Because I'm a nurse, it's only for a VERY RARE occasion that I get my nails done at a salon (simply because I don't wear them long and I forego polish/artificial nails). I have now had two experiences at this salon. The first time was a few months ago after receiving a gift certificate from a friend to have my nails done for a wedding. On this visit, I only opted for polish. The girl was very nice and did a nice job cleaning and buffing my nails, tidying my cuticles and the polish was pretty. I was pleased. The second time was this week when an unexpected family emergency out of state meant I had very little time to address my nails that people I haven't seen in 10+ years had no business seeing. My cuticles needed help and most all of my nails had broken recently almost down to the bed making them all varying lengths of very short. So with precious little time at my disposal, I remembered my last positive visit to this salon and took a shot as a walk-in. They graciously took me in and I opted for a sport length SNS manicure to correct the uneven lengths and give them a nice neutral color. As I sat and watched her work in the dim lighting, everything looked fine. It wasn't until I got home that I actually saw how bad they looked. In many places my natural nail was left exposed around the edges and I had to take the time to sit and reshape them. But there was nothing I could do to correct the defects from what I truly hate to say was very shotty work even though she took her time. She never addressed my cuticles at all AND the color, tho still neutral, ended up not even being the one I had picked out. There was nothing I could do about it because I had no time and had to prepare to get on the road. All I could do was try not to draw too much attention to my hands. They literally looked as though I had attempted to do them myself and were very embarrassing. I can't imagine a bad pedicure, and apparently doing simple uncomplicated polish is perfectly within their skill level. But if you are going to pay for expensive nail techniques, or your manicure is for an important event, don't risk it by going here. Just since I decided to write this review of my experience I see others have had similar results. I have acrylics that I had done in Pensacola and they were just ok. Now that I'm working from home I wanted a place in town. I found Island by accident online. I really liked how easy it was to book online. Ann did an OUTSTANDING job. She was very patient and kind while I picked a new color (the first I had chosen were too sheer) and she made them look amazing. I like all the safety precautions they are taking due to covid. The salon is clean and quiet. Def will be back. read more

Not the best place I've been to. Had a gel manicure that was done by a cosmetology student I believe. I had SNS beforehand and the process to remove it was unusual and something I wasn't used to. She seemed to have a lot of trouble removing the SNS and there were chunks and pieces she had to wrestle with for a while. It was also a lot longer process than I've ever experienced. When I went to a different nail salon afterwards, I was told they removed the SNS from my nails incorrectly as there were still remains and that my nails were left extremely weak from the experience. Had dip done four days ago and they are already peeling and look terrible. There were three people working when my husband and I arrived and we were their only customers. All three staff members were rude and talked about us the entire visit. At one point the lady doing my nails called by husband a baby because he politely asked his nail tech to not be so rough while doing his pedi. We felt extremely uncomfortable the entire time. At the end of the appointment, I politely thanked my nail tech (even though I knew she did not do a good job) and she did not even thank me. She turned away and proceeded to chat on her cell. I understand that being in customer service can be difficult at times and there are challenging customers, but my husband and I are most certainly not those people. There are plenty of other nail options. Please treat your customers with respect if you would like to continue to stay in business- otherwise, find something else to do. read more

After having a spa day with my mother complete with massages, facials, manicures and pedicures I can safely tell you this is a wonderful spa! Everyone was very nice and the transitions from one service to another we're very smooth. The massages we had were very relaxing! Marie and Sarah were fabulous! The facials were very thorough and rejuvenating. Cindy and Jenny were so great! Our manicures and pedicures were absolutely delightful! This is my favourite place in mobile for a mani/pedi. Even though I moved away two years ago, I always make it a point to treat myself whenever I'm in town. My experience here was less than stellar. My husband surprised me with a mani/pedi and a facial. I had an appointment, and I was greeted when I walked in, and then asked to sit down as they were running late. I sat for about 20 minutes, and then another girl addressed me in a really brash manner and accused me of being late. When I replied that I had already spoken with someone and had been instructed to wait, she rolled her eyes, and started pinning paperwork to a clipboard as if my presence was the biggest inconvenience on earth. I quickly filled out the release for the facial, and still had to wait another twenty minutes for them to get me back for my mani/pedi. I was surprised the wait was so long considering I had an appointment. I finally got into a pedicure chair, and the man who was supposed to do it, put gloves on, I had already notified them that I'm extremely allergic to latex, and when I questioned him about the gloves, sure enough, they were latex. They didn't have any alternatives, and he was huffy with me about that. At this point, I told him I'd just leave. I didn't want him doing anything he was uncomfortable with, but he insisted that it was fine. I should've just followed my gut and gone. The woman doing my manicure sat down, and I had to hold a pillow in my lap while she did my nails and he worked on my feet. It was awkward to say the least. He talked about feeling up a transvestite and getting money stuffed in his underwear at the previous night's party, and that's when they were speaking English. Plus, the management kept coming in and staring at the clock then staring at me like I was somehow the reason they were running behind. I just wanted it to be over. The facial was the only reason this place didn't get one star. The aesthetician was very professional, and the massage was great. Bottom line, don't bother going here to relax. The front desk personnel, the management, and most everyone but the aesthetician were incredibly rude and unprofessional. I won't be back. read more

The staff is very friendly, but I was looking for more than a nail place this day. The place was messy and not comfortable. Upon entering, I love the look of the place. One side is for skin services; the other is for nail services. The girl at the front assisted me immediately, and as soon as I got out of the washroom (which was clean) it was time for my service (basic manicure). Simply stated, my nails don't look good. It was actually kind of dark in the nail salon, so I didn't notice until I got in my car. It wasn't bad enough to go back inside and risk being late getting back to my office from lunch, but it looks as if the technician was rushed although business was painfully slow. She didn't cover the sides of my nails very well, if she covered them at all. I can still see the previous pink color I had on the sides of two of my nails. I tend to have quite a bit of dry skin around my nails/cuticle area, and she didn't take her time with cleaning those up nicely. I was also surprised she didn't clean underneath my nails. The technician was very nice and the nail salon side of the spa was clean, but I don't foresee myself going back. read more

Horrible! To expensive and it left my hair dry and poofy! The service was horrible too! They treated me like I was nobody and wasn't worth there time or business! I couldn't believe it. I have been going to the same stylist for 20 years and she called in sick and eventually left and went the the Battle house. One star due to the great deal of pain I've been going through for 2 months with an in-grown toenail I've had that started after a pedicure from Tina. I've NEVER had ingrown toenails and I know it is the way she cut my nails that did this. I tried filing it down the day after the pedicure (ruining the french tips I paid a pretty penny for) to try to prevent it, but it still happened. Even the way she cut my cuticles left me with hangnails on my big toe. I stand on my feet at both of my jobs. I work 9-10 hour shifts 6 days out of the week. Imagine the pain I have been going through. I am really considering taking this weekend off because I'm in so much pain. Now, not only is this causing me pain, but it's costing me money. God forbid if I have to get it surgically removed. The only thing they had to say about it was, "well, it'll grow out." Wow... read more

Today was my first time going there and I must say it was the worst nail shop I've ever went to. One of the ladies upfront desk asked me if I knew what color I wanted and I said no so she told me she will get me the colors. (Unlike other nail shops they do not have their nail polishes were the client can see and choose from, they just have sample of the colors which they will show you and then get it for you in the back. Which was really hard to pick a color.) The lady who did my nail just got the simples of the colors and throw it at me, she didn't even say hey or anything. The whole time she was doing my nails she did not bother to start a conversation with me at all. She didn't smile at all and looked like she didn't enjoy working today. She did my nails way too fast and finished way too early. I only went there for a fill in and they charged me $25!!! No place I've ever went to has charged that much for just a fill in. I get full sets for less than $25 at other places. Today was my first and last time going to that nail shop! read more
