three plates of food on a table
    Christine T.

Vegan options such as basil tofu, pad Thai tofu and mushroom fried rice. We ordered basil tofu which came with tofu, carrots, snap peas, peppers, onion and zucchini. Mushroom fried rice very good! Very flavorful, fresh and quick friendly service. Would definitely return!

    Awful pad Thai

Excellent food. Just as good as it was a year and a half ago, when I tried it for the first time.

Food is very inconsistent, depends on the day if it's good or not. Service is good, but restaurant doesn't smell clean.

I got the L2 Lunch Special ($9.95) which consisted of General Tao Chicken, plain fried rice and an egg roll. My husband got the C4 Combination Plate ($11.95) which was Sweet and Sour Pork, Pepper Steak, plain fried rice and an egg roll. The General Tao Chicken was excellent. It had lean chicken breast meat, no fatty nor gristley bits. The sauce was sweet and tangy, but not spicy at all. I would have liked a bit more spiciness to it. It also doesn't come with any vegetables. I saw some pictures that it came with broccoli, but I guess that's only if you buy it a la carte and not in a combo (?) They weren't kidding around when they said "plain fried rice" it was literally rice fried with soy sauce, absolutely no vegetables or anything else. I thought they meant like no protein in the fried rice, but at least some peas or carrots. Nope! So needless to say, I found the rice very boring. It was ok, not too salty, but really unexciting. I found the egg roll disappointing. It was filled with mainly bean sprouts (which I hate). It had some carrots and cabbage in it as well. I'm pretty sure it didn't have any meat in it, or if it did, it was very minimal that I couldn't see nor taste it. However, it was hot and crispy. If you don't hate bean sprouts, you'll probably like it more than I did. I had a taste of the Sweet and Sour Pork and Pepper Steak. The Sweet and Sour Pork was similar to the General Tao Chicken, but was pork instead of chicken. The Pepper Steak had vegetables in it, which was great. It had bell peppers (red and green), onions, and carrots. The beef was tender and the vegetables were still a bit crunchy which I liked, I don't like it when they are too mushy. Service was courteous and efficient. My food was ready in like 10 minutes. It's mainly a takeout business. There is a counter inside facing a wall where you can sit and eat, but I would say that would be out of necessity only because the place is small and you would have people coming in and out to pick up orders, so not the best environment to eat in. At the time of our visit, due to Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions, you couldn't eat in anyway. The restaurant is in a plaza. It's right between Popeye's Chicken and Freedom Mobile. Lots of free parking. It's the only Chinese food I've had in Brockville, but I'd say it's a very good choice.

We weren't given enough spoons, when we asked for more they said yes but never brought them. We ended up sharing spoons.. We ordered drinks that never came and at check out were still on the bill we had to ask to have it removed. We ordered 5 pho. 2 adults, 3 kids. for the kids we asked just noodles and meat. instead we got noodles, green onion, cilantro, no meat. ended up picking out all the chopped veggies in their bowls. It just wasn't what we ordered but we didn't complain, whatever. the broth was bland beyond belief. we eat lots of pho, syracuse has a good vietnamese spot, but this place in watertown is pathetic. bland soup for a pho is inexcusable. Inattentive servers. we ordered bahn mi in addition, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. none of us finished our meals, but we didn't complain, we paid full price, we didn't want to be viewed as if we were just trying to get free food/discounts. once we got up from the table it took a solid 5 minutes for anyone to attend to us to settle the bill. it was not particularly busy. this was my 3rd and last visit. never again. no bean sprouts, no basil, no citrus, not enough spoons, didn't bring us our full order, brought us the wrong orders. spent 10 minutes picking out green onion and cilantro from toddlers orders. felt like we were working there. you can easily hit up the asian market in water town get a pack of pho seasoning and make a better tasting meal for less money at home. for the price, it should be good. it isn't. the hahn mi veggies are cut my sometime who has never had bahn mi. cuts of veggies like an italian pizzeria salad. cuts of carrots and cucumber so large they aren't even pickled.

The Long Version: My husband and I got takeout from The Hot Wok for dinner when we were staying in Perth. All their food is packaged as takeout, but they do have seating where you can eat your takeout food, just no table service. We decided to take the food back to our hotel room instead. We got the Bang Bang Chicken ($18.25) and the Shrimp Pad Ki Mow ($19.50). I called my order in and we walked there to pick it up. I was told it would take about 30 minutes to be ready. (They make everything to order.) We arrived after 30 minutes and our food was ready as promised. The lady on the phone was very courteous and I think she was the same lady at the pickup counter. The Bang Bang Chicken was listed on the menu as "Lightly breaded chicken tossed in a creamy honey sauce, on a bed of greens." It did not mention sesame seeds were sprinkled on top and I forgot to say "no sesame seeds" with my order so I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't really eat this dish, but that was on me. I was able to manage a few bites that didn't have sesame seeds on them (I can handle mild contamination) and I found the meat a bit dry, but the outside was pleasantly crispy and the honey sauce was pleasant. The "bed of greens" was actually raw shredded cabbage and carrots in a creamy sauce. I was asked how spicy I wanted this dish and I said medium, but it wasn't spicy at all, like not even mildly spicy, lol. Don't worry, the food didn't go to waste, as my husband ate it. The dish came with a small serving of steamed white rice. The rice was good, not too mushy nor too dry. The Shrimp Pad Ki Mow was tasty, albeit a tad too oily for me. It had 6 large shrimp, which were all properly deveined. They were plump and juicy. The dish also had broccoli, cauliflower, onions, carrots and Bok Choy. I was happy to see they were very generous with the vegetables. You have the option of having this dish with rice noodles or rice, I chose the noodles since that's what traditional Pad Ki Mow is. However, the noodles used were rather thin, like even thinner than traditional Pad Thai noodles. I like the wider noodles that typically come with Pad Ki Mow (or as I usually know it as, Pad Kee Mao). I was also asked what spice level I wanted this dish and I also said medium, and for this dish, it was a true medium as it had a spicy kick to it. They have their own private parking lot in front of the restaurant that is shared with their next door neighbour Jersey Joe's. Review #42 (2025)
