As soon as you step out there you get that relaxing coastal feeling and it is hard not to slow down and enjoy it. My kids and I had fun ankle deep in the cool April water. We spent time walking up and down the shoreline, listening to the waves roll in, and just taking it all in. The beach felt clean and well kept, and there was plenty of space to spread out without feeling packed in. It made it easy to relax whether you wanted to sit back in a chair, play with the kids, or just wander along the water. The atmosphere really stands out here. It has that perfect mix of family friendly and laid back beach town energy. You see people fishing, kids playing, and others just soaking up the sun. It never felt overwhelming, just a great steady vibe all around. It is also a great spot if you like simple beach activities. Whether it is swimming, shell hunting, or just dipping your feet in the water, everything feels easy and enjoyable. Watching the waves and the open water was easily one of the highlights of the day. Overall this is the kind of place you can spend hours at without even realizing it. Beautiful scenery, relaxing atmosphere, and just an all around great experience. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid beach day.

A lot less people were out which was nice and the sunset was one of a kind.

People sharing the beach were friendly and polite, and all dogs were tended to and kept under control.

Fairly walkable (once you GET TO the island), cute restaurants and bars, touristy shops, and a nice long strip of pretty clean beachfront. A museum and a lighthouse to visit as well. Fresh seafood to eat at pretty much every restaurant. I loved my initial afternoon visit to the island, but I was enchanted by my weeklong stay on Tybee. It was beautiful and relaxing and I am glad I opted to stay on the island and travel in to the city as I wanted rather than the other way around. Though both have their plus sides!

I was staying on the south side of the island and had flown in to the area so didn't have much in the ways of my own beach-day items. A google search brought me to North Beach Rentals. Instructions were a little strange, but I placed a call (a brave thing for a millennial to do, congratulate me) and got directions and made sure there would be a chair available for me. The price was very reasonable for the entire day, and though the chairs look rustic (aka: older) they were comfortable and held up! The guys who run it, do it from their personal cell phones and venmo accounts I believe (that was how I paid), but it is a smart small business for the area, that is for sure! They also, when I arrived, offered to carry my chair to wherever I wanted it set up, do the set up, and they retrieved it at the end when you leave. So you are getting some service with the price too. I would certainly patronize them again on a future trip. It was a highlight day of my trip and mostly because I was able to rent a beach chair and enjoy myself without having to buy or lug something around with me that would then get left behind.

We packed up about 10 minutes later and he came and grabbed the umbrella before we were even finished packing our belongings. We could not understand why we were told we paid for the umbrella thru 6pm and could not share with our neighbor. it's not like they were out of setups. There were empty umbrellas and chairs ready to rent. very disappointed with how we were treated.

The Bubba Gumbos manager saw the beam sticking halfway out in the parking lot as shown in my picture and he is the one who pushed it back on the trailer bed. I have no idea why it was sticking out dangerously as shown on the picture. It was around 7 and the sun glare made it hard to see as shown in my pictures. You can see the attitude and extreme lack of care in the owners response. I was always polite and respectful so that is a blatant lie saying I was belligerent. You offer parking for 2 cars, but when we arrive with larger vehicles your solution is "pay to park". That cost us an additional $240 that we weren't planning on spending. 2. When we had issues with the condo (I.e. arriving to find dirty linens) NO ONE responded to our texts or call. So we spent our first night cleaning the condo and linens. Terrible way to start the vacation. 3. This unit is for sale. Mid-way through our trip we were notified that we needed to vacate the property for a showing the next day. We had no where to take our dog, so we cancelled the plans we had for the morning in order to sit with him in the car. After rearranging the plans, we were notified that the showing had been cancelled and we didn't need to vacate. We literally rearranged our VACATION PLANS for you and you cancelled it. I'll NEVER stay at Tybee Vacation Rentals properties again. This company has been a family favorite for over 20 years. The corporate sellout shows. Local owed goes a long way. Your corporate policies are unwelcoming and made our vacation feel like too much work. We spent $3,800 on the rental plus $240 for an additional parking space. We shouldn't have had to work.
