Island bodega is unlike any Açaí store I have been to! This place is set up like an assembly line, with plenty of customizable options to choose from. They have some of the most unique items like blue chia pudding and different açaí bases, which I didn't think was a thing until I stopped here. These bases came in all different flavors besides the usual berry açaí flavor that most places have. The service was outstanding, each person in the assembly line assisting with each bowl as you went through and chose your items. The bowls can be pretty pricey but for the ingredients, it definitely is worth it if you fill your bowl up. I do wish there was more seating inside, but it still was one of the best açaí bowls I have tried! read more

Love this place. So far I have only had their Island Bowl. It is perfect! The staff takes their time perfecting your bowl. I love that they do not rush you at all. It's a small location with about 3 tables inside but the vibe is so chill. They also have a wide variety of kombucha and Yerba Mate drinks. This is my first review for Island Bodega despite eating here on numerous occasions. I ordered a small açaí bowl with blue chia, strawberries (and extra strawberries), sweet coconut, honey, and golden agave. Their açaí is the perfect texture and just the right amount of sweetness. They have a variety of toppings to choose from and the portions are quite huge. In my personal opinion, it is better than Blue Bowl, but both are really great places for açaí bowls. There are a ton of cute photo spots with their nautical themed decorations inside. I would be interested to see if this establishment begins to sell merchandise to the public. My one con would be that the workers didn't have their hair tied back entirely nor did they have a hair net. Nevertheless, will be coming again in the future whether it be for breakfast, lunch, or a midday/late night snack. read more

My wife has been ordering many açaí bowls from here for quite a while now -- mainly because of the customizability this place touts. And by a lot, I mean more than five at a time. She and I love them, and we put them in the freezer for the rest of the week. Josh, Ricky, and Azalia are some of the people who work there who have served her before, with no problem whatsoever. Those 3 are all friendly and help us add granola between the layers and at the bottom of the bowl -- and we've never had any issues. Until today. Today, the employees who were there (Caleb and Ibarra) refused to serve my wife, saying they don't do customizing -- despite their sign saying that they do so out in front. In fact, my wife was ordering 8 medium bowls, and Ibarra had already lined them up on the counter. Ibarra called Caleb for assistance and when I requested my usual aforementioned customizations, Caleb chimes in that they don't do that anymore, without any further explanation. On top of their refusal, they were also quite rude and flippant about the whole matter when talking to my wife. Utterly disappointing. read more

Island bodega is so delicious. I have gone to many places that sell açaí bowls but this one has most definitely become my favorite. I love the set up of the place there are lots of plants and looks a good place to study and eat a delicious bowl. My favorite has been the blue island. I have yet to try a few more. The customer service is great and the fruits are super fresh. They also sell homemade candles at the register which are really cute with crystals. read more

I love bodega still but a certain employee that they recently had during covid was very unsanitary! It was the first time I saw her and after putting some toppings on she took her gloves off then she put the rest of my toppings WITHOUT GLOVES!!! She has lonnnggggg nails and I was so grossed out!!!she seems to be struggling with her nails but it's so disgusting!!! And everytime I go there and it's just my luck she is the one helping me!!! I miss the other girls I used to see..... they need to educate this girl about cleanliness and remind her there is covid!!! I used to really like Island Bodega, it was my go-to spot. The last 2 times I've went there I was disappointed. My 2 friends and I went there last night and we were the only ones in there at first. The workers messed up our orders almost right away. My friend had asked for a coconut cream layer but the worker put something else instead; my friend corrected her but the worker sounded annoyed when my friend told her the mistake and didn't believe her at first. They gave me and my other friend the wrong size bowl. They were also going pretty slow, by the time we were checking out there was already a long line behind us. From past experiences, the workers were going fast so I don't know why they were taking so much time this time. I was craving acai again today and ordered for pick up. When I opened my order at home I saw they didn't give me bananas when I asked for it. I looked over my order and the receipt that came with it and saw that I definitely asked for bananas. Refreshing new taste in town My lil brother and I went here to chill because we don't have anything better to do, while he was visiting in my place. We decided to go here because it is a healthier choice than our usual boba spots in Cerritos. Their location was used to be a Hawaiian poke restaurant, but I guess it shuts down because of this pandemic. It got replaced with this awesome joint and we're glad that it is open. The inside looks like a acai version of Chipotle because of their build your own bowl options. The employees have a good customer service because they are very accommodating with us being a first-time customer in here. This joint is very clean from the inside and out; I'm quite impressed of their simple and homey design. The food is good and refreshing! I did their build their own bowl option, which I picked 3 layers (acai, matcha, and blue island). Each layer has different flavored acai that is flavorful in every bite. Although, I did not taste more of their matcha because the other layers might be overpowering the taste, but nonetheless still refreshing. I suggest picking one option layers to all of your layer options to maximize the full flavor (although, its really up to you). I added cacao pudding, which is subtle taste with acai. I added banana chips, cacao bits, and their berries on my bowl, and with a little hint of golden agave syrup at the end. I really like their ingredients and options for their acai bowls. However, my only knock on this joint is their pricing; granted their ingredients are unique and rent might be up there since it is in Cerritos. The price is a little bit overpriced compared to other acai bowl places, but yeah you do get what you deserved based solely on their ingredients. I was craving something light and refreshing for a quick lunch/snack. I yelped around and found Island that was close to us with good reviews. It is located in an open plaza, so parking was plentiful. Island has it where the set up is like a Chipotle or Yogurtland, everything is arranged in front of you and you pick what you want, which is great as it's very customizable. I've only seen set bowls so this was great to get more of what I wanted. You first choose your size, Small $7 / Medium $10 / Large $13. Second you choose you layer, They offer more than just Acai and they also have 2 kinds chia pudding which was a nice addition. You then chose your toppings, that are endless, from 4 different types of granolas, fruits, and other toppings. Lastly you can add some almond or peanut butter drizzle as well as honey or agave. My bf and I shared the Medium (16 oz). I chose the pitaya and acai base. I actually preferred the pitaya over the acai. It was a bit more sweeter and refreshing. I asked for half chia pudding and half chocolate chia pudding. I added the vanilla almond granola. For fruits, they only have fresh blueberries, strawberries and bananas, so I chose all 3 :) I also added some bee pollen, almond butter drizzle and a few shakes of matcha powder. Everything was very fresh, semi sweet, and filling. It's hard to get carried away as their are a lot to choose from. I think coming here a few times, I will be able to master my perfect bowl. A lot of other açaí places use premade Sambazon açaí but this place actually makes their bases, high quality fruits, instead of the standard strawberry and bananas.
