I've been to their other location in San Francisco, but, this was the first time visiting this location in Cupertino. Main Street is usually pretty popular so parking can be a challenge to find in the lot or parking garage. The ambiance is modern, nicely decorated, and Japanese. They have house music playing throughout the restaurant. Two single-user unisex restrooms. The service was friendly and attentive. Use the QR code on each table to look at their menu. The server will take your order when you are ready. I ordered the Akamaru Modern: Pork tonkotsu broth, Hakata thin noodles, pork belly chashu, slow-cooked pork loin chashu and chicken chashu, scallions, seasoned bamboo shoots, fragrant garlic oil, topped with Ippudo's original "Umami " paste (4/5). I liked the full bodied rich broth with the garlic oil. The portion was enough but if you are really hungry you should order the kaedama (or extra serving of noodles) or an appetizer. My wife and friend shared the Kuro-Obi: known for its hearty, over-the-top portions and intense flavors. The noodles are thick, chewy noodles in a rich, pork broth, which is often oily and packed with umami. Toppings include generous 2 slices of fatty chashu, heaps of bean sprouts, and cabbage. Please choose from the following three options: Noodle Portion: Regular (200g), Large (300g) Fat Level: None, Less, Regular, Mashi (Extra), Mashi Mashi (Ultra) Vegetable Portion: None, Less, Regular, Mashi (Extra), Mashi Mashi (Ultra) (4/5). My wife and friend liked the rich pork bone broth and yet slightly had a vegetable taste from the cabbage and beansprouts. The thick noodles were firm, yet bouncy. A nice texture thing. We will be back. Support your local business.

Staff were very attentive. Menu was nice and very different, aestically. Love the free side of noodles (2026), it definitely made the meal more fulfilling and worth the price. Miso soup: 5/5 Original: 5/5 Honestly it's one of the better ramen spots in the South Bay, top 5 easily.

Goma-g (chili oil cucumbers with sesame oil)

TL;DR -- Ippudo is a solid spot! Get the takoyaki, and refreshing dressed cucumbers with sesame oil and the akamaru ramen if you like a thin tonkotsu broth + thin noodles Thought it would be way more crowded at 5pm on a saturday evening (especially at cupertino main street) but it was relatively empty. The atmosphere is lively with tables/booths small and large. The decor boasts all of their locations worldwide, along with a traditional Japanese decor. The restaurant is clean! We ordered quite a lot: The cucumbers dressed in chili oil and sesame oil, chili oil gyoza, chicken karaage, and takoyaki balls. Of these apps, I would say the takoyaki and cucumber dishes were my favorite! The cucmbers (all though simple) were carried by the sesame oil and the smallest kick of chili oil flavor. It was fresh and the remaining sauce on the plate helped provide a dipping sauce for the other dishes which were quite lacking in flavor (gyoza + karaage, imo). I ordered the akamaru modern tonkotsu ramen. That was TASTY for real. Broth is lighter than what you may think of tonkotsu (typically thick and heavy) and the noodles were the thin ones which were PERFECT. IMHO: thin noodles are BETTER than thick noodles. My friend tried some of mine and they said they liked mine better than theirs (spicy miso ramen). I would come back for certain!

I had their karaka spicy and my boyfriend had the chicken kara-rage. Both were pretty good, the spicy broth was nice! He said the fries are definitely the steak fries from Walmart (I still liked them). He seemed pretty certain. We went on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty quiet, just us. Perfect rainy day lunch.

Service: 4.3 fast & efficient Food: 3.1 Ramen 4.2 karrage bowl 2.6 tempura roll Work weekend day 1 and we went in search for food; and it was raining that day so our mood was for something warm = RAMEN We went to two different Ramen locations and line was out the door, so I Yelped again and Ippudo had to be the winner! There looked like another line out the door but I dropped off the wife and looked for a parking spot, when I got to the restaurant there was only a short wait. Once seated everything was fast and efficient. There was only one guy in the front kitchen handling the ramen orders but he was a champ making it look easy. I was hungry and wanted to order a bunch of food but realized that we don't have a frig for leftovers so we only got Yuzu Ramen, Chicken Karrage bowl, and Shrimp tempura roll...oh and some drinks too! The rice bowl is filing and the chicken had a crispy outside and the meat juicy. The Yuzu ramen was good but the amount of soy used didn't let the Yuzu come through and gave it a sour aftertaste almost vinegar taste. The shrimp tempura roll was a "basic" crunch roll light and crispy but a bit over priced IMO. Overall experience was good but will need to come back to try the other Ramen dishes to give it a proper food review.

DRAGON TANTAN (DD)

Went here for lunch with a friend and we both had a good time! It was quite busy when we came in, but were able to get a seat fairly quickly. There were so many options to choose from but we settle d on the Karaka Spicy and the Dragon TanTan. We also did the Treasure (protein, egg, menma, and nori). The cucumber salad was delicious and really refreshing for such a warm day out. Both noodles dishes were rich and the Niku-miso bolognese was pretty flavorful. Since it was lunchtime, it was expected to be louder and busier. Staff handled the crowd well and were really on top of getting waters refilled, orders in, and having good vibes.

Since we moved into this neighborhood, I have been wanting to try this place. The few times I walked by, the restaurant didn't seem busy. However the day we decided to try them, there were more customers which was a great sign. A relatively small restaurant. There's a laminated 'newspaper' like menu on the table as well as a QR code scan for a digital menu. Server brought water and utensils to the table while we perused the menu. We tried the Goma Q-marinated cucumber, spicy gyoza, oishi Kara-age, Karaga Spicy ramen and the miso ramen. All of them were delicious. Our fav was the spicy gyoza. The sauce had just a hint of the Szechwan pepper but not so overpowering. The Kara-age was nicely proportioned and cooked well. Good flavor. Of the 2 ramens were ordered I liked the Karaka best. The broth was very flavorful with their special 'bolognese' paste. The miso was good too but I enjoyed the karaka better. There's also some condiments on the table. There's a marinated spicy bean sprouts called and a 'pickle' they call Takana. Both are very good and does add to the ramen flavor. I just ate them as is - they were so good! Servers were attentive and checked on us quite often. Didn't realize they had other locations worldwide! Would definitely come back when I'm in the mood for ramen

It's been some time since I've revisited Ippudo and I think my rating remains the same. Ordered the Takoyaki as a starter and the Shiromaru Classic with onsen egg. The takoyaki was great, larges pieces of octopus and liked the mentaiko mayo served with it. Great texture on the takoyaki! The Shiromaru Classic is tonkotsu broth with hakata style noodles with menma, scallions, chashu and a slice of naruto. The broth itself was okay but felt like it lacked richness and flavor and felt that it was overly salty. The noodles were okay, decently portioned but lacked that chew I love from ramen noodles. The chashu was also on the tougher side and thin, a bit pale looking tbh. The onsen egg was perfectly cooked. The service was great, but also it was an empty shop with one server. Food came out in a timely manner. Experience and portions were great, I just think there are better bowls of ramen that are more suited to my taste. Price point is a bit steep as well, but to be expected for the area. Bill for 2 ramen, 2 egg additions and takoyaki came out to be around $60.

The dragon ramen was so tasty. I think i am biased because it was after a long day of volleyball. But the fatty broth hit so hard but it didn't make me feel sleepy afterwards. It was not as spicy as i wanted but that was on me. I heard this place went downhill in flavor, but i think it still hits pretty hard. Lemme know if anyone else feels the same way

A classic Main Street spot. I've visited several times and been satisfied with every visit. There's usually a pretty lengthy line on the weekends, so be prepared to wait a bit. The interior is fashionably decorated, with sleek decor and furniture. The service is unremarkable - it can be a bit slow since the restaurant is so busy. The ramen is always delicious. It's a standard price and quantity for the South Bay. I specifically love how thin the noodles are. The thinness of the noodles is accompanied by a great chewy texture. Every bite of the noodles is heavenly. The broth is savory and rich. I also really enjoy all the toppings, like the thick pork slices and bamboo. I've tried the spicy ramen as well, which is extremely flavorful. I'll definitely be visiting again!

Sapporo draft ($5 during daily happy hour)
Kaho L.

Really solid spot for ramen, especially if you're in the mood for a more savory and rich style. First, their daily happy hour from 3-6 is great, which decent discounts on some appetizers and drinks. The $5 draft Sapporo is a steal. Also their Goma Q marinated cucumbers are dangerously addictive, but warning not to dip too much into the extra sesame oil because it's pretty salty. The ramen is pretty good, with nicely al dente noodles and rich broth. I like that they have two different style of egg you can add on, the usual marinated boiled kind and also the soft sous vide style onsen egg kind. The bowls are a little on the smaller side though compared to other places. The marinated bean sprouts and takana in the jars on the side are a nice touch and go well with the ramen. Overall I'd say it's not one of my top ramen spots but a pretty solid choice if I'm in the area, especially during happy hour.

SHIROMARU CLASSIC

===TL;DR=== - SHIROMARU CLASSIC - SHIROMARU CLASSIC + egg - BONNIE BONITO TSUKEMEN + egg + special combo + extra noodles ===TMI=== I haven't had ippudo for a hot minute so thought I go back for another try. My thought hasn't change, it was still just alright for me. Better than your regular bowl of ramen but nothing over the top. One thing I must say is beware of the side toppings. A base bowl of ramen nowadays is already pretty pricy... after a couple more toppings or add-ons later, a bowl of ramen can get up to $30-40+. Overall they're still not bad.

As a New Yorker-turned-Californian, I walked into Ippudo with all the nostalgia you can imagine. The NYC location was practically a character in my love story. My husband and I had our first date there so returning to Ippudo on the West Coast felt like a full-circle moment. Service: Quick service. Food: * Karaka Spicy Ramen w/ Tomago Delicious, rich, and balanced. The spice level was on the gentler side--definitely could've kicked it up a notch or two--but the broth still hit all the right notes. * Pork Buns Still soft, savory, and mouthwatering... though I swear the NYC version had an extra "wow" factor. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, maybe it's the water (New Yorkers love to blame the water). * Spicy Dumplings Solid. Good. Enjoyable. But not something I'd write home about. * Chicken Buns & Chicken Karaage These were just okay. Not bad, not great--just middle of the road. I've definitely had more memorable versions elsewhere. Overall: A lovely visit that stirred up old memories and delivered a satisfying meal. While some dishes didn't quite match the magic of my NYC experiences, the ramen and service made the trip worthwhile. If you're looking for a comforting bowl, this spot delivers.

Do they have gluten free noodles?

Yes, they said they do!

When will the tsukemen ramen be back?

Hello! I had just called the business phone number and they said they no longer do outdoor seating, is this true? The amenities on Yelp still mention outdoor seating.

It's all indoor or takeout. The seats outside are gone.

Are any items gluten-free?

How long can we expect to wait after 6 pm on a weekday?

Hi Maggie, please call the store at 408-721-6789 for the most accurate wait times, thanks!

How can you make a reservation for outdoor dining? The voicemail says through Yelp but it doesn't seem to offer any reservations.

Hi Charlin, at the moment we are only accepting walk-ins.

Are well behaved dogs allowed at my table while outside dinning? Thanks!

Hi Shane. Thank you for your question. Of course! :)

Is the tsukemen still available? I haven't seen it as an option on the website for takeout.

It was only available during the summer. Not sure if they will bring it back

Hi, I called to make a reservation. It said go on to Yelp. There is not place on Yelp to make a reservation and not on your website. Can you please help?

Hi Joe, Thank you for your question. I am answering this question on December 8th, 2020. Currently Santa Clara county has discontinued all indoor and outdoor dining. All restaurants in Santa Clara County are only operating take out meals. No…

I live about 30 minutes drive from the restaurant. If I order takeout ramen, are the ingredients packed in such a way that the noodles, for example, won't get mushy?

Hi Jennifer, First, I apologize for the very delayed response. I somehow missed your question…

Can we order take out from yelp and pick up at restaurant?

Hello Takako. Thank you for your question. The easiest was to order online is to go to orderippudo.com or use the QR code shown on our yelp page. You can order and pay online and then pick up at the restaurant.

Can you get the noodles raw when ordering online?

Hello O.C. Thank you for your question. We are currently working on printing instruction cards so guests can prepare raw noodles at home. After those are printed we will enable the options to select uncooked/raw noodles during the ordering…

Is the shoyu broth pork based?

Hi Jillian. Thank you for your question. The broth is a seafood and chicken broth. We do add some pork to it to make the broth richer, but this is added when making your ramen, so it can be omitted (although it will not taste as rich and…

Now with Covid-19 and the Bay Area on shelter-in place order. Does your location offer take out? We still want to support local business but can't dine in.

Hi J.T. Thank you for your question. We are currently open for take-out between 11am - 8pm…

To be clear, do you have any noodles that are not made from wheat flour?

Hi Lawrence, thank you for your question. Currently all of our noodles have wheat flour. So none of them are gluten free. But we do have two types of noodles, one of which is a vegan noodle (no egg).

*Specifically on weekdays at lunchtime* (Monday - Thursday), how is the wait?

I went with a party of two last week on a Wednesday for lunch and waited for around 45 min from 11:15-12:00pm before being seated.

The Akamaru veggie ramen has dashi (which contains fish) so there is no vegetarian ramen then? Or is there a special vegetarian option not on menu?

Hi Kara, We make our own dashis in house and the Akamaru Veggie Ramen is made with a sesame dashi.…

I preferred the Tonkotsu, while my wife favored the Shoyu. Both were flavorful without being overly salty or greasy. The overall style felt more refined and balanced than some of the heavier ramen I've had. You can choose between thin and thick noodles, which had a nice texture, and the portions were just right. The highlight for me was the chashu. The fatty pork had a wonderful smoky, chargrilled flavor that added richness and complemented the lighter overall style of the ramen really well. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Japanese pop music played at a comfortable volume, creating a nice atmosphere without making conversation difficult. We didn't have to wait for a table. Prices were reasonable. Parking can be tricky around mealtimes since the restaurant is in a busy shopping plaza. I didn't mind them adding a service charge to the bill. It's actually more convenient that way. Our server brought over the menus, and two cups of their infused spa water as we sat down, and told us that they no longer served shrimps at all of their locations. I really enjoyed their "spa water", which was infused with watermelon, lemon and mint; very refreshing. I liked their Tonkotsu Ramen, but my new favorite was their Vegan Ramen. I ordered it with thin noodles and garlic/house spicy sauce on the side. The mini Pork Rice Bowl and mini green salad of my husband's Combo came out quickly. I had a little bit of both. The salad was fresh, and the pork rice bowl was delicious with a very generous amount of tender vegetables pork and a yummy sauce on the rice. Our ramen bowls came out shortly after. The broth of my vegan ramen was flavorful, and the sesame taste really stood out. The broccolini was charred to perfection; plenty of other vegetables; the texture of the soy meat was interesting. Definitely a healthier option while satisfying my ramen craving. My husband enjoyed his tonkotsu ramen with thick noodles as well. We'll be back.

However, I felt like the udon noodles were limp and soggy! Maybe they were overcooked that day. I was also underwhelmed by the toppings -- 2 paper-thin slices of chashu, some fried lotus root, and one piece of bok choy for an 18$ price tag is steep. The Beef Curry Udon was better -- it had some pieces of oxtail in the curry broth, at least.
