Interval for me is a family, a place I feel at home. I am part of the interval family since the days of the Garage, you have spent part of my life! I am waiting for 9:30 am to go to workout! Thank you to my dear coaches Roy maytal and elad who without you would not have succeeded in living a healthy and strong lifestyle. No doubt I changed my life from end to end! You're the best thing I could wish for! Thank you for being a part of my life

Crossfit Synapse - Olympic Weightlifting class

Came for a trial class, and had a classic Crossfit style strength EMOM followed by a WOD. The group…read moreseems very closely knit, and there is a lot of banter and side conversations, but coach Jimmy still gave feedback to folks during the time. He was also very willing to chat on the phone before I came in for the class. I wouldn't recommend jumping right into a class if you have not done Crossfit before, since the warm up was somewhat elaborate and would be challenging for a true beginner, although I think it was suitable for mid-range or experienced folks. Jimmy helped me scale the running component of the workout which I appreciated since I have focused on strength but not conditioning recently. Many of the members introduced themselves and it's a very friendly environment. I've visited maybe 50 crossfit boxes over the years (used to travel for work), so it's a familiar vibe. I mentioned to Jimmy during the class that I'm managing wrist injuries including tendonitis, so I did ring rows instead of chin ups. He looked at me with a face of disapproval, and it was maybe 10-20 seconds of silence until I asked him to "use his words", and then he told an anecdote of his own injuries from the past. It was bizarre--when an athlete discloses injuries or limitations the appropriate action is for a coach to help them accommodate or scale the workout appropriately. Many crossfit gyms have this problem of encouraging athletes to "push through" or "tough it out", or discouraging athletes from modifying workouts when there is pain or restrictions. I don't feel confident I'd be able to be accommodated at this gym if I were to join. Other Crossfit gyms (and my old one) are much more trained and accommodating in this area. After the class ended, there was a lot of chatting after about which areas of LA are "shit holes" and one member even told another to "go back to where he came from" when talking about Mexico. It seems they are close and the banter went both ways, but I was a bit shocked, and I didn't feel comfortable in an environment where that kind of conversation is happening. I got an email after the class saying that I "missed my class" so maybe there is a check in procedure that was missed somewhere. In summary, a community that seems close, but may not be right for everyone, including myself. I recommend the staff improve admin procedures, more intentionally accommodate injuries or restrictions, or meet with new members even 10 minutes before class to go over workout history or prior injuries.

I needed to get my health and exercise in order. Both Jimmy and Allison (head coach at that time) gave me simple, precise instruction in getting me to be healthier, be active, and use my energy and fitness effectively and usefully. While I don't attend this box any longer, i always recommend its simplicity, back to basics work ethic, and genuine community to anyone looking for a CF gym to call home. I'd still be here if i lived closer.

Super clean gym, wide open space, good equipment and the friendliest and knowledgable team of coaches. I love that there's proper warm up, stretch session AND thorough instruction for technique and form before the actual workout. Too many gyms overstuff their WODs without proper technique or plan and that's when injury happens. I also love that their workouts are well thought out, so there's a chance for growth, and I'm able to come more than 4-5 times a week without feeling like I'm going to get injured. Also, what a great idea to have a WOD app to log your workouts and have the ability to cheer on others and vice versa. It's very refreshing and encouraging. The members here are all super supportive and friendly too. Just the kind of vibe and camaraderie you need when you're going through a tough session. And one thing I think is so important for any gym is attentive coaching, VS definitely cares. The coaches aren't on their phones, doing their own thing or cleaning or trying to close up when you're doing the workouts, they're paying attention to you. I've been to other places, where it's not the case. Anyway, shout out to the awesome coaches like Allison, Ernie, Tarson, Cassandra, Tia and the very friendly owner Chad for making me feel so welcome. I hope this place never changes because I definitely love coming here.

This place is really spacious and located in a commercial complex right after you pass Vanowen on Canoga. They have a secondary room in the back that is always open for Open Gym as long as classes are going on. This makes it really convenient when you are stuck on a time crunch and need to squeeze something in on your own time. It's actually been godsent when I work, allowing me to work out at lunch when Open Gym isn't available at SC. They have a shower at this facility as well. Everyone is so welcoming and warm. It really is a great family/community to get yourself involved in. If you want to be surrounded by people who motivate you and push you to be the best version of yourself, then try them out. Coaches are very knowledgeable, supportive, friendly and attentive. The workouts will challenge you and every day there is something new. I have done things I had never imagined I would ever be able to do. So if you want to be the best version of yourself, come on down and give it a shot! I am so glad to be a part of this Crossfit Fam!

But my experience yesterday left me completely disappointed and unlikely to return. I arrived 15 minutes late and was told by Edwin (the director) that I couldn't join. I understand punctuality is important, but I've regularly seen other members arrive late, sometimes well into the workout, and they've always been allowed to quietly join a station. This has happened many times and has never been an issue. When I explained this, Edwin first said he'd "make an exception this one time" but immediately changed his mind and refused me entry. He said his members know this policy. I'm not a member of this studio and this policy is not listed in ClassPass. When I pointed this out, he just blamed ClassPass instead of offering any solution or consideration. The whole interaction felt dismissive, inconsistent, and showed no real care for a loyal attendee who is not officially club member. It turned what was normally a positive experience into something so unpleasant that I don't feel like coming back
