    Island Noodles with Teriyaki Chicken
    Lauren F.

So. Good. I tried these at the Columbus Food Truck Festival and they were great! The line was crazy long, but moved fast so don't be deceived by the long lines. They were only offering the Island Noodles with ($10) or without chicken($9), so I got the Island Noodles with Teriyaki Chicken and the chicken was very flavorful. The noodles had a great garlic and soy sauce flavor and there was also broccoli, snap peas, squash, spinach, carrots, and sliced mushrooms mixed in with the noodles. I have never heard of or seen this food truck before, but I hope I run into them again in the future. 100% worth the wait!

Great noods! This place has been on my bucket list for years. I just haven't been able to catch them. They aren't at any particular location despite the address being listed on here. You can find them set up at many of the festivals during summer. It truly sucks because COVID-19 has canceled them all. Luckily they are still popping up at some of the local breweries. Best way to find them is through their Facebook page. It's so fun to watch them make the noodles. They throw everything in a huge wok and then flame it up. Pro tip: all they serve is noodles. You can get them with or without chicken. It's great either way. Definitely check it out if you haven't already.

I like yet another food truck since finding out about Island Noodles. It has a limited menu focusing on noodles of course. The influences seem to be Asian, Caribbean, and whatever. It has a lot for a portion so be hungry. The service is much faster than at many other food trucks in Columbus probably because of the limited menu. I had something from the truck when it was at Comfest. It had a choice of noodles with meat or as vegetables only. The container was filled with large Soba noodles and lots of fresh looking vegetables. It was $8 for the big container. This was a pretty good value. It wasn't so bad like some of the other vendors there waiting in line. They were in part of the less crowded area so it was pretty fast to get something there for once. It's also popular at the Columbus Food Truck Festival. The lines there are ridiculous. It was one of the most popular trucks there so it was always busy. They still managed to keep the line moving. It made it one of the more enjoyable trucks at the festival. They were our favorites there. I would say to visit Island Noodles if they're around. It's much better food and service for not too much. The staff was very fast and friendly.

Island Noodles was a vendor set up at Bunbury. I was so excited to see noodles! They only had one variation, chicken teriyaki. I would have given 5 stars but there were whole uncooked baby carrots and some extra large veggie pieces in my noodle batch. Completely messed up the vibe. Otherwise these noodles are on point. They are a bit thin like angel hair pasta but good nonetheless. The bok choy, zucchini, and broccoli were cooked perfectly. I'd like to have seen smaller pieces of red pepper, it was still uncooked and would have been nice to have it smaller so it would have been cooked and the flavors mesh with the other ingredients better. The chicken was moist and just fell apart. The dish wasn't overly sauced either. Really a great combination minus the large chunk carrots. Those need to be cut in thirds at the very least. My husband grabbed one and filled his with sriracha. I wish I'd seen it on the table, definitely jelly. I loooooove spicy food!

Veggie noodles. This is like a box of holding. A LOT of good food packed in there.

I heard rave reviews about this stand during Gen Con, that the lines were long but moved fast, and the food was delicious and cheap. This was totally accurate. The take-out container looks small but packs in a lot of food. I bought the veggie noodles for $8 (the other option, teriyaki chicken, was just a buck more). The description says they include 21 vegetables, and wow, it is a great variety. I didn't expect things like sweet potato in there, and it worked so well! The veggies were huge, too.

Enjoyed this at the NC State Fair. Delicious.

When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

What makes this dish even more special is after a friend told me about the Chinese folktale that explains the origins of the Yunnan crossing noodle soup. It was supposedly created by a wife of a scholar who began to prepare the soup and ingredients separately and crossed a bridge every day to bring it to her husband (who was so engrossed in his studies that his food would get cold) so he could eat his noodles fresh and hot.
