I can not recommend this service too highly. Wemade the mistake of leaving our credit card at the restaurant just before boarding, and we would not have been able to go back and get it and still make the boat. Mike, the manager, took me in his personal vehicle to collect it, and all worked out beautifully. Truly above and beyond. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. Also, if you are not taking a vehicle, this is the way to go. Easy parking, no buses. Great experience. Thanks to all. Richard

The Island Queen is always on time. It's actually rather impressive; they always leave within one minute of scheduled departure. Everything that the Island Queen does is very, very poignant and professional. The Queen itself has plenty of seats, and doesn't feel crowded even at it's most busy. For those who need a drink during the 40 minute commute, the Island Queen does have soda, juice and alcohol.

Definitely a really nice and convenient way to visit Martha's Vineyard for the day. Parking was close, about two blocks away, the prices were very reasonable, and the ferry is VERY on time so do NOT be late or you will miss the boat. The boat ride over was smooth and fast, the bathrooms were clean, and there is a small snack bar on the ship. I sat on the middle level up front where there was shade and a nice breeze.

I had a awesome experience with taking this ferry ride to Marthas Vineyard. It was easy to find, parking is close by but cash only for parking they dont accept cards so be sure to have cash. Ticket purchase for the ferry was a breeze and the ferry arrives on time and leaves very quickly so you'd definitely want to be there on time! They have different levels as well as a small bar with snacks, wine, beer and spirits. The ride was smooth and peaceful. It took about 30 minutes to arrive. We took the last ferry back to the Cape, get there like 15 before the ferry arrives back, there was way more people going back than coming.

The Island Queen is a very comfortable ship. Great views of Falmouth Harbor. The ride over to Martha's Vineyard takes only about 30 minutes. No cars on this ferry. Lots of room for people, pets, & bikes. $22 round trip. The ferry was on time with convenient times. Highly recommended!

"Cash Only?" Not Today Several Reviews state that the Island Queen is Cash Only ~ PLEASE NOTE THAT I BOUGHT TICKETS USING A MASTERCARD. I've ridden the Island Queen many times, & today was the least windy. It was a pleasant 73-degrees, & the day trip to Martha's Vineyard was most enjoyable. Tip:: On your Return Trip to Falmouth or Woods Hole, the next-to-last Ferry usually has room if you arrive 15-20 minutes early. On busy days, I suggest arriving 30+ minutes early for the LAST Ferry.

    Well behaved dogs welcomed!

Four for a comfortable, clean and quick ride from Falmouth to the Vineyard. A bonus star for helping to avoid the chaos of the SSA. The Island Queen is a smaller boat, but with a proper hull that can cut the chop which might otherwise have you reaching for Dramamine on flatter vessels. The inner cabins feature a few two tops, fours with bench seating and a standard snack counter, doling out dogs, chips and adult juice boxes. Yep, there's a plastic film on your cup o' Chardonnay, Buffy. Stab through with a straw, a la Capri Sun. Speaking of dogs, well behaved mutts are welcomed aboard. Tickets are purchased day of, and you can avoid return queues by opting for a round trip ($20 per adult, cash only). They'll suggest arriving 30-40 minutes before your departure, and I'd listen: the boat's float off on time, and prime commuter times will see a lengthy wait. Again, a smaller ship means less of a shitshow than the Steamship Authority, and as such, fewer spots. Covered waiting and a fully charged phone will help the wait pass. Once on board, enjoy the views and be docked within 33 minutes!

Island Queen! It's a decent sized boat, lots of room to walk around and great views heading towards Martha's Vineyard. Here's a fun tip. Stick your face out the size of the boat and you get a nice splash of ocean waters, but hold on tight and don't fall over! The wait for the ferry was decent I think it was about an hour long cause it takes 25-35 minutes for the ferry to get there and the same amount of time to get back. There was a food stand at the boat dock tho I didn't check it out which I'm sure the prices are quite high at tourists locations. There are also 2 vending machines for soft drinks. The thing I don't like is the parking. It is about a quarter mile down the road on a dirt lot. Which cost about $15 and about $20-25 for the ferry if I could remember for a round trip. There are restrooms at the waiting dock. It's decently clean from most public restrooms. Small line at the men's side. Huge line at the womens. Good luck!

Great way to get to the island. Parking is easy and you can bring bikes. Oak bluffs has a lot to offer as well.

Showed up and left on time...plan to pay an additional $20 to park if you're leaving from Falmouth.

We were trying to save money so we decided to it this way and I'm happy I did. I took the bus from Logan and got off at the Falmouth station where I was picked up within minutes of a quick phone call to the Hertz office. (They are quite close to the Woods Hole ferry port.) The process once I got to the office to retrieve my car was a bit bumpy to begin with because my husband booked the car reservation with his credit card and I did not have the card with me, NOR would it have been honored because the card was not in my name. No problem, the branch manager, Debora Pagani, helped me out with getting it resolved using my debit card (which is, by the way, not an acceptable form of payment according to their policy). I did not have another credit card on hand. I was in a bind so Debora helped me figure it out. I got the car but had to put an additional $200 deposit (refundable at the end of rental) because of the form of payment used. When I returned my car a few days ago, she was also happy to give me a ride to the Falmouth bus station where I got on the bus headed to Logan. Debora was professional and personable and I will definitely rent from this location again. It was also less expensive than renting on the Island even with ferry fees. Just remember that you have to book the reservation with your own credit card and present that card when you physically pick up the car.

DON'T BELIEVE the sign that says the ferry operates from 8 am to 6 pm. There was no one and no ferry in sight when we arrived at the dock. upon checking their website and Facebook page, we found the ferry was closed and hadn't posted any updates since fall of 2021. Menemsha is a pretty spot to visit, but this detour added several miles to what was already a long bike ride to Gay Head. Review updated June 16 ============= I got this message from Menemsha Bike Ferry in response to a Facebook message I sent them... "My apologies... the winter closed sign has apparently gone missing... Glad to see the sign is noticed, but know that we will start Sat - Sun weekend service this weekend and likewise next to open seven days starting the 1st of July. Again, sorry for the extra miles to the dead end..albeit a nice place to be when chosen...!" They just added this update for 2022 on their Facebook page. "2022 OPERATIONS We will splash bike ferry for service Sat - Sun June 18 - 19....9a.m. To 5 p.m. that weekend service will run the following weekend of the 25th and 26th as well..... 7 day service will begin Friday July 1st..." At least part of the blame for our bad experience belongs to Google Maps which recommended the route to Gay Head via the Menemsha Ferry which was not in service. I suggest checking their Facebook page before you try it. https://www.facebook.com/MenemshaBikeFerry

Exit the highway, drive past the parking garage and turn left onto Blue Hill Drive, and take the left on in where it says "Amtrak/MBTA Pick-up & Drop off". Either entrance at the end will work. While the left side is more direct and closer to the Amtrak counter, the right side will take you past the Dunkin Donuts. There's a waiting area, the bathrooms are by the elevator, and only two tracks. 1 is outbound, and 2 heads into Boston. Simple. Start heading out when they announce that your train is arriving, about 8 min in advance. Head towards the right if you are Coach bound. Take a seat and the conductor will scan your ticket code and tuck a paper ticket above you. Take it with you if you change seats. If you go past NYC, the crew changes, and every passenger gets scanned again. If you are ADA and need access to one of their accessible seats, there's a way to mention it when buying your ticket, so the conductor will save you a seat in advance. Two bathrooms are available at one end of the Coach car. If the light is on, the bathroom is taken and the door locked. These are roomier than those on airplanes. So are the seats, although they otherwise resemble those found in planes with the tables that fold down and seats that recline back. 120 volt plugs are available, but no screens and no headset jacks, so no music. Stops are announced, so it felt that communication was pretty good on the train and at the station. Coming back and arriving on track 2, we had to exit and head up and over the tracks, where we could go straight into the garage, or take the escalator down by Dunkin Donuts. There's an elevator as well, which will take you to the bathrooms.

First, there is a building so in the cold months, you can keep warm and the summer months, stay cool. Second, there is a Dunkin Donuts so if you do get hungry, they got you covered. There are bathrooms, and for a train station, they're actually pretty clean. There is also a large parking lot, and it is covered. I believe daily parking costs $7. Lastly, there are surrounding restaurants and stores in walking distance in the rare event you are stranded in the area. For the most part, the train is punctual, and the walk to get to the tracks are not too bad. They are good at communicating delays, and remind passengers of approaching trains. There is also a big screen, and smaller screens with the timetable. It doesn't get too loud, and the Amtrak to Washington does stop there is the afternoons. There are elevators, escalators, ramps, and stairs, so very handicapped accessible. One suggestion I would make it having benches on the tracks. When it's nicer out, it would be nice to be able to sit outside while waiting for the train, but currently, you can only stand. There is a lot of seating inside though. They also have a couple ticket windows.
