My husband and I got some takeout at Lee's Kitchen for a picnic at a nearby park and overall we…read morewere pleased. I got the L2 Lunch Special ($9.95) which consisted of General Tao Chicken, plain fried rice and an egg roll. My husband got the C4 Combination Plate ($11.95) which was Sweet and Sour Pork, Pepper Steak, plain fried rice and an egg roll. The General Tao Chicken was excellent. It had lean chicken breast meat, no fatty nor gristley bits. The sauce was sweet and tangy, but not spicy at all. I would have liked a bit more spiciness to it. It also doesn't come with any vegetables. I saw some pictures that it came with broccoli, but I guess that's only if you buy it a la carte and not in a combo (?) They weren't kidding around when they said "plain fried rice" it was literally rice fried with soy sauce, absolutely no vegetables or anything else. I thought they meant like no protein in the fried rice, but at least some peas or carrots. Nope! So needless to say, I found the rice very boring. It was ok, not too salty, but really unexciting. I found the egg roll disappointing. It was filled with mainly bean sprouts (which I hate). It had some carrots and cabbage in it as well. I'm pretty sure it didn't have any meat in it, or if it did, it was very minimal that I couldn't see nor taste it. However, it was hot and crispy. If you don't hate bean sprouts, you'll probably like it more than I did. I had a taste of the Sweet and Sour Pork and Pepper Steak. The Sweet and Sour Pork was similar to the General Tao Chicken, but was pork instead of chicken. The Pepper Steak had vegetables in it, which was great. It had bell peppers (red and green), onions, and carrots. The beef was tender and the vegetables were still a bit crunchy which I liked, I don't like it when they are too mushy. Service was courteous and efficient. My food was ready in like 10 minutes. It's mainly a takeout business. There is a counter inside facing a wall where you can sit and eat, but I would say that would be out of necessity only because the place is small and you would have people coming in and out to pick up orders, so not the best environment to eat in. At the time of our visit, due to Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions, you couldn't eat in anyway. The restaurant is in a plaza. It's right between Popeye's Chicken and Freedom Mobile. Lots of free parking. It's the only Chinese food I've had in Brockville, but I'd say it's a very good choice.

Stand outs were the egg rolls which were perfectly crispy with a nice saucy filling and the spare ribs which were tender and flavourful. We also really enjoyed the chow mein noodles and the egg foo young, which were well prepared and tasty. The service was friendly and they took good care of our group as well as the other diners. The restaurant itself was clean and pleasant, and it's a good place for a relaxed meal. Brockville's King Street is always an interesting walk and it was nice to include this traditional small town Ontario Chinese restaurant which has been here for decades in our experience. Look forward to eating there again.

This now turns out to be my favourite, out of the 2 (YES, two!) Chinese restaurants located in the…read moresmall town of Prescott - which has roughly 5,000 people. Both have run similar models since the 3+ years we have lived here, and probably since COVID started in 2020: this model being take out only. By offering this model, they have managed to keep both locations in business, and the citizens of Prescott sane. I have heard that both were operated by... brothers? Cousins? Not sure, but they were related. I used to like the other restaurant better, until recently, when both opened for dine-in as well as continued take out; I had ordered a dish at the other place that I had liked better than here (however, to be fair, I cannot know recall what that dish was! Time to sample and compare again.) On the other hand, I have also heard that both locations have recently changed hands, so we shall see what the future holds. We recently had cause to dine in at this restaurant, and they were accommodating for our group of 11 or 12 people. Service was pleasant, if a bit flustered; one waitress was serving all the guests in the restaurant. Once the other diners were taken care of, and her attention was focused on us, things went more smoothly. The food was good, and the service was attentive from this point forward. There were even a few bits of the meal packaged to take-home (so I guess Chinese take out never really goes out of style!) I loved the decor here; we were in the 2nd dining room, where our chatter would not interfere with the other guests. The space is nicely decorated. There's even an old fireplace in this room. I look forward to going backnto dine in.

Well, let's just say, never again…read more While this is a bustling business, it was very disappointing. Service was fine, but the food is awful. I tried the coconut shrimp, prime, rib, grilled steak, meat with vegetables, some kind of chocolate cake, crème brûlée, and had a salad. Let's start with a salad. The ingredients are fine most of it fresh. The salad dressing was horrible. That's the only reason why I didn't like it. Otherwise a salad bar was pretty decent. The meat on the other hand were big no. I don't know what they put or sauté their stirfry meat with, but it has a slimy consistency to it. It's disgusting. MSG? I don't know what it is but it's gross. The grilled steak would've been fine had it not been cold. The prime rib would've also been fine, had it too not been cold, and too raw. But let's face it why are these even on the menu when it's supposed to be "Mandarin" cuisine? Too too many non-Asian food choices. Maybe if they didn't spread their buffet too thin with unnecessary ( European) items, maybe the quality would be there. Then there is the dessert, again what is this slimy, icky texture to this food? I tried two desserts. The crème brûlée was actually pretty decent. But the chocolate cake, was slimy. Again, I don't know what they put on their food, but it's all got this gelatin like texture to it. So, no, I'll pass. I know what good food tastes like. Even a buffet can have good, quality food. And this place is not it.

We have been loyal Mandarin customers since the very first day this location opened. Even…read morethroughout the pandemic, we continued to support this restaurant with countless takeout orders because we believed in supporting a business we valued. Over the years, we've experienced both great service and disappointing service -- but today's experience was beyond disappointing. Matt, the way you treated our family was unacceptable. You broke the basic standard of customer service by publicly humiliating and disrespecting a loyal customer. The person you mocked and spoke poorly about was my mother -- a cancer survivor and the matriarch of our family who constantly puts everyone else's needs before her own. We made a reservation days in advance for 11 people at 12:00 PM. We even saw the note confirming it. We understand that restaurants can get busy, but there was no reasonable explanation for repeatedly seating guests who arrived after us while our family waited. Reservations exist for a reason. We had three babies with us who needed to be settled safely in their spaces. Instead of acknowledging our concerns, you continued seating other groups and mocked my mother each time she tried to communicate with you. That behaviour was hurtful, embarrassing, and completely unnecessary. This was supposed to be a special celebration for my sister's birthday. Instead of creating a positive memory for our family, your actions completely overshadowed the day and left us feeling humiliated and unwelcome. To make matters worse, while our family was being treated this way, large groups of tourists were prioritized and seated. It left us questioning whether we were treated differently because of our background and appearance. Regardless of the reason, the result was the same: we felt disrespected. We always made an effort to greet you and chat with you because we are genuine people who appreciate relationships with the businesses we support. After today, that respect has been lost. Mandarin has lost a loyal family's support because of how we were treated. We hope management takes this seriously and remembers that every customer deserves dignity and respect.
