Best breakfast on the island and reasonably priced. The outdoor seating is ideal because the inside is noisy and hot, but I suppose that isn't their fault. Great employees, and the only problem is the wait times can be quite long sometimes. read more

This place is GAS! So good. There coffee and fresh squeezed OJ are amazing. I'm a fan of almost everything on the menu. Went here for lunch and had an amazing meal with huge portions and a great price (2 of my favorite things). They were very busy for the off season but we were still seated right away and taken care of quickly by friendly and attentive staff. My boyfriend and I had some of the best salads. He got a giant Cobb salad that comes topped with turkey. I got the spinach salad with a delicious mound of fried goat cheese, bacon bits, and a delicious vinaigrette. The juice is overpriced the eggs Benedict the Benedict was very nasty the fresh squeeze juice to serve the warm the pancakes were small the Potato pancakes were very old tasting the muffins tasted like they were day-old. Service was horrible and slow. read more

I am rating it one star only because we have had great times here over the years and we come eat here every summer. This was our last day and it has went down over the years. I was here outside with 7 other girlfriends, we were told the big table outside was the only spot to sit and we wanted inside. Second, I ate my friends avocado toast and half way through we realized it was her rye toast. I wouldn't mind getting a new one but our server never returned to our table for 20 mins until we were finished and the restaurant was entirely empty. Just sad to watch it go downhill. read more

Wait staff is always so pleasant. Have not had a bad meal here ever. Good for quick lunch and an AMAZING breakfast. You have to try the Panko Crusted Eggs Bene! I have yet to try the dinner, but something tells me I won't be disappointed. read more

The new outside seating is hands down the best available seating, the cramped, very loud seating inside is a real mood killer. There's a small handful of times a year when you get a meal that was a home run. This was it! Seven of us sat down for a birthday supper and the veal was 10/10. Chicken liver appetizer ( which I would never order) was put on the table for all and it was unexpectedly amazing. Short ribs were 10/10, service 10/10. Highly recommended. read more

Kudos for the food and the service, both excellent. Although basically a breakfast and brunch place, Island Kitchen is open for dinner offering limited, but carefully crafted, entrees. My wife and I both had the striped bass special, which arrived on a bed of creamed corn and rice, with a touch of kale...very tasty and satisfying. A Caesar salad appetizer was very good and arrived promptly. The limited wine list offered a select choice of wines by the glass and by the bottle. Sadly, the evening was spoiled by a group of cackling women nearby who got louder as the flow of wine to their table increased. The rather small dining area could not absorb this excessive rudeness. The restaurant should make an effort to somehow curtail this inconsiderate behavior. Dining outside on the patio might be a quieter option. That said, we will return again to try the breakfast or lunch offerings that look highly creative. if as good as the dinner fare, it should be a delightful dining experience. read more

Visited as a guest in the Island Kitchen restaurant over the summer season and came back for a breakfast over the weekend off the season. Both visits were Very pleasant . Food is consistently good, and this is one of the only places on island where you can walk in and not spend and arm and a leg. Dinner for 4 tonight on the patio. Calamari and Caesar salad appetizers were great. Two of us had the sockeye salmon special. It was terrific. The striped bass entree was a big hit. The fourth entree was the veal dish which is a house specialty. The portions were amply, so we all split the triple chocolate mousse cake. Wonderful. Don't question it-- just get The Animal. Our group had huevos rancheros, eggs Benedict, and chocolate chip pancakes and everyone cleaned their plates. The syrup tastes like real maple syrup. Delicious! But hands down, The Animal is the best! We will definitely be coming back. read more

Although this spot is know for its breakfast, we visited two days in a row for the steak salad for lunch. A nice mixture of greens are topped with roasted asparagus and red peppers and steak prepared to your liking (not a huge quantity, a "just right" quantity of steak for lunch). The mixture of flavors in the salad is great but the amazing part is THE DRESSING! On the menu it is described as a red wine vinaigrette, but it is light and has a bit of sugar and maybe some Herbs de Provence (but it is creamy in color, so I cannot figure out the red wine part...). Lovely wait staff, a busy restaurant for sure, but it felt lively and vibrant, not overwhelming. Again, with all the lovely food offerings on the island, we decided to have lunch here two days in a row we liked it so much. read more

This is a hidden gem. First of all the staff here is amazing. We were a party of 11 which included 4 young children. They were incredible. They have a kids menu and all the children are every bite. The food we all ordered was absolutely delicious. The calamari and the shrimp Shumai as appetizers were fabulous. My cousin and I had the angus burger for dinner and it was cooked to perfection and scrumptious. French fries were hot and crisp (its one of the things that bothers me the most when not done correctly). The pappardelle with mushrooms was as good as a four star, the blackened salmon fabulous. After dinner we walked over to the other gem and went to the ice cream store. There are three on the island. The Juice Bar in town on Steamship Wharf and Jackie and Charlie's also in town. The juice bar is iconic but frankly standing in line with four kids under five at 9:00 isn't a dream. Island Kitchen ice cream is better IMO and the lines aren't as long (at least this summer!). Solid preparations and friendly service without the pretentious vibe prevalent on Nantucket. The atmosphere is casual, chill and family friendly. Food will not be a gastronomic revelation, but I'm not sure that's the point anyway. It's just simple, well-cooked preparations, with perfectly cooked fresh fish and meats. Only disappointment was the meunière sauce on the cod because it lacked the required zing of lemon and the butter was not browned. Will definitely be back and highly recommend! read more

Horrible hostess with long dark hair. Sorry, we waited for 10 minutes and no one didn't even ask us why we were there. Service should be better, at least talk to the guest. I understand that's everyone is busy, but at least talk. We live the food and everything here, but because of such a service 1 star. Good off season breakfast place. read more
