I took my Subaru here for an oil change as I received a postcard for a great price ($29.99) for a full synthetic oil change and filter. During inspection, they found a recall that needed to be performed. And about $6000 in other service that made it sound dangerous to drive the vehicle if I didn't get it done-so much so they refused to do the recall unless I did the other services. Some symptoms mysteriously occurred only while it was in the shop. They did eventually honor the price on the card for the oil change-after I had to request it a second time. I scheduled an oil change on July 8 at Sullivan Tires in NH. I work and live in NH. They stated that the drain plug is severely tightened and bring it to dealership. Today, I have an appointment to for oil change. I spoke with mange. I asked if I could get credit for oil change. He stated that they might have right equipment to unopened the plug or experience. He stated that he is unable to credit me an oil change or discount. I have to pay what everybody else has to pay. When we brought up the promotion to the Assistant Service Director Alison (because Dan wasn't there), she supposedly called Dan and spoke with him, but she would not let us speak to him. She became visibly annoyed the moment we expressed our concern, and continued to reply condescendingly throughout our discussion about the deal that he offered in the first place. A fantastic tale I would not believe if it did not happen to me... Wife´s car needs the front light replacement. Could have done it myself but Subaru Engineering decided that removing the front tire before you can access the light socket is a fantastic idea. Unfortunately, I already bought the light bulbs for about $20 and placed them good visible in the middle console as a reminder to fix the lights. Sooo, I got an appointment there, told the model, maker, VIN... Got there on time. Lady at the front desk explained that it will take about an hour. Back in an hour. Front desk lady makes a phone call to check in with the car. Call goes on for 10 min. Front desk lady tells me that it might take a few moments longer cause she needs to figure out how much the replacement will be. 5 Minutes later the front desk lady explains that the cost will be about $250. O_o for a light bulb exchange?!?! Ever visited the middle-eastern city of Dafuq? Front desk lady explains that they can only and exclusively use some super fantastic magic lights that are specially fitted for Subaru cars and cost more than a kidney each. Ever heard of the story about the King´s new clothes? I was not happy with it. FD-Lady then offered a discount coupon to reduce the price to about $150. Still overpriced, but I guess it´s my stupidity since I did not ask them about the costs beforehand and so I go back to waiting. 20 mins later I ask what is now happening to the car. The front desk lady calls the mechanics. They just found out that the car model needs the tire to be removed in order to exchange the light bulb - oh really?! Isn´t this why I gave you the car model when making the appointment? Got told it will take another 20 mins. Turned around steaming and walked off to the waiting room - not my proudest moment - was not as composed as I would like to be. My honest apologies to the FD-lady for that. 20 Mins later - cooled down - I walk up to the front desk lady. She apologizes for the inconvenience and explains that she would not charge me for anything, leaving me with a full-blown moral dilemma. I thank her and right away develop a bad conscience. Because I was upset, I get the service for free. But I don´t want to be upset, but that won´t get me any free service. The grand finale of this fantastic tale happened, however, on my way home as I realized that the $20 lights - the ones that were in the front console before the visit - were now gone. I checked the car. Everything else was in it´s place, just my standard, non-super special, totally regular $20 lights were gone. Overall the experience started off okay and the vehicle was great. When test driving the car the tire pressure light was on and I was informed that it would be resolved when I purchased the car along with many other things that would be fixed. At pick-up everything started off great until a week after buying the car, tire pressure light came back on and the car was vibrating when braking, brought it back in after driving 2 hours since I live on Cape to get there and they replaced the front brakes and rotors since they were heat warped, they were debating about replacing all 4, but only replacing 2 saying it was all set, all was covered under warranty so no big deal. Only for the light to come back on a month later, now the vehicle will no longer show any readings for the tires when you check the settings on the vehicle. The real dissatisfaction was when I went to go get the vehicle serviced recently for the first time since buying the car and they couldn't do it because the screw on the oil pan was so badly stripped and had a huge dent in the oil pan from whoever serviced the vehicle last, this dealership was the only one to touch or service the vehicle since buying it. The warranty may state only 30 days, but this is an issue that would have not been noticed until the vehicle got serviced which is way past 30 days. I'm extremely unhappy that I was given a vehicle that I had paid a lot of money in cash for has this type of damage now preventing it from being serviced properly. The longer it goes with this issue not being addressed by the dealership makes it have more issues with vehicle especially if it doesn't get an oil change. I'm hoping this problem will be handled properly by the dealership and they fix this issue. I've never written a bad review before but this really angered me and hope it gets resolved. read more

If I did not do my due diligence I would have spent $544.04 on an O2 sensor that did not need replacing. This experience highlights a lack of accuracy and transparency at Ira Subaru Danvers. There is no need for a civilian to get nitrogen in their tires for $299 (before you pay that read what consumer reports says!) Air is 78 nitrogen. I live out of state and my dad's car, which I was driving, died while I was on the North Shore. Hobbled into Ira Subaru and Frank immediately took care of me. It turned out that my car required $7,000 in repairs, which was more than the car was worth. It was a super stressful situation, and Frank was SO supportive and kind. No one tried to sell me on repairs, nor did they try to push me to buy a replacement. I know they put a ton of work into assessing the car's many issues, and they were so gracious about the whole thing. PLUS: I was there for hours, and they set me up with a Lyft to get to a mall to get some lunch, plus the waiting area at the dealership is very pleasant -- lots of free drinks and food, charging stations, very spacious. read more

Went into the service desk where there were several people sitting. I said I was there for an oil change at my scheduled time. I was told it would be at least a 2 1/2 hour wait. He said they had a lot of people show up who did not have appointments. He gave a lame excuse for taking those people in front of customers who had actually booked appointments. Went to this place for the first time because I had a flat tire. Gave me an initial estimate of $54 to fix it but after 20 minutes they gave me a new estimate of $800. Told me that they had to replace all 4 tires because they didn't have the specific brand even though the car was inspected a month ago with no issues. They tried to sell me some story about how you can't mix and match tires cause it'll lead to transmission issues and that's why they had to replace all four. Both cars were offered to us at over $4000 MORE then stated online. Total bait and switch. When pointed out, they said we didn't qualify, as "stated in the fine print". I then open the website and checked - the "fine print" stated that a vehicle 2009 or newer needed to be traded-in to get the IRA price, which we were doing. I wish I had read the reviews and now I'm noticing there's a huge discrepancy between the Google reviews and the Yelp reviews. So I suspect they pay for good reviews on Google. They have made my car buying experience awful and I've called and went in time to time and no one helps or gives a straight answer about how to get my refund for the warranty, I adamantly didn't want but was reassured I could remove (never mind I was never told it was optional). Manager (William) seems to worry about joking around rather than actually explaining things properly to you and when you confront him on this he will then say it is out of his hands even thought he's the one who sold you the rip-off warranty. Typical shady car salesman and if you look at the reviews I am not the only one who has had this issue. I wish I had never done business here. If I were going to do business at Ira Subaru, it would be with Chris; she was awesome! Hands down the best car salesperson I've ever encountered. Unfortunately, Ira charges a standard [almost] $900 dealer fee on top of all the standard license plate, registration, and doc fees. Simply going somewhere else will save you $900. We quoted at Wakefield and Reading dealers too, and neither charged this ridiculous, non-value add fee. When we were there we witnessed another buyer trying to negotiate this fee out, and he was told it was firm and couldn't be removed. That was enough to push us elsewhere, and we saved $900. read more

I see the negative reviews on here and was super leery when I went into this dealership almost a month ago to look at a new 2021 Outback to lease. My wife and I read all the small print on all the ads (what many negative sales reviews here seem to be missing- read the fine print folks! Know what to expect- never go blindly into a dealership) and were prepped for a long drawn out back and forth with a high pressure rep and ITIL Natels with us walking out. This wasn't the case. Chris met us outside the door and greeted us. She then asked "So I have an idea of what brought you in- but let's talk about what you're lookin for." We went to her desk and chatted she immediately let us know "I'm going to be very honest and straight with you." This was refreshing but I was still cautious. We told her we were looking to lease and she broke out a piece of paper and drew out/explained how the leases work- in full- small fine print and all! We were blown away. Cool- let's get into the nitty gritty. She asked us a number and I told her- she said "let's work with that." Now fellow Yelpers a word of advice- always go into a dealership with money to put down and this: a monthly number that you know you can afford at the WORST and one at the best. Figure the number will ultimately be in between and that is the magic monthly payment. This is where people slip up, and get super peeved that the dealership didn't match their number. Well they have to make money as well right? I digress. Once we had the number Chris asked us what we were looking for- we told her and after taking some time looking at a couple of models we decided on the Outback basic model after a test drive (also remember car buyers- only look at what you can afford- man I wanted leather but not in the cards this time- definitely next time!!). From there we go the trade in value on my poor old, tired 2008 Fusion S. When the number came back I was blown away at how much they offered. So I told them that was great number but they were not able to do my monthly number it was higher- I had already anticipated this and asked them if they could drop it, if I put money down today to make the lease purchase. After a few minutes Chris came back and said "We can absolutely do that!" Long story short: I got a great family ride for the price I really wanted that day and a rep who was awesome! As it was Memorial Day weekend things were crazy but the cat was supposed to be ready on Tuesday of the following week. Well- gotta love the MA RMV- their system crashed that day lol- we waited an additional day. Chris was amazing at keeping us up to date on what needed to be done, our paperwork was smooth with no hidden fees or anything. We got the car on that following Wednesday and well, have been traveling more than we have in the past year! Thank you Chris and Ira Subaru! Ask for Chris when you go in she is awesome! We love our Subaru and are thrilled that we received such great service! TLDR: we had an awesome rep, came in fully prepared with a down payment and read all the fine print.
