My family always uses Island Queen when we go to the Vineyard and we absolutely love it! I'm the ferry departs from Falmouth and does round trips to Oak Bluffs. It is always punctual and the ride is about 30 minutes. At Falmouth, there's a flat rate parking fee for $20 for the whole day. Staff at the parking lot, on the dock and on the ferry are all extremely nice and friendly. Round trip per adult is $27. Kids under 12 round trip is $16. Highly recommend taking Island Queen to MV! Cannot stress enough how much I was so thankful we booked this ferry to get to Martha's Vineyard instead of the steamship, which was our original plan. Happened to walk upon the ferry the day before we were headed to Martha's Vineyard. Spoke to the very nice staff who showed us the schedule and made us feel like more than just one of herd. I was happily surprised that the price was not much more than steamship authority, and the boat seemed more relaxing, and less stressful. The parking was far more convenient with the island queen than anywhere else and a stress-free event. Parking super close walkable distance to ferry as opposed to parking somewhere else and getting shuttled like the other places. Easily the best pedestrian choice!!! read more

I can not recommend this service too highly. Wemade the mistake of leaving our credit card at the restaurant just before boarding, and we would not have been able to go back and get it and still make the boat. Mike, the manager,took me in his personal vehicle to collect it, and all worked out beautifully. Truly above and beyond. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. The Island Queen Ferry is a ferry service to Martha's Vineyard (and back). The set sails from late May through mid-October, and departs from Falmouth Harbor and arrives at Oak Bluffs. It definitely feels like a mini cruise, where you can also purchase snacks and drinks. There are bathrooms on board and plenty of seats. There are many who bring their pups (needs prior approval) and their bikes (extra fee). Just note that it is first-come, first-board type of a deal, so getting there about 25-30 minutes is a must. Decided to take an impromptu trip to Martha's Vineyard from Cape Cod, so looked at options, and this looked like the best. Just 30 min ride, $27 RT, their own parking lot right down the street for $20. They recommend arriving 45 minutes before departure to get parking and check-in, which makes sense. Everything that the Island Queen does is very, very poignant and professional. The Queen itself has plenty of seats, and doesn't feel crowded even at it's most busy. The Island Queen is a smaller boat, but with a proper hull that can cut the chop which might otherwise have you reaching for Dramamine on flatter vessels. I had a awesome experience with taking this ferry ride to Marthas Vineyard. It was easy to find, parking is close by but cash only for parking they dont accept cards so be sure to have cash. Ticket purchase for the ferry was a breeze and the ferry arrives on time and leaves very quickly so you'd definitely want to be there on time! They have different levels as well as a small bar with snacks, wine, beer and spirits. The ride was smooth and peaceful. It took about 30 minutes to arrive. We took the last ferry back to the Cape, get there like 15 before the ferry arrives back, there was way more people going back than coming. read more

This ferry was really nice. There was plenty of room and many seating options including inside, outside, on top, in the sun, and in the shade. They were very timely and it arrived earlier which was great. There was a nice snack bar and everyone was nice. Island Queen! It's a decent sized boat, lots of room to walk around and great views heading towards Martha's Vineyard. Here's a fun tip. Stick your face out the size of the boat and you get a nice splash of ocean waters, but hold on tight and don't fall over! The wait for the ferry was decent I think it was about an hour long cause it takes 25-35 minutes for the ferry to get there and the same amount of time to get back. There was a food stand at the boat dock tho I didn't check it out which I'm sure the prices are quite high at tourists locations. There are also 2 vending machines for soft drinks. The thing I don't like is the parking. It is about a quarter mile down the road on a dirt lot. Which cost about $15 and about $20-25 for the ferry if I could remember for a round trip. There are restrooms at the waiting dock. It's decently clean from most public restrooms. Small line at the men's side. Huge line at the womens. Good luck! read more

I had a great experience on the Yatch. The ride to and from Martha's Vineyard was smooth sailing. I'm not huge with being on boats and cruises but it was quick and relaxing. The price for an adult roundway trip was only $22. I've looked at other boats that goes to the island and they are way more expensive than the Island Queen in Falmouth, MA. Being that this was my first time on this yatch, I made purchase for two adults (Sister and I) and asked about their bike voucher. Apparently the lady did not clarify that the tickets for bikes and paddleboard was only IF you brought your own. I asked and she said "once you get to the island, you can get bikes there." Taking her words for it, I bought bike tickets as well along with the roundway tickets. We got to the otherside only to learn that this whole bike ordeal was only if you bring your own bikes. Okay, whatever, so I rented bikes for us to explore the island. That was fun! The lady from Anderson's bike shop told me that several other groups were misinformed and she advise that we ask for a refund when we get across. Fast forward, we're ready to leave, get on the Island Queen and get back on land. I waited in line, went to the counter lady and explain to her the misunderstanding and ask for a refund. The lady was so fucken rude. "I don't have time for this, we're trying to get as many people on the boat. Can you step aside, I'll help you later." she was completely nasty. I stepped aside and allowed three other parties go ahead. When the line was clear, I went back to her and reexplain myself. She looked at me and said, "I can't help you, you need to talk to the manager." And so I did. long story short, spoke to manager and he gave me a cash refund, okay fine. I felt that this lady thought she was more superior just because she was white. I'm not trying to pull the race card but as a minority, she spoke to me differently than she did when she helped the other white parties. read more

Lines start even before that, and the boat does fill up! *Especially if sitting and/or your group sitting together is important to you - you need to show up early. Other than that - for $12/one way or $20/round trip, it's a clean, reasonably fast, smooth ride out to the islands. It's a smaller boat and would take you about 40 minutes to get from Falmouth to Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. On peak season, we understand now why we need to be there 40 minutes ahead of departure. There is a high chance of the boat being full up, and you having to wait for the next one. We barely made it for the 6:45 Sunday boat. And because we were close to the end of the line, as the boat ran 15 minutes late and so we got more late people arriving, we were lucky enough to get to board. We heard the call go up that the lines should go up so that no more people could board. Getting there and getting back, it was hard to find seating, so we spent most of the time standing. That was not very comfortable. But on the other hand, we don't know how to rush on the boat and start grabbing seats. I recommend the middle level or second floor of the boat. It's shaded and you still get a good breeze. If you head for the top floor, be warned the sun is quite strong! read more

It's hard to believe that the Island Queen has not adapted to the times and is stuck in the Dark Ages of cash and travelers checks as the only form of payment. Aside from that the Queen is a decent way to get back and forth between Falmouth and the Vineyard as long as you get there early. Some of the popular trips get sold out. This ferry does not take cars (see the Steamship Authority for that), and at $20 round trip, the fare is a little more expensive than the Steamship's. But you slip right into Oak Bluffs or Falmouth in rapid time, and the view across the water is lovely. If you are on the Vineyard as a year rounder or a long term summer visitor, sometimes it is nice to go off island for the day. Falmouth offers some shopping and dining that can be fun if you are feeling trapped on island. (This does happen, believe it or not.) Sadly, the Island Queen does not operate during the off season. Islanders enjoy going off on the Queen and it is also an easy way for Falmouth folks to get over for the day or for a longer trip. Don't forget about the Island Queen as you make your plans to visit the Vineyard or to leave it. read more

$20 roundtrip. Cash only! During the July 4th weekend, this boat was crowded and not everyone could fit on the boat. The unfortunate ones like me had to wait 1.5 hours for the next boat. The waiting area is ok, they have some seats under the shade or you can sit under the sun like I did. There is also a toilet. The boat has 3 decks, I sat on the 2nd deck but went up to the 3rd deck to enjoy some sun and to take photos. The wind does get strong and I got chilly and had to wrap myself in the beach towel. Service was friendly and I appreciated the flexibility with scheduling for tickets we bought online. On a busy Saturday, we had 12 PM tickets from Falmouth to Oak Bluffs and came early to see if we could possibly take an earlier ferry. They were extremely busy so we were prepared to wait until our scheduled time. To our surprise, after everyone was almost boarded, they welcomed 12 PM ticket holders onto the line. This was greatly appreciated and saved us the wait time. We stayed on the lower level deck. Although it was a bit hot, it was not as crowded and we arrived in good time. On the return, we came back a few hours earlier and the ferry was nearly empty. We stayed on the second level this time and it was such a pleasant ride back. It was open air and shaded. The ride was smooth, the view was amazing, and the breeze from the ocean was splendid. Again, the service was friendly and quick. We watched the captain pull in and out each time and he was very skillful at maneuvering the boat. Overall, a great experience! read more

We arrived about 45 minutes early, since we were traveling on Memorial Day and were worried about crowds. There were plenty of people on the ferry, but I needn't have worried - they can fit plenty of people on board! It was $15 for parking (which is a 2-3 minute walk down the street) and $20 for a round-trip ticket. Make sure you bring cash! The ride was pleasant despite the water being a little rough. It's nice that the first level is enclosed, as it was pretty chilly when we left in the morning. I was impressed by the number of people drinking Coronas at 9:30a. That's one way to start your beach day! I wish they had some more breakfast-y options (I was starving so I ate a hot dog), but you don't review a ferry for the food, now, do you? read more

The Queen is always on time, and everyone is always friendly. $20 round trip... and $3.50 beers to pass the 30 minutes of time. Side note ladies- use the restrooms on land. The ones on the boat are too small and the doors don't stay shut when the boats rocking.. Hoping you can avoid the awkward grab of the door handle while trying to get yourself together I experienced.
