However, going into this location of S2 is the total opposite. While I still don't know the science behind everything, the staff at S2 absolutely does. This particular occasion, I really wanted to get some new preworkout. I'm really trying to watch my caffeine intake, as I drink a lot of it. I also didn't want to spend a ton of money. The crew members had my back after I told them what I was looking for. They showed me different options, price points, and flavors. They explained how each one worked without caffeine and how they will help me achieve my goals. I ultimately settled on Evogen EVP 3D, raspberry lemonade flavor. It's stim free and helps pump intensity, mental focus, and muscle vascularity. I've drank it before my workouts all week and am really liking it! We talked about my meet. They even gave me a tee shirt to wear to the meet under my singlet. Brought home 5 new state records, 2 silver medals for my age/weight class and (best of all) 2 PRs (one for squat and one for deadlifts). Nice, knowledgeable team of guys here. Always greeting customers with a Colgate smile and bottled water. the store offers everything you can find online except you don't need to wait for shipping. Carrying all the top brands in protein powders, bars, almond butters, aminos, pre/post-workout formulas, enzymes, glutamine, fats burners, shaker bottles and so on and so on... They have a reward program available for accumulated points and savings. I find the prices to be slightly higher than online but then again there is no shipping cost or wait time. Due to this, I decided to transform into investigative reporter Elliott Davis mode and take a look at the Missouri Secretary of State website...."because after all, you paid for it." I was not surprised to see that the listed owner/agent for Supplement Superstore is also the owner/agent for 1st Phorm. I mean this is pretty much how every conversation at Supplement Superstore goes for me: Guy: "Hey, man. What are you looking for today?" Me: "This right here. Optimum Nutrition Whey. I'm 100% set and not looking for anything else. Thank you, though!" Guy: "Optimum is good. Have you tried 1st Phorm Whey?" Me: "I'm 100% set and not looking for anything else. Thank you, though!." Guy: "I feel ya. I tell you what, though, 1st Phorm mixed with this other 1st Phorm product mixed with this other 1st Phorm product can really take you up a notch." Me: "No really. I'm set" (Salesman handcuffs me to counter) Guy: "I'm telling you man, you are gonna want this if you really want to reach your goals" Me: "What the hell is going on here?" (Salesman takes my wallet) Guy: "I'll ring you up for 5 tubs of the 1st Phorm Whey and 5 tubs of the 1st Phorm Creatine." Me: Fine. Ok obviously that's an exaggeration. It was only 3 tubs of the creatine. Seriously, though, I actually kind of hate going into S2 stores because they push 1st Phorm so damn much. The guys are always nice about it and seem to know their stuff. However, some of them are lacking in charm. Mix that with their average size being 6'2", 230 and they can be a little intimidating. I mean I'm not a little bitch(I'm a medium sized bitch). I did once cave in and buy their creatine just because I let the salesman get too deep into his sales pitch and I felt I owed it to the guy. I'd imagine 1st Phorm is a decent to good product but it is clear that there is a huge bias to push those products over all others. Including the ones that are highly rated online. I recently visited several SS to purchase the 1-Db Goddess pack. The first time I visited was the Brentwood location and the guy I talked to was very nice and helpful. He even gave me free samples and his business card. I left feeling like there was hope to my goals after all. A month later, I visited the store in Wentzville to get another round of the Goddess pack. This time, the guy accidentally charged me double because he was "too into our conversation". He fixed the problem but was red in the face and short with his co-worker in the process. I could tell he doesn't like to make mistakes or work well under pressure. He apologized and it really wasn't too big of a deal until the next day he asked to follow me on Instagram. I found this to be completely unprofessional. He clearly went back into the computer to look up my information and then proceeded to plug my name into IG. I am married but was not wearing a wedding ring that day. Additionally, I have found that this goddess pack does not at all work how intended. I'm actually gaining weight instead of losing weight. I really, really wanted to like this place and was really hoping this product would work on me but between the unprofessional service and having no results, I'm giving this one star. read more

I have to say... My guy Brandon is the BEST! I usually don't take time to write a review, but this is the best experience I've ever had at a supplement store across the board! I'm going on about a week of my Quick Mass Protein, Phormula - 1, Ignition, and the meal guide Brandon took time to understand what I wanted to shoot for. I had a bad feeling coming into this place because all supplement stores are the same. They sell you anything regardless if it is bad and the employees all think they are macho-super-gym-junkies. Wow I was way wrong. My bf was looking for a few things and the the guy working here (Mike Taylor?) came over and started to help us. He was very knowledgeable in what he was talking about. Actually cared about what the customer is taking and why and provides honest feedback on the powders and supplements in the store. He did not try to sell us anything. He did not sound like a salesman and you can tell he was not just working here in between school to make money. The employees here are Certified Personal Trainers Certified Nutritionists. They know what they are talking about and I even asked if they do Body Fat measuring and he was honest and said he does not trust himself doing it, He recommended a professional to do it for me and gave me a name to look into it. At the end of all of this he gave my bf 3 free samples of different supplements to try out and see if he likes them. Uhhh free samples? I have never experienced that in a supplement store. WARNING!!!!! Avoid purchasing from this vendor. I bought 4 boxes of protein bars. All 4 were out of date when I received them. I tried calling the customer service line multiple times over several days and it just rings endlessly. There is not even an answering machine. I tried emailing them several times to request bars that were not expired or a refund but received no response. It shows a lot about a company that will rip you off for a few dollars. Popeyes Supplements has much better customer service and actually responds to inquiries or issues. Body Energy is also another great option that seems to actually care about their clients. read more

I have been starting to work out with a trainer the past couple of weeks with a goal of getting in a better shape and living a healthier lifestyle. I cannot, however, consume the amount of protein that my personal trainer is recommending with my meals alone so I asked about protein shakes and he recommended this place. He told me they will be very helpful with steering me in the right directions. So after training, I came by the store where two guys were occupied answering costumer questions. I didn't have to wait very long before someone came up to ask me if I needed help and offered me free bottled water! Since I felt overwhelmed with the amount (not to mention the types) of protein powder everywhere, I told him the specifics of the protein powder I wanted and the guy was very helpful and pointed me to the direction of protein powders that met my requirements. I wasn't sure which flavor I wanted so I stood there trying to decide when he recommended making me a sample so I can try it and see if I like it. Great idea! I've been to other nutrition/supplement type stores before and have never been offered this option so this alone made me really happy. When making the shake sample, he also asked me how I prefer my shake which was awesome! He had two main recommendations and I ended up going with 1stphorm's level-1 chocolate mocha. It tasted pretty good at the store and I am looking forward to going back when I run out. Like one other review on here, I do wish they would put a price on their items. Other than that, my first visit was fantastic that I would definitely keep coming back! I needed some multivitamins, etc. the other day, and I was in the area, so I decided to stop by Supplement Superstore. I've never visited this store before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. As I walked near the door, I looked in and saw a TON of protein powders, etc. I hesitated. Maybe this was one of those bodybuilder stores that wouldn't have what I needed? I was wary. But I was there, so I walked in anyway. I was warmly greeted by both employees that worked there. They asked what I was looking for, and I told them. It was there! My only complaint? Prices aren't listed on any of the vitamins. You have to ask the employees how much each item costs. Thankfully, my vitamins were REALLY reasonably priced. The employees there seem pretty knowledgeable about protein powders and the like, but not about anything else. They were SUPER nice, however. read more

I go to this store fairly often (usually just for protein powder) and the employees are always very friendly and helpful. Most of them remember my name and ask questions about things in my life that show they actually listen and remember me (It's their job, I know, but it's still appreciated). They are very knowledgeable about their products and helpful when I have questions but never make me feel forced to buy anything I didn't come in for. I agree they do tend to push the 1st Phorm products but having tried most of the brands out there I don't see this as a bad thing as it is some of the best protein on the market (in my not-so-professional opinion). They always greet you immediately, offer you a water while you shop (which is very appreciated) and happily share tips/recipes/suggestions on the products you're buying. Unlike GNC (where you can hide in the aisles and never once be asked if you need help), there is no place to hide in Supplement Superstore. Thus, the employees (who are all either trainers or nutritionist) must greet you and ask what you need help finding. My trainer has a great relationship with the employees at this particular store and specifically asked the guys NOT to push anything we don't need on us. Not sure if my experience would have been as pleasant otherwise, but Jeff was incredibly kind, helpful, and not the least bit pushy. I was looking for a new protein powder flavor and he was gracious enough to provide a sample of a flavor for my roommate and I. While we were checking out, he gave us each his card AND a free shirt as a parting gift. Who doesn't love free shirts! I went here knowing what I wanted but I also wanted to just look around and do my googling as I see a brand and item. A sales rep comes to me with what I believe were good intentions and I took in their feedback. I said thank you and I wanted to move on with my shopping. I guess the person never got the many hints because they didn't let me browse around until I was at the counter. I then realized that I actually never had time to even consider other things I wanted to look at. I feel like I was being pushed and coerced into buying the item selected for my by the sales person. Luckily, I snapped out of the haze and realized what had just happened after being told the ridiculous price for something I know shouldn't be this expensive (because the prices are not on display). I went and grabbed what I was there for initially, paid and ran out of there. After reading the comments here I realized that the salesperson was also trying to sell me anything and everything 1st Phorm as others experiences have been, despite my multiple attempts at explaining that I didn't need them. Thinking of my experience I also had to write this review because I have a lingering feeling of unease at having been pushed so hard. During my visit, the sales person also tried questioning my diet and eating habits and I felt a little uncomfortable so I never gave in. I understand that they are certified trainers and all the fancy things I might benefit from, but I believe at this point in my life, I have a good handle of what to do with my body and I tried to communicate that with the sales person multiple times. At the counter, I was presented with a checklist of foods and asked if I wanted to create a meal plan which I had already said I felt comfortable with my current lifestyle so I didn't need help. I believe this might be a huge plus for someone going in with questions and seeking guidance. Not many places offer this perk. I believe it is just a matter of the sales people understanding some people might not want to spark up a 20 minute chat on their eating habits. Well, to not keep going with this story. I am happy with my purchase and I liked the new flavor I got. I think the price was decent for the item I wanted to purchase, but not for what I was being pushed to buy. I may return to pick up the same item for convenience sake (vs waiting for it to be shipped if I am out of it) but I will most definitely be going in knowing that I may encounter a pushy sales person. I hope this was an isolated incident and that not all other employees are this pushy and that not everyone experiences the same thing I did. They have great products, but the guys that work there are so annoying. So annoying to the extreme that I dread going...but they carry a product that no one else carries. These guys get in your face and call you "dude" and "bro"...and they ask really probing questions. I'm a customer, ever considered calling me "sir," bro? I go to S2 for two things: BCAAs and 1st Phorm protein powder. It takes me about 15 seconds to grab those and get in the checkout line. I always see the salesmen answering customer questions and they seem to genuinely enjoy talking nutrition. Prices on the items I buy are great. I believe they have some sort of deal with 1st Phorm because every time I've bought protein it was cheaper than what is advertised on the 1st Phorm website. The in-store price of the BCAAs I use is cheaper than buying off Amazon when you factor in shipping. This place is losing one star because there are no visible prices (you have to ask or be surprised at the register) and losing another star because they always try to upsell me expensive supplement packs at checkout. read more
