Went here Wednesday around 5 PM after doing some grocery shopping nearby. No customers inside, so was immediately able to order. This was my first time trying iron grill, so I was excited to see what it was all about. I decided to try the steak and chicken hibachi (8.5/10) I think it was pretty tasty and flavorful, only thing was I felt like the portion of meats could've been a little more compared to the large portion of rice and they loaded the vegetable portion with a bunch of onions; whereas, I would've liked more zucchini. I also tried the iron grill roll (9/10) I thought it was very good and would get it again. Didn't have too long of a wait for the food and you could see while waiting that your order was being freshly made and prepared, so that was a plus. I'll totally be back again to try more of their rolls and other hibachi combos. They also have teriyaki combos so I would like to see what the difference is regarding flavors. Extremely fast service but the food was mediocre. I guess I prefer my "hibachi" a little more grilled. The meats didn't have a hint of that grilled meat flavor and that was dissapointing, it's almost like boiled chicken with teriyaki sauce. read more

I've picked up food from Iron Grill 3 times in the past week. Ultimately, I can't provide them a glowing recommendation. Their service is fine and their facility is clean, but there is something lacking with their food. I've had their chicken & shrimp hibachi, their hibachi steak & chicken & shrimp and their shumai, but it took my mom to help me pinpoint the issue - their proteins actually taste like they are frozen and packaged. The biggest culprit in regard to this lies with their steak - it just doesn't have the right taste or texture to be considered steak. I'm not expecting Grade A wagyu beef, but when compared to the similarly hibachi-style Sarku (inside Lynnhaven Mall), there is a difference. Maybe I should stay away from Iron Grill's steak altogether, but they also tend to overcook their chicken (I came across too many overly dry pieces of chicken). I had a chance to try their sushi - we ordered the Iron Grill roll (spicy crab meat, avocado, grilled salmon, salmon & avocado on top with eel spicy mayo), Volcano roll (tuna, cucumber & crab meat; deep fried with spicy mayo & eel sauce & sriracha sauce on top) & a Spicy Tuna roll. All three rolls were solid - I would return for those. Finally, I'm not impressed at all with their fried rice. Their fried rice appears to be just rice cooked with an inferior soy sauce. I would go so far as to say they might pour soy sauce into some steamed rice, mix it and that's it (no frying involved). White/steamed rice is the best way to go since your proteins are already cooked with soy sauce and especially because the soy sauce they use is salty. Iron Grill gets a so-so recommendation from me. Maybe stick with the sushi, avoid the steak and choose regular steamed rice and you'll be good to go. I appreciate you, though, Iron Grill. Thank you for your effort. JV read more

I tried this place and I'm overall disappointed. I walked in and said hello to the person standing behind the counter and they didn't say anything. If they said something it must have been in their head. I ordered using the kiosk because the person behind the counter doesn't take orders you have to use the kiosk. The kiosk has no images when ordering they all say image unavailable. I ordered the chicken and steak hibachi with an egg roll. The egg roll was hot and tasty. The chicken was DRY and the steak was chewy. I ordered it dine-in and received it to-go. The resultant was clean. read more

Nice little mall style hibachi resteraunt with a dining area. Prices are fair and food is cooked fresh to order. Staff is friendly and attentive and there as self serve kiosks to order. I ordered the chicken, steak and shrimp hibachi and poured the yum yum sauce over it. Spent about 16 bucks and had dinner, and enough for lunch and dinner the next day. Great value for the price to be honest. Will definitely come back if I'm ever nearby again. read more

Recommended! This was our first time at Iron Grill. We had the steak and shrimp hibachi. The ingredients were pre-cooked instead of being cooked to order on the grill. The steak was moist and tender. The shrimps were cooked to perfection. The vegetables were tender and the rice was delicious. It was not salty. The shrimp tempura sushi was DELICIOUS! Staff were friendly. You enter your order at the kiosk and it is prepared very quickly. Sorry, I didn't take pictures of the food, because we wanted to eat it hot. I will add pictures from our next order. Stay away! Stopped in around 4 on a Friday afternoon to try this new spot on Little Creek after seeing an online ad. Big mistake. Had the chicken/shrimp teriyaki. Chicken was "extruder meat" not even close to a bird for a long time, dry, tasted like it had been frozen forever. Shrimp were few and far between, maybe 5 or 6 tiny ones, also far from fresh and rendered tasteless by freezing. Veggies were flavorless mush, teriyaki sauce was non descript and added nothing to the dish. This place is terrible and prices are too high for what you get. $15 bucks for rice and really bad for mushy slop. read more

Iron Grill is not far from my home so I order delivery from them frequently. Excellent combination plates and sides, and good-size portions. For Father's Day I had Hibachi Chicken with Vegetables & Fried Rice, and an order of Shrimp Tempura. Chicken pieces were tender, Shrimp Tempura was hot and crunchy. I have also had Teriyaki Beef, Teriyaki Beef & Shrimp, and several varieties of sushi. Highly recommend for when you're in the mood for Asian eats. read more

The first time I came here a few weeks ago was spur of the moment...Dominos had messed my order up so I canceled n came here. I ordered steak n shrimp I believe with the fried rice and ginger sauce...I thought everything was pretty good. I was impressed with the portions, everything was hot and somewhat fresh and I liked the veggie mix. Paid like $16 bucks and the food came up fast. Fast forward to today (6/8/24) and I order the shrimp n chicken w/fried rice. It was not the same unfortunately . The rice is kinda mushy and ain't even fried rice...it's half white and somewhat brown I see one carrot and one pea...the veggie mix and chicken taste old. Didnt have mushrooms unless that only comes w/the steak. Idk. I most likely won't come back. I thought hibachi is cooked fresh on the grill not cooked ahead of time and left sitting til someone order. Stopped by this place since it's new in my area. First thing I noticed was the pricing. Everything is VERY reasonably priced! Inside the restaurant it is very clean and staffed well. The day I came in there almost seemed to be too many staff members working behind the counter. Orders can be placed via ordering kiosk on the counter or by speaking with staff member. This was a little confusing because the ordering kiosk were in front of the staff who could take your orders so it was a little clunky as far as customers piling up at the door. I ordered the hibachi chicken and steak which came with steamed or fried rice and hibachi vegetable mix of zucchini, onions, and mushrooms. We also tried the shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, and California roll. The food was delicious! The staff were very friendly and helpful. I did take a star away for the exceptionally minimal decor and lack of condiments. The seating area was clean but very bare with only a few tables and chairs to dine in. They only had soy sauce at the time of my visit, none of the normal hibachi style sauces. Also the sushi rolls were very thin but that may have just been due to a lack of experience for the person preparing them. All in all, this is a solid lunch or dinner spot, takeout or dine in. With more time and support from the community, I could see this review increasing to a full five star! read more

I decided to try this place rather than the other fast food restaurants nearby. I initially called to place my order but I was politely was told they don't accept call in orders. I received a text that my order would be ready in 20 minutes. My order was ready when I got there about 15 minutes later. I got the hibachi chicken and shrimp along with an egg roll. The rice was OK the shrimp were good the chicken was slightly overcooked not horrible, just the smaller cubes were dry. The broccoli was cooked well, but the zucchini was also over done (when compared to typical hibachi. I ate enough of the entree and decided to try the egg roll. BIG mistake the egg roll was absolutely disgusting. Not sure what they did, but I couldn't swallow the one bite I took. I ended up spitting it out and threw the rest away immediately. The taste was indescribably awful. They get 4 stars for service, promptness and the hibachi. I will get hibachi again maybe shrimp only but I'm staying away from their egg roll for sure. What a great concept, fast food hibachi, all the great flavor and massive amount of food, at half the price. This may cost you the show, but once we've seen one or two we don't need to pay double the price to see the volcano again, and bonus points on the fact we don't have to wait.
