Electric brake wires installed by Iron Bear were cut by the movement of my trailer while I was on the highway. And this was the first time I had used the trailer since Iron Bear did this work. UNSAFE WORK. On Sept. 11, 2019 I paid Iron Bear Trailer $1,284.06 to install electric brakes on my boat trailer. I was planning a 1,000 mile round trip from Denver to Bear Lake, UT the following year (2020) and I wanted to make sure my trailer was good and safe. This was the first trip I made with the trailer b/c I have been working on the boat in preparation for this trip. Everything worked fine with the trailer and brakes until about mile 900 of 1000. My brake controller started flashing "nc" meaning "not connected". It was night time. I pulled off the highway and unplugged the trailer, and plugged it back in. The trailer lights worked but my brake controller continued to flash "nc". I could tell the brakes were not working b/c the boat was pushing on my truck when I slowed down. I cautiously drove the rest of the way home. The next day in the light I examined the wiring and discovered what you see in the pictures. The brake wires were run directly between the frame of the trailer and the U-brackets that hold the axle to the leaf springs. Some bumps in the road must have bottomed out the leaf springs, pressing the U-bracket up against the trailer frame and crushing / cutting the brake lines. Unbelievable. Unsafe. Now of course the leaf springs on my trailer bottoming out is a sign that my trailer suspension needs work. However, I wouldn't think a shop like Iron Bear would fail at running wires for such a simple job. FAILURE. I will be re-connecting and re-routing my own brake wires, and I will never go to Iron Bear Trailer again. read more

I am writing this review through some tears. We had a blown out tire in Limon, Co on our 41ft 5th wheel which turned into a fire, which turned into a broken axel. The diesel shop was unable to find an axel in the area. We called Iron Bear and they said to bring it down. We loaded it and drove 78 miles with fingers crossed. Merle came out and measured it and said he could have one made by Tuesday. We needed to be in Montana by Sunday as we have a granddaughter on the way! Behind the counter an angel named Casandra did some arm twisting and between everyone there they made it happen. The entire staff was so kind and caring. They went WAY above and beyond to get us out of there quick to get the part back to hopefully get it fixed before the repair shop closed for the weekend. About 8 months ago, I had axles and tires replaced on a 14' enclosed trailer due to tire wear issues from the manufacturer. I was pleased with the replacements and repair work: 1) the tire wear issue was gone 2) the trailer was ready for pick up when they said it would be and for the price they quoted me. I left happy. A couple of weeks ago, I peered under the trailer and noticed a nut missing from a bolt securing a shackle strap and equalizer. Clearly, a big problem! After speaking with the team at Iron Bear, I stopped by to pick up a new nut and bolt (not safe to drive without that nut in place) and the Manager called me back asking for me to bring the trailer in for them to look at the issue. When I brought the trailer over, after the Manager looked under the trailer (for some sign of self-inflicted damage which may explain the nut falling off; there was none), he offered / insisted to have his team completely redo the job. Exactly the response I was hoping for; that nut should NEVER fall off (crimped nuts w/ a tac weld). Their team replaced every bolt under the trailer and tac welded everything that should be. How that nut fell off in ~7 months is a mystery. Mistakes happen. Iron Bear's response makes all the difference! The Iron Bear team took responsibility, pro-actively communicated with me, and repaired the concern promptly. Exactly what I was hoping for and in a very professional manner. Brad is the man! This is a extremely professional staff you're dealing with. It's never going to be cheap to service equipment but at least with this crew you're going to get absolute quality. I did some awesome upgrades to my trailer here. The parts staff is very knowledgeable and also had a axle lift install done. Here's the facts. I've put over 4000 miles on my trailer after the work iron bear performed. Only thing one small issue with my axle which could have been a combination of bad seals and user error on my part, nonetheless Brad and the team made it right immediately. I'm just finishing up my third trip to iron bear in the last 2 days for the same set of bushings. I brought examples of the bushings I needed replaced all three times. Over an hour of drive time for each trip. Most recently only one of the handful I ordered was wrong, so it was easily overlooked, but completely stalled my project. They didn't have the exact leaf springs I needed, but I was really talked into one they had that was just a little bit longer. I left feeling confident, but I installed them and sent a picture to another employee, who told me they would not work. Told me to come back and he would swap them out at no charge. I couldn't bring the ones I had just purchased, because they were on the trailer, and also being on blocks I needed to leave them on. So I bought a different replace pair with a promise that I could return the others once I could get them off the trailer. Again, I was convinced to buy a pair that wasn't a exact match - I didn't like it, but they really sold me on it. So, after 8+ hours of driving back and forth from iron bear to my house, another 3-4hrs of installing and uninstalling leaf springs, I am back at square one - reinstalling my old leaf springs. I was convinced to buy wet bolts I don't need, instead of dry bolts, I bought metal bushings, and returned them without a refund because they weren't in the right receipt (my fault, but still...), I've now missed the annual trip I was replacing the leaf springs before, and all that coupled with literally 8+hrs of drive time, I am out hundreds of dollars by doing business with this place. Just to add insult to injury, after being assured I wouldn't be charged to return the parts I was convinced to buy, I just received a $14 restocking fee... read more

Our custom boat trailer was a disaster to find parts for, and Iron Bear made the process so much easier and less stressful. I took a 1993 Sundowner horse trailer to them to check bearings, replace a latch & lock, fix the electrical wiring and make sure everything is working order. When I picked it up Joshua is a fast talker & quickly hitched it to my truck. He said everything was good and working. NOT TRUE! When I got home I noticed the latches Lock was missing completely and a back light was dangeling out. I called to ask about it. I was asked my name then was transferred directly to Joshua (the service manager). That is what happened every time I gave my name. Joshua told me that since I was just going to sale it he thought I didn't want to put much $ into it. After 3 efforts at repairs (including Joshua coming to my home) things that should have been done/fixed are still aren't. FACTS! Never assume what your costumers want and intentions are. 1. Communication! Joshua never called me once to ask me any questions or tell me of any problems with parts or to even to tell me it was ready to be picked up. 2. Honesty! Really fix what you say is fixed...latch working, all wiring, all lights, axel replaced & barring done. 3. Attitude! "Costumers yell and are never happy." 4. Lip service or being careful with your words! Don't say & Don't tell me "I have your back" when it's proven otherwise. Don't tell me "I don't give mangers names and owners names" . Parts managers don't tell me "they did everything you could" when wires are still hanging loose & not connected underneath. Don't tell me "I have latches in stock but it will cost too much to take the door apart to replace it" then after I insist a locking latch be replaced...Don't tell me later "That it's out of production, my trailer is too old and they don't make the parts anymore. 4. "Half Ass" workmanship! Just replace "ALL" attachments, screws and rivets. Don't leave open holes that will allow water in to cause future damage. Don't just grease something to look like it was worked on. 5. Lies! "the owner?...isn't here." I have owned & managed companies so I do understand both sides of dealing with people. read more

So I go to get some axle seals for a 5 lug boat trailer and I give the customer service guy the wrong information. I take the hub off at the lake and they are too small. So I measure the exterior and interior of the seal by cutting a zip tie to the correct lengths. I also took a hard look at my wheel in a pic and saw that it's a 6 lug, not 5. We quickly find the correct seals and have a laugh...and then the guy gives me a free set of seals with the next size larger interior to make sure I get it right. I don't know if you will always get a free set with your purchase, but I'm a lifetime customer and raving fan! read more

I went to Jims and the guy at the cointer just smiled.....they immediately knew that I was going to have a heck of a time finding a Dico hub for my old trailer, so I went home and tried to find it online with no luck. Our 50+ years old boat trailer suffered a broken axle on the way to a fishing trip. We had it towed to Iron Bear and being inexperienced with the nuances of boat trailers we were at their mercy. From the very beginning the owner, Brad, and Josh the Service Technician, were very professional and patient with us to access the damage and recommend possible solutions, taking extra time to explain everything to us in terms we could understand. Due to the age of the trailer the fix wasn't as simple as just replacing the axle requiring some custom work to be performed. Josh walked us through step by step of what needed to be done and why when providing the estimate. In addition, he suggested some other improvements to increase the towing safety of the trailer. At no time did we ever feel any pressure. Because the axle broke at the end of the season and the work was going to take place after the cold set in they allowed us access to the boat on their lot so that we could winterize it. During their testing of trailer after installing the axle and electric brakes they determined it wasn't performing up to their expectations. They then installed a bigger axle and an upgrade to the brakes at no additional charge. Brad expertly customized the tongue on the trailer to swing, increasing its strength and making storage much easier. When we picked up the finished trailer Brad went through step by step what had been done and how to maintain the trailer going forward. It was a chilly day in early December, and we experienced a major brake problem as the brakes on our heavy-duty trailer were locking up as we started down I-25 on our way to Texas. We were in a hurry, so we crippled the truck and trailer to a local truck repair shop for diagnosis. When they saw it was an electric-over-hydraulic brake system with a new brake controller, they referred us to Iron Bear, saying they were the best in Denver for such issues. We called Iron Bear and spoke with Josh. He said they were booked solid for the rest of the week, but he asked a few diagnostic questions and said if we got there early the next day, he would take a look at it for us. I thanked him, but I was determined to get to Dumas TX that night. It didn't happen. We called around, and took it to another shop. They couldn't figure out the cause of the problem. The next day, after calling several other companies, I called Iron Bear again and spoke with Josh. He agreed to check out the brake issue, so we drove to Iron Bear. Josh and another very skilled and professional technician quickly went to work diagnosing the problem. Within thirty minutes, they had systematically isolated the problem to one of two possible causes. Long story short, after trial-and-error revealed the actual cause was a wiring issue with the truck, we were able to get back on the road. I am very grateful to the professional and helpful staff at Iron Bear for taking the time and extra care to figure out the problem, even though their work schedule was already full.
