    Fried chicken rice bowl

Good flavors overall but pricey and took a little long to get our food. I got the Akamaru ramen, and my friends got the fried chicken rice bowl and the chasu rice bowl. Everything was very good but I felt that the ramen wasn't as big of a portion as other places (?). I think this location doesn't have as big of a menu as other locations just FYI. Drinks were ridiculously expensive too so we opted for water.

We were looking for a ramen place around Rockefeller center and thought of Ippudo on 4th street!! I can't believe they have one store so close to Rockefeller center so we went before 12pm, expecting to be a line out the door... but your surprise, there's no line!! It's pretty empty inside with maybe 2 parties.. the feel is different than the one on 4th, this place is a little more quiet and calm.. not as rushed and we can sit and relax and enjoy our food.. we ordered 1 dragon tan tan, and 1 shiromaru classic.. I have to say I LOVE the dragon tan tan!! The spice in the soup is so good!! The noodle is nice and chewy!! But I d wish they have more meat!! As for the shiromaru classic, good rich broth.. a little on the mild side.. do wish they come with an egg (or half an egg)... portion do seem a little small.. other wise it was awesome!!! Will definitely come back to try other flavor!! Especially the spicy one!!! Oh also, it started to get more busy toward 12:30... so best is to come early (before lunch time) then should get a table with no issue!!

I remember the crazy wait with the original ippudo location and actually did not know there were more locations until today when we were in the area. We went early around 11:30am and was happy there was no wait. I was a little disappointed at first, the decor was not as cool as the original and also seems like the presentation of the ramen was not as good. But things changed when we started eating. The noodle is amazing and the broth is even better. We so enjoy the tantan sesame broth. My only gripe is, for $23, at least give me half an egg, also they chopped up the meat for the dragon tantan so it doesn't feel like there's that much meat. Other than that excellent ramen.

I came here on a Friday night for a quick bite, the ambiance was nice, dim-lighting, very lively. The service was also great, everyone was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the takoyaki and was initially a bit surprised that it was a bit different from what I have had before (no bonito flakes as topping) but it was still pretty good. The exterior was crispy but the center was still a bit runny with wet batter. It was served very hot and there were lots of octopus chunks in each ball which I appreciate. I ordered the miso ramen and it was too salty for my liking. The noodles were the perfect texture though and I loved the toppings. Maybe I should've ordered the tonkatsu ramen (more popular option). I think if I were to rate this place on the food alone, I would give it three stars but with the service and ambiance overall, I enjoyed my experience!

Ippudo is a popular ramen chain from Japan with locations worldwide. I was also at their East Village location over 10 years ago. That location is much bigger and has a much fancier looking decor than this one. The food here was still excellent though. We ordered a large variety of appetizers in addition to our bowls of ramen. For the appetizers, the truffle fries and the takoyaki (fried octopus balls) stood out as the best ones to me. They were both very flavorful and fresh. Ramen was top notch too as expected. Their broth is well seasoned and their bowls come with lots of tasty toppings. Keep in mind that their prices are a little high compared to other places, which is definitely just because of their popularity. I've had equally good ramen at other places for a few dollars less per bowl.

The mixed reviews of this place are ridiculous. This location matches the high standard of Ippudo's other NYC locations. Outstanding texture variation with the variety of toppings, broths that taste like they developed for hooooours, exquisite ramen noodles, quick service, and an unintimidating, unpretentious bamboo aesthetic inside. It's a short walk away from Times Square, but far enough away that the crowds break up. It is smaller inside than, say, the 51st street location, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were a wait at peak times. My brother and I showed up at 5p on a Saturday and it was only 1/3 full, with ~10 early diners.

I wish the meat was thicker here, but the noodles are great. I got the dragon tantan ramen which has chopped up pork and a creamy/ slightly spicy broth. I'm obese, so I got extra noodles and a set of meat and bamboo plus an egg. The egg is pretty interesting because it was runny inside but kind of thick. They deliver the extra noodles later, so it doesn't get clumpy waiting on the side. I think the noodles are better than ichiran since it's chewier.

Digital menu - https://ippudony-menu-qr.netlify.app/ Simple and straightforward restaurant layout, clean and wood/bamboo focused. Iced green tea is small, but solid matcha flavor. Service was quick, in and out for lunch in 30min. Definitely gets busier after 12p. The basic ramen (SHIROMARU MOTOAJ) is solid but the meat I would've preferred belly instead of loin meat. The description has: Pork tonkotsu broth, Hakata thin noodles, scallions, seasoned bamboo shoots, naruto, and slow cooked pork loin chashu. The treasures plate gives you a choice of meat (or tofu) plus some seaweed, the soft-boiled egg, and bamboo (menma). Tofu is cold, though, so add to soup if you want to get more flavor and warmth.

Service: Service was fine/as expected, staff were friendly. They yell in Japanese welcoming you into the restaurant. Food comes out pretty quick. Food: Perhaps the bowl used is deceiving, but when it arrives it seems like there isnt much food given as there is a large gap from the rim of the bowl to where the broth is. The broths were flavorful but oily. For Akamaru, they give you 2 slices of meat which is sliced like the width of deli meat. The meat itself was nothing special, it wasn't chewy but also not melt in your mouth. But from what I detected it seems like they season their meat separately. For Yuzu Shoyu, the broth was interesting as I've never had Yuzu Shoyu before. The chicken was white meat but- not dry, not super tender. You also have to pay extra for extra toppings. If they gave a bigger portion or a couple more toppings in each bowl I think that would be good. Ambiance: The places was small but had a nice wooden interior. The front of the restaurant seemed like a waiting area but could be used for dining. You are able to sit at the 'bar. Their menu is on a wooden block which might be hard to scan if the phone can't register it. Overall, for the price of the meal and the amount you get, it's not worth in my opinion. However, I will say that if you're looking for a quicker sit down meal where you can get your food quick, eat, and leave then ippudo would be a good choice.

Came here after MoMa, I was really looking forward to have ramen on a cold fall night, the wait wasn't too bad, we were seated within 15 mins, I ordered dragon Tan Tan w sesame broth, the ramen was served luke warm, flavor was ok, i didn't like the char siu is all chopped up in small pieces, the portion of the noodle could be a little bit more considered it's charging $23 per bowl before tax, staffs were doing their things to hover customers in and out, I was going to look at the dessert menu but i was given the check by another staff. they have beers, sake and some non alcoholic drinks. I had many great ramens at east village location and this just didn't live up to it!

    Daizu no chikara ramen
    Michael J.

Formerly hyped to within an inch of its life, Ippudo was one of the first big-deal ramen places in NYC. Years later, the tide of fashion has mostly washed over it and onward, although we still had to wait 25 minutes at 5 pm on a Saturday for a table in Ippudo's no-frills, no-reservations dining room. The broth of the daizu no chikara miso ramen achieved the wonderfully oily, creamy consistency I love, and the thick wavy noodles were the perfect texture and diameter for chewing. The flavor was good but not as deep as I was hoping for. I was less impressed with the tofu and vegetables, the latter of which had seemingly received little care before being tossed in. It added up to a very competent bowl of ramen that meets a New Yorker's exacting bar for good enough. Nowadays, neighborhood ramen spots that match Ippudo's ambiance and quality are a dime a dozen. Maybe we should thank Ippudo for being the great-granddaddy of that phenomenon, even if it's no better than its numerous offspring.

    Tasty ramen!
    Nathan N.

Pleasantly surprised as I feel the multiple locations have slipped some since the early days of the original. Gfs veg ramen was really tasty as was my pork based. Service was spot on as well.

    Do they do takeout?

    Nop

How long is the lunch line?

I went on a Saturday at 1PM and there was no line! Service was quick so people were in and out relatively fast.

Do they accept American Express card?

    Yes, they do.

Do they have noodles made without eggs?

At the time I went only one bland dish was made with vegan noodles. I asked if I could sub in those noodles in the tastier dishes and they would not, although they were willing to sub rice instead. No idea why.

Do they have gluten free ramen noodle options? I heard Ippudo does but I didn't see the options in the pictures of their menu.

    They do not. 3/22/18

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way.
