I booked 4 surfboards and one paddle board at 8pm the night before for a 9am surf at Lahaina Breakwall, and the next day, Yoav drove up to the beach at 9 sharp and gave us water shoes (so thoughtful!) because he thought the water was a little shallow. Very nice service, quality surfboard and reasonable prices! Rented a surfboard for a couple of days on my recent trip and it was a pleasant experience. I called Ben at the Lahaina office and told him what I wanted, a specific shape and size shortboard. Since Lahaina has super small surf most of the time, he told me that this office only had long boards and SUP's, he talked to their other location on the northside and told me they have what I want at the northside location. He took my reservation and payment info over the phone and I arranged with another person to go pick up the board the next day. Pickup was at their other location in Haiku, not too far from Hookipa which had some good waves. The board was waxed, leashed and ready to go when I got to their shop. I was also provided with tips on where to paddle out and the wave sizes and swell directions to help me be safe out there. Overall a great experience. Highly recommend! read more

We stayed at an ocean-front condo in Kihei where the waves were calm in the morning so we decided to rent paddle board to try it out. We called Island Surfboard Rentals and two boards were delivered to our condo the next day and Yoav the owner gave us some basic tips and off we went! Be sure to upgrade to carbon-fibered paddles that are lighter in weight. We were able to stand up paddling within an hour so everyone had a blast. Easy to use, and once we made our online order, Yoav was super responsive and flexible - we had a bit of a complicated rental with different number of boards needed on different days, and whatever we needed Yoav made happen with just a text or phone call. Drop-off was right on time, and he picked up the boards from our hotel bell hop without us needing to be there - super easy. They were delivered right to our Air BnB around 7:15am and picked up at the same location 12 hours later. Communication was fantastic! We rented 4 paddle boards for a week at the end of November/beginning of December. We then extended the rental for 2 of the boards for 4 more days. The water was not as calm this trip as it was the last time we rented boards so we requested life vests which we got for free and Yoav gave us straps so we could transport the boards on our rental car if we wanted to search for calmer waters. The water did calm down so we were able to paddle right from our condo. The boards were great and the whole process was so easy. Yoav delivered them to us and picked them up when we were done. We didn't have to lift a finger until we were ready to paddle!He gave us a great deal on the price for the amount of days that we had the boards. These guys were great. I emailed prior to my trip inquiring about which board size (surfboard) worked for Kaanapali Point. I normally short board but after sending a a message via their website, Amir called and suggested a long or funboard. He was absolutely right about that as the waves would have been a struggle to surf with a short board. He even gave me a promo code for a discount. I booked a board for a week, he called when he was on his way within my requested time and he delivered a 10'4" board in good condition. He gave me the rundown on some spots other than where I was staying and threw in car racks and wax. Keep in mind the places near us had boards for rent for $40 for 2 hours. Had a very disappointing experience with Island Surfboard Rentals today - they were a no show and left us hanging. My husband had called yesterday to book surfboard rentals, and confirmed delivery near a beach for 7:30 am this morning, which was actually the time that the employee had recommended. (We have a rental car that can't easily transport surfboards ourselves) We waited at the designated beach, and after 7:30 am rolled around, we called the shop a few times. Finally someone answered (the same person we confirmed our rental with yesterday), and he said he had a rough morning and would meet us with the boards in half a hour. So we waited... and waited. Half an hour passed, then another half hour. We tried calling again a few times but no response and the voice mailbox was full. Finally after waiting a total of 1 hour 45 mins and not getting a hold of anyone (or hearing from anyone), we decided to give up. It would have been nice if they were more communicative, to at least let us know how late they would be (and then to follow through with that late delivery), or to cancel if needed. Will use everytime I'm on maui. The free delivery was awesome. When I first called in I wasn't sure if I wanted a 10' sup or something smaller. I told him the 10'. When he showed up he had 2 boards and offered me the shorter 9'8 as well at half price. Not a high pressure sales thing at all, he was just providing great service, said I could return either one at any time and he would credit me the savings. I ended up keeping both for 10 days so my wife and other could use. Then when we left and my sister wanted to keep one for 2 more days while she was there. He came over and picked up the one, my sister paid for 2 more days on the other one (at the discounted price since we had already had them for over a week).
