I lowered my 2026 Model Y and needed it aligned. After taking it to a another shop twice they still couldn't get the steering wheel straight and the car tracked and felt off even after the print out provided showed that the car was aligned properly. I brought my modified 2026 Tesla to Derrick at Island Brake & Alignment, and he absolutely nailed it and knew what I was talking about when I mentioned the issues. He found the alignment specs were not as I was told after putting it up on his rig. He also pointed out the fast wear that was occurring even though it was supposed to be aligned properly. After Derrick worked on the car, the steering wheel is straight, the car tracks perfectly, and the car drives smooth and straight. You can tell Derrick cares for his customers and their cars. Great service, great attention to detail, and I'll definitely be bringing my car back to Derrick from now on. read more

While driving home to Mililani, a brake failure warning light came on, followed by multiple dashboard warnings and difficulty steering. I eventually made it home then called AAA who recommended replacing the battery but advised against driving the car since the alternator was showing an error. My brother-in-law recommended Island Brake & Alignment. I was leaving on a trip in a couple days but Derrick squeezed me into the schedule. They ran diagnostics to identify the problem, kept me informed of the findings and had my car ready before I left on my trip. I am grateful to Derrick for all of his help, quick response and pleasant attitude. I would definitely recommend Island Brake & Alignment! read more

Derrick Dudoit is awesome. If you own a car you actually care about, this is the place to go. My car club friends first recommended Derrick, and I initially brought him my race/track car; which says a lot, because I'm very particular about who touches it. After that experience, I now also take my daily driver, our family car, and even my 4x4 to him. That level of trust didn't happen by accident. Derrick is extremely knowledgeable and generous with his time. He offered a free consultation, walked me through what he was seeing, and explained the "why" behind every adjustment. He dialed in my custom suspension and alignment to precise specs, not generic numbers. You can tell he understands performance driving and real-world use. What really stands out is that Derrick treats your vehicles like his own; no upselling, no rush, just honest advice and quality work. That's rare. If you're into motorsports, autocross, track days, or just want your car aligned the right way, Island Brake & Alignment is the spot. Highly recommended. read more

I cannot recommend Island Brake and Alignment enough. I took my 2020 Hyundai Kona to both Lex Brodie's and the dealership (Tony Hyundai) because my alignment felt off. Both shops told me the same thing: the rear camber and toe couldn't be adjusted by design, and they basically sent me on my way with a car that still didn't drive right. The owner here actually took the time to diagnose the real problem. He noticed I had one new tire and realized the issue wasn't just mechanical--it was tire placement. He cross-rotated the front tires and then performed the alignment. The car now drives perfectly. It's rare to find a shop with this much expertise and common sense. Save yourself the headache and just come here first. read more

Derek and crew are pleasant. Had a 1PM alignment appointment, but I was on time constraints. Derek suggested I bring my car in at 8AM and he would try to squeeze it in earlier. Car was done by 11. Very accommodating. Car drives great. Let them know what you want done with your car. They aim to please and make it right. read more

Got a lift done on my jeep and wanted to get an alignment. I live in town and called a few places close to home to get it done. Never received a call back from any of the shops I called except Discount Tires on Ualena. Bad decision. My jeep drove worse than it did before I brought it in and steering wheel was misaligned and tilting to the left as I would drive straight. Took it back and they fixed it (somewhat) but now steering wheel was tilting to the right as I drove straight. Finally took it to Island Brake and Alignment. Took about an hour and half. Plenty places to eat in the area while you wait. Jeep now drives really nice. Thank you guys for the quality work. read more

Went to get my wheels aligned. Was told it would take 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Was finished in one hour. Very friendly got a print out of the alignment specs. I asked to them to check my brakes. Told me they had 30% left. Good for about 3 more months. Any other place would have told me that I needed a brake job right away. I will return to have my brakes done here. Excellent service. I'm not going anywhere else. read more

Where do I begin? Been to Derrick's shop I'd say over past 20 years for my previous vehicles of a Maxima and Honda CRV. Recently took in my wife's Honda Fit needing a diagnosis and repair of the drivers window that doesn't want to open and close properly. Dealer quoted me over 1k part alone for a car over 10 years old so I figured why not ask if Derrick shop could look into it. Also needed have drive belt changed out and a right rear leaking wheel cylinder looked at. Long story short, Derrick diagnosed a bad window regulator that was replaced, two each wheel cylinders in rear replaced as both found to be leaking during inspection and drive belt changed. Everything was done under one day and way under what I would have paid at dealership with "genuine" parts. In this inflationary economy with high costs, Derrick's outstanding service saved me time and money which are both important resources nowadays. Can't go wrong with Derrick and his team. They get busy but, I can't say enough about their outstanding service and workmanship. I have had three vehicles in past serviced here and will continue to bring my vehicles to keep them running in top shape hopefully past 200k miles down the road. My truck brakes were squealing and my motorcycle mechanics recommended I see Derek at Island Brake and Alignment. We're talking about guys who can easily do their own brake jobs but when I was in need, they pointed me in the right direction. The shop is very busy so I made an appointment and found Derek to be super nice and helpful. I ended up having all brake pads and rotors changed and the job was completed in no time on the day of my appointment. A few days later I had an electrical problem which left me stranded. I was going to have the truck towed home but managed to get ahold of Derek and he told me to have it towed to his shop. Thanks to AAA and O'Sung I got a quick tow back to Derek. After discussing what had happened, we all agreed I probably had a bad alternator. Derek said he would run some tests and give me a call. It was July 3rd so I was pretty sure I wasn't going to see my truck for a few days. To my surprise, Derek called me the next morning of the 4th to tell me my battery was fine but my alternator needed replacing. It was all done and ready to go. Yep, he and his crew were working on the holiday to get things done! My girlfriend told me she had recently replaced her alternator and it cost a lot but Derek's price (@ the brake shop) was way better so I got to brag a little bit when I got home. Lol I recommend Island Brake and Alignment and Derek for your stopping and going needs! read more

I was in search of a quality alignment shop and was referred to Island Brake by some friends. Derrick provided a 10/10 service and I will never get alignment from anywhere else now. I have minor mods to my truck (lift, UCA, wheels) and you can tell he knows what he's doing and more importantly, he cares about his work. It felt like he was working on his own truck the way he made sure to dial in my alignment. read more

I've done alignment for my two cars at Island Brake and Alignment a total of three times, all after making some aftermarket suspension changes to my vehicles. Every single time the appointment was easy to make via phone, and I ran into zero issues with each service. I really can't speak to value due to the fact that I can't recall the last time I did my alignment anywhere else, but I'm also the kind of person that will gladly pay extra to work with a courteous, professional staff that will do the job right, which Island Brake and Alignment does all in spades! read more

I needed an alignment after changing the tie rods on my 1995 Toyota Avalon. After doing the alignment on the rack, they test drove the car twice to fine tune the camber and toe. The steering is now the best it has been in years. They also adjusted the toe in the rear and somehow tightened the steering wheel. Excellent skillful job, highly recommend. No extra charges, great people. read more

Derrick really takes care of my family's cars! I took it here once to confirm the shocks needed changing and he advised me I was correct- but if I was going to sell it, no need to do it and just advise the next owners that the shocks needed changing in the near future. And I did! We now take my husbands car here, whether it's tire replacements, alignment issues, brake issues, oil changes etc. We love supporting local businesses, especially ones that take care of us as we would take care of someone else. I even got my grandma to start taking her car here and she loves Derrick and his workers. We will keep coming back and making the drive- it's worth it. read more

This review is long over due. I have been coming here since 95 when my parents had their flower shop. First picked it because it was convenient, close by, but quickly it was because the owner had a heart of gold and was quick to put himself in our shoes. Despite being busy even back then, he would push our work vehicles out, knowing how much we relied on them for deliveries. I went to them whenever I had an issue within their realm. I continue to go their now for the same reason. They continue to provide honest assessments. No work recommended just because "you will need to do it soon anyway." The proof is in their longevity and ongoing success after all these years. I recommend them to everyone I know but most times the answer, "Oh yeah, I go to Island Brake." read more

I was monitoring the wear on my front tires as having an alignment issue. Although the car was stock, it likely came from the factory with an aggressive suspension setup. 2019 Corvette GS. Both front tires were showing equal wear, but noticeable that the inside of both were worn more than the rest of the tire. Since the tires are +400$ each, I wanted to try and extend the life of them, even if for another 1000 miles (there was on 7300 miles on this set). I called and made an appointment that was about 2 weeks away. Dropped my car off, and was told 1-1.5 hours. I returned to the shop after walking to the gym and back and my car was done. I was given the before and after printouts to document that the car was slightly out of alignment. Appreciate the experience, knowledge and expretise to be able to work on my car. This was the second time coming here as I brought my 2005 Tahoe here in 2008 when I needed an alignment documentation for RECON. read more

I have been going to Island Brake and Alignment for many years. Derek is truly one of the most genuine, honest and trustworthy mechanics out there and I always am appreciative when he takes care of my truck. He gets the job done right the first time and charges a fair price based on the repair. It is very difficult to find a consistent and reliable mechanic these days and I am not one who buys new vehicles all the time. But when I need something done or an alignment from hitting one of the many pot holes on the roads I can always know he will get my vehicle in top shape. Mahalo! read more
