This dealership should be considered a criminal enterprise. They basically stole $271 from me for supposedly fixing an air conditioner that was never fixed. How they came to that sum is still a mystery as no parts were involved and they worked less than an hour on it. On top of that they recommended $2000 worth of very questionable repairs. Just recently purchased a used Jeep from Ira Subaru. Overall had a decent car buying experience. As soon as I stepped foot on the lot to look at the car, Jack, on of the sales personnel, approached me asking if I needed any assistance. I told him about my interests and needs for a car. He was very helpful in setting up a test drive and letting me know about the history of the Jeep. The next day he was able to appraise my trade in and work with me on crunching numbers and getting me the best deal for my trade in/new used car purchase. Although the process did take quite a while, the overall experience was pretty low stress and Jack was very patient with me and my slight indecisiveness and concerns! This review is for the car dealership/pre-owned department. I had contemplated buying/financing a car for a few months before deciding to head over to Ira Subaru a few weeks ago. As a first time car buyer, I didn't really know what to expect and was nervous about going to a dealership by myself (especially as a woman; please forgive the stereotype). Once I got to the dealership I was told that the car I had been scheduled to test drive was no longer available, but that there were other options I could look at. Surprisingly, I wasn't too anxious about the news and decided to make the best of my visit. I would highly recommend Richard as a sales consultant (pre-owned cars); he was polite and very easygoing, which helped me to relax a bit and pay more attention to the details of the car and its sale. Richard was also patient during my slightly nerve-wracking test drive, which I am grateful for. Once I had decided to move forward in the car buying process, Juan (finances) made calls and worked hard to secure my financing (at a much lower interest rate than I had thought possible). When it came time to pick up my car from the dealership, Richard arranged for Manny (he was polite as well) to pick me up from my apartment to drive me back to the dealership which I really appreciated. To top it all off, I was pleasantly surprised when Richard handed me not one, but two spare keys to my car, in addition to the original. I would highly recommend Ira Subaru to others based on my experience. *Updated Review: 8/18/17 After about a month, my car battery died. I read and was told that this is "wear and tear" and is not covered by a warranty. I had an appointment scheduled for 12:30 to look at a 2011 Forester, and we drove an hour to the dealership without them ever telling us that there was a transaction pending, even though they had called us earlier in the day to make sure we were all set with our appointment to come look at it. When we finally got there and went to check in, one of the salesmen told us that it was "on an extended test drive" and wouldn't be back for at least an hour and a half which is complete bs because it was sitting right there in the parking lot. I am extremely disappointed that none of them had any decency to tell us that there was a pending transaction for the car and that maybe we shouldn't drive an hour to the dealership and waste our time. I almost never leave reviews, but this was by far one of my worst customer service experiences of the past decade and I feel it is my duty to at least let others know of my experience. I came here because my check engine light came on. The staff looked at my car and indicated that the transmission hose needed to be fixed. They also shared I needed new tires. While they were able to fix the transmission hose, I had continual issues with the tires following the service. The tire pressure light kept coming on, and after the two additional visits following my initial service, they still could not identify the issue AND they even gave my car back to me without one of the tire valve caps after the third and final "service." After paying $2500 for repairs, the sloppy work, combined with the terrible customer service I received, absolutely told me everything I needed to know- TO STAY AWAY. Upon sharing my continual challenges with management, all they offered was a free oil change and tire rotation. Since services were NOT truly rendered properly, a refund was requested- but unsurprisingly denied by management. To me, integrity & accountability are the cornerstones of a good business - and those values were not displayed here by Ira Subaru. Though I am still loyal to Subaru as a larger brand, I will NEVER visit this location ever again. My two cents: absolutely take your money & go somewhere else that will actually follow through & deliver. read more

The service dept is awful. I've been here twice and had to wait so long to have just an oil change. They seem to be under staffed both times I've been here. Everyone working is super stressed and gives an attitude as if your bothering them. Also the waiting room is the most awkward thing ever. Never coming back! By the way, never got a free car wash either. I was told the car wash closed at 5:00 which I don't get since they are open until 7:00. How lame! I honestly wish I just went to jiffy lube. It would have been a way better experience and I would've had my car washed and vacuumed for the same price! read more

My overall experience was okay. I had to return to the dealership once for a small dent to be removed and to sign additional paperwork and once to pick up new keys as my original set was lost. It wasn't too inconvenient as I only live 5 miles away, but with a little bit better organization, the additional trips could've been avoided. Not sure if I got lucky but based on the past reviews I wasn't expecting to have the experience I had. I looked online and found a 2019 Forester I was interested in, submitted a request and was contacted by Scott C. I was running tight on time and made an appointment to come in and see the vehicle. Ended up making a deal that day. Scott was great to deal with and Kenny in the finance department was great to work with as well. My only complaint is that it takes a Looooooooooong time to buy a car even with a relatively clean deal. Would definitely recommend Scott and his trainee and Jack at Ira Subaru - they were great to deal with. I'm hoping that my future service visits are better than some of the ones posted here - if not I'll let you know! read more

This review is about the service department. If you have any choice, just stay away. Every day is a message "by end of business this day" and the date gets further and further away. They have had my car sitting in their shop for over a month now and the excuses just keep on rolling. Come here and you will get the run around. My 2013 Subaru had some engine trouble on the road,I took it to the nearest shop to see if it was safe to drive my preferred dealer, he advised against it so I had it towed to the closest dealership which was unfortunately this one. I called ahead spoke to a woman in the service department about the issue and explained everything and they scheduled me for an appt that afternoon to get it looked at. I got a call the following morning they had not looked at it and wouldn't begin until I called back and explained all over. The next day I call to see if it has been looked at by and they say no they'll call me when they get to it. They finally get it looked at a few hours later on the third day and confirm it is exactly what I had told them from the last mechanic but it will be a full day for repair, they will order the parts and start right away but I would not have my car until the next week. Okay, I thought.. Atleast were getting somewhere. Then they were waiting on "parts" Then I am told they have no tracking for the part. Later I am told the part is in the US, but they don't know when it will get to the shop. Nevermind almost a month later the mystery part finally arrives, and I am told they are busy with another repair. The part has supposedly now been in the shop for days but still no work has been done. You would think if you had a customer waiting that long or a car sitting in your shop that long you'd want to get the service done and free up the space. Do yourself a favor and never deal with this service department. read more

Bought Subaru Outback in 2010. Oil engine warning light goes on. 1st Subaru IRA explained it was due to cold temperature and they cannot fix it. Now they blame us on not changing the oil frequently enough. As a matter of fact we don't always go to Subaru IRA to have our oil change. So they are basing their diagnostic and drawing conclusions on records that are incomplete. Having to drive a car with warning lights that do not work does not feel safe and Subaru Service IRA has failed to fix the problem for years now. read more

I went to their website because I was interested in the Crosstek. I also wanted to see what my trade in was worth and what inventory was available. I checked their inventory on line and found at least a half dozen cars that suited my needs. I then wanted to find out what my car was worth but I had to enter my phone number in order to get a number. I was called back by the internet sales manager within minutes. I wasn't planning on going in for a test drive but after seeing what my car was worth I decided that buying a new car was possible. The numbers looked as if I could get into a new car for around the same as my current monthly payment. I bought 5 cars from the Ira group in the past so I figured that they would give me the best deal possible. So I went down. I was introduced to Gene who was very knowledgeable and personable. I was told that they needed to get the model that I was interested in ready for a test drive because it just came in. I thought that it was weird because I saw that they had these in inventory according to their website. Anyway, I was told about how quickly these models sell and that people are even on a waiting list to get the model that they desire. The test drive went great and we discussed where I needed to be payment wise. We went back and discussed the particulars and he brought a sheet to the used car manager so he could "appraise" my car. He then went to a sales manager to get me some numbers. They didn't work. They were going to give me 2000 or 3000 less for my trade that was quoted on line. I understand that the on line estimate was subject to change buy a few hundred. I was shocked that it ended up being a few thousand. I feel as though I was misled by the information that I was provided on line and baited to come in. This ended up being a complete waste of my time (and Gene's) and I didn't appreciate it. It appears that the management there just want to squeeze as much money out of customers as they can. I would never have gone in if I knew that they would low ball my trade in. The worst service that I have ever received in 35 years of car ownership. Routine maintenance that took 8 hours+ the first time with near zero communication. Condenser recall work in which the mechanics mistakenly allowed my air conditioner to drain into my car. When the car was returned for repair with upwards of 4 cups of water on the passenger floor, I was told that an insect nest was to blame. Very conveniently timed just days after the condenser work if you ask me. The worst is yet to come. After a flat tire, AAA was sent for and upon arrival could not find the tire lock key. I was sold a car without the key necessary to unlock my tires. I communicated this not only to Leo the salesperson who sold the car but also to the manager and no one reached out to help. As of this writing, I have yet to hear from anyone associated with Ira Subaru. They were very adept at taking my money but only at that, nothing else. Do yourself a favor, Never take your car to this location!!!! They do not stand by their product and the service people will literally lie to your face. read more

I have a 2011 Outback. I was told by a different dealership I've been using for service that I had 3mm remaining on the rear brake pads. Six weeks later, I decided to try Ira Subaru - Danvers and made an appointment to have this done. I told the service rep that I wasn't sure if it was the front or rear brake pads that needed replacement, but only one set required it. Ira Subaru checked the brake pads and said both were worn to the point that they needed replacing right away. I unfortunately agreed to this. However, I later I phoned the first dealership and asked if there were mechanic's notes about the front pads and was told it showed 5mm left on the front. I had driven no more than 1500 miles in the six intervening weeks, and there is no way the rear brake pads could have required replacing at that point. I was taken advantage of by this dealership. I would stay far away from them, at least from the service department. read more

But when you speak down to a young woman, asking what I do for work, where I got my #'s, you are insulting - I am a well educated young woman who knows how to negoiate. If you even think I will stand to be spoken down to by some OLD MEN - you guessed wrong. I hope they read this review and shape up. Awful experience. I couldn't recommend them any less. I took my car in for a small repair and paid for the invoice in full and picked up the car, then I receive a call from Mike Glynn of the Collision Center stating he made a mistake and I owed them more money. To receive this extra few dollars from me they were fine with losing my business going forward, which in one or two oil changes they would have recouped more than the amount they are demanding I pay them over the mistake they made. Edit - Greg absolutely handled the situation like a champ! It is clear he cares about retaining customers much more so than Mike Glynn does. read more

After looking at all of the online reviews of Ira Subaru's service department, I think my review will only be throwing gasoline on what appears to be quite a fire. I took our 2009 Forester in to have the airbag igniter replaced under the Takeda recall, and the Ira service department took the opportunity to sell me on a lot of paid service work. They told me that they would be doing a free vehicle inspection, which turned out to be their effort to find things that "needed" to be done. Though I agreed to a couple of the items, they did one thing that I did not authorize (they did remove it from the bill, at least). The real issue I have with this service was their claim that the tires were in "terrible condition" and needed to be replaced (written into the service paperwork that way). The service advisor told me on the phone that they were cracking, a condition often seen in old rubber due to environmental damage. I was suspicious of this claim, as I do look at the tires regularly, and after I picked up the car I confirmed my suspicion. Though the tires are 5 years old, they are still in good condition and replacement is not warranted; they might last another 3 to 4 years given that the car is only driven 2,000 miles each year. This claim of "terrible condition" was patently false and an apparent effort to drive additional service revenue. It brings into question any other claims that your Ira service advisor may bring to you when you have you car there for service. I recommend that you refuse all extra service they propose, and have the claim checked out by someone you trust. I'll go one better on the advice - don't even bring your car here for service! It is not worth the hassle and additional costs they add for work that is of questionable need. read more

I have been sitting in the waiting room at the service center for 2 1/2 hours to rotate tires and oil change, and I'm still sitting here. People have come and gone. It was suggested I need new tires, although I only have 35,000 miles in my car. Tires are $900. Too much for my budget! There were a couple of suggestions that I may have had done, but don't want to be sitting here for the rest of the afternoon. Thinking I'll try Subaru in Wakefield next time, even with a longer drive, it should be faster. Going on 3 hours! read more

I bought a 2014 WRX in November of 2013 with in less than a year rust developed on top and under the hood of the car. Service department manager told me there was nothing he could do about it. Painfully slow. Drop your car off here. Do NOT wait for it. Over 2 hours and counting for an oil change and tire rotation. Was told to drive in the bay. I drove in, someone told me "you're good" and walked away. I had to walk around looking for help. Then 5 different people each walked by me, smiled and said "someone will be with you soon". 15 minutes later I met with a delightful service rep who answered my questions. Sometime later, I was told my car was just "out getting washed". That was 45 minutes ago. Delightful rep now tells me she sees my car and will have my paperwork soon. I am giving this place 3 stars because I have had very mixed experiences ranging from excellent to terrible. I bought my car from here last October and the buying experience was amazing! Burt, the salesman who sold me the car, was easy to talk to, not pushy and simply amazing at his job. He let me test drive a brand new STI before purchasing one. He was very patient and answered all questions and phone calls that I had. Everyone in sales was excellent and I would buy a car from Burt again. The service is a hit-or-miss. The nice young lady with the limp who works as a service advisor is absolutely wonderful, although I haven't seen her for quite sometime. I think she is excellent at her job and she is truly an asset to the company. She is a pleasure to deal with and I wish every advisor were like her. With that said, the advisers can be plain rude. One of the advisors I dealt with had such a terrible attitude with me that I didn't think I ever wanted to go back for service. He tried to make me feel stupid and was very demeaning. My feelings aren't paper thin so I can take a bit of attitude, but I don't expect that from someone I'm about to hand 100 dollars to for an oil change/tire rotation. I am not going to mention his name on here but I don't want to deal with him again. Also, mechanics have forgotten to return my wheel locks multiple times and caused me to return to the dealership to get them back. They have also left oil smudges on the inside of my windshield. Overall a great dealership for sales, but the service department is a bit of a s**t show and needs some work. read more

This review is only of their service department. There are a few nice things here -- free wifi. The staff is very friendly. They wash your car (exterior only) after they service it. Their website says "free refreshments" -- what it means is free coffee/tea. There's a vending machine if you want candy/soda. The Subaru dealership I used to use (in my old town) used to have free fruit, yogurt, pastries, etc. Not that I go to Subaru for snacks, but I think "free refreshments" is misleading. And being misleading is, I think, the big problem at Ira. I made an appointment for a 105,000 service, which was listed on their website for about $675. I got there and the woman immediately tells me it's $1,200. I told her it said $675 on the website, and she said "yeah, but by the time they do all the work it generally comes out around $1,200." I said no thanks, please just do the oil and filter change. She said it would be about an hour. An hour later she comes out with an estimate for repairs of $5,000. The car is only worth about $6,500. I told her to just do the oil change. Another hour later (so two hours instead of the one I was promised), my car is finally done. As far as I can tell from internet research, the quote was nearly double what is reasonable, assuming all of that work actually needs to be done. I've put in requests to higher rated shops and I'll have to see what comes back. In any event, I won't be back to Ira Subaru. read more

My second failed attempt in as many years to purchase a vehicle from an IRA dealership. This one however was particularly rich. Come to find out, IRA's internet lead generation function is outsourced from Texas with a major disconnect to the local office and inventory. I called concerning a used Subaru off the internet I was interested in buying. "Tex" said, come on over to Danvers , the car is available so over we went 50 miles from our home in Canton. Once we arrived at the dealership in Danvers, the car had been sold. I get that this is the car business and it's first come first served. The best part is that both the sales rep and manager (whom I assume must have some sort of vested interest in selling cars) watched my wife and I walk out of the showroom without offering to show us another of the dozens and dozens of cars on the lot and caring little that we made a near hour's journey to visit their store on a Sunday morning. Couldn't care less! Thank God for competition and the free market as we headed back to the South Shore and found a much newer vehicle with much fewer miles along with a sales team who seemed actually happy to see us and have our business. Also, from reading all of these poor reviews, I consider myself fortunate for cutting my losses early in the process and walking out the door before any more nonsense began. I recently purchased a used car from the Ira Subaru dealership in Danvers. This was my first experience at a dealership and will certainly be my last at this one. As part of the sales negotiations I was told that the scratches and chips on the car's exterior would be taken care of prior to my pick up of the vehicle as this would be an "easy fix." This was in addition to a side mirror being fixed (which delayed pick up of the car by multiple days) and a tube of touch up paint being provided (which was never mailed to me). When they finally told me I could pick up the car, I arrived to see that NOTHING had been done to fix the paint chips. I contacted the salesman who, after taking multiple days to get back to me, informed me that the dealership would not be taking responsibility for completing work I was told would be fine as part of the sales negotiations. I tried contacting the manager by calling and emailing and have still yet to hear back from him... The closing process was also a huge let down as I was encouraged to get the extended warranty which was falsely presented to me. I was told that the under this warranty the car could be taken to any Subaru dealership to fix any problem. What he failed to tell me until after I signed the agreement, was that there is a $100 deductible any time you bring the car in, even if they do nothing to it! (Luckily, the five print states you can return the warranty within 30 days..) Unfortunately this business proved all stereotypes about car dealerships true and failed to follow through with an agreed upon deal. read more

I came by over President's day weekend with an appointment. Everything was super easy and smooth from parking to talking about the cars I was interested in and then getting the forms I was requesting before heading to my next appointment. Sophia was incredibly kind, helpful, and mindful of keeping distance and being respectful with Covid on the brain. She wasn't pushy, showed me what I wanted to see, and had the answers to my questions. She presented me with a great deal on a Forester but I ended up going with another dealer just due to what suited my needs. She followed up without being pushy and heard me out about having a negative experience with other dealers and recommended I reach out to a specific manager at that dealer. To me, that's really going out of her way to help me out specifically and I was truly bummed I couldn't give her my business because she's clearly someone who cares about the people she's working with. I would absolutely recommend Ira Subaru and Sophia and particular especially if you're someone who cares about the experience or has not been through the new car-shopping process before. read more

I have very high standards when it comes to service and very few have been able to live up to my standards. My recent experience at IRA Subaru in Danvers, MA was highly unpleasant, to say the least. When my fiancé and I entered the dealership, we asked to speak to a salesperson and were seated at an empty desk. We waited there for 15 minutes and watched several other couples enter the dealership and receive immediate attention. When we were finally met by a sales person we asked him about a car posted online, to which he informed us was no longer available. When asking about other cars that were for sale he responded in a passive aggressive manner to basic question about MPG's and deals that were currently being advertised. As such, instead of answering the questions he only provided round-about answers and then felt the need to inform us that he has "been doing this for 35 years and knows what he's doing". He then prematurely asked us if we had good credit, as if to gain reassurance that we were worth his time. I was interested in finding out the trade-in value of my car so I could determine an appropriate price range for my next purchase. So I gave him my keys and after taking a look at it, he told me it looks pretty good for a "Massachusetts driver". He even took a second walk around the car to look for dents and scratches and joked that he expected I would have damage on my car from bumping or backing into things. When he found a car he thought we'd be interested in, we agreed to test drive it. He then told us he had to go "find" it. He disappeared for over 20 minutes and eventually we decided it was time to leave. He had taken my car keys, so I had to go looking for them. I found them abandoned at an unattended counter in the showroom area.... I took them without being questioned and then asked a woman in the office area to inform our sales person that we were leaving. He came running out as we were about to drive away and then was unapologetic and irritated when we told him we were leaving and did not have time to test drive the car. The entire experience was so terrible that it is laughable. read more

Purchased a 2016 Subaru WRX limited in Crystal white pearl. Car already came with the 7inch head unit, wheel locks, arm rest extension and rear bumper protector from factory. Also had the dealer install short throw shifter, full underbody spoiler. Got a great deal. Robin Duquette facilitated the whole thing. Overall great and seamless experience. Anyone can sell you a car but Robin knew how to make the experience less of a "transaction" even though that's what it really is. I spent a lot of time touring the lot and when finally decided to head into the show room. Robin approached and introduced her self and basically within 1 hour we agreed on a deal. honestly didn't think i'd get a good deal here, thought i had to go to another dealership to get a quote that was closer to my target number. Mistake i made was not bringing my checkbook with me. Here is where Robin Duquette shines. I requested that the Ira Subaru badge not be placed on the bumper on delivery. She remembered and my car came with out the ugly sticker. I've had so many experiences where you tell someone something and they forget. Even more so the case once they already have your money. Also on delivery of the car she spent the time to teach me how to use all the buttons, there was no rushing it and she really made it a point that she wanted me to really understand how to use everything. She even offered for me to come back or call if i needed further help and I'm convinced she genuinely meant it. I'm pretty tech savvy so i won't be needing extra lessons but i imagine some aren't and if you choose to work with Robin thats a perk. Im comfortable referring friends and family to Robin. I noticed there are a lot of poor reviews regarding the service department on yelp and i can't speak to that because i've yet to encounter them but as far as the new car buying experience I can say that Robin Duquette at Ira Subaru made it a wonderful and easy experience. I was lucky. Here's some advice, you want someone with experience who can get you closer to your target number. you want someone nice. you want someone who remembers your name and your preferences at least during the time frame when it matters. Come in prepared and know what the vehicle's actual cost is. Also if you care for the warranties; throw out random low ball numbers and you'd be surprised what these services are actually worth. quick search online will reveal pricing too. read more

Best experience at a car dealership, EVER! Maria Swiacke was amazing!! She made me feel so comfortable right away. I honestly felt like I had known her for years. She was so knowledgeable and I could tell she genuinely loves what she does. Any other time I have been to a dealership, I felt uncomfortable immediately and felt like I was being taken advantage of right away. That was not the case at this dealership. Ryan Bettie handled the financial aspect of my deal and he was also so amazing!!! They were both so nice and were honest, respectful, and treated me like family. An overall great experience. We bought a used subaru here, and were helped by Teri and Nancy. Test drive was great, paperwork was seamless, and they made sure the car was beautiful and gassed up when we picked it up. Registration and plates were all taken care of in-house. There were a couple of typical "salemanish" moments but that's expected. read more

We settled on a Subaru Legacy as our next car, and submitted our offer to purchase to a couple of on-line quote sites. I got a call from Robin Harris at Ira. Her offer beat the pants off of the competition, so it was just a matter of timing till we bought the car from them. Fast forward a few weeks: We were ready to go. Robin was out, and we landed on Scott Coughlin's desk. Scott located the exact car we wanted and had it delivered to their dealership. We arrived at 2:15 on a Friday afternoon, did all of the paperwork, got the insurance stamp, paid for the car, got it registered, had it inspected and left for home. ALL OF THAT TOOK EXACTLY 2 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES. Unbelievable service! We did receive the (I guess it's necessary) pitch for the extras, all of which we politely declined. There was zero pressure to listen to any long presentation on the extras. There was a slight mix-up on a key that somehow got left behind. No problem--Scott delivered to our mailbox after hours. Bought our sixth Subaru recently and traveled twenty miles to do it where we found a dealership willing to find a vehicle to meet our wants. For us, it came down to price, price, price. Sales person Stephen M. Was great to work with. We felt that he listened to what we wanted and then was willing to go to bat for us with management to close the deal. Vehicle transitioning was smooth. We walked away satisfied customers. We also appreciated the sales person's follow up. read more
