I think this is my first time at a SC beach. The beach was clean, and the water was seaweed free. The water wasn't frigid either. It was on the cooler side so it was perfect after sunbathing. There is free parking, but it got crowded super quick. Perhaps because it was the Labor Day weekend crowd, and by 11 AM, there wasn't any parking left. And no worries about the parking being far. Just cross the street and head towards the hotel. The beach is just beyond this point. The $1.25 toll wasn't fun, but the beach was worth it.

    Riding bikes on the beach!

I've gone to this beach many times recently and have enjoyed each one! You never have to worry about it being overcrowded because there is plenty of space to go to. I always see everyone piled up on one section, while it is the same thing down the beach. People are just there for the location near the Coligny Park entrance, so if you don't mind a little walk, then you are good. This beach is also great for bike riding, it's high and low tides create flat, moist and sturdy sand that the bikes can smoothly ride on. It is great to have a fresh ocean breeze while pedaling down the miles of beach! For surfing, however, this is not always the best. Right now, the wave report is one to two feet high, not very good for surfing. However, that doesn't mean that these waves are good for nothing! Boogie-boarding is great for these kinds of waves at times, and the shallow water even way out in the ocean makes it better! You will be able to go right where the waves are formed and easily, providing a great area for catching waves on your boogie board! Skim boarding is also easy to do, provided the aforementioned moist and flat sand. Happy boarding! This is a beach that is a must-see on a vacation to Hilton Head, and is fun for the whole family!

This beach was like no other beach I had been to. Being the…read moreexplorative individual I am, I stumbled upon this beach which I thought would be a perfect spot to spend my birthday exploring. Urghhh not so much...!!!! This place is located in a residential area and I drive around on a unbusy Monday being a work day but, it still took me like 30mins to try to find a park just to enjoy the beach. I was thinking I did t make a good choice for a beach day. Anywho finally after spotting a person pull out from a street parking spot, finally I was able to park. Next venture i had to figure out was how to get to the beach now. Because of road blocks, I ended up having to ask 2 men at a hotel and they directed me which way to go. At this point, I'm starting to feel defeated but, I'm determined. At least, close to an hour later...I see the beach. It did had a water sprouting from the ground, a few swings for couples so nice landscaping. Then there was the beach, sadly it was not at all what I had expected as the water was muddy looking. Also the sand-flies were aggressive & everywhere. I sat on a boat for a few minutes checking out the view but, honestly on this day it was not much to enjoy beside the wedding that was about to take place. After only 10mins sitting, the sand-flies won! I left the beach and walked around and went through a restaurant which I noticed a lovely pool and a Tiki Bar next door. So thought I would grab a cocktail to start celebrating my birthday to but, not before getting bite 5-6 times by the very aggressive sand-flies. Warned: The beach does not offer the most easiest access to get to. I would have preferred going to Orange Beach in AL so, for this reason instead of staying the 2 nights I planned on staying...it would t have been worth the money. I only stayed in Hilton Head 1 night!!!!!!! Please put up signage so, people know where to PARK and BEACH ENTRANCE SIGNAGE so, 1st timers will not be defeated in trying to go to the correct area of the beach. It's not fun feeling like you're in a maze when visiting somewhere new.

Foggy day at the beach…read more Tide is going out slowly. Even with limited view, the beach was fun.
