Shoutout to the staff here! They're incredibly friendly and helpful, and I so appreciate that they do their best to help the customers. Fresh Thyme isn't the cheapest, but I find that they have a unique selection of items that I might not find in other neighboring grocery stores. They sometimes have really great deals on select items, and it makes up for the pricier items that I get along with them. Overall, it's a good location to come for smaller purchases! read more

It a food desert in that part of the city. So I like having this store. The produce is decent. The other stuff is great selection but expensive. Which is okay honestly for convenience. Parking is super easy too which I appreciate in the city. And it's close to lots of things like a movie theater and places to hangout and walk around. read more

Fresh Thyme is a gem, but the real star here is the bakery section. Their bread selection is incredible--always fresh, warm, and perfectly baked. I specifically love their artisan loaves; great crust on the outside and soft on the inside. It's hard to leave without grabbing a fresh baguette or sourdough. Walking in this market, it smelled so good . I'm not sure if it was flowers , soaps or basil. I absolutely was mesmerized. Well lit and colorful. Plenty of juices , veggies, fruits available. Everytime I come here seeing 1 thing is fixed and a new issue came up. Watch your receipts. Note down shelf prices. They charged me double for Hillside turkey lunch meat - shelf price: 3.99, check out price 6.99. Bag of "organic" lime shelf price: 3.99, check out price: 1.99 per lime! I caught them both. They only fixed the lunch meat price. I gave up on the limes. read more

I stopped here while I was in town and since I had a king suite with a fridge etc etc I wanted some supplies for my room so I stopped here because my area has FTMs and I'm familiar shopping at them. The non alcoholic drinks like soda, water etc were all together. The liquor department had isles with everything except all the hard liquor like vodka, gin, whiskey etc etc which baffled me so is hard liquor not sold here. So I looked around and found all the hard liquor, it's a separate department all to its self with tall isles and long ladders like a horror movie library. The person working the department grabs your bottle because the customer isn't allowed to and you have to pay at the separate cash register in the hard liquor department before you can leave with it. I have travel all over the country over the years and I have never seen anything like this. read more

I've been shopping here since they opened and have noticed pros and cons, though regardless it's the best grocery store in the CWE/Midtown area. Pros: Their pricing is pretty good overall - I'd say better than Schnucks, not as good as Aldi or Walmart. The store is very clean, well organized, well staffed, and I always feel safe being there. Checkout is a breeze, the lines never take long. Parking is super easy too. Has a garage (shared with the Foundery). Good selection of local goods! Cons: Lack of generic items. There are some Meijer products, but a few areas only have expensive brand name items. I try not to buy breads or baking ingredients here for this reason. The selection changes frequently and products are often out of stock - you can't really count on something you bought being there the next time. I swear there is not ONE shopping cart that doesn't have extremely loud, squeaky, broken wheels! read more

FT did a terrific job rehabbing this old industrial building. The slightly gritty atmosphere really fits in with the Foundry complex and the surrounding neighborhood. Somewhat catty-cornered from IKEA and a few short blocks from St. Louis University and its dorms, this should be a welcome addition to the neighborhood. There is a Schnucks grocery within a mile, but Fresh Thyme emphasizes fresh and organic. It really pulls off those themes while indulging in locally made items also. It also feels larger than its suburban locations. A floral department and larger liquor area, for examples, are unique here. Convenient garage parking is adjacent to the store. read more

Fresh Thyme is a great addition to the CWE. The other grocery stories in the neighborhood should be shaking in their boots, with this new kid in the hood. I have always been a fan of the FT in Kirkwood and this one totally blows them away. The produce and meat departments were very impressive, they were making my inner chef want to buy one of everything. The lay-out of the store flows well and the aisles are wide enough for a smooth flow of two-way traffic. I was also impressed with how they used end-caps on each of the aisles to feature and promote "local" products. Fresh Thyme may be a national chain, but they still care about the local vendors. Be sure to also check out, Iron Drop Biscuits and Beyond. I'll just say, they are mind blowing for this ole farm boy. Only thing that I saw as a negative, is no cashiers. Welp! They've been open just two days and I've been EACH DAY! Stay away from the Bisquits or you will be there everyday also!! They do not accept their normal rewards at this location and that is a GOOD thing because they really have gone thru and priced reasonably. I mean fresh food everyday and sooo close! Also, they feature tons of truly local companies. Also, they took the time and trained their staff and they are the typical friendly and always offering assistance bunch that I've become accustomed to when shopping at other locations! Fruit Was Not Fresh - Our bananas were brown inside, even though the skin was yellow with no bruises, almost all of the blackberries and strawberries were mostly molded, the watermelon was dried out on the inside, the peaches were over ripe and gritty, mango juice was too thick. The cantaloupe and red grapes were the only fruit that was edible out of a $51.98 bill. This was my first time trying Fresh Thyme. I guess I will try Soulard Market next time. read more

TLDR: Good staff, expensive, sometimes bad quality As a SLU student, Fresh Thyme is the grocery store I go to when I'm in a time crunch or just need a few things. Fresh Thyme has its pros: it's in a super convenient location, it's well-organized, and they have a lot of products. However, it is also wildly overpriced and has sold expired food to myself or friends of mine before. For example, FT's laundry detergent is 50% more than the price of laundry detergent at Target and other competitors. Similarly, toilet paper is double the price at FT when compared to Target or even Schnucks. When they're in such a convenient place, they can hike up certain prices, but it has definitely reached a tipping point. Other products, like snacks and frozen veggies and fruit are equally affordable here, but they still overcharge for many necessities. Furthermore, I got pomegranate arils from here once and they tasted almost fizzy and fermented. I checked the expiration date and they were expired for over a month! A friend of mine told me she found a frozen pizza that was moldy and let a manager know about it, and they said to just put the pizza back. As for its pros, FT is ideal for a quick in and out run for some basic groceries like fruit or bread. They also have amazing sushi on Thursdays for $5! The sushi chefs are personable and will help you pick out what's best for you. The staff is generally helpful as well. One time, there was an incident in the store where I woman was yelling up and down the aisles and moved towards the exit and was blocking it. A worker gladly led me through another exit so that I could leave safely and avoid the scene. During this incident, the staff handled it well and professionally! read more

Beautiful and vibrant store. It is very clean and organized with a good selection of fresh produce, vitamins/healthcare, to-go meals, and frozen foods. It gives a "Whole Foods" vibe - kind of upscale, but not absurdly expensive. I especially love that they highlight local goods throughout the place! I was surprised that there is only self-checkout. I didn't have any issues with it, but I can see it being a problem if someone had a lot to purchase/didn't know what to scan or if there are issues with the machine. Fresh Thyme is now in my weekly rotation primarily for fresh organic produce, dairy and eggs, and sometimes meats/seafood. It's always a pleasant trip here! Pros: Good selection of fresh veggies and fruits Staff is great and very eager to help Great layout Easy parking Wonderful supplements/healthcare section - lots of "cleaner" products and a huge variety of supplements/skincare/healthcare products Seafood is scaled/cleaned - thank goodness, whole fish is already cleaned/descaled, unlike Whole Foods CWE where you literally have to ask them to do it Raspberry yogurt covered pretzels - omg yum Cons: Self checkout lanes only - some of the items are wonky like I scanned an eggplant and got an error message which locked my screen and needed to wait for an employee to unlock for me. And then another time I pressed the shortcut for avocados and i unknowingly paid for large avos which was 2.5x the price of regular avos. Maybe I'm just really bad at this lol. Checkout terminal does not accept app loyalty/digital coupons - it's been a few months and this is still lacking. This location is still not on their website/system. They really need to get this going bc I come here too often to not get loyalty points or utilize their digital coupons on their app. Grocery/pantry selection is lacking so you'll probably have to make a trip to another grocer for typical items - you'll probably not be able to find something very specific. This place is so nice! I went around 11am so there weren't too many people and I could take the time to explore the offerings. I love the local product sections and the signage in the aisles makes it very easy to spot local products. Everything was perfectly stacked and clean and I wanted to buy everything. They had a lot of speciality items, including a lot of gluten free snacks and gluten free pie crust and phyllo dough (which I need to go back for). They even had dunkaroos, which made me very nostalgic. read more

I can only speak to the Fresh Thyme in Kirkwood, Missouri. The manager is an absolute jerk. While we have had communication issues with this store, this experience takes the cake. I asked my husband to pick up 6 cartons of soup which was no longer being made. The grocery manager (a nice guy) had told me they were one for full price, and the 2nd for half price. We had actually bought some of this discontinued item several days earlier. On this occasion, my husband went in to pick up the order and said what the price should be. The manager and two others "ganged up on him" and my husband said it was near violent, they told him to go to Wholefoods and not to shop there again, and there was yelling that the whole store could hear, right at the entrance to the store. My husband said he never wanted to go there again. I called when I heard this and told the manager that the price had been verified by the grocery manager, and we had already bought some the other day. He hung up on me. After this, I called another store farther away, and this exact pricing was VERIFIED. The rest of the employees at the Kirkwood store must be very unhappy with this manager. In closing, I have not had bad experiences like this with other employees, but since this guy runs everything, his stench pervades the Kirkwood store. read more

So excited to have a Fresh Thyme near where I live! The previous closest one was in Maplewood so this new location is very convenient. The selection inside is fantastic and vast. I especially appreciate the fact that you can place an order at the deli, go do your shopping and your items will be ready for you in a bin by the deli. There are lots of staff members available and they all are so friendly. This will definitely be my go-to grocery store from now on! read more

Driving downtown and saw this place! I'd never been, so I swung around to take a quick look. It was very empty (because it was 7:15 in the morning!) so I was able to leisurely shop each aisle and I was totally unencumbered by the attention of any of the employees! Seriously, I about walked through a couple worker-to-worker discussions but I must have been invisible because NO ONE SAID ANYTHING to me. Why the four stars? The selection is fabulous, the environment is hip and modern, and the prices are still reasonable. I even found a ton of sale Christmas candy. I bought five bags. Love this new location. I really like Fresh Thyme but the closest location was in Maplewood so we didn't get to go as often as We'd like to. I think this store is a great addition to the Foundry. The store is well organized, super clean, staff is always friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of produce, health and wellness products, the deli has a great selection of meats and cheeses, plenty of non dairy choices as well. I wish they had Oatly creamer, but hey can't complain too much. Definitely recommend the Iron Drop for Kaldi coffee and lattes, melt in your mouth biscuits, and amazing breakfast. Haven't tried the sushi yet but it all looked great. Made fresh to order and some quick to go options as well. Fresh Thyme is way better than Whole F in my opinion. Better selection and better pricing all around even on the organic all natural items. There is parking below and parking on top right by the door just off Forest Park Ave (for those not familiar with the city). Will most definitely be coming back. read more

Take the time to drive to the Kirkwood location. I received the saddest quality chicken I've ever seen from here. The customer service is pathetic and just doesn't respond to concerns. Save yourself the time and money and shop elsewhere in the city. read more

Cons: Despite the fact that the sign says "Fresh Thyme," the products on the shelf say, "Fresh Thyme," and the checkout system says "Fresh Thyme," you can't actually earn or use Fresh Thyme rewards points here. Ridiculous. Don't fall in love with any product here, because it might not be there the next time you go back. This was my first time in a Fresh Thyme Market. I'm so glad they chose to set up shop around the corner/walking distance from my apartment! I'm still getting used to the layout and the brand names. I really love what Fresh Thyme is doing. The place feels like Whole Paycheck, but with a Schnucks bill. Lots and lots of fresh produce, a huge selection of ice cream (extremely important), and a small bakery and hot food counter. I was confused by the checkout process, but I don't recall why. I think the carts are tiny, although maybe that's a good thing since you bag your own groceries. I have a solid high school summer's worth of experience as a bagger, so, ya know, it was okay for me, but I felt sorry for my checkout neighbors (don't put canned goods in the same bag as your lettuce, man!). I was at the Foundry Market last week on Tuesday to pick up some needed items. While I was there, I thought I would grab lunch as I was very hungry. The deli shelves were completely bare. No premade sandwiches. No premade salads. I walked up to the deli counter to see if they could make me a sandwich. The girl behind the counter didn't pause to tell me no. Just no. The funny part was that she was not doing anything at the time and certainly not making me a sandwich. I really thought that is what the deli department does. Beautiful store, helpful friendly market workers. However, the Iron Block Cafe experience was a disaster. Out of most food items, Still frozen. Wanted Nashville Chicken Biscuit, frozen. Ordered Buffalo Chicken on a Biscuit. and it was cold chicken salad on a cold biscuit. Or slaw on a little bit of shredded deli chicken. w/some bleau cheese crumbles. I asked if I got what I ordered, he said, yes slaw and chicken. The fryer was loaded, working , frying garlic nuggets, but I couldn't have them even as an extra order, they were for the cold case. It was a horrible stuffing on a great biscuit, but nothing resembling Buffalo chicken!. Good concept, lousy food. Poor service. I added a bag of regular chips, no Kettle Fried Chips on menu. or were offered. Saw the Kettle Chips bagged and stacked in the corner as we left.
