The classic here is the tybee beach. I mean it's a beach that's it. Not much activities going on there. We flew a kite, played ball and sand castle with our toddler. It's neat. There are people who choose to stay here instead of Savannah, in the houses there. I guess If chilling by the beach is what you prefer most it's a good option. We also drove by Tybee lighthouse and Fort Pulaski. read more

Nice Beach, Fishing Pier.... This is a good beach but paid parking is a bummer and it seems they grind the drift wood into splinter in the sand now. I've been coming here for a decade and it's always been a good spot. This time I was getting splinters thought because there was lots of wood ground up into the sand for some reason. I had to go down by the water where the ocean blasted that junk away so my little guy could play. I was torn on the rating, seems like 3 stars because of the splinters in the sand everywhere... read more

As far as beaches go, it's OK. I was hoping for blue water but nope, maybe there's too much churn from the currents or something. Because of that, it's not what I would call a pretty beach, but that isn't to say that it's not nice and enjoyable. This is only my opinion. I've lived by the Gulf and by both Oceans. I like what I like. We initially tried to go on Saturday, but got there too late (1pm or so) and couldn't find parking. We decided to hang out in Savannah instead and came back Sunday morning. The sand is whitish and soft, and the beach was clean and sparsely populated. Parking was easy when we arrived. We got there about 9:30am and stayed about 2 hours. The waves got high enough to snatch my sport glasses off of my face and sweep them away before I could react, but it was also relaxing enough to just sit and watch the water. There was a group doing yoga, and people running the beach. When we were leaving, the crowd was starting to show up, so I figure we came at the best time. Sunday morning. Other than that the town surrounding the beach is typical of a small beach town. Cozy and vintage. read more

We LOVED beautiful Tybee Beach! The beach was clean, not crowded, and we found lots of tiny shells. Many streets access Tybee Beach. We choose a side street that seemed less popular, parked, and walked five minutes to the beach. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon on Tybee Beach and would definitely recommend it! read more

I would LOVE to come back here later in spring. Even in January, it was super comfortable to walk along the beach without a coat. Some people were even sunbathing! The fishing pier and pavilion is a central structure along the beach that spans out into the ocean. Unfortunately the pier part was closed as of a month ago but I imagine it'd be so cool to walk along. It's a really picturesque place all around and clean too. You could spend hours exploring this area. They also have shops nearby. I just wish I could've found free parking -- I worried because I didn't have much change on me and the meter ran out fast. Beyond that, though, it was really nice to see this beach and snap some photos. read more

Been coming here as a kid it's always been beautiful and amazing. Not too crowded and clean. Mom was in a wheelchair the last few times the fire department has off road wheel chairs they will let you use for a deposit. read more

I call this side of Tybee beach "pier side" because of the big pavilion and pier. The other side "north side" seems to be a little quieter- at least when I visited in July 2021. There's various restaurants, ice cream shops, and souvenir shops on the Main Street. On the beach, the sand is much finer and softer than North side. We came in the evening and enjoyed a low tide with calmer waves. My 2 and 5 year old had a blast!!! The water was still warm and the warm breeZe helped Keep us comfortable. read more

Tybee did something right with the construction of the pier at the end of the "downtown" block. A large pavilion with a few snack offerings and a spot to gather as a group to enjoy the views. The pier is free to walk out on to enjoy the scenic area. I've been witness to a pretty large fish being hauled in off the end of the pier. Just a great spot to spend a little time with friends & family and capture a few remembrance photos of your time at the beach. read more

Parking, food, bathrooms, and shade. Plus music! This is the place to be when at Tybee beach. Beautiful views, and the day we went the skies cleared for sun and clouds no rain! Handicap accessible in two different ramps. Plus stairs. Also stairs to the beach. Long fishing pier you can walk on for a view and a few spots to sit. You can also rent fishing poles and buy bait. Don't forget you need a fishing license! Also. No shark fishing allowed. Sharks are around so if you catch will have to release. Recommend to visit and enjoy all Tybee Island delights! read more

Visited here the day before Hurricane Michael was expected to come near. Michael stayed quite away inland, but the wind that was being produced was beautiful. It might have made some things impossible to do, but a walk on the pier and enjoying the impending wrath of nature was a wonderful experience. Great wooden pier with a large pavilion for sitting in the shade. read more

I love Tybee. I've visited as a kid, but living so close to a beach definitely makes sunny days a little brighter! The beach is usually pretty clean and well kept, and there is a very diverse crowd of beachgoers: from college kids to families. I would definitely suggest going earlier in the day, and don't forget to bring your beach chairs. Lunches on the beach might be a tad difficult because of the aggressive seagull population, but hey--we're visitors on their turf. Feed em with caution. If you're visiting Savannah, definitely make plans for a day trip to Tybee. read more

Beach very clean and maintained. Life guards keeping an eye on everything so we felt safe. Great places to eat and shop. However, no where on the island to park without paying. Never think you got lucky and found a free spot. Always find a payment box and put your receipt on your dash of the parked car. Meter maids eat their own children. read more

Friday, August 15th, We were celebrating Tony's 52nd birthday. We were in Savannah and we hoped over to Tybee Island. We parked at the Fishing Pier and Pavilion for $6..for 3hrs. We walked around the tourist shops for a few minutes and then we headed to the Pier. This is FREE! We went on the pier to the bathroom to take change our clothing in the large bathrooms and also bought some water for our beach trip. We didn't know that you could drink BEER on the beach...every other beach I have been too you couldn't do that so we were surprised. So, Tony went back to the van to get the cooler so he could enjoy some cold beer on the beach for his birthday... We enjoyed swimming in the ocean. It was a really lovely day! The weather was great! It was a wonderful way to celebrate my hubby's 52nd birthday!!! read more

Is the fishing good in Tybee? Hell, I've never caught anything here; although I have seen others pulling them in. I guess I just suck at fishing on this pier. I suck at fishing in general. I just like cold beer and the warm seabreeze. Oh well, although I don't catch any fish when I am here I do enjoy myself. The pier and pavilion is a very beautiful spot to hang out at any time during the day. Not sure if you can go there late at night, but we've been here very late after last call to chill while the rest of the island sleeps. It's a great place to catch the warm ocean wind on a hot night. read more

My family came to town for thanksgiving and we got a beach house on Tybee. We decided to get some fresh air and check out. Up until this very moment I was going to say, wow it's so unsafe to have all the fishers right in the pier with kids swimming below.. but I see now this is a specific fishing pier so ignore me. The beach was nice and sandy. Not a lot of people were there however this was thanksgiving day so. read more

This location was one of the places we have to visit on our trip to Savannah. The weather was great although the forecast said it wasn't going to be. It's not a very large or expensive beach but it's definitely better than most. There are not a lot of vendors right on the beach with the exception of the pier restaurant. The area was very clean and it was a very laid-back vibe. Just walking distance from nice shops and restaurants in the area but like I stated I love that there was not any vendors actually on the beach. As stated parking is about two dollars per hour and if you use credit cards it's a two hour minimum. read more

A great place to hang out, eat, or fish. It's fun to people watch from the pier. If you feel like fishing, you can cast a line at the end of the pier and buy bait there. There is music and fun for the whole family. It's a great place to watch the sun rise or set. read more

This place was neat. The pier for the most part was clean. There were options to get a snack or a drink (incl. beer). Picnic tables for seating, which was a nice touch. When we were there, there were military helicopters flying by CLOSE, neat. read more

I live it here! It's where we had our wedding reception. I would give it 5 stars except the bathrooms are so gross! If I had known how bad they were I would have insisted they be cleaned ahead of our event. Otherwise it's great. The view is beautiful, you can feel the ocean breeze. Its larger than the pictures show and has electrical outlets for catered, dj, or even to charge your cell phone. Make sure to go under the pier for great pictures read more

This is the fishing pier with pavilion off the main Tybee Island Beach. Has bathrooms, full concession, is handicap accessible, and the pavilion is available for rent. Great location for relaxing and taking it all in. read more

Fishing: There were always plenty of people fishing here each time I went and it seemed like people were only catching sharks and horseshoe crabs. Shark fishing at night. Small game fish fishing during the day. One time I was there someone actually caught a little sea turtle. I was constantly getting tangled in other people's lines so you have to be super careful where you're casting. Wear plenty of bug spray at night or you'll get eaten alive but what the locals call "sand gnats". No idea what they are but they had me for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Bar: Great frozen drinks. Not strong like Wet Willie's and way more tasty. Pina Coladas were excellent. In a very public place like the pavilion they have to be very strict about ID's and the bartender there did a good job of making sure everyone was of age. read more

We really enjoyed our experience at the Tybee Beach Pier and Pavilion. There is a huge pavilion that you can fish on with interesting venues. There are a lot of restaurants and hotels right on the beach. I enjoyed seeing the beautiful views and listing to the upbeat fun music. Great for a family or couples vacation. read more

There are certain things in life I look forward to. Heading to Tybee is on the top on my list. Being born and raised in Savannah I grew up on Tybee. My first steps were taken on this beach. The pier has been completely rebuilt and is a beautiful addition to the island. read more

We went to Savannah for the weekend and decided to drive over to Tybee Island. We parked at the Fishing Per and Pavilion and had to pay $2.00 per hour (minimum 2hrs). We walked along the beach where they had swings, but they were all taken. We then went to walk on the pier which was free. We walked down the pier as we got to the end there was some construction going on at the end of the Pier. The construction workers were working on it. We hung out on the pier. It was nice. Although it seemed like the ocean water had disappeared further out into the ocean, it still was a nice place. read more

Well I am not impressed with Tybee at all. Too many intoxicated people. The public bathrooms were disgusting!!! There were about 3 shops and they all seem to sale the same stuff. Cigarette butts in the sand. Almost got a contact high from a group up wind from us. If I travelled a long way to enjoy a beach. I would be really unhappy!!!!! read more

I recently took my daughter to Tybee Beach to experience the Atlantic Ocean. There were plenty of teenagers/young adults. Lots of drinking, smoking and swearing going on. I found there to be very few famIilies at the beach. There was no changing rooms at the Pavillion only bathrooms. I would much travel up north to Hilton Head. I found the beaches to be clean and family friendly. read more

We really enjoyed our experience at the Tybee Beach Pier and Pavilion. This is the largest pavilion that I've seen on a beach. You can fish from the pier or just have a great time by watching the nature or other around you. Plenty of parking in the area (Pay Meters). Lots of interesting venues in the area. read more

My absolute favorite place to people-watch when we're on the Island. The pier is nice and wide, has a large pavilion (often with free live bands playing), and is on the South (read: 'colorful') end of the island. The views are, of course, wonderful! Great, free fun for all! read more

Gorgeous views; and a great atmosphere. Everyone visiting was friendly the Pier was very clean and well maintained. It was a lot of fun enjoying the sun and the weather on the pier. There were people fishing and even a whale festival one day visited. We spent more than one day of our trip in this area! read more

Instructions were a little strange, but I placed a call (a brave thing for a millennial to do, congratulate me) and got directions and made sure there would be a chair available for me. The price was very reasonable for the entire day, and though the chairs look rustic (aka: older) they were comfortable and held up! The guys who run it, do it from their personal cell phones and venmo accounts I believe (that was how I paid), but it is a smart small business for the area, that is for sure! They also, when I arrived, offered to carry my chair to wherever I wanted it set up, do the set up, and they retrieved it at the end when you leave. So you are getting some service with the price too. I would certainly patronize them again on a future trip. It was a highlight day of my trip and mostly because I was able to rent a beach chair and enjoy myself without having to buy or lug something around with me that would then get left behind.

We packed up about 10 minutes later and he came and grabbed the umbrella before we were even finished packing our belongings. We could not understand why we were told we paid for the umbrella thru 6pm and could not share with our neighbor. it's not like they were out of setups. There were empty umbrellas and chairs ready to rent. very disappointed with how we were treated.

The unit B108 was cute and all we needed for our stay. We overlooked the musty smell, buckling of the hall floor, and the issues with the a/c. Wednesday morning we got up and went to explore and get groceries. We arrived back and there was a construction van sitting outside the unit and workers were cutting plywood outside of the balcony. Around 2pm I reached out to the "host" and was told that this only goes on during the off season. The employee said she would look into this and someone would be contacting me. A couple hours later Keith Gay (managing partner and associated to the Savannah Beach and Racquetball Club in some way) called me was extremely rude and dismissive about my concerns regarding the hazards created. I had to contact vrbo for a resolution. At that time they offered to move us to another location. It was in another building, so we had to pack up dinner, all of our belongings, and the groceries we had purchased. Going up and down the stairs several times through the hazards of the construction site. I requested that they make it right for the inconvenience of the situation and asked to not deal with Keith Gay again. I patiently waited all day Thursday for a response, sent an email and messaged the company through vrbo. At 5:23 ( they close at 5:30) Keith Gay called me asked that I let him have his say and then I could respond. He said the construction was an emergency and needed to be done. I attempted to explain that it was obvious that it had been going on for weeks and wanted to ask why they still rented out the unit RIGHT next door and Keith continued to interrupt me. I now am working directly with vrbo only. I recommend Tybee Island but if this individual is associated to the business, suggest you go with another company.

It was nearly 7 at the time and the marina was closed so that is why I called him the next day. The Bubba Gumbos manager saw the beam sticking halfway out in the parking lot as shown in my picture and he is the one who pushed it back on the trailer bed. I have no idea why it was sticking out dangerously as shown on the picture. It was around 7 and the sun glare made it hard to see as shown in my pictures. You can see the attitude and extreme lack of care in the owners response. I was always polite and respectful so that is a blatant lie saying I was belligerent. I have all the texts between us and am happy to share. Their negligence damaged my vehicle and I ran in front of another vehicle that nearly hit the beam right after me preventing a second accident within just a few minutes. I even offered to split the repair costs to which I received no reply at all. I tried to work with him, but he treated me extremely unprofessionally. We were planning to eat at Bubba Gumbos that night and had been looking to take a boat out to Little Tybee while on our trip, but will never use this marina or eat here. I advise you to do the same.

The toilet had literal poop residue from the previous guest (and the photos I'm posting are AFTER multiple flushes, so no, it's not because someone was still there), there was hair in the bed, a toenail on the floor and the overall cleanliness was unacceptable. We ended up stripping the beds and using our own sheets (we travel a lot) because we didn't trust anything in the unit. There were bugs everywhere. I lifted a pillow on the couch and a spider came crawling out. It felt dirty and neglected, not at all what you expect when paying that kind of money for a vacation rental. When I called to report everything, I didn't hear back for HOURS. When they finally responded, they told me any compensation would have to be discussed after checkout. After checkout, of course, no one has responded. No accountability, no follow-up, nothing. The only thing they initially offered was to send a housekeeper... at 1 PM the next day. By then, we had already cleaned everything ourselves because we had no choice. To make things even more uncomfortable, the owner approached us on the balcony about a remote that had fallen off. It might have been minor, but combined with everything else, it felt invasive, like we were being watched the entire time. The ONLY redeeming quality is the ocean view. That's it. Between the bugs, the filth, the lack of response, and the uncomfortable interactions, this was one of the worst rental experiences I've had. I would absolutely not stay here again and would strongly caution anyone considering it.
