked around and went through a restaurant which I noticed a lovely pool and a Tiki Bar next door. So thought I would grab a cocktail to start celebrating my birthday to but, not before getting bite 5-6 times by the very aggressive sand-flies. Warned: The beach does not offer the most easiest access to get to. I would have preferred going to Orange Beach in AL so, for this reason instead of staying the 2 nights I planned on staying...it would t have been worth the money. I only stayed in Hilton Head 1 night!!!!!!! Please put up signage so, people know where to PARK and BEACH ENTRANCE SIGNAGE so, 1st timers will not be defeated in trying to go to the correct area of the beach. It's not fun feeling like you're in a maze when visiting somewhere new.

This is a fantastic place for family photos and one we've used for a couple of different years now…read more It's clean easy to access well maintained by the city and we really enjoy it. Our photographer is excellent. She does a wonderful job. We're very pleased to have her. She always makes the best family photos. And this is our favorite site to do it. We highly recommend it not just for pleasure and recreation but also for photos.

11-30-24 Saturday…read more Had out of town visitors and they wanted to go to the beach. I normally go to Buerkes Beach but one of the persons in our party cannot walk far. So I chose this beach based on the high Yelp ratings that proved once again correct. Once we arrived you pay the meter based on the time you plan to be at the beach. I chose two hours. You enter the parking space number and pay $1. per hour which is very reasonable. Gorgeous beach lots of sand that has not eroded away. If it was warmer we would definitely have stayed longer here. Will be back again soon.

The sand is so fine but somehow doesn't get all over your body when you leave. The waves and water are great. Keep an eye out for high tide and low tide. The sandpipers and pelicans were our favorites to watch on our beach days.

If you get there early, you can snag a good parking spot, if not, you may have to walk a bit. There are also changing/wash stations and bathrooms, but take note where they are because it might be far. This is another one of my favorite beaches during off season, but will venture here during peak season too since it's lovely.

Firstly, my family rented the unit 167 Mooring Buoy. This is a privately-owned home that…read morecoordinates with Palmetto Dunes to manage its rental. First the good -- PD is lovely and safe. Plus, the beach proximity of our rental was easy - less than a city block. The property easily housed my party of 7 as expected. There was ample hot water, the air conditioning worked well, the keyless entry operated as expected, the kitchen dishware and cookware were sufficient and most of the house was generally clean. A few things were merely irritating: - The sliding glass door that connects the master bedroom to the patio does not work. A physical effort and a noisy rocking motion will open it enough for a thin person to slide out sideways. Once I got this back closed we did not use it again; - The curtains on those sliding glass doors are very VERY sheer. Effectively they are see-through. Anything happening in that master bedroom is shared with any guests on the patio; - The black patio chairs are peeling some kind of substance -- possibly old paint. Whatever that stuff is, it's almost impossible to get it off your legs. One thing was grossly unacceptable: a non-working freezer. Imagine 7 days in the summer at an ~$8,000/week LUXURY rental with a non-working basic appliance! No advance warning. Infuriating is that fact that the owners KNEW this. I know that they knew because there is a small card on one of the kitchen walls, warning the renter that the freezer is slow to freeze after a new guest enters and that 24-48 hours ought to be given. Well, it did not freeze in the entire week. Spoiled food, zero ice, etc. An AI search suggested I ought to be due some compensation and per my description, suggested $150 to $400 per day depending on whether the owner provided an interim solution, such as a cooler with ice or a secondary freezer. After some email correspondence and conversations, the property manager (Demetrea Thomas) refunded $550. In total. She told me the owners had placed an auxiliary freezer in the kitchen (and apparently my party of SEVEN - none of us blind) all missed it for 7 days. When I disputed this absurd assertion, she promised to credit me more if she can verify that in fact there was no auxiliary freezer. I asked her for a photo of it. Dishonesty, rottenness and possibly criminal Well, Demetrea DID send me a photo. The photo showed a refrigerator/freezer combo standing right there in the dining room, beneath a light green wall tapestry. Thankfully, among the various pictures taken by my family was one showing that very wall with the green tapestry. It is quite apparent that there is no 5' tall stainless steel appliance standing there. I shared this with Demetrea on July 7. Not a peep from her and I presume I shall not. Not sure who is more rotten - the owners of 167 Mooring, the owners of Palmetto Dunes, or the property manager Demetrea Thomas.

11-16/11-19-23 We…read morehad a wonderful stay on Hilton Head Island. It is wonderful how beautiful the island is maintained and is so clean. The beauty is no large chains really and the signage is minimal. Therefore you will really rely on the GPS to get you anywhere. Several resorts such as Disney which I stayed at previously when my son was younger. This trip Home 2 Suites. The good thing about this Island is you would be hard pressed to find a negative a bad restaurant or lack of them either. People and service are so friendly it makes you want to never leave. I can see why so many people including myself love it here. Lots to do such as the beaches, shopping and eating. As well as Golf where the PGA National is held at the Sea Pines Country Club.

Highlight of my trip to Daufuskie!…read more This is a beautiful beach! And, you can see Hilton Head Island if you look north, as well as Tybee Island looking south. The beach was clean, very wide, sand was nice and soft, good breezes, just lovely! Dogs are allowed on the beach, and parking is free at the access road. People sharing the beach were friendly and polite, and all dogs were tended to and kept under control.

The big open field was being used today by a man throwing a frisbee for his dog to catch. So much room! There is free parking here for the park and for the nearby Burkes Beach access. NOTE: I'm not sure why the Yelp Hamsters insist that this park is in Bluffton or why they have that address but according to https://hiltonheadislandsc.gov/ourisland/Parks/parksandfacdetails.cfm?FacilityID=28, it is 11 Cast Net Drive in Hilton Head Island.
