Service was a bit slow but we think that was new opening kinks being worked out. Very friendly and great food. Will be back

For a…read moreweeknight, it was getting pretty full by the time we strolled in, but luckily we were still able to secure a table for four. The space itself isn't terribly large, and it looked like there were only three or four people working that evening. After being seated, it took a while before we were able to order our first round of drinks. Normally I don't focus much on service in reviews, but we could immediately tell our waitress was not having a great night. We were forgotten about a few times, but eventually managed to order some small bites, including a charcuterie board and some pretty yummy cheese curds. When we finally caught her for our second round, I complimented her glasses since they were similar to mine, partially in an attempt to cheer her up. I was met with a glare and a mumbled "thanks." When she walked away, all four of us kind of looked at each other like... dang, we're not sure what we did. Having all worked in service ourselves, we try to be respectful, stack our dishes, wipe up after ourselves, and generally make things easier where we can. Oddly enough, when it came time to pay, she returned with a completely different attitude... suddenly cheerful, friendly, and telling us to have a great night. Honestly, the whole interaction was a little bizarre! Service aside, the cocktails were balanced and genuinely good, the food was slightly elevated and hit the spot, and the atmosphere was great, especially with the DJ playing that night. We decided to Uber since we knew we'd be drinking, so I can't speak firsthand to parking, although it looked like street parking could be moderately difficult depending on the night. I'd still go back if I were in the area and the night warranted it. My guess is we caught them on an off night or they ended up busier than anticipated.

Music is played with cassettes which is 80/90s so that vibe is cool. Most of the crowd was 45+. I had the Pear which is NA and apple cider vinegar notes... the fries were so yummy and perfect but they only give you 4.

Relatively easy to find, though you do have to hunt a little bit, Flora Room sits behind a nondescript metal door leading down a short hallway to the entrance. Take a long moment to allow your eyes to adjust if you're coming before sunset; this space is DARK. It's also perfect. Once your "night vision" kicks in you're surrounded by a nice bar, numerous bistro-style tables and booths. Candles adorn the tables creating a nice, cozy place to settle in for drinks. Once seated in comfortable chairs at a table, we were quickly greeted and provided with menus. The cocktail selection is relatively "small" but really nicely varied. Prices seemed a tad steep but frankly, given the quality of the drinks I'd say quite worth it. I started out with the Evita, a nice flavorful gin-base cocktail topped with a nice egg white foam. Very tasty. My wife opted for the Tapaculo, with gin, mezcal, pineapple, banana and bitters over ice. Also quite good. There are also bites available from the associated restaurant I can't recall the name of mine but I can say it was delicious. Bread-like bites with a really tasty dipping sauce. To close out the visit I selected Palo, a smoked aged rum cocktail that was really nice and rich. My wife chose the Nahualito with rum, walnut, amontillado and white chocolate. All should be on your radar. Flora Room really fit the bill for a nice, intimate speakeasy-style spot to spend time. Dark and cozy. Savory cocktails and friendly service will stand out and make you want to return. I know we'll seek it out if we return to Minneapolis again. I hope so.

Wow, this place was cool!…read more The entry is pretty hidden and parking requires a bit of work unless you do valet. We went on a Saturday night, so we had to wait a bit in order to be seated. However, it was worth the wait for us. There is a dark moody vibe and while my group went in for drinks, there are also options for food. The place itself is pretty loud - both with music and talking, so maybe not the best location for a first date. The drinks are expensive, but the experience was worthwhile for us. I enjoyed the meditteránea. I'll very likely be back! What a neat spot.

The redfish is sooo delicious and I'm not usually a "greens"fan but those southern greens alongside the fish were a match made in heaven The charbroiled oysters were good- just make sure u squeeze the lemon as it makes them taste better The crispy boudin balls were a hit, that sauce was yum The cast iron jalapeño cornbread was out of this world!!! The apple bread pudding was soo good !! I need that recipe Now the cocktails were all delicious- the Bee Sting, Hurricane, Chicken Hawk were perfection Service was fabulous- and this place is amazing for their price point, I'll definitely be back!! Parking - available in the small lot next to the building *love that this is a community based operation and reopened after the MPLS riots- I hope they stick around for a while!!

It's been awesome seeming all the progress pics and leading up to opening day. I absolutely LOVE the new space in the Coliseum. It's comfortable, modern, and memorable. I really enjoyed looking at all the photos they have up. Onto the main event. Whereas I do miss a giant pickle along with my drinks, Du Nord staff has really upped the game on their food offerings! The jalapeño cornbread had the perfect texture and just the right amount of sweetness. My watermelon salad was refreshing and done just right. And the drinks, as always, were divine. Congratulations on your new chapter, Du Nord!

They described it as an upscale dive bar which I laughed at for sure, but when I went I would say that exactly how I would describe it. It's dark and moody, but very funky and hip with the neon walls and lights. It's very small, behind the new Public Domain space. Seems like the hostesses direct people waiting on a spot there to Neon Tiger while they wait. We were able to snag one of the last tables after we ordered (there are about 5 tables for 2, and 3 standing bar tables from what I remember). The menu isn't large - it has a couple of beers, some basic cocktails and lists spirits and mixers. The only new and exciting thing on the menu is their slushy cocktails. Good news is that this place isn't very pricey, but the portions aren't huge. My small espresso martini was $12, my boyfriend's beer didn't quite look like a full pint but was only $4. We did laugh that it was called Tiger piss. The espresso martini is good, but beware there's no actual cream liquor in the drink - they seem to squirt some foamy concoction from an unmarked squeeze bottle in a fridge on top, which was interesting. Overall, would come back here if I was bar hopping for cocktails - but wouldn't go out of my way to try it again. Great idea to send people here while waiting for Public Domain!

Nightingale was packed, but fortunately, once two patrons saw my face from the bar, they quickly paid their bill and left. My face often compels people to vacate crowded establishments in Minneapolis, and we often find seats. After grabbing the two seats, we ordered wine and a wonderful Amaro-based cocktail. Jules was our bartender/server, and although he was crazy busy, he found time to be gracious to us. We ordered the meatball appetizer, halibut, and the Nightingale hamburger. My halibut was sublime, cooked perfectly, and it wasn't drowned in sauce. Bravo! The meatballs were tender and delicious, but the hamburger was not memorable. It was good, not great. Despite all the accolades above, when the bill came, I was charged two dollars after requesting a cucumber slice for my Pimms Cup. Perhaps the source of this pettiness came from the kitchen, but it wasn't smart, because the $2.00 charge placed a shroud over my experience. The bill was $125, and because of the petty two-buck charge, I only left a $25 tip. I was going to leave a $30 tip. I will sadly remember those 2 bucks forever. It was a myopic move and a passive-aggressive way to handle my request. In my birthplace home of NYC, a bartender would have said, "Getting a cucumber slice is a pain in the rear, would you mind skipping it?" My response, "Sure, it's not a big deal."
