Her modest shop hides the many years of wonderful craftsmanship & pride she takes in her trade. I have worked with several other Tailors in the community before finally making Erin my permanent GO TO. She understands the dynamics of all different body types (accentuating the +'s) and the architecture of numerous fibers/materials to compliment each individuals shape & personal aesthetic. I needed a bridesmaids dress that I had ordered online altered. Irina was able to get it done within just a few weeks and was ready on the date that we had a greed on! Irina is not necessarily the chattiest of people, but I don't think English is her first language, so it's important to be considerate of that when going in to her shop. Also, I was able to get in without making an appointment and within in hour of her shop closing, which she was very accommodating of!! The one thing I will say is that her work can be a little expensive depending on what you need done, but it's worth it for the outcome of the garment and considering she is a small business that does all of the work herself. Do NOT use this business! I wish I could go back in time so that my daughter's beautiful and expensive prom dress could be usable. I went in with my daughter to the shop. We were very clear and stated that we wanted her full length gown to go to the floor. Upon trying it on when we returned to pick it up, we were sick to find the dress three inches off the floor, and not only that, it is lopsided and longer on one side than the other. In addition, each and every one of Irina's pins had left large and visible holes in the fabric (I had worried about this during her pinning and voiced my concern, but she said they wouldn't leave marks). She had also put wrinkles all over the dress during her work that she did not press out, again despite my request to do so. And finally, we had left the dress with her in a $15 dress bag to keep it protected, and she actually gave it back to us with a very large rip in it. A complete nightmare in every way. We communicated to Irina immediately that we were very unhappy that the look was nothing like we had requested (not that anyone would). She had nothing to say - no apology, no suggestion, no offer of a discount. I couldn't believe that someone who had spent her life in the tailoring business would take no pride in her work. The dress is ruined as all of the material was cut off (and was not given back to us, as any other tailor would do). I cannot imagine taking money from someone whose belongings I had destroyed. I directly asked her for a discount and she acted surprised. She charged me $299 for her work alone (on top of a dress that cost several hundred more), and finally would only take off 10% or $29! I've never been so disappointed and disgusted with a business owner in my life. My daughter's prom is one week away with no time to find another dress, let alone get it altered, and Irina couldn't care less. We miss the wonderful work of Glamour Tailor on Hennepin and are so sad she retired. If anyone has a good tailor, please let me know. read more

Irina's Stitch in Time Alteration is BY FAR the best alterations shop in town. Irina altered two gowns I bought for my daughter's wedding. They were both difficult to alter. One needed to be almost reconstructed. Her work was nothing short of AMAZING. Her creativity in figuring out how to do the job was incredible. She's extremely professional. I started bringing my jeans to Irina last year. She has made my Levi's fit like a glove. I had another place tell me they couldn't take in the crotch area, and it wasn't an issue for her! This is my second time seeing Irina for an important occasion. I went to Irina's for a bridesmaid dress that actually needed a lot of alteration. She's not the cheapest, but she's the best quality I've seen in the whole city and surrounding area. I took my wedding dress to her which I bought for $50 online and she's redesigning that as well. Irina helped me out at the last minute with a jacket alteration. I was in the wedding party and didn't have time to get it altered before hopping a plane to Minneapolis. I crashed through the airport, dove into a rental car, blazed down the roads to get to Irina's and she was able to help me out. Alterations were performed flawlessly and she only charged me a nominal alteration fee and a rush charge. She could have soaked me for a lot more and I would have paid it. read more

My husband needed a pair of pants to be hemmed. She was closed on Monday (fine), he dropped them off on Tuesday first thing in the morning and needed them by the next evening. Her response, "I usually charge $15 but since you need them by tomorrow, I'll get them done for you today for $30". He said I don't need them tonight, I need them tomorrow evening. She was still stoic on her response, "No, it's $30". So let me ask you Yelpers, you need something done and as a business owner, instead of doing it properly in a timely fashion (it's literally a 12 minute job) after seeing you need it, doubles the price. Irena's work is very good but her bookkeeping is very poor. I was over-charged $100 more than the other bridesmaids. Luckily I was "tacky" enough to complain about the price to the bride or I would have ended up paying more than my fair share. When I brought it up, the bride told me that Irena was also trying to over-charge her for the flower girl's dress. Weddings are expensive enough without charging hundreds of dollars more than what was originally discussed. Keep your own records and receipts when dealing with this person. She does not accept credit cards, so receipts become even more important for record keeping. read more

I went to Irina's with my wedding dress and she did an amazing job. I had bought a dress online and went to her to get the sleeves taken off along with some minor alterations. I was really nervous about how it would all turn out, but she did a beautiful job. The dress looked even better than before. I would highly recommend her to everyone. read more

I needed two buttons reinforced on a dress quickly. I am a procrastinator so I brought it in on Tuesday and said I needed it by Thursday. She said she could have it done that day! I came back a few hours later, and it was ready to go! She did a great job and had it done when she quoted. I brought a dress that needed slight alterations to Irina. She initially said no problem and it shouldn't be a big adjustment. However after my consultation she said she could do the alteration but in order to achieve the best results she needed to alter the entire dress for a fairly hefty sum. I agreed as the dress looked perfect after she had pinned it. when I went to pick up the dress the alterations were completed however the dress was entirely unwearable. Due to her alterations the dress had become misshaped on the top half. When I asked her about this she simply said that her alterations were perfect and she cannot be held responsible for the dress becoming ill fitting in a different spot. If I wanted the dress to fit perfect it would be an additional hefty charge. I feel she did take advantage of me. My thoughts are she is the expert and she should have predicted that her alterations were going to cause issues for other parts of the dress. When I explained my displeasure, she simply said that the work that was promised was done perfectly. I don't see how it is perfect since my dress is not only unwearable but cannot even be sold due to how ill fitting and altered the form had become. I now have a very expensive price of fabric that will sit in my closet. read more
