DAICHI no MISO (V)(DD) Ramen
Rachel S.

Highly impressed and can't wait to go back/ take friends. I got the "Daichi No Miso | Miso" Ramen - described as consisting of house-made miso, noodles, meat (soy), cabbage, carrot, red onion, mushroom, bean sprouts - topped with fried chickpeas, mix salad, and pomegranate seeds. It's delicious from top to bottom. The broth is rich, hearty, and unlike anything I've ever had in my life. It's the most umami-packed bowl of wow. I think this ramen bowl could revive me from below freezing temperatures and reverse the effects of frost bite. The portions are more than adequate, I even took a lot of my ramen to go. My partner got the "Pla-Ton Tonkotsu" Ramen - complete with "Tonkotsu" broth (the vegan version of a slow-cooked pork broth), vnoodles, chashu (tofu), marinated carrots, fried Enoki mushroom, micro herb mix - all topped with avocado oil and black pepper. Again, this ramen was unlike anything I've ever had. It was creamy, rich, and a true comfort food that felt very reviving and healthful. We also shared the "Let's Groove - Tuna-Eat" Sushi Roll. It comes as 4 pieces and consists of seaweed, avocado, tempura asparagus, carrot, red cabbage, vegan tuna mayo teriyaki sauce, mayo, fried onion and chopped chives. These rolls are huge, flavorful, delicious and delightfully balanced. I can't wait to try more of their rolls because this one was so good. I usually worry about vegan fish because I've never eaten fish and it's just never been appealing to me, but this tuna is really ... vegan, in the most complimentary way possible. And I think vegans and non-vegans alike will love it. Atmosphere-wise, Ippudo V is a popping bistro-style restaurant on Santa Monica Blvd in WeHo. The tables are shared so multiple parties are sat together, which makes it lively and builds up a community energy. Despite it being busy, our food came out quickly and we enjoyed every moment. They offer sorbet which I'm sure is delicious, but I do hope they are planning to offer more unique desserts that match the wow of their ramen and sushi.

Stopped in on a Saturday at noon and we were the only ones in the place which was a little concerning but it didn't disappoint. Cucumber Salad - simple but elegant presentation of sliced pieces of sesame and vinegar marinated crunch. OINARISAN- very inventive sushi roll of avocado and cucumber topped with sweet tofu (inari) with a dollop of wasabi which gave it a unique sweet & spice combo. Tonkatsu Ramen- creamy broth that balanced the al dente noodles and the mushroom tempura made this a very enjoyable vegan bowl. Service was excellent & friendly and the interior was immaculate.

PLA-TON TONKOTSU (V)(DD) with "Umami Tomago"

My husband and I came here for the first time to try their vegan ramen. We both got the "Pla-ton Tonkotsu." We were both very disappointed. The ramen noodles were like ramen from cup of noodles and the dish profoundly lacked flavor. We also added the marinated egg (Umami Tomago) to our soups and they literally tasted like regular boiled eggs and lacked the dark outer color because they said they don't marinate the eggs in soy sauce. The food is WAYYY overpriced for the poor execution of these dishes. $22 for ramen plus $4 for a regular boiled egg is ridiculous. And if you like Japanese tea, you should skip ordering tea here. We both order sencha and got a tea kettle with one tea bag. It was comical how pale and watered down our teas were. I recommend skipping this place. There are many better place in the area that have much better vegan/vegetarian ramen and ironically cost less.

Love this place! Great service and the food is always consistently good. Ambiance is bright and airy for a casual eatery. Very yummy broth -- it satisfies all my ramen cravings! Will make this place my new go to for ramen.

I was pleasantly surprised with this vegan turned ramen shop. From previous reviews and pictures, I expected the ramen to not be that great, but it actually was good. I visited this restaurant for an early weekday dinner. Walking-in there weren't too many patrons dining in and we were able to pick our table. The interior was nice and clean and felt fresh with all the plant décor. We were handed physical menus and there's also QR code menus at each table which show the prices of the dishes. I ended up ordering the Pla-Ton Tonkotsu ramen and it was good. The broth was creamy and flavorful. I liked how it wasn't too salty. The ingredients like the carrots, tofu and crispy onion were also nice too. The noodles were also cooked well. It was light and healthy. I also tried my friend's Shojin Shoyu ramen and it was good. The shoyu flavor was on point and I loved the thinner noodles. These were good ramens, but I would still opt for the traditional non-vegan ramen though. The service was pretty decent tand our server was pretty nice. It only seemed like there was 1 server for the entire restaurant though. For critique, I think all the items here are overpriced relative to what you get. We were given small bowls of vegan ramen that costed around $22 before tax which I thought was too much. I even saw other ramen types were $26. Overall, a decent experience here. I wouldn't come back and choose this over regular ramen, but if someone gave this to me I would eat it.

Great experience especially on a very rainy, cool day! The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The dining room was clean and light. I had the miso base soup and it was really, really good. The noodles were flavorful and there were lots of vegetables. My son had Pla-Ton Kontotsu, one of their featured dishes and loved it. He added corn and natto. The dumplings were amazing!

KYOTO MISO EGGPLANT TEMPURA (V)(DD)

Genuinely like their ramen more than regular ramen. Their vegan tonkotsu broth is rich and creamy but it doesn't sit as heavy in the stomach as regular tonkotsu broth. Plus, the taste is identical if not better. Their gyoza and that miso fried eggplant were so good

Food is amazing. Service is great and the ambiance is very adequate with the food. Food is very tasty..

Vegan Tonkotsu Ramen.

SOOOOO GOOD! I can literally eat the Tonkotsu Ramen weekly! Everything at this establishment is vegan. But I have yet to try their sushi-because this ramen is just too good. Service is wonderful! Kind, patient, attentive and friendly. Seating is ample and the energy is always relaxing and inviting. Thank you, Ippudo V!

Been to Ippudo in New York and loved the experience so much, had to come back for it in LA. Super nice location, everything is served very fast and service is super nice. Food is delicious, love their ramens! Also I would suggest to try the steam buns- chicken or shrimp rock!

My husband has been craving IPPUDO since we first tried it in Cupertino. So as the last stop for his birthday celebration weekend, we drove to West Hollywood to finally get his fix. We were greeted as we walked in and seated right away. We scanned the menu QR code at the table even though we already knew we were going to order the same items we had in Cupertino. We started with the Ebi Mayo and added the Oishi Kara-age to try. For our ramen -- Karaka Spicy and Akamaru Modern. My husband and daughter each added an egg to theirs. Everything was freshly prepared and so, so good!! The broth, noodles and depth of flavors were exactly as we remembered. My husband barely said a word as he thoroughly enjoyed his Karaka Spicy. The Ebi Mayo was heavily sauced but delicious nonetheless. The Kara-age was lightly battered and perfectly fried. We skipped dessert since we still had some birthday cake left at home. :) Service was friendly and efficient. Water was refilled without asking. There's no refills on soda since it's poured out of a can. The space is clean and bright. Street parking was easy in the surrounding neighborhood. I am 100% sure we'll be back soon!

Bonny bonito ramen
Dan C.

The seasonal fish flake ramen has made a permanent return in the Bonny bonito ramen. I *love* bonito, so this is a must every time. Fishy, smoky, thick, rich broth with plenty of chewy noodles. Please try it, it's my favorite ramen broth in LA. And we always grab a side of shishito to start and keep the yuzu salt for the rest of the meal. I do wish the chashu was a bit thicker nowadays, though

I wish more restaurants would do this. I stopped in for a quick bowl of their clear broth chicken ramen and it was seriously delicious: light, clean flavor but still really satisfying. Exactly what I wanted. I'm really not a huge fan of those heavy, creamy ramen broths that a lot of people rave about. I get the appeal but personally it just feels like artery clogging overkill for a few minutes of flavor that disappears way too fast. I much prefer a lighter, cleaner broth that you can actually enjoy without feeling weighed down afterward. They also have this matcha ramen that's limited to only 12 bowls a day which immediately caught my attention. It looked really interesting and now I'm curious enough that I'll definitely be back to try it. New favorite ramen spot in LA unlocked!

They have a small parking lot shared among many businesses if you drive over. We were warmly greeted and service was excellent throughout the entire meal. Their Karage was so juicy & plump, cut into slices rather than the nuggets you usually see. It was so incredibly delicious with tartar sauce & a chili oil served to compliment it. What makes Laki Ramen special is their Chicken Paitan/Baitang style ramen, which is rich & creamy and more importantly chicken-based. You usually only see pork-based ramens so this is a welcome change and I love having a speciality shop like this in Los Angeles. It left me feeling less heavy than with donkatsu ramens and has a few thinly sliced chicken pieces on top. I went with the Matcha Ramen which they only serve 10 of each day! But wow, was it nice and I absolutely loved it. Not to mention, the color was so pretty haha! I couldn't resist getting their Matcha Lemonade, as well, and I loved it so matcha ! That matcha lemonade is quali-tea!!! We also tried Laki's Chicken Cutlet Curry and absolutely loved it. Again, cooked perfectly in a rich and flavor-filled curry sauce. Everything we had at Laki Ramen was delicious! We agreed we'll be back and are intrigued to try their Clam Chowder Ramen! Oh and their music was fire!!! Aaliyah, TLC and Tupac!? I was loving the late 90s R&B/hiphop vibes.

I was afraid that everything was going to be extremely heavy, like French cuisine can be with all the cheese and butter. But I ordered the Combo of the Lemon Butter Chicken Ramen and a side of the Miso Teri Bowl (in case the ramen would be too much for me), and I was blown away by both dishes. The Lemon Butter is NOT heavy at all. It felt light and savory, but had a depth of flavor that's hard to identify because this is a dish I have never had anywhere else before. I can see why it's the most popular item on the menu. I took the side of Miso Teri Bowl home for dinner as the ramen was filling enough. There's a hint of wasabi in the dressing they drizzle over the shredded green onions that elevate this dish from other Teriyaki Chicken bowls I've had. Just DELICIOUS. I'd come back to Tonsho just for this rice bowl. My friend got the Dan Dan Ramen which he said blew his mind. He was surprised by the lightness of the broth, which is unlike the Chinese Dan Dan which is usually made of heavy creamy sesame paste. He actually drank most of the broth, and didn't feel like he was cheating on his diet. Additionally, the design of the restaurant, from the layout to the choice of bowls and utensils reminded me of a certain 2-Michelin Star restaurant in Culver City. The service was bar none. The waitress was attentive and thoughtful, even getting us a glass of water after we had been sitting there for another hour after paying our check. We never felt rushed or pushed out. Five stars, period. Coming back for more.

This was so good I might have to because I already know I'll be craving it again soon. Shiromaru Classic ($18)-- It was such a beautiful bowl. No complaints at all. The soup base was rich without being overwhelming, light enough to be able to drink. Meat was nice and tender, bamboo shoots were included, noodles were cooked perfectly firm (which is exactly how I like them!!) The places where they give you a slip and you put noodle texture (eg. Shinsengumi) I'm always picking firm/hard and this is their default! Amazing. I don't like soggy noodles so this worked out great for me. BONUS they have free kaedama right now! It ends in May. That means you're basically getting 2 bowls for the price of 1 so just ration your soup and toppings. One time per person but that's good enough for me! Toppings at the table-- sesame (grind it yourself), spicy bean sprouts and spicy pickled mustard greens. I love when places have a sesame grinder because it's just extra fragrant compared to just sprinkling the seeds. The spicy bean sprouts and mustard greens are good too! Had a little kick which is nice if you want to change up the soup a little bit. I liked the texture it added too. I parked across the street at the Steps plaza but if you get lucky maybe you'll find street parking! Overall I loved this place way more than I thought I would.
