I'd come back almost exclusively for the elk meatloaf. The elk tenderloin was a tad overcooked and in my opinion did not pair well with the accompanying sides. The caramelized carrots and the charred outside of the tenderloin combined to form an off putting aftertaste. Once past the charred outer layer, the tenderloin was amazing. My wife ordered the fish and chips and those were great as well. The desert was very tasty and decadent. While I do not fault the staff for this, the service was slow, friendly, but slow. It was obvious they were understaffed. An OK experience all around with the meatloaf doing most of the heavy lifting tonight.

When we arrived, we were initially told dogs weren't allowed. I explained that our dog is extremely well-behaved and simply lays quietly under the table. The hostess said that was fine and seated us at a table right next to the outdoor area. After we sat down, three different employees approached us asking whether our dog was a service animal, even though another staff member had already approved her being there. By that point, we felt singled out and uncomfortable. The final employee was particularly rude and suggested we could tie "it" to a tree if we wanted to eat there. Referring to our dog as "it" and suggesting we leave her tied outside was shocking and unnecessary. Rather than continue feeling unwelcome, we decided to order a pizza to go. We had planned to stay for drinks, appetizers, and dinner, but instead we ate in our car. The prosciutto pizza was decent, but it was much saltier than we expected. At that point, we were just hungry and wanted to leave. What was most disappointing wasn't the dog policy itself--businesses are absolutely entitled to set their own policies. It was the inconsistent communication and the way we were treated after being told it was okay to stay. Instead, the experience left us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

We were looking for something near our hotel with a kitchen that opens late and that offers gluten-free options (for my buddy). Iron Horse Tap ended up being the place for us. They serve up American bar food and appetizers with a nice selection of beer, wine and cocktails on their drink menu. Iron Horse Tap is located inside The Plaza and has great views of Mt. Crested Butte's Peak. We were able to walk over from our hotel. It was a chilly night, so we appreciated how warm and cozy the place was. Iron Horse has a number of TVs that show various sporting events. The pizza options on the menu looked good, so order a MOB Pizza with a beer. I like to try the local beers whenever I visit a new town and Iron Horse had a selection of local Colorado beers on tap. Iron Horse Tap had a nice crowd on hand and ended up being a solid first stop for us on this trip to Crested Butte.

Most breweries either neglect the sours and saisons entirely or only give minor seasonal tribute - Chrysalis specializes in sours and takes pride in the craft. From delicate to robust, there will be sours here to suit any sour-lover and that's pretty sweet.

The Strawpile lager I had first was a light copper color with subtle caramel-y flavor and a very smooth finish. Had the Pilsner before, which was perfectly crisp. Fun, friendly atmosphere right in the brewing room, and I heard there's a sister facility in Basalt (I'll stop in) AND something coming for downtown Carbondale. They're doing a ton of great community outreach, too - look for their taps at SkiCo and at non-profit events.

Following the flight, I enjoyed a pint of the Cream Ale. My wife liked the Marzen and the Mangy Moose the best, and she enjoyed two pints of the Marzen. Employees and customers are all very friendly.
