We've been going here for years, it's our go-to place for upscale Mexican food. The carnitas plate is delicious and is what I usually get. This time we went with some out of town guests, one of them had the carnitas burrito (Christmas style). Might have to try that next time, looked very good. read more

Why is no one talking about this place? It is a hidden gem! I've lived nearby for so long and JUST found it due to a video I saw on TikTok. We will be back! We loved the food and drink and best happy hour in town! Excellent service at the bar. They also have live acoustic music. Parking lot is packed/right due to blue 32, the cigar bar and other nearby establishments. Pics of everything we ordered attached! Loved it all! The bean dip on happy hour is excellent! Yummy cocktails! read more

The service was fantastic and our waitress was attentive and fast, but only problem was the food. It was tasteless, not seasoned very well and some of the chicken on my nachos (which by the way looked more like mini tostadas) was overcooked while my wife's dish was also not tasty at all and as it relates to the food with prices, so overpriced. Unfortunately wife and I will never be going back! read more

We really enjoyed it! The Frijolillos Amor was very tasty! My son had the steak fajitas and my husband and I shared the El Presidente. The service was great, live music and temperature in the restaurant was just right. We will be back! read more

I love their posole it was delicious. Nice customer service. It's a nice place to go have lunch. I'll be back again

Sorry, I just don't get it. Service: Acceptable, 4 stars. Timely refills, but took a while to check on us after dinner was served. Food: Steak fajitas came out lukewarm with ONE tortilla! I can understand a dinner coming with one, but fajitas are supposed to be rolled into a tortilla. Not a bad price at $16, but between temp, quality, portion size and ONE tortilla: hard pass. Daughter said Chilis does a better job; not even coming close to Abuelos or Nando's: can't beat a chain? I had the " El Presidente": steak was good, cheese enchilada was ok and the Chile relleno was decent. Seeing how was this was highlighted on the menu, I found it underwhelming. Apps: We just squeezed in before happy hour was over and were able to adda few items that were $1-$2 bucks off the reg price. The entire order was ONE STAR! The tacos were minuscule, even for $2. The carnitas were dry and steak was just slightly better. I wouldn't pay 50 cents for this XXXX. The Mexican street corn was cold and didnt taste fresh. Costco's frozen street corn is better! Seems this place is about drinks and less food. This was a one time visit for us. read more

Delicious food and service was amazing. We had a big party, 22 people, and every one was happy the entire time. Fantastic food, great prices, will definitely be back! read more

I fuckin love Isabel's. Been going for years. Never had anything I didn't love. Drinks are great. Chips & salsa is bomb. Atmosphere is top tier while still being casual. I recommend the posole, carne asada fries (not on menu) and the trio plato with black beans rice & enchiladas. Service is fantastic as well. read more

Loved everything from the decor to the friendly and highly attentive staff. The food was incredible and the house margarita was excellent! Amazing happy hour prices. Will definitely be back very soon! read more

I used to love coming here. Unfortunately this place got bigger and the service has suffered. I keep trying to come back thinking it will be like it used to but it never is. Management is poorly trained and not interested in delivering a great customer experience. Server tried her best but not what you would expect for the price and location. read more

Ate here for dinner on Valentine's day and we were quite impressed! This place was adorable on the inside as it was on the outside. If you're looking for a smaller intimate Mexican restaurant with great food, this is the place for you. We can usually tell a good Mexican joint by their salsa and this place had some gooooood salsa with a kick! His - Combo fajitas were good. Really hard to mess up fajitas lol. But the flour tortilla that it came with was incredible and tasted like they were made in house! Not to mention the size of it...you can practically make a big burrito out of that thing! Hers - Carne Asada fries. Overall good. Just wish the fries were a tish crispier. Overall solid Mexican spot with awesome live music when we were there on one fine Thursday night! read more

This is our first visit to Isabel's. There as a waIt list but only like 20 minutes so not too bad. Waitstaff was courteous but quite young and not as attentive as real pros. Good selection on the menu. I had the one enchilada and one taco plate with rice and beans (Barracho ) the enchilada was good. The sauce somewhat bland. The taco okay with the meat cooked inside the tortilla. Beans were good except probably not made that day with minimum seasoning. Rice was good but little flavor. My other guest had the chili poblano relleno and reported that it was tasty but the sauce again, bland not fiery enough as well. The food good but hardly worth the price charged There was a live music that was way too loud fro allow for conversation Some of the chairs were made of metal with a high center making them somewhat uncomfortable Please give it a try but don't expect gourmet Mexican read more

My husband and I went for the first time and had dinner. The service was excellent. My husband really loved with he ordered. He did think one tortilla for the amount of food was a bit cheap and to charge a dollar for another tortilla ridiculous. I had the 3 tacos dinner plate. It was good, but shrimp taco was bland. We did get chips and their salsa before dinner. I do have to say the salsa was not salsa but a small bowl of hot sauce. That was really the only thing I disliked. The table across from us asked for the bowl of hot sauce to be removed and something milder in its place. Why didn't we think of that! The prickly pear margarita was great. Again, I do have to say the service was excellent. read more

Isabel's Amor looked like a great choice after quickly browsing through some of the photos on Yelp. The restaurant was only about half full on a Friday, which was surprising, but we were happy to be seated at a table immediately. To start, we each got a margarita - the classic on the rocks for my mom and a frozen strawberry for me. They delivered a basket of chips and salsa to us; we also got the Mexican Street Corn to start. It was brought out fairly quickly, but it look quite a bit different than what I anticipated. Not only was there way too cheese on top (which we scrapped off) but the corn itself didn't have too much flavor. It tasted a little bit better with the salsa, but we wouldn't order it again. For our entrée, we split the chicken fajitas and added a shrimp taco. I was surprised & disappointed that they didn't deliver the chicken fajitas sizzling on a skillet, but the plate itself looked good. Unfortunately, again, the dish was lacking flavor. The chicken had a weird, off-putting taste so we didn't eat much of it, the guacamole didn't have enough salt, and to top it off, it was only served with one tortilla! The peppers and onions were cooked well, however, and the rice was good. We opted to get double rice and no beans since all of their beans are made with lard. The additional shrimp taco was not impressive. I didn't like the mango salsa that was served with it (too sweet) so I added some of the peppers & onions from the fajita dish as well as the salsa that we had gotten with the chips. Service was good when we first got there, but started lacking after it got a little bit busier. Overall, disappointing experience. I'm not sure that we will be returning. read more

We used to come here quite a bit but for the last year the service keeps getting worse. We always call ahead of time, like today on a Saturday we were told as long as we order by 9:45pm. We arrived at 9:30 pm and were told the kitchen is closed. It always seems like the staff is not interested in customer service. There have been times when I've asked for a minor modification on food/drinks (more spicy/less sugar) or extra lemons (happy to pay extra) and servers are always rude. The food quality has also gone down, usually cold, less flavor - you can tell it's been sitting there not fresh. We have gone back only because we love to support local, family owned businesses but I don't think the management cares about that. It's unfortunate. read more

Like the Someburros restaurants but looking for something more upscale in food and atmosphere? Then you've come to the right place! The family that owns Someburros opened up Isabel's Amor for those that wanted a more sit-down atmosphere. We ordered a myriad of dishes, and all had good flavor, with great execution. The best out of all our orders was probably the carne asada. It was perfectly marinated, with a citrus kick, and very tender. Unlike the oily/greasy cheese crisps and tacos at Someburros, the tacos and cheese crisps here have more of a toasted flavor and texture rather than fried. Service was great and our waiter was attentive and cheerful. Prices are significantly higher, but you're paying for the quality, service, and ambiance of your sit-down experience. Overall, a good place to dine! read more

Absolutely loved this place! Wonderful clean atmosphere, great Chile Relleno, and friendly attentive service. The salsa is a bit spicy for my taste(but husband liked it), chips were light and crispy. The prickly pear margarita was wonderful on top of it all. Found this place from another site and SO GLAD we went for lunch there. Will definitely be back again! read more

We went yesterday based in the Yelp reviews. Sadly disappointed.....from the greeter at the door to the food. Totally lacking in any kind of seasoning. . . Or manners. The Torta had no avocado on it and was all bread and tasteless. My daughter's was beautiful to look at, but again, no flavor. My husband got the street tacos and he said they were pretty good. We were so sad based on the reviews. read more

We have been frequent visitors to Isabel's for years. We are always greeted very kindly and taken care of promptly. Was there around 5pm on a busy Friday night (tonight) and sat at the bar right next to where one guy was making all the drinks. Had the house margarita, and it tasted as though zero tequila was in. (I'm not new to margaritas, and I bartended for years) I watched him make margs for over an hour. He literally only used 1-1 1/2 shots per 3 margaritas! I watched him with the shaker as he poured the tequila into the jigger (used to measure shots), and he only filled the jigger up approximately half way two times, dumped it in the shaker, along with the mix and ice and shook it, then poured into 3 glasses. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Each time he poured he filled 3 glasses with that tiny bit of tequila spread out between the 3. That's a beyond weak margarita, and not what people are paying for. Either this dude is sneaking out a couple bottles of tequila at night, or he thinks that weak drinks mean people will buy more drinks, increase their tabs, and his tip out would be greater from all the waitresses and split tips with other bartenders who were only pouring beers, with the exception of one girl who poured some chilled straight shots (hers were as they should be). He's wrong. No one wants one weak ass drink like that, we really don't want a second. In fact, we won't even go back! There is too much competition for excellent Mexican food and great margaritas in the valley to revisit this place. Others at the bar ordered street tacos, they were about the size of a small palm, with only a tablespoon of meat in the middle. I wanted to take pix of what I was seeing, but didn't want to weird out the customers taking a pic of their food. The cheese crisp was ordered by a lot of people, I saw it on tables throughout the restaurant too. And all of them only had a piece or two ate of it, and people left it behind. It is wafer thin - think catholic church wafer! It was about 12", but nearly paper thin, with some unappetizing cheap cheese melted on it. Ew. Seriously, I think it must just be busy because it's located in a quaint strip mall. A lot of once, and never go back again customers, like me. read more

First time here. Nice atmosphere. Both food plates ordered were dry. Famous carnitas and fajitas were dry. Waitress was not attentive. Busy talking to friends. I had high hopes since our friends have been here before. I would not go back. read more

The food was just ok; it looked better than it was for me at least. It was clearly upscale Mexican food for white people with sodium issues - it lacked depth and heat I'm used to as a AZ native. However, a snow bird from Minnesota would think it was lovely and just the right amount of spice. So if that is the demographic the restaurant is catering to, they nailed it. I ordered Posole and the Hacienda salad. Posole is one of my favorite soups. It's warm and comforting like a hug. The salad was decent but let down by the posole. It lacked depth of flavor and any salt or heat. The broth needed salt and it just didn't have that... Depth of spice you expect. But again, I'm a native. I expect my food to carry some heat to be authentic. The flour tortillas are amazing! I would say whomever is the supplier they should keep or whomever is making them in house - keep forever! The salad was elegant and wonderfully put together. Cocktails need some work but overall ingredients were top notch: I had ordered the a blackberry sage marg. It was all sage with only a hint of blackberry and you could not taste any tequila. Clearly the bartender had not tasted before sending it out or followed the drink instructions. I had to ask for it to be remade, sadly. I felt it could have been a perfectly balanced cocktail, had it been made correctly or maybe a sprig of burnt sage was added to rim instead, but instead of in-house infusions for flavor was clearly just sugar syrups used with a heavy hand. However, the Pineapple Jalapeño turned out ok for my dining partner. No shame for syrups, they more than likely came from Monin, which is an excellent brand, but they are concentrates and a little goes a long long way. I would also suggest at least mocktail option. Gen-Z and Millennials don't drink as much, there was no alt options. Ambiance was good: we were outside when it was still cold out and no one offered us a heater. It would have been a nice gesture. read more

My wife and I met another couple, we'll call him S and her K, for K's birthday on a Thursday night. We all hung out at the bar for about 15 minutes until our table was finally ready. The bartender was super chill and made some tasty margaritas (house margaritas were $5 each on happy hour). With a nice buzz in tow we head to our table. The floor plan is a little scrunched, and the tables are a bit close, but hey, I understand the restaurant needs to make money. We waited another 10-15 minutes to be greeted. Now, having worked in the restaurant industry for 20+ years I cut restaurants A LOT of slack. I don't mind the scrunched tables, or the long wait time, or even waiting to be greeted. What I could NOT STAND was the guy set up with a guitar and speaker BLARING Spanish songs throughout the evening. He was a very talented artist but the sound level was atrociously high and we could not carry on any sort of conversation at our table. This menacing guitarist would occasionally make quips about needing to get tipped, and it was so awkward. This catastrophe of a musician is the reason I'm giving 3 stars. The food was very good. The elote (corn with yummy additions) was sooo good. I ended up with a burrito and everyone else at the table was pleased with their food choices. Unfortunately, I was so engrossed in my food and apparently trying to shovel it in my mouth that while cutting my burrito I slipped and slammed my fork into my plate and sprayed beans all over the front of my shirt. My friends were thoroughly impressed, my wife, not so much. We cut the meal short so we could get away from the BLASTING incoherence of sound from the begger with a guitar and departed ways. All in all, I would absolutely go back as long as there was no live music. If the live music play, then be sure to stay away. read more

Wonderful dinner. Our first time back for in-person dining with social distancing and mask wearing being followed. Made a point to eat on the patio in the fresh air of a comfortable early evening. (Note no reservations taken on weekend.) Happy hour specials are offered. We each had a refreshing Prickly Pear Margarita, on the rocks and salted. Chicken and cheese enchiladas were served hot 'n tasty. Rice and beans were fine. A side of guacamole was fresh-made. Attentive service. A manager also stopped by to see how we were. A nice meal and evening; we'll be back again. read more

Good food and atmosphere!! The service was great !! The beers were nice and cold lots of parking.

First time stopping in and it was during HH. No wait, though it picked up as I sat at my table. I was seated quickly and service was quick and attentive. I only ordered off HH and food items and drinks were fair in flavor and price was expected for margaritas that were more flavorful than the typical classic. The open face cheese crisp is great for the price of $5! Their chips taste homemade and salsa is great! I had the corn but the mexican cheese added I could do without. I gave less than a perfect score because my rating is based only on hh menu and experience. Will come back for sure! HH from 11am! read more

We came on a weekend for happy hour and was seated right away. They have happy hour everyday from 2-6, which is great! Their prices were also very good for happy hour prices. I ordered the Mexican street corn and the carne asada papas Fritas. The corn was good but it needed more cheese and mayonnaise. So if you order this I recommend asking for extra. The fries were a bit dry but the carne asada meat was good. I also ordered the mango margarita which was good. I think they have really good happy hour pricing and I like the fact that it's everyday.
