While I've had massage therapists in the past that were great, Jon's knowledge and ability surpass any therapist I've known in the past. I'm amazed at how he can track that my pain over there is caused by something over there, and find a tender spot that releases. He employs all sorts of methods to get you feeling better, such as PNF, that have great results. Do not hesitate to book an appointment with Jon! I have had massages from almost 20 different therapists from having worked at a massage therapy office and none have compared to him. He used so many different tools in one session it would have cost me $100+ in add ons had I gone to other chain location. I am incredibly tense and find it hard to relax - I left my appointment feeling like I was walking on air. He truly understands the body and keeps up with the latest research to constantly incorporate new techniques. He took the time to show me stretches and tips to take home. I really enjoyed my massage and body work with Jon, and he is truly one of the friendliest people Ive met. Even though his studio is located at his personal home (something a lot of women should and are skeptical about), he instantly made me feel comfortable and at ease. Now my only issue was that I needed some serious deep tissue action for my shoulder and neck, and I didn't get enough to fix the issue. I felt miles better after leaving Jon's house but the crick in my neck/shoulder didn't fully go away. I ended up going to my usual lady a week later and she beat the crap outta me with her hands and that did the trick. I would definitely go back to see Jon if I was looking for something a little more relaxing. I did love that his massages are very unique and comforting, not traditional in the slightest. I have been on the hunt for a massage therapist. It had been years since I've had a massage (over a decade - that's what having a kid will do to your once cool life style). I have been dealing/ignoring a frozen right shoulder for about 4 years. I decided to actually try and fix the issue this year. Went to an orthopedic doctor and they gave me cortisone and physical therapy. My shoulder felt better after 4 weeks of PT. I started back to the gym and it slowly started to hurt again (it never fully cleared in PT but at least I had more mobility) - had issues lifting weights over 10lbs, etc. I decided to search out a massage therapist to help me since I just ached overall. I went to the MT at my local gym. Youch. My shoulder ached for 3 days after that visit and I would wake during the night when I slept on my affected side. It felt no better - if maybe slightly worse than previous. Next stop was Jon. I was a touch nervous as a woman going to an in home therapist who was a man (I didn't want to end up in the planter in the back yard). I screenshot his info and sent it to friends in case they didn't hear from me again. :) I arrived at Jon's house. He greeted me and I sat in his living room. He had forms that needed completion so he knew what issues I had or didn't have. He was friendly and his house is nice. He showed me to the room and gave me time to undress. By this time I was more comfortable with Jon and took the leap of faith. He talks you through what he is doing and I had some good laughs. Jon is not your typical "spa" massage therapist. He is quite methodical and looking to work with you to solve issues. I'm pretty tight in my muscles and he did some stretching exercises like I would do with a physical therapist. That was new for me. I always thought of massages as not much interaction - they massage you and then you left hopefully relaxed. He focuses on the issues you called out and hits the other areas as time allows (I did a 90 minute massage as I now think 60 is useless unless they are working on a specific problem area and nothing else). Let me just say that by the time I walked out of his room, I had the ability to turned my head to the right (something that cause pain for about 4 weeks) and my arm mobility had greatly increased and I didn't have pain. What?? I didn't even have pain in the days following. He gave me pointers on what I could do to keep the muscles supporting my shoulder stretched until I saw him again. I did see him the following week. I will definitely be back and Jon will now be a part of my overall physical fitness. I even prebooked him for the afternoon after running the RocknRoll Half Marathon in Jan 2017. :) I do have another MT scheduled for October that I purchased via Groupon back in July prior to finding Jon, but I know Jon will be the person going forward because 1. He's really good; 2. He's professional; 3. convenient location to my workplace. If you're looking for that spa experienced (think robes, glass of wine, no interaction with the MT, etc.), I'm not sure if Jon is what you are looking for, but if you have issues and want to feel better when you walk out, then look no further. I first found Jon several years ago when I had severe shoulder pain radiating down my arm and could not lift it easily. The Dr I saw recommended surgery and physical therapy after several tests. I wanted to try alternative therapies first before resorting to surgery. I decided to seek out someone who had neural muscular and SMRT work as part of their arsenal. Jon's ability to hone in and work out the real issue was nothing short of a miracle after months of severe pain and discomfort. Turns out it was some muscle in my armpit creating complete chaos. After several sessions and homework he gave me for home stretches and exercise I was back to 100% mobility and avoided surgery. I have continued to see Jon for maintenance, relaxation and the best healing body work I've ever had. I have been going to Jon for about a year now. He is very professional and listens to your needs. I had hip surgery a year ago and he has helped me a lot in mobility and just overall feeling better.
