Lovely beach and mini boardwalk leading up to the beach. I love the fact that they have a huge wooden box for beach toys. So smart since a lot of tourists come to town and buy beach toys but don't bring them back home with them. I love the kindness of not just tossing them out when they end their vacay! The beach, waves, wildlife and sand are just amazing. It's also a short walk to restaurants, snacks, coffee shops and souvenir shopping.

The Beach is my Happy Place! I have seen many sunrises and sunsets on the beach as well had some great naps. Coligny beach was peaceful and relaxing even when crowded. I spent all day on this beach and I didn't smell cigarette or ganja smoke, hear loud vulgar music, or annoying unruly beachgoers that have shortened or ruined my beach day. Everyone I encountered on the beach were nice and respectful of other people's space. I like that they had a lifeguard on duty during peak times. The water felt amazing and free from seaweed and debris. The sand was soft and did not stick to my clothes, bag, or chair like at other beaches. It shows that the community cares about preserving the beach and wildlife. that made it an all around pleasant and memorable experience. After dinner many came back to the beach in hopes of seeing the sea turtles hatchlings but was told by the sea turtle trackers that it may take another 2-4 days due to the sand temperature. It was pitch black as the beach and nearby businesses lights go out at 10:00 pm. so the sea turtles can hear the ocean and let the moonlight guide them back to the ocean. It is now on my bucket list to witness this in person. Free parking, great restaurants and shops in close proximity, restrooms, anf outdoor showers to get off stubborn sand. I love the fountains at the entrance, bench swings, beautiful gazebo. Two days is not long enough to explore this beautiful island and beaches but so far Coligny beach is now one of my favorites and can't wait to return.

This is one of the prettiest beaches I've been to in the continental US. The soft sand feels like flour and the water a balmy 80° in the summer. It has a nice, gradual decline. You can walk out a ways before it gets deep. It is super crowded during the day, but at sunset it's pretty deserted and just beautiful. Go at sunset. It's the perfect time to walk the beach without the mass amounts of people.

What a beautiful beach. The water is in the distance so there are dunes and just a cute area w seats and changing areas. Along with bathrooms. The sand is beautiful and white and it is pact tight so it is great to run on or ride a bike We will definitely be back!

The beach and the park leading up to the beach--I love everything about it! On a recent trip to Hilton Head, we spent plenty of time here and it's lovely in a variety of ways. The park has some adirondacks to lounge in as well as porch swings. We loved coming here and finding a vacant porch swing and reading with the sound of the ocean in the background. We also picked up ice cream at a nearby shopping center and brought it here (which, honestly, the porch swings were much cleaner than the benches at the shopping center) to enjoy our ice cream. It's also a great spot to people watch as there's plenty of folks bustling about. There is a nice long manmade walkway down across the sand to the beach and the beach itself is pristine. We rented bicycles nearby and enjoyed a beautiful beach bike ride (totally possible with plenty of packed down sand to ride on). Coligny Beach Park is a great place to spend any day! Get to it!

My family and I have been on many beach vacations but this is by far our favorite beach. There is ample free public beach parking that does get busier on the weekends but you should still be able to get a spot. It is helpful that the spots are numbered so you can remember where you parked. The beach is a three minute walk across the street and all cars are very considerate of beach pedestrians when crossing. There is a wood-planked walkway to the beach. There is a splash pad for kids (and adults!) at the entrance along with changing rooms, bathrooms, a covered seating area, and porch swings. The beach itself is very clean, and offers a communal bin of beach toys. The sand is compacted and pleasant to walk on. The waves are perfect for boogie boarding and smooth sand is under your feet when you're in the ocean. The sand is perfect for building sandcastles - it is moist and compact. There is plenty of space to play beach games or to set up a beach tent. Everyone on the beach is friendly. The lifeguard work vigilantly to keep everyone safe - there were a couple days we had to evacuate the water due to a shark sighting and lightning in the area. Th lifeguards cleared the waterpromptly and let everyone know when it was safe again to enter. Nearby there is a tiki bar, Kona Ice truck, hotdog stands, and a ton of restaurants within walking distance.

Grab your blanket and enjoy the great outdoors. From the park to the beach you can enjoy both here. Park your car and make a day of it. There's great dining options within walking distance to the beach. The water temps are perfect. Enjoy that ocean and fresh air!

Coligny beach is PACKED. I can handle the crowd idea except that there are a handful of places to park and they all seem to be Full. It was very frustrating to be absolutely honest. If the main parking area full, then expect to back track away from the beach and shuttle back in. Also from what I understand the shuttles stop at 4:30pm . That all being said. There is a decent shopping area across the street from the beach, and the area near the beach is absolutely beautiful. In regard to the crowded beach. Make either a hard left or right and the crowd thins out and it becomes a really nice beach. Hmmm. Bring a beach wagon. Oh and the men's bathroom is like sitting in a porta John in Iraq during the August summer day. It's just as dirty and smelly too.

We checked out Coligny Beach the day before to become familiar with the parking, location and options for renting chairs and umbrellas. It really helped when we arrived the next day. We arrived at the beach the next day around 9:00 a.m. Most beach chairs closest to the water were already rented by people who pre-reserved for multiple days. We gladly took one in the next row. The beach was still wide open and it was nice to come early and get an unobstructed view of the water. Rental is $40 for the day (discounted if you rent for more than one day) by paying the beach worker cash or credit. The umbrellas were very sturdy and the chairs were quite versatile. The beach filled up in the next couple of hours. The water was so warm. Even though there was so many people on the beach, it didn't feel overwhelming crowded. Everyone kept to their own areas. I had never been to an east coast beach but enjoyed the water and the fast waves! We brought our own food so we didn't have to leave the area. And parking was so convenient in the lot across the street. We left around 2:00 along with many others and we noticed another round of people come around that time. We loved being at Coligny Beach park to have our first east coast beach experience!

Really nice beach in Hilton head. It does get pretty packed but there's plenty of beach front. There are umbrellas and chairs for rent. There are also cool swings to sit on as you go through the entrance. Open daily 6 am to 9 pm. They do have free parking as well but it's limited.

A true 5 star beach! This place has free clean parking across the street. Beautiful restrooms, change rooms, rocking chairs, swings for couples, showers, and a mat to walk on that almost reaches the water. This is beaching at its best people! The waves here in June were pretty high and strong, and super fun. Lots of kids with wave boards. The water was very warm in temperature, around 80°. The water is pretty shallow, you have to walk out quite a ways for it to get to your adult chest level. The sand is medium brown and fine. The water level starts with low tide in the morning and reaches high tide in late afternoon. So, make sure you plant yourself and beach gear far enough back to allow for that. Everyone around us during the days we were there acted respectfully. It was such a great time being there.

Lovely park with beach access that works well for abled and for handicapped as there is a matting that goes all the way from the parking lot almost to the water's edge. That's pretty awesome. There are showers here to rinse off the salt water before getting back into your car, there are restrooms and they have a city-provided wifi network. Decent parking for bicycles, not as much for vehicles. There is a golf cart trolley that will bring people from the nearby university parking lot during certain parts of the day. Came here to visit the forest preserve on a Thursday morning in February. Stay on Greenwood heading…read morewest and you come to a gatehouse where you pay $9 for a day pass. We parked at the walking entrance, but there's limited space. You can also go to the driving entrance and go until you see a sign for the forest preserve. That dirt driveway will take you to a parking area near Fish Island. There are portalets there. The Shell Ring is nearby. If you start at the walking entrance, you cross some rice fields via Boardwalk. We saw some turtles and lizards in that area. Once you get to Fish Island, you might see more birds. Take the Rookery trail to see the most wildlife. We saw a great blue heron and other birds, and an alligator. It was very scenic and the trails were well marked. Signage on the roads isn't great, and it's a little confusing. You can scan a QR code for maps, but those weren't great either. The Sea Pines area is pretty large, but mostly private so beach access is difficult because there's no parking.

The parking area was quite rocky, and to be fair, it was raining a bit when we visited. There are…read moresome signs on how to navigate, but they're not very detailed, so it can be a bit of a hike if you're exploring on your own. There's plenty to see and do.... from walking and birdwatching to exploring the scenic trails and tidal marshes. It's a peaceful spot that offers a nice break from the more bustling parts of Harbour Town. Overall, it's a lovely nature escape and definitely worth adding to your day trip itinerary while visiting Sea Pines and Harbour Town. Many visitors say it's a hidden gem for outdoor lovers and those looking to enjoy some quiet time immersed in nature. Just be prepared for some uneven terrain, especially if the weather isn't perfect.
