This beach was like no other beach I had been to. Being the…read moreexplorative individual I am, I stumbled upon this beach which I thought would be a perfect spot to spend my birthday exploring. Urghhh not so much...!!!! This place is located in a residential area and I drive around on a unbusy Monday being a work day but, it still took me like 30mins to try to find a park just to enjoy the beach. I was thinking I did t make a good choice for a beach day. Anywho finally after spotting a person pull out from a street parking spot, finally I was able to park. Next venture i had to figure out was how to get to the beach now. Because of road blocks, I ended up having to ask 2 men at a hotel and they directed me which way to go. At this point, I'm starting to feel defeated but, I'm determined. At least, close to an hour later...I see the beach. It did had a water sprouting from the ground, a few swings for couples so nice landscaping. Then there was the beach, sadly it was not at all what I had expected as the water was muddy looking. Also the sand-flies were aggressive & everywhere. I sat on a boat for a few minutes checking out the view but, honestly on this day it was not much to enjoy beside the wedding that was about to take place. After only 10mins sitting, the sand-flies won! I left the beach and walked around and went through a restaurant which I noticed a lovely pool and a Tiki Bar next door. So thought I would grab a cocktail to start celebrating my birthday to but, not before getting bite 5-6 times by the very aggressive sand-flies. Warned: The beach does not offer the most easiest access to get to. I would have preferred going to Orange Beach in AL so, for this reason instead of staying the 2 nights I planned on staying...it would t have been worth the money. I only stayed in Hilton Head 1 night!!!!!!! Please put up signage so, people know where to PARK and BEACH ENTRANCE SIGNAGE so, 1st timers will not be defeated in trying to go to the correct area of the beach. It's not fun feeling like you're in a maze when visiting somewhere new.

Came here to visit the forest preserve on a Thursday morning in February. Stay on Greenwood heading…read morewest and you come to a gatehouse where you pay $9 for a day pass. We parked at the walking entrance, but there's limited space. You can also go to the driving entrance and go until you see a sign for the forest preserve. That dirt driveway will take you to a parking area near Fish Island. There are portalets there. The Shell Ring is nearby. If you start at the walking entrance, you cross some rice fields via Boardwalk. We saw some turtles and lizards in that area. Once you get to Fish Island, you might see more birds. Take the Rookery trail to see the most wildlife. We saw a great blue heron and other birds, and an alligator. It was very scenic and the trails were well marked. Signage on the roads isn't great, and it's a little confusing. You can scan a QR code for maps, but those weren't great either. The Sea Pines area is pretty large, but mostly private so beach access is difficult because there's no parking.

The parking area was quite rocky, and to be fair, it was raining a bit when we visited. There are…read moresome signs on how to navigate, but they're not very detailed, so it can be a bit of a hike if you're exploring on your own. There's plenty to see and do.... from walking and birdwatching to exploring the scenic trails and tidal marshes. It's a peaceful spot that offers a nice break from the more bustling parts of Harbour Town. Overall, it's a lovely nature escape and definitely worth adding to your day trip itinerary while visiting Sea Pines and Harbour Town. Many visitors say it's a hidden gem for outdoor lovers and those looking to enjoy some quiet time immersed in nature. Just be prepared for some uneven terrain, especially if the weather isn't perfect.
