Had a horrible growling sound coming from the rear end. I took my 07 silverado to 3 different shops before I found WD. The first shop says CV axles (which it was not), the second confirmed bad pinion bearing but was overly confident not to check backlash and preload. Third shop was under experienced with diff repair. At this point I was exhausted, down on my luck, having wasted $500 in inspection costs to no avail, I was about to scrap the chevy seeing my only option was to swap a reman axle for $4k plus labor. Then I called WD. Dave took the time to speak with me extensively about the issue and encouraged me not to scrap the truck but instead remove the guts for his shop to recondition at a fraction of the cost. They started immediately when I arrived with the parts and finished installing a total of 8 bearings and 3 seals in under 2 hours. Remarkable timing. There was an issue with the pinion support bearing being Chinese (which came with the kit and I would have had to install myself in the diff). I brought this to Dave's attention after I got home and he agreed to meet me half way to give me a USA made bearing. He stands behind quality so much as to make a trip. I mean, what shop or mechanic does this? So I get it all bolted on and texted him the gear pattern. We spoke a bunch back and forth, but ultimately he approved the pattern. What do you know, the growling is GONE! David, Lynn, you guys are awesome! It is so difficult to find a reputable mechanic. Your shop stands against the stigma. 10 stars! Seriously. read more

Was on a cross-country trip from MN to AZ with a full car (family and all) and started hearing that dreaded sound from my the rear differential... fortunately having some automotive knowledge I was suspicious right away of what was going on and managed to limp into Denver and find Dave and Western Drivetrain. We got there at 5AM. They were in the shop by 6:30, were diagnosing my car by 7, had a diagnosis/bid/time estimate to repair by 7:45. They had all the parts in stock. They dropped us off at a local restaurant to wait, picked us back up, and had the car done and we were gone by 11AM. I can't say enough good things about this shop and the team there. Kind, friendly, accommodating, quick, knowledgable and very fair prices. In addition to the great service, Dave also took the time to explain to me exactly what happened, why it failed, provided the pinion bearing that was the culprit, and wrote up a great summary of the issue. I was able to take that back to the team that had rebuilt the rear end just a year before and have a very honest, straightforward, simple discussion that resulted in a very satisfactory outcome that both me and the original shop were both satisfied with without and disagreement or debate. My hope is that I do not have to see them again (it would mean that I had another differential problem on a cross-country trip), but if I did, I don't think I would go anyplace else in Denver for this type of work. Thanks WD team! read more

I had rear axle rebuilt /replaced at an unbeatable price. All together I have taken my vehicle to Dave 3 times after rear axle replacement in the last 3 months for work on 3 different issues and each time I was treated very well and the work was done better then anyone else would do in Denver or Aurora. This a true family business, and it shows in the way they treat their costumer. I would not take my vehicle anywhere else. read more

This place is a total rip off watch out for the guy name GIO he's the biggest rip off there told me my transfer case was going out but it was really my transmission was going out ...after they finished the job I noticed my transmission was leaking fluids and I took it back to them and i and they couldn't detect the leak, then three days later, my transmission went out.... I recommend not doing business here. read more

I am setting up an 8 3/4 Mopar differential and I needed some pinion shims (challenging to locate). I went to WD and talked to two of the employees about what I was doing. They stopped what they were working on and gave me a good solid 10 minutes of there time. They found the shims and sent me on my way. They got customer service down, I'll be back! read more

These guys are awesome. They were responsive, timely, fair, and extremely competent. They worked on a leaking rear axle on my '61 Corvette, and it was difficult to narrow down the cause of the leak. But, they didn't give up until it was fixed. The Owner even came in on a snowy Saturday so that I could pick up the vehicle when it was convenient for me. That showed me everything I needed to see. They earned a lifelong customer!! DF read more

If you have a drivetrain issue, definitely bring your vehicle here. They replaced my rear differential and a year later it's still working great. I bent my back axle a little later and brought my vehicle back in, they fixed it in a day. They are honest and know what they are doing. I have recommended multiple family members to bring their vehicles in and they all have been happy with their service. I hope I don't have any more drivetrain issues, but if I do, they will be the first/only shop I call. read more

Whoohoo! As good as it gets, is literally the best description possible for this place. Outstanding service! Outstanding customer service, and out standing business ethics. I would recommend this place to anyone, at any time. If more automotive places followed this business model none of the downtrodden skepticism would exist regarding them. I am extremely happy with them, and their service. read more

Great service from honest people. I brought in my 1969 Bronco to have a leaking rear end resealed and to check out a front end vibration at highway speed. They had my vehicle back the next day with everything working perfect. They even corrected some brake problems in the back that were done wrong by Brakes Plus at no cost. Will definitely use this business again and recommend it to anyone else looking for fair, honest labor. Albert B read more

As a business owner, I especially appreciate this company! Dave, the shop manager saved me on a Friday afternoon! I was driving 8 hours to Denver for a wedding in my supercharged 86 when my driveshaft somehow snapped out of nowhere about 35 miles east of Aurora. After calling roadside assistance, I did a quick search and found Western Drivetrain. I'm so glad I did! I called Dave and informed him of my situation, he was very understanding and even gave me his personal number so we could communicate directly. I assumed roadside-assistance would have a tow-truck to me pretty quickly, but I ended up waiting 4 hours for a tow to arrive because the towing company that my insurance chose was all-around incompetent. It ended up being after 6PM before I got to his shop. Dave obviously really cares about a fellow person-in-need. I texted him updates along the way, and the garage door was open for me, with a lift waiting (on a Friday evening, they close at 5PM). The guys has my car on a lift within 5 minutes and I was able to see the problem. I let Dave know when I needed to be home and he assured me that he would make it happen. The next morning (Saturday), Dave called me with several options. Dave had a custom driveshaft made locally. The new driveshaft is stronger, cheaper, and retains the aftermarket one-piece design that was custom to my car. All of the guys were super accommodating and helpful. I wish I lived closer just so I could utilize these guys! I cannot say enough good things! Thank you, Western Drivetrain! Almost forgot to mention, Dave didn't charge me a dime of labor. Of course I made sure to tip well! read more

I took my 2013 Tacoma to these guys after going all over Denver trying to to find out why my truck was making a horrible grinding sound from the back end all other places told me they charged anywhere from $75 -$145 HR just to diagnose the problem, these guys did it for free , then the other places quoted me between $1000-$3200 to fix my problem , I got it fixed there for $300. I am EXTREMELY HAPPY ....It turned out to be a bad drive shaft. I live along the foothills and would drive to Aurora for the st guys any day.... These guys are awesome.... read more

Great guys! I had been quoted $2500 by two places that had no idea what was specifically wrong with my rear differential. I was referred here and had my car running beautifully in less than 3 hours for 70% less. They welcomed me to watch the process and the technicians even worked late to respect my time as a small business owner that has trouble parting with his truck. Great experience. read more

These guys are AWESOME. Had a front differential on an 03 Yukon that was really starting to make noise. They got it in, did a rebuild and it is now PERFECT. Did the work they said, when they said they'd do it and for the amount they quoted me. Isn't this EXACTLY what you want from someone? Can't recommend them highly enough. read more

These are the people to see when needing drivetrain repair! We were having a problem with our transfer case motor shorting out and randomly locking our AWD system into 4L, which creates major troubles. Western Drivetrain worked with us to narrow down the issue and get it resolved. They have answered every question I have had, while explaining everything in a way I could understand. They were honest, up front, approachable, listened, and were respectful. Thanks for the great service and all of your help with our Durango. read more

Great experience with Western Drivetrain. Steve got my Blazer in almost immediately to diagnose drive-line slack. They diagnosed the problem immediately, got parts in to replace rear pinion, axles and seals, and were very clear on what did/didn't need to be done. I was ready to have the front axle done as well, but was advised that it was probably not necessary at the time. Very satisfied with the work. Highly recommended! read more

Brought my 06 Tahoe in that had been making progressively worse howling noise from the rear differential. I had an appointment and Steve did an excellent job of keeping me informed of what was going to happen. Before I left he made sure I knew there was a small possibility that if I decided to have the work done after they gave me a quote it might not be finished by end of day, but it would be no later than the next morning. He called a couple hours later to let me know the carrier bearings were shot but everything else looked good. He gave me a quote of under $1000 (less than 1/2 of another quote I received from another shop) and said they could probably still have it done that day. I authorized the work (which also included axle bearings and seal) and sure enough it was done by 4:00pm the same day. I asked if I could see the old bearings and Steve walked me back to the shop and had the tech show me the bearings. Differentials and axles are all these guys do and they do it well! They warranty their work and as someone who does 90% of my own work on my vehicle I can vouch that they know what they're doing and are honest. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my family and friends and if I ever have axle issues again this is where I'll go. Thanks Steve and Western Drivetrain! read more

I had my rear differential rebuilt here it lasted for about 4 months and cost me 2500. 00. These guy suck I rebuilt the same differential myself after doing some research and haven't had a problem since. I didn't call them back on the issue because I really don't need to hear the excuses and the bullshit. Lesson learned do it yourself and save your money. read more

It was a year ago that I visited to get a quote on my '98 jeep Cherokee I had recently purchased. It was making noise from the rear-end. They constantly condescended me by telling me my jeep was 'rusted out' and they 'hope I didn't pay much for it' as it would be at least $1500, up to $3500 to repair the rear diff after their test drive. The undercarriage on my cherokee is actually surprisingly corrosion-free other than some of the old CO suspension & steering components. Anyway, I was going to think it over so I picked up my jeep after-hours to take it home. Upon start-up, the jeep idled at 2200 rpm (it ran flawlessly when I dropped it off) so I knocked on the door to see if anyone was there. The door was unlocked so I stepped in and saw two men in the office, imbibing and laughing. I told them of the idle issue and they immediately became defensive and said they didn't even pop the hood so they were not liable at all. What they didn't know is that I am an ASE certified mechanic. I bit my tongue and took it home to figure it out myself. What I found what that they tripped the ECU by draining the battery and jump-starting it. I found fresh clamp marks on the battery as evidence of this. Guess they DID pop the hood after all, and had everything to do with this issue. Anyway I pulled off the neg battery cable and reset the ECU to fix it. Never had the issue again. Furthermore, I then took the jeep to another shop and they found the original culprit, a worn wheel bearing. A few bucks later the jeep was smooth sailing. Good thing I didn't shell out $3500 for nonsense from a company that lacks basic respect, communication skills, and honesty. I'm sure they treat you like gold and do decent work, if you blindly throw your cash at them. Full disclosure: they did say they would try to diagnose (at no charge) the issue, but at that point I had lost all trust in them. I was always cordial with them, yet they never called me back to see if the issue was resolved or if I wanted any work done. Guilty conscience I suppose. read more

Steve and Dave at Western Drivetrain did a fantastic job. Let me know what the cost would be and timeframe. I brought my truck to them for a leaking axle seal. The didn't sell me on anything I didn't need and the best part was when I picked it up my bill was well under the quoted amount. I would recommend to anyone! read more

My Dakota was making a metal on metal sound that was proportional to the speed it was moving. The faster I drove The k\louder and higher pitch the sound became. I discovered it was coming from the truck rear in the differential. I knew no one here in CO that I could call. My A.S.E. Master Tech. in IL led me to call these guys. I talked with Bill over the phone, with his expertise and experience he told me what it likely was and gave me an awesome price. I brought my truck in and they had it fixed in 2 days. Other places would have charged me closer to $2000, but Bill had it finished with LESS than $1000 (that's with the 5 hours labor). They even showed me my old differential parts and educated me in the damage done to those parts. My truck, now is smooth rolling with no noise coming from the Diff. read more
