Update: 30 Dec 2017 How about that?!?! Island Nails have remodeled their salon! There are new pedi chairs and brand new nail tables. There is a very nice display cabinet to show all of their nail colors. Today's wait time was not bad considering it's a Saturday and New Years Eve EVE. The weather is much cooler in FL now. It is still important to drink plenty of water and take care of your feet and hands. Just bring flip flops with you so you don't mess up your fresh polish--or select GEL polish, which hardens into a beautiful, glossy finish. Happy New Year everyone! read more

I was a walk in. I read the price chart for a simple acrylic fill. $35.00 . After finishing she said "57".. .. I said for what??? It took 30 minutes or less. A man said 30.00 for gel polish! Pedicure experience was wonderful, the chair was very comfortable and the quality of the work was excellent. Gel manicure is sadly not the same. I actually went to another salon (where they charged me less and the result was much better) to have them fixed because they were so bad. I chose a light pink and it looked as though it hadn't been used in a while. Pigment wasn't evenly dispersed and I ended up with a streaky and generally bad looking manicure...which they didn't even do the manicure service. All they did was very roughly take off my old gel and put on new. No cutical clipping or the usual process of a manicure. The salon itself is very clean and the staff is very polite, however I would not recommend. read more

First time here wasn't a great experience. I walked in for a gel pedicure & was seated. Was not told there would be a 30 minute wait before I was seen. But I figured it out after 15 minutes it was because they didn't have someone to do my nails at the time. We'll just say there will be a wait before sitting. So now I'm waiting until someone who came in after me to get my toes painted. Wouldn't recommend coming here. Waste of time & money. I was in the salon from 11:40am-1:25pm & was with a person for maybe 25/30 minutes the whole time I was here. Dropped in without an appointment for manicure and pedicure. Color choices weren't great. I explicitly asked if the color I chose for my pedicure was available for my manicure in gel. I was told yes, and once in the manicure station was told they had colors that were close. Yeah, not so much. The older woman who worked on me provided an okay pedi, horrible fill job and messy polish. I don't understand how the underside of your nails aren't cleaned up after polish is applied unless you ask. For the price I paid for services, I would have expected a much better quality of work. My experience was less than this one star. The gentleman i believe his name is andy did my nail repair and his demeanor was as if I owed him money or something. I had a nail repair with chrome. He didn't smooth the nail so there's no bump or hump to my nail. The acrylic is thick and i asked several times to please fix it. He never instructed me to place my hand in the uv gel lamp but instead tried to grab my hand and shove it inside. Once he assumed he was done said nowhat do you want. I gave up ans and just asked to pay the $12 to repair and polish it which is highway robbery. POA STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

Not impressed. Went in a couple minutes after they opened to get a pedi. Only two people there but still end up waiting for 15 minutes. Which is surprising, but no big deal. I get seated in the seat and the guy put the water on. I asked him about 5 different times to make the water warmer. He would adjust it but then turn it down. Pedicure seats are separated and they don't have options for types of pedicures. It's more so one type (which is nice!), a scrub and hot towel. I needed a winter manicure anyway with all of this cold weather drying out my poor cuticles. I wanted a natural look today. Island Nails is also newly redecorated and it is beautiful inside. I moved to the area recently, and was looking for a new place to get my nails done. Luckily, I came across Island Nails! Not only did I love the great reviews they received, but I also loved how close to my house this salon was. I first came in a couple of weeks ago to get a pedicure and an SNS dip manicure, while my mom got acrylics. We both loved the end results! Andy and his crew were fantastic! This was my first time going to a salon since the shut-downs and I was so impressed by the level of cleanliness! The entire staff took great measures to ensure they are meeting CDC guidelines and standards. They're operating by appt only, but are maintaining great cleanliness and social distancing, keeping their clients safe! After a great experience the first time, I decided to come back. They did not disappoint! I got a beautiful manicure again by Andy and not only did he remember me from last time, but made me feel comfortable and welcome in his show the entire time! Award for worst customer service goes to Island Nails. I called at 5:40 today which is a Sunday. Thinking they would be closing at six to ask if they could still fit in a full set. The gentleman on the phone said yes if I come now because I live very close. I called again just to make sure I was turning at the right place. And the guy was a little rude on the phone.no big deal. When I got in there with my daughter I asked him if he could do her nails. She is 13 years old. He asked me three times in a row her age. Then he asked if I was her mom I said yes and then he had her sit down so he could start. I told him that the place smelled good and he just made a noise at me . For some reason he was angry I don't know if it's because it was nearly closing time and he wanted to get off early or what. But the sign on the door so they don't close till 630 and the door was already locked when I got there before six. I asked how much was the Joe polish and he replied 30. I assumed it was 30 with the fill and polish. So I picked out a gel color for her and set it on the counter. Then he said it's 30 are you going to get gel polish. I said yes here's the color. He said it's $30 extra. I was a little surprised so I asked him do you mean $30 on top of the fill? And he literally screamed at me "yes $30 for gel polish you asked me and I'm telling you it's $30 for gel polish!" I responded to not raise your voice at me please. And then he started repeating himself about how he's raising his voice and he said it's $30 etc. I just couldn't deal with it so we left. read more

I cant believe the technician finally came up front...after leaving me WITH OUT acknowledgement for 30 mins...and actually with an attitude yelled "Come on!!" As if he had been waiting on me! Went in with appt to see the same girl who did my nails twice before. I prefer to not soak my nails to remove gel. The girl knew what I wanted since she'd done it twice before. The man who appears to run the place was mopping. He overheard me remind her about my preference. For some reason he stopped what he was doing, barged into our discussion and completely humiliated me, bullied me, accused me of having a bad day for insisting my nails be done the way I wanted and upset me so much I was almost in tears. The entire shop was gapping at us! I left and I will never ever step foot in that shop again. I can also say that this same guy, came up to me another time after his client just left and proceeded to tell me details about his clients health issues. I guess personal info is fair game when you tell Your manicurist, but he was not kind in his telling. And was very demeaning towards his client. Completely unprofessional! I've never felt so dismissed in my life. I walked in and signed in and picked my color. There were 4 people being worked with. While I was waiting 4 more people walked in. All were greeted and asked what they wanted before I was. A couple that came in after me were asked to sit in pedicure chairs before me. This place is overpriced. I went there to get a pedicure, tell me how this pedicure cost $57??? Other places charge $45-48 for a gel pedicure and mind you it wasn't even good! Backstory, I had gel toenails on so this lady was suppose to take it off obviously. This woman was soaking and filing my nails right, while she was filing she was scrapping my skin off in the process!! And I kept saying it hurts! Then she proceeded to put some cream and alcohol on my toes so I'm in real pain because it burns! My toes wasn't cute and they were bleeding! My second time I got charged $10 for a soak off but didn't get an actual soak off. All they did was use an acrylic nail to rip my acrylic nails off. If that was the case I could've done that myself. I prefer soak offs so I don't damage my nail bed . I'm just flabbergasted. Never again. read more

Ugh is what I say when I think of this place. My friend and I heard good things about the Fleming Island location and were in desperate need of some relaxation, so we decided to give Island Nails a try. Everytime I walk into a nail salon during the week, I've always been taken care of right away. I know it's smart to make an appointment, but I never thought it was needed. I thought it wasn't needed here either because it wasn't very busy, but not the case. My friend and I walked in and immediately someone helped us. We told her we were there for pedicures. The nice lady helping us said to pick our polish and come on back. They have a pretty good selection of colors and also have gel nail polish. So we pick our pretty shades of fuscia polish and walk to the back. They don't have very many chairs and definitely don't have many people working. There was only one other girl getting her feet done, so we figured there would be staff flocking to our feet. We sit down and the nice lady helping us sits down and starts doing my friend's feet. She then turned the water on for my feet to soak. I sat there relaxing and waiting for someone to come do my feet. Well, about 15 minutes later...... Still waiting. Nobody said a word to me, so my friend and I sat and talked, relaxed. Well, 30 minutes later....... Still waiting. I said out loud, 'I guess I'm not getting my feet done until my friend is done?' I didn't receive a reply. Maybe the nice lady didn't hear me or didn't understand English. Who knows. So after about 40 minutes of waiting and my feet turning into raisins, the other girl getting her pedicure was done. Hooray, it's my turn!! At this point my friend was done as well, so now she gets to sit for another 40 minutes and watch me get my pedicure. So much for getting home at a decent time. The lady did an ok job. Nothing special was done with the pedicure. It was pretty basic. I don't feel very confident that the polish will last as long as other pedicures I've had, but we'll see. A top coat wasn't applied at the end and I can already see ridges in the polish. The price was the cheapest I've paid. It was $22. Basically you get what you pay for. Definitely was not happy with the communication and the pedicure was whatever. There are WAY too many nail salons in jacksonville to even bother trying this one again. If you're looking for good customer service and a relaxing experience, try the Nail Time on Baymeadows. It's amazing. read more

Horrible experience! I only went in to get a pedicure and it was one of the worst experiences ever. When I first went in, there were only 2 people being serviced and I still had to wait about 15 minutes before they started on me. Finally the older lady came from the back and started on my pedicure. Once she started it took her an hour and a half to finish and I only wanted a basic pedicure with white polish...that's it. She didn't do the cuticles and the white polish was very clumpy and thick.
