After that event, we learned about the brick-and-mortar in Artesia. Located in a plaza, look for the parol in the window :) Full transparency, we often end up at Snowflakes when our usual açai bowl spots are closed since Snowflakes is open until 9pm. The location is out of the way for us, but we'll make the drive because we know it's good! I always get the ube base. Most of the ingredients are plant-based, and the staff has helped let us know what isn't (like the ube chia pudding). It would be very reminiscent of the sweet treats my parents would have their early dates way back in Philippines. Came back for some dessert. I was not feeling the Halo Halo this time, but instead their ice cream. I was really looking forward to the Macadamia Nut ice cream so I got a double scoop with one scoop of Macadamia nut and one scoop of Kauai Pie. Placed our orders and paid and just waiting for them to prepare it. Just for them to tell me after the fact, that they were out of Macadamia Nut. If they knew that before I ordered, I would have ordered a single scoop. I got regular size but regretted not getting a large. It was so good. Their shaved is is smooth which makes it really nice. The ice cream on top is good and so is all the other ingredients in it. This review is a little late (mom brain)! We catered Halo Halo for my son's 1st birthday and it was soo good! Our guests loved it. Kevin was so helpful and kind and answered all my questions. We picked up the halo halo and it was packed with dry ice and insulated with a plastic bag to keep it frozen. Spoons and Rice Krispies were also packed in the cooler. I got a large shaved ice with Ube ice cream in the middle. I got to pick three flavors. So I picked watermelon, orange creamsicle and blue Hawaiian. I did ask if they have any sugar free flavors (just so I can put it in here for people who have dietary restrictions) he said all syrups are made there and they don't offer sugar free. But you can always say go easy on the syrup. Once the workers came out from the back ( it was a young guy and a young girl working here) things did go pretty smooth. They give you a ticket and then call your number to come pick it up at the counter when it's ready. My family and close friends have been loyal customers of this place since we discovered it about 10 years ago. We absolutely love their açaí bowls and shaved ice. Today, I went in to pick up an açaí bowl for my daughter and I too share. I thought I'd save some money if I bought a large signature bowl and share, but when I got it, it was 3/4 full or 1/4 empty(literally). When I asked the worker what was going on with the bowl not being filled to the top, she said, "that's how we make them. "I disagree because we have had them many times and never has it been so low.
