Came here for dinner with friends. I like that most items are vegan (only 3 non-vegan items in the appetizer section). We ordered the garlic edamame, brussels sprouts, crispy corn, tempura eggplant, and Volcano, Brooklyn Bridge, and Super Mario Bros rolls. Of these, the volcano roll was by far my favorite! I was iffy about it having cherry tomatoes on top but the flavors of this roll blew me away! Next time, I would order this roll all for myself. The other two rolls were just okay, nothing to write home about, but also not bad. My least favorite was the edamame. The soy/garlic sauce was good, but was all at the bottom. I would have appreciated more fried garlic throughout. It really just tasted like plain edamame. The tempura eggplant was also just okay but if you dipped it in the aioli that came on top of the brussels sprouts then it was really good! I would definitely order the volcano roll, brussels sprouts, and crispy corn again (in that order). Everything else I could do without. read more

Ippudo V has been on my radar for a while. The brand is pretty legendary in Japan so expectations were high walking in. I'll be honest, when I arrived and noticed there weren't any other customers I had a brief moment of doubt. But that doubt didn't last long. I sat on the patio, which was peaceful. Started with the veggie bun, which was really flavorful and a great way to open the meal. Then came the PLA-TON Ramen and it was excellent. The Tonkotsu broth was rich, buttery, and the kind of thing you want to drink straight from the bowl, and the fact that a broth that good is without meat makes it even more impressive. My only wish was that there was more of it. The flight of homemade sauces was a standout too, inventive and genuinely tasty. And then there was Yasu, our waiter, who brought five star energy to every interaction and elevated the whole experience. Ippudo V erased every bit of that initial doubt. Looking forward to exploring more of the menu. read more

Overall: 5 stars This restaurant runs very pricey compared to the non-vegan mirror items. That being said, I found great knowledge in the items I ordered where the ingredient choice shows clear mastery of textures and flavors of the fruits from the garden that deserves a lot of merit. The menu is diverse, large, and of course all vegan. The restaurant is also a comforting space with a bright and green aura that calms. The staff are knowledgable and attentive, which also contributes to the deserved recognition of the restaurant. (Volcano Roll: A) - Smartly curated roll that plays on a spicy tuna and spicy ketchup with the spiced tomato and cherry tomatoes. The roll being also filled with a variety of crunchy vegetables work here for texture much better than a classic california roll would. (Brooklyn Bridge Roll: B) - I was impressed by the mastery of eggplant that created this sticky sweet unagi like substance. Personally, I would go and say this works even better than unagi despite myself not being vegan. It is quite pricey though $13 for 4p. (Veggie Bao: B) - This almost plays into the pork belly bao, but much less heavy with a crisp eggplant and a refreshing iceberg lettuce. Highly impressed and can't wait to go back/ take friends. I got the "Daichi No Miso | Miso" Ramen - described as consisting of house-made miso, noodles, meat (soy), cabbage, carrot, red onion, mushroom, bean sprouts - topped with fried chickpeas, mix salad, and pomegranate seeds. It's delicious from top to bottom. The broth is rich, hearty, and unlike anything I've ever had in my life. It's the most umami-packed bowl of wow. I think this ramen bowl could revive me from below freezing temperatures and reverse the effects of frost bite. The portions are more than adequate, I even took a lot of my ramen to go. My partner got the "Pla-Ton Tonkotsu" Ramen - complete with "Tonkotsu" broth (the vegan version of a slow-cooked pork broth), vnoodles, chashu (tofu), marinated carrots, fried Enoki mushroom, micro herb mix - all topped with avocado oil and black pepper. Again, this ramen was unlike anything I've ever had. It was creamy, rich, and a true comfort food that felt very reviving and healthful. We also shared the "Let's Groove - Tuna-Eat" Sushi Roll. It comes as 4 pieces and consists of seaweed, avocado, tempura asparagus, carrot, red cabbage, vegan tuna mayo teriyaki sauce, mayo, fried onion and chopped chives. These rolls are huge, flavorful, delicious and delightfully balanced. I can't wait to try more of their rolls because this one was so good. I usually worry about vegan fish because I've never eaten fish and it's just never been appealing to me, but this tuna is really ... vegan, in the most complimentary way possible. And I think vegans and non-vegans alike will love it. Atmosphere-wise, Ippudo V is a popping bistro-style restaurant on Santa Monica Blvd in WeHo. The tables are shared so multiple parties are sat together, which makes it lively and builds up a community energy. Despite it being busy, our food came out quickly and we enjoyed every moment. They offer sorbet which I'm sure is delicious, but I do hope they are planning to offer more unique desserts that match the wow of their ramen and sushi. read more

The service, food and ambience of this lance was wonderful. I cannot tell you enough how amazing the food and ramen was. Everything was fresh and the lady who took our order was attentive to our needs and gave us recommendations. Additionally, the Mario Bros roll and the Matilda were out of this world. You must try and give this place a try. You won't regret it. This is a hidden gem. read more

I've come here several times before and had a delightful experience each time. I've tried countless rolls and ramen options and it was great having so much flexibility with the menu being all-vegan. It was expensive and the portions were small, but it was worth it. However, during a recent conversation with one of the staff, I was disappointed to hear that the restaurant will be transitioning to a non-vegan menu. I won't be back. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday at noon and we were the only ones in the place which was a little concerning but it didn't disappoint. Cucumber Salad - simple but elegant presentation of sliced pieces of sesame and vinegar marinated crunch. OINARISAN- very inventive sushi roll of avocado and cucumber topped with sweet tofu (inari) with a dollop of wasabi which gave it a unique sweet & spice combo. Tonkatsu Ramen- creamy broth that balanced the al dente noodles and the mushroom tempura made this a very enjoyable vegan bowl. Service was excellent & friendly and the interior was immaculate. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this vegan turned ramen shop. From previous reviews and pictures, I expected the ramen to not be that great, but it actually was good. I visited this restaurant for an early weekday dinner. Walking-in there weren't too many patrons dining in and we were able to pick our table. The interior was nice and clean and felt fresh with all the plant décor. We were handed physical menus and there's also QR code menus at each table which show the prices of the dishes. I ended up ordering the Pla-Ton Tonkotsu ramen and it was good. The broth was creamy and flavorful. I liked how it wasn't too salty. The ingredients like the carrots, tofu and crispy onion were also nice too. The noodles were also cooked well. It was light and healthy. I also tried my friend's Shojin Shoyu ramen and it was good. The shoyu flavor was on point and I loved the thinner noodles. These were good ramens, but I would still opt for the traditional non-vegan ramen though. The service was pretty decent tand our server was pretty nice. It only seemed like there was 1 server for the entire restaurant though. For critique, I think all the items here are overpriced relative to what you get. We were given small bowls of vegan ramen that costed around $22 before tax which I thought was too much. I even saw other ramen types were $26. Overall, a decent experience here. I wouldn't come back and choose this over regular ramen, but if someone gave this to me I would eat it. read more

Great experience especially on a very rainy, cool day! The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The dining room was clean and light. I had the miso base soup and it was really, really good. The noodles were flavorful and there were lots of vegetables. My son had Pla-Ton Kontotsu, one of their featured dishes and loved it. He added corn and natto. The dumplings were amazing! read more

Genuinely like their ramen more than regular ramen. Their vegan tonkotsu broth is rich and creamy but it doesn't sit as heavy in the stomach as regular tonkotsu broth. Plus, the taste is identical if not better. Their gyoza and that miso fried eggplant were so good read more

My husband has been craving IPPUDO since we first tried it in Cupertino. So as the last stop for his birthday celebration weekend, we drove to West Hollywood to finally get his fix. We were greeted as we walked in and seated right away. We scanned the menu QR code at the table even though we already knew we were going to order the same items we had in Cupertino. We started with the Ebi Mayo and added the Oishi Kara-age to try. For our ramen -- Karaka Spicy and Akamaru Modern. My husband and daughter each added an egg to theirs. Everything was freshly prepared and so, so good!! The broth, noodles and depth of flavors were exactly as we remembered. My husband barely said a word as he thoroughly enjoyed his Karaka Spicy. The Ebi Mayo was heavily sauced but delicious nonetheless. The Kara-age was lightly battered and perfectly fried. We skipped dessert since we still had some birthday cake left at home. :) Service was friendly and efficient. Water was refilled without asking. There's no refills on soda since it's poured out of a can. The space is clean and bright. Street parking was easy in the surrounding neighborhood. I am 100% sure we'll be back soon! read more

My husband and I came here for the first time to try their vegan ramen. We both got the "Pla-ton Tonkotsu." We were both very disappointed. The ramen noodles were like ramen from cup of noodles and the dish profoundly lacked flavor. We also added the marinated egg (Umami Tomago) to our soups and they literally tasted like regular boiled eggs and lacked the dark outer color because they said they don't marinate the eggs in soy sauce. The food is WAYYY overpriced for the poor execution of these dishes. $22 for ramen plus $4 for a regular boiled egg is ridiculous. And if you like Japanese tea, you should skip ordering tea here. We both order sencha and got a tea kettle with one tea bag. It was comical how pale and watered down our teas were. I recommend skipping this place. There are many better place in the area that have much better vegan/vegetarian ramen and ironically cost less. read more

The seasonal fish flake ramen has made a permanent return in the Bonny bonito ramen. I *love* bonito, so this is a must every time. Fishy, smoky, thick, rich broth with plenty of chewy noodles. Please try it, it's my favorite ramen broth in LA. And we always grab a side of shishito to start and keep the yuzu salt for the rest of the meal. I do wish the chashu was a bit thicker nowadays, though read more

I'm a big fan of the Ippudo chains! I always make sure to visit when I was at the SF location (and NY one too). So I was very excited to try out this WeHo location. Interior is very modern but and much more laid back than the super stylized SF/NY locations. Truffle fries were yummy with the sauce trio. Good amount and crunch with each fry. I was personally very interested in the Mentaiko Mayo and if you enjoy mentaiko, this is a good choice. Note that the sauces are sold separately from the fries. I also enjoyed the Tartar Mayo and Honey Mustard. Veggie Karaka Spicy was great. Despite the mushroom broth, I found really hearty and filling. Good choice if you also like a thicker Noodle. Also enjoyed the thick tofu piece they add! Spice wasn't crazy for me but I've been told Japanese spicy isn't really spicy. Akamaru Modern was also good. Very rich tonkotsu broth that rightly pairs with their thin noodles. Good amount of toppings. This choice is their house special so you can't go wrong! read more

Pretty terrible the other night, and no wonder why when you drive by and there's absolutely never anyone in there. There's no pork in the ramen bowls. There's no bottled beer. It's all on tap, and you get one lousy glass full. Soy sauce is not offered, except as a little tiny scrape of it served in a tiny dish (no jar at the table). And, it just generally didn't taste good. Edamame wasn't good. If the place is not already on the way out, it oughta be. read more

**Finally, a Ramen Spot to Love in West Hollywood!** After moving from Japan, finding a place that satisfies my ramen cravings has been a journey. Most of the time, I'd have to trek all the way to DTLA for a real bowl of ramen. But thankfully, this little gem has made its home in West Hollywood, and it's been a game-changer! Let's address the elephant in the room--it's a bit overpriced for ramen (like most of LA), and charging extra for toppings like tamago (egg) that usually come standard was a bit of a surprise. The seating is cozy and welcoming, the ramen is delicious, and right now, it's not too crowded. But I doubt that'll last--once word gets out about this spot, it's going to be packed! My advice? Start with the traditional ramen to get a feel for the flavors and then explore. The Karaka is my personal favorite--it's got just the right kick--and the Dan Dan is also a must-try. Plus, there are tons of veggie options, so there's something for everyone. West Hollywood just leveled up its ramen game. Don't sleep on this spot! read more

The place is beautiful. Inviting. The staff is very friend. Good service. As a former waiter I'd suggest cleaning the table as soon as the guest leaves rather than waiting until a customer shows up. The restaurant was not busy. One other table. The issue I have is the food. When I think of ramen I think of a rich, historic depth of flavor. Like you can taste the story of the nation in which it originated. This ramen was bland. I was a bit embarrassed as a vegan because I brought a non-vegan friend here as first time customers, and it's places like this that make people think that vegan food isn't flavorful. We both had the Pla-ton ramen, and the gyoza. The gyoza was fine. The ramen is marketed as traditional. It seems that ethnic restaurants in cities like LA often water down their flavoring for a Eurocentric palette. It was just lacking in flavor. We also asked for the spice paste on the side. It was not spicy whatsoever. Barely even a heat profile. The restaurant has great potential if it would just be bold. Just go for it! Bump up the flavor and own it. You'd have a line around the block. read more

This is the best ramen I've had in Los Angeles. I've been here many times now. The food is a flavorful, diverse array of ramen, really interesting rolls, gyoza with unique sauces. The Pla-Ton Tonkotsu is a fortifying cashew/creamy broth; the Miso Vegetable arrives covered because of its magical, aromatic smoke. These are my favorites of the many vegan ramen offerings. Finally, this staff couldn't be nicer. Cheerful, helpful, and swift. Good luck to them. read more

Best Ramen in West LA! This place has such a beautiful, traditional inside with really great ramen flavors. I went to this place in SF and it seems there is a bigger menu here in LA. I had no idea this was in the area and it is such a gem! I got the Shiromaru Motoaji-- It is perfectly flavored with such a yummy broth, a perfect bowl of ramen. I came here on a Friday night around 8:30pm and it was surprisingly not busy at all! Seated right away and everything came out fast. There is a lot of street parking right next to it in the neighborhoods or there is a structure nearby. 100% coming back :) read more

It was a cold and cloudy day in Los Angeles, and I was craving a hot bowl of noodle soup. My friend and I decided to head over to Ippudo during our lunch break to try something new. I got the Akamaru Modern, while she opted for the Karaka Spicy. For starters, we ordered Goma (cucumbers) and the french fries. Don't sleep on the complimentary pickled mustard greens or spicy bean sprouts. My fave of the two was definitely the bean sprouts which complemented the Goma really nicely. We chose the mentaiko mayo as the dipping sauce for the fries and it was definitely the right move. There's a nice saltiness from the mentaiko mixed with the creaminess of the mayo which creates this aioli-like sauce for the fries. Now, onto the stars of the show: the noods! The Akamaru Modern Ramen was full of flavor, there was a richness to the broth with just enough seasoning. I finished my entire bowl and slurped the soup until the last drop. My friend said the spicy ramen was equally delicious. We're already making plans to go back and try all the other items on the menu. Now that winter has finally hit Los Angeles, I'll be looking for these delicious bowls of comfort food to keep me warm. read more

Came in for my birthday, and left mildly disappointed. The food itself was delicious and it is a pleasant surprise to see a restaurant chain going through the trouble of becoming an all vegan location. But, unfortunately the sushi rolls they offer were insanely overpriced for how much you get. $12 for a 4 piece roll is something i have never seen, vegan or not. They even put a photo of an 8 piece roll, which is kind of misleading. Service was great, but it is hard to want to go back with prices that high. I believe the ramen was $20-25 and it was not a very big portion either. I guess if you want to splurge it makes sense, but the ambiance of the restaurant does not reflect the price on the menu. It feels like a normal restaurant, nothing fancy. read more
