This stretch of beach is notable for having free public parking near some soccer fields which is a reasonably short walk away from the beach itself. The dune crossing is pleasant, and the beach is not a particularly special section of sand, but hey, you're at the beach. I found some occasional wildlife sightings (and plenty of human sightings). Given how much of the island is overdeveloped or private, this is a perfectly good way to get some fresh sea air.

We parked at Chaplain Park and took a morning walk from here. Not a lot of parking, but if you get there early enough there would be some spots. Bathrooms are clean and nice. The walk was pleasant and a nice change of pace from Coligny and Fish Haul. I will return here.

This beach was right down the road from the house we rented. There by the rainforest cover of Chaplin park. The beach is accessed by a long sand path that splits the swamplands behind the beach. This path can be hard to transverse after a rain, especially if pushing a bike. When I did it after a sub-tropical downpour it almost destroyed my legs--and I am a frequent cyclist. So take note. The beach itself shoots par for island beaches. Good white sand, nice waves, chairs for rent, lifeguards on duty. What make it less than others in the area are: 1.) No public restrooms in the area, at least not that I could find. Though there are some down on Driessen Beach, but that's a hefty walk north and down a wooden boardwalk about three city blocks. So if you don't live in the area it will be a hard time when the blatter starts screaming. For me it meant back to the house. 2.) Parking. Although I didn't have to worry about it staying so close others had a hard time finding a spot. There is no lot to use but about 10-places on a thin asphalt strip. After that commuters must parallel park down Burkes Beach Road. If you are staying in other sections of the island there is no reason to come to speak frankly, since better beaches are all around, but if you do I suggest biking. 3.) No cool beach bars off the sands. The lush wetlands behind won't allow for it. Though down toward Driessen and Hilton Head Beach there are resorts with patio oasis. Again, that's a walk. 4.) Cut off from the south. My first day there I endever to make it to Coligny Circle via the beachline--getting my exploror kicks in early-- and headed off. But you can't, at least at high tide. There is a tidal estuary that pours in to the swamp. It's deep and not swimmable. Other than that we all had a great time body surfing, wading, and boogie boarding the Atlantic on that strip.

The man we are renting our beach house from suggested we try Burkes Beach while we visited Hilton Head. He said it was a less crowded and more secluded beach than others on the island with ample free parking. I decided to check it out for myself and he was correct! I watched the sunrise on a Sunday AM and it was nice basically having the beach to myself. This is a wonderful beach to get away from the crowds from. I was able to meditate and have a nice quiet walk on this lovely beach!

Nice wide beach a lot space to seat, beach chairs and umbrellas rental by the city, they place their phone number on the chairs and you just call them and paid $35 for 2 chairs and an umbrella. There is a small park on the left before entering the beach small parking lot ,you can park at the park parking lot for free. The beach parking has meters and you will need coins not credit cars system yet. Other reviews said they got $200 usd parking tickets for not putting money in the metters. The park has publics restrooms and there is a shower right at the beach entrance.

This beach was like no other beach I had been to. Being the…read moreexplorative individual I am, I stumbled upon this beach which I thought would be a perfect spot to spend my birthday exploring. Urghhh not so much...!!!! This place is located in a residential area and I drive around on a unbusy Monday being a work day but, it still took me like 30mins to try to find a park just to enjoy the beach. I was thinking I did t make a good choice for a beach day. Anywho finally after spotting a person pull out from a street parking spot, finally I was able to park. Next venture i had to figure out was how to get to the beach now. Because of road blocks, I ended up having to ask 2 men at a hotel and they directed me which way to go. At this point, I'm starting to feel defeated but, I'm determined. At least, close to an hour later...I see the beach. It did had a water sprouting from the ground, a few swings for couples so nice landscaping. Then there was the beach, sadly it was not at all what I had expected as the water was muddy looking. Also the sand-flies were aggressive & everywhere. I sat on a boat for a few minutes checking out the view but, honestly on this day it was not much to enjoy beside the wedding that was about to take place. After only 10mins sitting, the sand-flies won! I left the beach and walked around and went through a restaurant which I noticed a lovely pool and a Tiki Bar next door. So thought I would grab a cocktail to start celebrating my birthday to but, not before getting bite 5-6 times by the very aggressive sand-flies. Warned: The beach does not offer the most easiest access to get to. I would have preferred going to Orange Beach in AL so, for this reason instead of staying the 2 nights I planned on staying...it would t have been worth the money. I only stayed in Hilton Head 1 night!!!!!!! Please put up signage so, people know where to PARK and BEACH ENTRANCE SIGNAGE so, 1st timers will not be defeated in trying to go to the correct area of the beach. It's not fun feeling like you're in a maze when visiting somewhere new.

Foggy day at the beach…read more Tide is going out slowly. Even with limited view, the beach was fun.
