My car broke down on I-91 South in Massachusetts while we were heading back to New York. The vehicle was completely inoperable and stranded on the shoulder. Obviously, this is a dangerous situation, as vehicles occasionally strike disabled cars and people stopped along the roadside. I called the police, and Interstate Towing arrived shortly afterward. Driver #585, Joe, was professional, courteous, and incredibly helpful. I had my 4-year-old with me and a fully loaded car, and he worked alongside the responding police officers to ensure our vehicle was safely towed and that my family and I got off the highway safely. I called for a price on a tow to tow my vehicle 5 MI and I was quoted $450. Called another tow company $150.

My handicap brother had a seizure, was taken to the hospital, and interstate towed his wheelchair home for him(less that .5 of a mile) he does not walk this is his way of getting around and charged $149.00 to a person that is on SSI. He wasn't at the house so if I didn't pay the amount they would have taken it and charged storage fees... hopefully karma returns and one of their family members gets stuck with an insane bill. Just wanted to write this review. We were searching for our missing relative at the Ct River. My car got stuck and they lied about the law. The driver said it was submerged and is undrivable. My car was stuck in the mud not at all submerged. They would not allow me to get my belongings. They also lost my keys. The very large guy, and spanish girl at the front window was extremley rude and threatening. She was screaming we live for this shit. What taking advantage of people. We were charged 900.00 and had to make a set of key for 300.00. The city of Chicopee needs to really look at how they treat people and cancel their contract. update to previous review. on 9/23 I had my tire blow out on the mass pike while traveling with my daughter and dog. We pulled over at mm 98 contacted state police and they dispatched this company. mass pike is only contracted w certain tow companies so AAA was of no use. upon driver arriving I asked him about putting the spare tire. the driver then said these vehicles do not have a spare and put the vehicle on the flatbed . Later that was found to be a lie. there is a spare. I was towed to Wagner in Shrewsbury, we immediately got off the pike through an access road and took a short cut . less than 5 miles to Wagner and was charged 226.00 and on top of that a 1.20 charge for the toll! like what?! AWFUL experience... I would literally rather push my car than use this company ever again. They showed up an hour later than the time promised, then the driver couldn't wait FIVE minutes for me to contact AAA to fix the misunderstanding that occurred ... then once AAA contacted the dispatcher to let them know that they could in fact tow my car they sent a whole new driver (when the other one had left 5 minutes prior so clearly couldn't have been more than 2 streets away) who once again showed up 45minutes later than the promised time. Bad experience with this towing company. They have the biggest and best tow trucks but no heart! I was told $35.00 a night to keep my car after two nights it went up to $85.00! When I called and questioned this the man on the phone was rude and told me not to worry about it my insurance would pay for it. Guess what they won't! I'm an elderly female, the tow driver dropped me off at a Dunkin' Donuts and offered no assistance. A stranger in the parking lot came over and helped me with my luggage, as he gave the tow driver a dirty look. Do not use this company! Mixed review here. Broke down on the way to the Cape and enjoyed a quick response with a very pleasant and professional driver/operator. However since this was after hours I needed to wait until the office opened to resolve my issue and have the car taken to a shop. This process could have gone smoother- and in fact was a lot more difficult than it had to be given the fact that I was now on vacation didn't have access to a fax or printer or scanner. So working from the local library I had to make 3 separate trips and multiple phone calls to complete the necessary paperwork, which could have been sent all at once to begin with after the first conversation. After sending. And calling to confirm I was informed the next day that my car never arrived at the designated repair shop. Another call and I was told the paperwork needed to have a box checked (again I called the day before to confirm everything was received and good to go). Oh and since the paperwork was not correct that will be an additional night storage fee- thank you very much... not to mention another day without my car. Now when you break down on the highway you have no choice who to call- but if you do I thought I'd share my experience. Driver 5 stars- office no stars. read more

Interstate Towing towed my car from my street to their office 3 miles away. When I got there to pay my fee, I saw a big sign in their lobby that says the tow cost is $90. I thought to myself well that's reasonable. Not so fast. When I got my bill it was $175. How did $90 go to $175, you may ask. Well when I looked at the charges, there were some ridiculous fees with equally ridiculous names: sublet fee, storage fee, notification fee (huh?). Where did my hard earned money go? Well it's pretty obvious from what you see in their office: freshly painted walls, iPad to play with in the lobby, new security cameras, 10 flatscreen TVs (I'm not even joking). And in addition to all of this, they have a sign next to the check out that mocks their own customers. It reads: "If you parked in the no parking zone outside, then you should think about why your car is in here in the first place." That's not funny, that's just cruel. You're taking people's hard earned money for useless services and then laugh at their pain. I will never recommend this company to anyone. read more

I needed tow service as I was stuck and AAA dispatched Interstate Towing. Prior to them arriving an off duty tow truck driver indicated a flat bed tuck may not fit where I was. I then called Interstate to alert them of this. The dispatcher said all they have are flatbed trucks and canceled the call without resolution. I then had to call AAA again and the dispatched another tow company which did not arrive. I then called AAA again and they dispatched Interstate once again. The driver shows up in a flatbed truck. He immediately indicated our company does not go more than 20 feet the pavement. The driver never assessed the situation and left. The driver was very short and rude. Even the police officer on scene tried to convince him it was doable but he wasn't listening. The driver later said if it was a cash deal he would have done it. I recently had my toolbox towed by interstate. They did a number on my toolbox. Over 5000$ worth of damage. I pursued their insurance company only to be screwed around for over a month and told that they don't cover toolbox's. The owner refuses to answer calls or get back to me. I was told in the beginning that I "should just fix it myself". What they managed to do to my toolbox is beyond comprehension. And their response really has been a shining example of what kind of company they are. An awful, shady, and untrustworthy one. Don't trust your cherished possessions to these guys. Stay away from this company - Incompetent !!! I had mechanical problems with 2010 Lexus which died in my garage with a battery issue. Called AAA and they dispatched Interstate. Driver tried to jump battery but this didn't work. Instead of looking inside the vehicle and noticing Transmission lock key, which he could have easily activated to put the car in neutral, he ended up needlessly dragging the vehicle out of the garage which can cause severe damage to the vehicle. The tow was $4.75 a mile after 5 free miles from AAA, total bill was $98.00 for 20 mile trip to Hartford. When I contacted the manager to discuss why the driver just didn't look inside the vehicle and use the transmission lock device, he made excuses and it was clear the proper training was never given to the driver. One would think that the company would train their drivers a little better so as not to cause needless damage to vehicles they tow. Although vehicle was not damaged, the manager didn't seem too concerned and said he'd talk with the driver. Manager called me back and immediately denied wrongdoing. Once the manager reviewed the paperwork and noticed the tow waiver was signed he could not care less. He then became argumentative and acted like and said he was doing me a favor by calling me back. Terrible attitude. At this point, I had had enough and hung up. Avoid this company !!! Clueless, expensive, and reckless. This same review is being sent to AAA. read more
