This is a staple in the Bosnian community in St Louis' Dutchtown/Bevo Mill Area. Irkisic Bros is the quintesential Eastern European Butcher market. It is here where you can find excelent cuts of meat for Balkan style cooking. I go there for their Cevapi, (the very famous Former Yugoslavian speciality of beef/lamb sausages). Their prices are excelent and the quality of the meat is very good. The interior is very clean, nicely done, modern. It's a place for the local Bosnians, and so if you are not Bosnian you might feel a bit out of place, but that's ok. You can get an excelent taste of Bosnian culture there, just by observing the characters, very classic Balkan. Their display of meat is very impressive, clean, well kept, and at a very good price. They also have other kinds of European goods, Sausages, Cheese, Mineral Water, and an array of European chocolates. The location is right there in Gravois, it;s easy to find. I come here quite often (as an outsider) specifically for the cevapi. These make for a good lunch snack. Two pounds of these cavapi is $8.00, but it lasts a long time. The staff could be a little friendlier, but i kind of understand that it's a business that caters soley to the Bosnian community, so they might not really understand why someone other would come in. But I wanted to take the liberty in writing a review and getting this great place some exposure. The first time i walked in, The onwer was so friendly, and the butcher came from the back to give me 4 speciality sausages for free, to try at home. If you are in the neighborhood, give this place a try, they have excelent variety for cooking at home. Huge slabs of meat, ribs, and etc, all at a fair price. I am a regular here, and I have nothing to do with the community. But nonetheless, it's a special place in the heart of Dutchtown! read more
