Stopped by here with my family on our way back from Ottawa. It's pretty busy and they only do reservations on the weekend (I'm assuming) so we just got take out. It's on the pricier side for food but it's expected given the area. We ordered burgers and chicken and waffles. Food took awhile to come out but I thought it tasted pretty good. I'm surprised they didn't have fish and chips but maybe their brunch menu didn't have it. The outside has really great views and it's nice to walk around as well. Pretty out of the way for me but wouldn't mind coming back to try it again if we're ever around the area. read more

We went to the Ivy Lea Club for lunch. The grounds are beautiful, with the patio over looking the water. Many individuals were boating into the restaurant from the water. The ambiance is wonderful, and it's a great place to enjoy a drink and snack. We ordered the margarita pizza and lobster roll, along with an Aperol spritz and a beer. The service was a bit slow, as it took a while to get our food, but the staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was ok; both the pizza and lobster roll lacked flavour. There is also a shop connected to the restaurant to purchase ice cream and sweets. read more

Wanted to take my 89 year mother out for a nice lunch at a place we went to before covid. The Ivy is a spectacular location and the general ambiance is very nice. Our lunch experience was totally disappointing. Wanted to sit on upstairs patio but greeted with total confusion when we requested a table. Went downstairs wher the nice upscate patio and bar was replaced with a self service lunch counter. Such a beautiful view to be wasted by such a poor downgraded lunch service. To top it all off lunch was even more disappointing. I had a club and it was the smallest and worst I have ever had. Such a shame. Won't be back. read more

This restaurant is absolutely breath taking. The garden is beautiful, the decor is warm and cozy, and the food is totally delicious. Highly recommended that you come and give this restaurant a try if you happen to be around the Kingston or Thousand Islands area. Environment: Located at a great location with direct view of the lake from the window, The Ivy offers a very large interior dining space as well as lots of outdoor patio/deck space surrounded with mosquito screen. The outdoor garden is well maintained with a large variety of flowers and plants, along with a small waterfall at the front of the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant gives a very charming cottage/lodge vibe and feels very homey. Food: We were here for lunch and ordered their Soup, Burgers with Fries, and I got the Croque Monsieur with Truffle Fries. The Croque Monsieur got me hooked when I took my first bite -- it was mouth watering delicious. It kind of looked like a grill cheese sandwich, but 10 times more delicious, definitely something not to be missed. The Truffle Fries (+$2 extra) was really good too, I liked the touch of flavour that the truffle brought and the fries were nice and crispy. Service: Great service, the waitress was really nice and accommodating, and she occasionally came to check how we were doing. read more

Food was decent when it finally arrived (2 hours to get our food), but a far cry from the ivy we used to know and love. The Ivy used to be our favorite restaurant but the new ownership for sure has some growing pains. They ran out of Cabernet wine, chicken, and steak. 3/5 of our first picks for meals were unavailable because they ran out... and it's only the start of the summer. The menu is severely limited. Like 7 entree options total and 2 are steaks that are very expensive. More appetizers than entrees, but the southern fried cheese appetizer is very good and delicious. The truffle fries were incredibly disappointing. Zero truffle what so ever. The old ones from a few years ago were hands down the best fries I have ever had. Now, I would not get them again for the cost. The meals took a long time. From when we sat down to when our food arrived, it was over 2 hours (2:03 minutes). The place was maybe half full. The food was delicious when it finally arrived, but the portion sizes were smaller than expected. We asked for some extra bread that came with one of the entrees and we went from 1 piece to 2 (was hoping for more like 4-5 pieces). For dessert, we only had 3 options and none of them seemed super interesting. One of the favorites that had been a staple of the Ivy was the sticky toffee pudding date cake and that was no longer available. When we ordered dessert there were a total of 12 people in the entire restaurant and yet somehow the kitchen was "backed up" so we cancelled our dessert order. One of us got some tea, and the little pot it came in was not even enough to fill half of the tea cup that came with it. It's a beautiful location and and the wait staff is nice and accommodating, and hope the new ownership gets their act together and I will be back, but a major let down to what it has been historically. Previously this was my favorite restaurant in the entire world. Now, it's nothing to write home about. I hope it's able to find its way back to the spotlight. read more

After a phenomenal dinner at The Ivy last week, we went back for lunch a few days later. A group of eight of us went to the Ivy for dinner.

No Lunch... A few weeks ago I booked a reservation for 12:30 PM, on Sunday, for lunch. I received an email reminder the day before we arrived, so they knew that we were coming. When we arrived, exactly on time for our reservation, there was no one at the hostess desk and so after waiting for several minutes, we proceeded into the restaurant. We were met by a very busy waitress who proceeded to show us to our seats; it appeared that our arrival was a surprise to all concerned. When the waitress handed us our menus they were only for brunch. I explained that we were there for lunch, she told us that they were only doing brunch and that I was the second customer that day that had, had a similar issue. She had tried but was sorry but there was nothing she could do. I explained that there was no indication on their website that only brunch was to be served on Sundays. She suggested that I to speak to the manager, I agreed. The manger arrived about five minutes later and was a young lady with very, poor interpersonal skills. She told me that they had changed the policy in October and that there was nothing she could do about it and implied that it was my fault for misreading the website. I explained that there was nothing on their site that indicated that only brunch would be served on Sundays. We took our leave shortly thereafter. I have reviewed the site and have still have not found where they mention that they only serve brunch on Sundays. We will not be going back; the very poor response from the so called "manager" demonstrated a lack of training, attention to detail and generally giving a damn about her job. I see from other recent reviews that the standard has fallen considerably. read more

I came across The Ivy by pure fluke. My group was traveling from Cornwall back to Toronto and decided to have dinner part way home. I went on Yelp and found this place and it was awesome. It was easily one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. We arrived way under dressed compared to the rest of the people there, but we we're politely greeted and given a table on the patio, which had a gorgeous view of the lake. Speaking of the patio, it was much more than just an outside space with some seating. It was nice covered and provided a great atmosphere, Part way through, I think they knew it was going to rain because they pre-emptively put down some screens that provided a shield from the rain. It was really thoughtful. The menu was small, which I really appreciated. They have a surprise item on their menu, which consisted of a protein and accompaniments that will vary depending on what the chef decides to pair the protein with; it'll differ even if multiple people order it at your table. I thought this was cool. I got the soup of the day (kale and quinoa soup), veal chop, and their deconstructed key lime pie. The food was superb. The soup came with bread and butter, which was soft and delicious. The veal chop was seasoned and seared perfectly. The temperature was perfect (and I am a steak snob). I am going to be mindful if I'm ever driving past this portion of the 401, to visit The Ivy again. I loved it. read more

We went to The Ivy for a rehearsal dinner this past Friday and it was unreal. It was a family-style meal with plenty to go around! The salads to start were the Caesar and tomato/avocado/bococcinj with pesto. They were both so fresh and flavourful. The second round of dishes were a sun dried tomato pasta, roasted potatoes and roasted vegetables. I don't know how they cook their potatoes but they were absolutely amazing--I wouldn't normally rave about potatoes but they were that good. Crispy with the right amount of salt and seasoning. This was followed by steak and turkey (for Thanksgiving). The steak was served mostly rare, but you could asked for a more well cooked piece. It was so flavourful and fell apart in your mouth. The finale was cheesecake. All of this amazing food at a beautiful location made for a wonderful experience. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in the region! read more

Our lunch today was wonderful until the waitress put our main course on the table and announced that the next party for our table was arriving in 10 minutes. We were a big party of 8 - but felt the onus was suddenly placed on us to manage the pace of service. If she had said at the outset of our meal that we wouldn't have time for an appetizer and main course, we would have ordered accordingly. We ordered promptly, but the kitchen execution was slow. Worst of all, the manager proceeded to argue with us for 10 minutes about how this service issue was our fault. A terrific menu and exceptional setting can only go so far to mitigate a major service failure. read more

Unfortunately the quality of the food doesn't live up to this fantastic venue. The Ivy has a very limited menu and a lack of appetizers that lend itself to sharing. The food is just ok. As a benchmark....Tin Pan Galley in Sackets Harbour NY is an example of a restaurant that is worth travelling to. The septic also needs to be dealt with. Stopped in for lunch on a recent Sunday. If you want to eat upstairs on Sunday the regular lunch menu is not available as they have a brunch. Cost is $30 and includes coffee and juice. Not an elaborate spread but what they do have is very good for a brunch. The day I was there they had roast beef, an omelette station (not a large selection of ingredients), salmon, chicken, sausage, bacon, fried potatoes, a salad, cheese, breads and some desserts. Reading it back I guess it was elaborate enough! Have a nice but smallish deck. Would have prefered to sit out there but it was full. Server was very friendly and all of the staff I met were quite pleasant. Anyway, worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

The venue is very nice itself, but the service was not good. Our server was kind of rude and didn't check in on us. We had to ask other waiters for things. It also does not have the best food. It sad to see such a nice place with such mediocre food. There is also not much at all on the menu and it is very limited. The food is also way out of price for the amount and quality of the food. Whether you want to just have a quick drink or a meal you'll be hard pressed to find a better view to enjoy while you eat. Great menu with some familiar items (like a club wrap complete with homemade wrap) or something a bit different like the croque Monsieur, it's a safe bet it's delicious. It's not the most extensive menu, but you should be able to find something you like. If not, just have a drink and enjoy the view. read more

Sophistication hits the 1,000 Islands in this new waterside restaurant that invokes the classic camps of a century ago. Fresh ingredients are well prepared with modern flair that would not be out of place in Toronto or Montreal. Wine list is robust and features a number of Canadian wines, plus a section of cult wines. First time here. We came early to have a drink at the bar, only to find out there is a bar but only 2 2-top tables and no bar stools. You have to go to bar to order your drinks and service was very slow. Luckily, once seated for dinner, it was all positive! You do not get bread or salad, everything is an up-charge. Two of us ordered the steak and fries, it was fabulous. I upgraded to truffle fries with mine, they were good. Steaks were cooked perfectly, had a few spears of asparagus and two huge onion rings also on the plate. The other two ordered mahi mahi and while it was good, it was not a very big portion and had a little rice that was supposed to have a pineapple salsa on it, but they really didn't taste it. They wished they had ordered the steak when they saw our dinners! The grounds and view are beautiful and being American we got a good value for our money with the exchange rate. My wife and I very much enjoyed this place. For my income, I consider it's GREAT for a special occasion but I can't afford to go as often as I'd like. It's a bit pricey but very enjoyable. The location on the bank of the St. Lawrence river is beautiful. I haven't had lunch there but I understand they have a very reasonable lunch if seated out on the porch. Next season I plan to try it. read more
