What a beautiful beach. Free parking for the holidays season. I was suprised in how many people were at the beach . Very clean beach as well. A lot of people were fishing in the pier. I would highly suggest coming here.

Great beach! Wasn't very crowded in September. Easy access via a boardwalk over the dunes.

The more southern area of this island looks out towards some of the wild and unsettled islands. Unlike the north side, I did not find much in the way of facilities, but there was a nice quiet beach to walk on. As with the rest of the island, parking is paid and I suspect that enforcement is vigorous during most of the year. Many signs were in place cautioning visitors to avoid dangerous currents.

This beach was super sandy and had sand dollars all over the place ALIVE! I've never had that. Super long so plenty of space. Went to the restaurant right along the beach as well was nice to get out of the heat and they had misters along with bathrooms.

Wow! We stayed near mid beach and it was amazing! South beach seemed crazy so I'm glad we weren't there. Beautiful sunsets with views of the light house. The last night we were there a guy caught a shark!

The beach and pier are nice. The pier sells drinks and a bit of food. Your walk from the car to the beach is short. My family and I had a blast. However. The bathrooms smell of old fish and hot piss. They are completely full of trash and are just plain nasty. That's the big and only issue I have with this place. Now. Like I said. The beach was nice. We had a lot of fun and I definitely highly recommend coming to Tybee Island

I think Tybee Island Beach is one of those places that you either love or hate. I happen to love it. I love that it's small with no high rises and packed full of mom and pops that are unique to Tybee. The pier is a nice area with plenty of food near by and restrooms. But I also love North Beach and Tybee Creek. It's slow paced and laid back. If you want lots of glitz and swank, this probably isn't the beach for you. But if you like a slower approach to the beach and don't mind dark sand then try Tybee.

Not the prettiest of beaches but it is a great asset for Savannah. A fifteen minute drive from Downtown and accessible by public transport. Imagine a bygone hippy vibe. Don't be fooled, it is prime real estate. The water like most of the Atlantic is low visibility. Depending on the season, watch out for jellyfish. The Northside, pass the lighthouse is more remote but not good for swimming. Multiple restaurants in the area with a few by the shore.

We are staying in Savannah so decided to visit Tybee Island and sit on the beach for a few hours. It was windy and in the low 60's but pleasant for these two Wisconsinites as we were the only ones on the beach in shorts and t-shirts. We drove the length of the island to Try to get a bearing and then decided to enter the beach just past the Breakfast Club Restaurant that we just ate at. Not being familiar with the different beach entry points we were happy that this one had restrooms. We didn't explore the island much but the particular beach area we were in had plenty of shells washed up for Those who who are interested in picking. It is a pretty touristy area with ample hotels. I can't imagine how busy it is in prime time as were were here in January.

Passed by a fisherman who caught a stingray. He threw it back in.

Tybee Island Beach is our family's happy place! We love that this low key beach is so relaxing! It is not over crowded and there are plenty of great things to do around the beach. Taking in the natural sites is a big part of this beautiful beach. You never know when a pod of dolphins will pop up in the water. There are sea turtles and nests, crabs popping out of their holes, and sea shells scattered about. Tybee Island offers some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets ! So pretty! Be sure to take a break from the beach and check out the shops and tasty restaurants. If you are at Tybee Island right now, you are a lucky person!

It is beautiful and beach was clean. There are beach restaurants. Going to the top of the lighthouse was fun as well as the history.

How is theCovid situation?? Is there social distancing requirement?

I was staying on the south side of the island and had flown in to the area so didn't have much in the ways of my own beach-day items. A google search brought me to North Beach Rentals. Instructions were a little strange, but I placed a call (a brave thing for a millennial to do, congratulate me) and got directions and made sure there would be a chair available for me. The price was very reasonable for the entire day, and though the chairs look rustic (aka: older) they were comfortable and held up! The guys who run it, do it from their personal cell phones and venmo accounts I believe (that was how I paid), but it is a smart small business for the area, that is for sure! They also, when I arrived, offered to carry my chair to wherever I wanted it set up, do the set up, and they retrieved it at the end when you leave. So you are getting some service with the price too. I would certainly patronize them again on a future trip. It was a highlight day of my trip and mostly because I was able to rent a beach chair and enjoy myself without having to buy or lug something around with me that would then get left behind.

Riley with North Beach Rentals overheard us discussing letting the lady and kids use the umbrella and he said No. We don't allow that. you cannot let her use the umbrella! We don't allow that. We packed up about 10 minutes later and he came and grabbed the umbrella before we were even finished packing our belongings. We could not understand why we were told we paid for the umbrella thru 6pm and could not share with our neighbor. it's not like they were out of setups. There were empty umbrellas and chairs ready to rent. very disappointed with how we were treated.

The unit B108 was cute and all we needed for our stay. We overlooked the musty smell, buckling of the hall floor, and the issues with the a/c. Wednesday morning we got up and went to explore and get groceries. We arrived back and there was a construction van sitting outside the unit and workers were cutting plywood outside of the balcony. Around 2pm I reached out to the "host" and was told that this only goes on during the off season. The employee said she would look into this and someone would be contacting me. A couple hours later Keith Gay (managing partner and associated to the Savannah Beach and Racquetball Club in some way) called me was extremely rude and dismissive about my concerns regarding the hazards created. I had to contact vrbo for a resolution. At that time they offered to move us to another location. It was in another building, so we had to pack up dinner, all of our belongings, and the groceries we had purchased. Going up and down the stairs several times through the hazards of the construction site. I requested that they make it right for the inconvenience of the situation and asked to not deal with Keith Gay again. I patiently waited all day Thursday for a response, sent an email and messaged the company through vrbo. At 5:23 ( they close at 5:30) Keith Gay called me asked that I let him have his say and then I could respond. He said the construction was an emergency and needed to be done. I attempted to explain that it was obvious that it had been going on for weeks and wanted to ask why they still rented out the unit RIGHT next door and Keith continued to interrupt me. I now am working directly with vrbo only. I recommend Tybee Island but if this individual is associated to the business, suggest you go with another company.

That alone should have been enough to leave, but it got worse. The toilet had literal poop residue from the previous guest (and the photos I'm posting are AFTER multiple flushes, so no, it's not because someone was still there), there was hair in the bed, a toenail on the floor and the overall cleanliness was unacceptable. We ended up stripping the beds and using our own sheets (we travel a lot) because we didn't trust anything in the unit. There were bugs everywhere. I lifted a pillow on the couch and a spider came crawling out. It felt dirty and neglected, not at all what you expect when paying that kind of money for a vacation rental. When I called to report everything, I didn't hear back for HOURS. When they finally responded, they told me any compensation would have to be discussed after checkout. After checkout, of course, no one has responded. No accountability, no follow-up, nothing. The only thing they initially offered was to send a housekeeper... at 1 PM the next day. By then, we had already cleaned everything ourselves because we had no choice. To make things even more uncomfortable, the owner approached us on the balcony about a remote that had fallen off. It might have been minor, but combined with everything else, it felt invasive, like we were being watched the entire time. The ONLY redeeming quality is the ocean view. That's it. Between the bugs, the filth, the lack of response, and the uncomfortable interactions, this was one of the worst rental experiences I've had. I would absolutely not stay here again and would strongly caution anyone considering it.
