Well they got my things here. That's the one star. Next time I move I will take DETAILED pictures of everything. I submitted a claim in February and it is now October. The first response they gave me was poor. They would not cover most of the damaged items because they are able to make whatever excuse they want not to pay out and there's nothing you can do about it, short of suing I guess. Things that the appraiser took pictures of were completely ignored and they simply said there is no damage. All emails I sent to them asking questions were ignored and I had to call them any time I wanted a response just to have them tell me all communication is done by email. This is what you want because you need receipts with this company though all you'll get is crickets. Moving is never fun but Interstate made it smooth. Our move was done in two stages as we did not have final address until two weeks after arriving at our destination. We were provided instructions to take down any wall-attached furnishings such as art, shelves, and cabinets. The packing team labeled and inventoried everything prior to loading and even had a sheet for high value items (beds and treadmill). Packer arrived on a Thursday afternoon and were expected to be done that evening but it took a little longer to sort out the parking situation and being on the 5th floor of an apartment with a small-ish elevator some of the thing had to be carried down. The movers completed packing / loading at noon on Friday. Thankfully, I was also not working any longer and could supervise the entire effort. The only thing we had to plan for in advance was make sure we had some clothing in suit cases before the movers arrived. Don't do what we did and pack a day before the movers arrived. Case in point: I had set aside a nice warm jacket but forgot to put it in my suitcase, so the movers grabbed and packed it. Doh! So when we arrived in Atlanta some of the wet and rainy 40 degree days had to be endured in several layers of long sleeve shirts. Alas I / we made due. After a week-and-a-half of nosing around Atlanta neighborhoods, we settled on a cute little 3 bedroom 1 bath single family house in centrally located Summerhill. Two days after signing the lease, on a Saturday, the moving team arrived at 8am. The same truck that everything had been loaded into in Miami arrived to unload. We took the inventorying sheets and carefully marked each of the 110 items had been unloaded. The move-team put each of the boxes in the correct rooms per instructions and also assisted setting up some of the larger items like the beds, which was much appreciated. Within two hours everything was off the truck and by 11am the movers had left. Two items did not survive the move: an IKEA dresser and a medicine cabinet. Low value items, which we entered onto the claim form and processed the claim. The teams were very professional but I do highly recommend being available to supervise the folks if you have the time to do so. In the long run you'll save time and head aches. I would definite use Interstate for our next move. read more

Their packing services: great. Their movers: good (even though they showed up three hours late the day of the move which pushed it into a two-day move instead of a one-day move). But they were efficient and easy to work with. I would NOT recommend that you have these guys crate/store ANYTHING for you, though. I had them store my entire (fancy, expensive, modern glass) dining room set (table, chairs, sideboard, carpet, huge picture) as well as an art glass fountain during a move from a bigger to a smaller house in 2015 and I've been paying monthly for that storage since then. Now I am back in a bigger house in 2021 with a dining room large enough to accommodate that furniture. When they brought it out of storage, it turns out that they: 1. Didn't crate the glass leaves of my modern Italian dining room table. They were wrapped in movers blankets for warehousing. One of them came back intact. The other came back in a bazillion pieces. This is a table that is no longer manufactured. 2. Didn't crate my art glass fountain. It was wrapped in bubble wrap and a movers blanket. When it was unwrapped, it was in pieces as well. This is a fountain that was purchased at a gallery in Hawaii and is a one-of-a-kind, irreplaceable piece. The artist is no longer active. 3. My eight dining chairs were wrapped in movers blankets and then stacked in such a way that they came back with the seats all smashed and with strange marks on them from what I must imagine were cords or ropes holding them down. They need to be repadded and reupholstered. I had to file a claim with them and I finally received their settlement offer after about 6 weeks. Is it making me whole? Yes. Quite possibly the worst people I've ever dealt with. They raised the "binding estimate" three times. When the movers finally showed up, they nearly doubled the original estimate. Now they won't give us our deposit back. Classic bait n switch. You would think they're a great company at first, the salesman Mark Powers seemed like a great guy. We used Interstate for a move from WV to AZ. They ere great from beginning to end! Clinton and Charlene were incredible with the survey and seeing up the service! Mr Lee was the driver from beginning to end. He along with Oskar and Rigo were great packing and loading our stuff In WV. They had to deal with two flights of stairs as we lived on the third floor. We had packed 93 items. The added another 82 to bring is to 175 total items moved. They treated the items like they were theirs. Mr Lee packed most of the fragile items. Mr Lee kept in contact along the way to let us know when he would arrive at our new location. Mario and Andre unloaded our belongings and put our furniture back to gather. Mr. Lee was right in the middle of it. Great work ethics, efficiency and customer service shown throughout. We would definitely use them again. read more

I started the process of looking for a good moving company and read many of the reviews and was frightened by the bad reviews and what people had gone through. It took an astronomical amt of time for things to get resolved. I finally decided on Interstate moving and relocation group. Gave specific dimensions and number of totes etc. I was given a quote for a move from Clk, WA to Yuma AZ. The movers were to pick up our items Oct. 15th. The broker was supposed to be Windstar but instead another group and looked at the items and said there was no way they could do it for that price, wanted to add 1,000.00 more dollars to the bid. Again, I gave Sebastian specific dimensions of our Harley. On the last day we had to rent a U-Haul for the Harley and take it down ourselves. We were going to be there on Oct. 21st. items did not arrive until Nov. 21st.. Guess what my husband's golf bags were missing, that is the one thing he looked so forward to doing. I had to file a claim with Anthem insurance and it took me an hour to fill this out. After several phone calls and not hearing any updated information I finally was told it would take an additional 5-6 weeks to even review our claim, let alone process a check for the lost items. I shared all my fears to Sebastian and he assured me this company was the real deal. I wrote a BAD review on December 13th. December 14th I received an email offering to claim 500.00 for our problems. I was given a number, the person didn't know anything about this offer and gave me an e-mail. I emailed this attachment of the offer. no response, several emails again and finally got a response back and was promised that someone would return the call. Again, nothing. We are still waiting. The army used them to move us from Colorado to FLORIDA and the problems started right away. The movers showed up late and could finish and caused us to be late moving out of house on base because they had to come back the next day. Then we when got to Florida they were to busy and wanted us to wait over a month to get our stuff and my husband medication for his brain injuries was packed accidentally by the movers. The moving company told me that it would cost me $40 an hour with a minimum of three hours to come find the medication in their warehouse for my husband.We eventually got our items. Most horrific move I ever experienced., We moved from Washington to Virginia and our moving services were late (had to fight customer service to schedule replacement) and their handwriting was illegible for documentation of our household goods. Long story short, upon delivery 5 items were missing while 14 were delivered damaged or broken. They are paying for only 6 items. Everyone I had the displeasure of speaking to were rude and condescending. This is me and my family's stuff packed up in boxes, can't you at pay due respect and common courtesy? First of all the guys that actually did the physical work of moving the furniture were fine and took great care in transporting my mom's furnishings from California to Oregon. We were only missing a broom when it was all said and done, which was not worth complaining about. The problem I had started with the sales guy Mark. He couldn't answer all of my questions regarding the contract and had to put me on hold to get clarification. Ultimately, it ended up being a bait and switch operation. Mark quoted me $4,976.31 and we actually ended up spending $6,275.88, because Mark was off on the cu. ft area of storage that was needed on the truck. He seemed to think weight was more important, not so according to the truck driver, it's cu. ft. So we had no other choice but to go with them, because we were packed and almost ready to go when they arrived. I told the driver we could have gone with someone else had we known the true cost. I was also told by Mark he would expedite this delivery since my elderly mom needed nursing assistance and would be staying with me until her furniture arrived at the Assisted Living facility. I called at least 3 different staff members to ask when we would receive the furniture, and none of them had any idea that it was to be expedited. I was told by the mover/driver to call the moving company for a date of delivery and he thought it would be in a couple of days. So I called R & R Moving and Storage and no one answered the phone, and their mailbox was full, so I couldn't even leave a message. We finally received the furniture 5 days after it was picked up because it went from California to Arizona, to Idaho, then to Washington, and finally Oregon. Very little communication once you sign the contract. They use independent crews to load and unload who are not employed by Interstate. They rush through everything when loading and unloading. They broke two antique end tables, and a lot of other items mostly by not correctly packing them. Damage to the house, damage to my goods, and believe it or not it gets worse. Filing a claim is yet another joke. No communication for two months now. I can only assume they have so many damage claims they are swamped and unable to process them all. I was in Real Estate over 30 years. I've moved several times and have knowledge of many clients moving experiences. I was moving from Alexandria to Centreville; not a huge move and only one bedroom's worth of furniture (but with a couple of BIG, heavy pieces) so I utilized IVL's Clutter Buster Package. The crew was on time, friendly, and communicative. There was a misunderstanding with the schedule but the guys took it in stride and accommodated the move perfectly! As we were getting ready to leave, my car wouldn't start. Let me tell you, this crew saved the day! They jumped into action, put my car in neutral, and moved it from the driveway to a safe spot on the street. Then they actually jumped my car for me. Even with the car troubles and hour and a half commute from Alexandria in rush hour traffic, the whole thing still only took 4 hours. IVL was neat and efficient and went way above and beyond the scope of the job. I would highly recommend and will definitely use them again! read more

Buyer beware. They are budget for a reason. Spend extra money up front to save hassle and thousands of extra later on to recover. This is in regards to a government contracted military move. I didn't have a choice in who to hire. My assigned movers, Interstate, continually misled me throughout my move experience which is still ongoing. They changed packing and pickup dates multiple times without telling me. They also booked four days and told the government they took 4 days when they were there for 2. Then they called days before the required delivery date and told me that my property had not even left the local warehouse. I later scheduled delivery for The 16th. I called back the week after that after not hearing from anyone and was told they loaded my property into a truck but it was still sitting at a warehouse. I was then told that my property may not even leave until after the 16th (my scheduled delivery) even though the required delivery date was 07Feb22. I later found out that one driver took my property, drove out of the area then returned and another company took it and drove it to California ( the opposite direction) then to us. She then told me I could file a claim for reimbursement of a small percentage of my our expenses incurred as a result of their mistakes. She then sent me paperwork for reimbursement; wherein, she falsely claimed that my property left Phoenix on the 4th. I then called the government office who confirmed that the company put in the government system that property was in transit as of 04Feb22. The company then verbally told this same false information to multiple government representatives On the 10th I got a call saying that my property left that day and was routed through California, 6 hours one direction minimum out of the way. The company told me that it was still supposed to come on 16th and that they spoke with the driver. Friday I got a call from the driver who said that he never spoke with the company or told anyone that my property was coming on the 16th. He didn't even have the delivery address. He said that the earliest I would get my property was the 17th. The following week they called and said they were moving the delivery to the 17th officially because the driver was broken down for 3 days. They even went as far as telling me my driver broke down for 3 days for an engine seal, which my driver said never happened. After spending a significant amount of money to take care of, house, and feed my family they denied the claim. Although they continued to change the dates after our travel began (4 days across the country) they are still refusing to pay for the additional days we waited on our belongings. Our property was partially delivered on 17Feb22; however, none of the furniture was able to be assembled due to all hardware being lost. This includes a desk, entertainment center, multiple beds, couches and a dining room table. Also a refrigerator was unable to be placed inside the home due to the movers not having the ability to disassemble it. They also lost some items and caused cosmetic damage to the residence which is brand new house. My family didn't have beds to sleep on, a table to eat on and a refrigerator for food and drinks, and the moving company is declining to reimburse us for this claiming that it's our choice to not live in the house and the the only essential part of our beds is the mattress and that my family can put mattresses on the floor and sleep on the floor. As a military member I signed up to live in less then ideal conditions from time to time but my family did not and shouldn't have to sleep on the floor and be denied basic necessities of living due to the moving company's repeated mistakes. After much argument they agreed to have a repair company coming to look at the furniture and see what could be repaired and The refrigerator was moved into the home and most of the furniture was repaired on 25Feb22 allowing my family to move into the house finally. We still don't have our couches fixed 22 days later and have had to come out of pocket for a new set b Interstate attempted to settle this matter by sending us a check for $118 after we spent over 1500 on hotels and food due to their negligence, 2000 on replacement furniture, they broke a brand new television and other property costing my family over 5000 in total. read more

1 star is not good. Is there a rating for HORRIBLE, WARNING, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!? We had a horrible experience with a similar company when we moved 8 years ago and this one was just as bad. Watch out for all the hidden charges you won't find out about until they arrive to pick up your furniture. Their sales pitch sounds like a great deal and the estimate will make you think you have paid everything, or at least nearly everything. WRONG. That $8000 $10000 $12000 or whatever you paid down is just the beginning. That $12000 we paid in advance turned into over $24000. If you don't pay it they don't deliver it and hold everything you own hostage until you do. Then you have to pay the movers (CASH) to pick up your stuff and pay whoever delivers it, again cash. Then if you store anything like we had to, good luck getting it delivered when you want it! Not to mention the fact that you probably won't get everything that they originally picked up. I have been dealing with "A", my assigned Relocation Move Counselor, for about a month now. Now that my shipment has arrived to Virginia, my girlfriend and I have noticed we are missing several items, including a custom framed piece of artwork that is very sentimental to me. During the scheduling process of my move, "A" was very responsive. Now that there are CLEARLY issues, she has completely ignored my every attempt at reaching out. Funny how that works... Actual snippet of an email from "A" below: "I will be your main point of contact and available to address any issues or concerns that you may encounter during your move. I will stay in contact with you to ensure that everything is handled to your satisfaction." If you don't value your own belongings, I guess this company is for you. Unfortunately I did not have a choice. -------------------------------------------------------------- **Second review UPDATE 1.17.19** Interstate claimed that my multiple attempts of emails/calls "must not have gotten through..." They even claimed to have addressed the issue with I.T. ...yeah sure. Anyways, I ended up speaking with "S" from the claims department and guess what - they have denied my claim for my missing items. This included a $200 art print that I had a custom frame/matting built for, and my apple TV. If you have a choice, please avoid this crooked company at all costs. Update 3, January 2019: Here we are six months later, and we have finally received a check for some of our damages. We've spent countless hours cataloging damages, meeting estimators, and going back and forth with Interstate's claims department. Despite an estimated $5,000 in replacement and repair costs, we received a check for $700 and some change. We've had to take our dispute over one high-value item back to the military because Interstate's claims department said, "We don't have to pay that." They absolutely smashed, gouged, and destroyed beyond repair a custom made piece of furniture. The base is cracked and split. The top piece has several deep gouges in the wood, proving that this solid walnut furniture was tossed around and mistreated in a way I can't even imagine. Interstate has zero regard for the time and money they cost our service members during their moves, which is already a difficult life event. PCSing is part of the job. Service men and women and their families have no choice but to uproot their lives and move when told to do so; however, Interstate absolutely has a choice in how they treat the household goods of their customers and how they handle claims and incidents along the way. Stay away from this company! This has been the absolute worst moving company that I have ever worked with. They lied about the location of my goods. They damaged more items than all the other companies I have used in the past. They were not even close to their delivery date. Worst of all, they are refusing to reimburse me for all the damages and missing high value items. It has been a nightmare dealing with them and the amount of time that I have wasted on the phone and writing emails just to get an answer from them is absurd. This is one of those reviews where if I could give a negative star I would. I called and got quotes from several moving companies. Interstate seemed the lesser of the evils for 2 reasons, one of them being they could deliver in 4- 14 days from Florida to MN. Then they said 17 days and then 21 days and now they say legally they can take up to 30 days. It's still sitting in Miami and in the meantime my 86 year old mother is paying for an assisted living apartment that she can't live in without her furniture. Buyer beware. read more

If you look up this company on the Better Business Bureau you can clearly read the complaints and come to the conclusion that this company is a scam. Honestly it might even be fraud. All of the complaints are eerily similar and the responses from the business itself are obviously copied and pasted. They falsify 5 star reviews and aren't even smart enough to change the wording much. To make matters worse the people who work for and own this company are verbally abusive and harass their clients, they also hold their clients stuff for ransom and if you complain the threaten to sue. They quote one price and then the delivery people show up and ask for more, or else. We have also learned from the delivery driver that they do not provide enough workers (they expected him to unload a piano all alone without the correct equipment or another person) and are taking advantage of people who are working in the USA with a green card. It sounds like quite a horrible company. The company itself gets away with this because they can always claim they are "just the broker" and use that excuse but a good company would make sure that who they are using for deliveries is also a reputable company. This company is based out of Florida so it doesn't surprise me that they are grifters. My mother in law sadly decided to use this company and is now out over $6,000. We will be contacting the Attorney General in our state and we suggest that anyone who has been taken advantage of by them should do the same. read more

Since COVID-19 hit, we can no longer move out of state and they are keeping our $1,100 for doing NOTHING. Turned out once the semi truck arrived that a shuttle wasn't included and they wanted to charge us $300 in addition to the $1,700! We ended up having to get a uhaul, take our belonging out of the truck and bring it all into our apartment ourselves! (We paid for the delivery into our apartment!). When I started to investigate moving companies, I asked my friends who had recently moved this summer. This is the horror story I was shared regarding Interstate. This is a good friend who moved in July and STILL hasn't received all her items. "We were basically given an estimate at a particular weight. They came to pack and they said that they would need more boxes, so I would have to pay an additional fee. Then they came to load my stuff and it was under weight = less money. When the closing date changed, I called to check on cost to possibly change the delivery spread. They told me not to accept delivery on my closing date and to push it back to the 9th - 15th. Called to get delivery date and final cost for there was a storage fee of $2400! I was told there wouldn't be a cost to change the delivery spread. After 10 days of getting the run around they refused to reverse the $2400 charge. Not only that, my delivery would be delayed due to a mistake on their end! Not only will my stuff arrive aa week later than scheduled, it won't even be the entire shipment! I have to wait a week to get the remainder of items!" read more

Military move, worst one in 20 years. Many of our items were damaged or destroyed. One item in particular was not even delivered and is essentially irreplaceable because it had been hand painted. One of our German trunks was broken from too much weight on it and had a rat living in it. Unloading the truck was a nightmare. It arrived on the last possible day that was guaranteed, Dec 20. We had requested a much earlier date and the truck driver told us that he was called the day prior. The crew that the driver hired were possibly all on drugs. They reeked of marijuana and one was covered in boils that we assumed were from meth. His behavior was erratic and we were scared to say anything because he was in our new home. I scheduled a move from VA to California August 2021. Sales guy was nice enough and he suggested we delay the move to get a better rate, out of season. I was in no hurry, so the suggestion was appreciated. I was told Interstate would hold my items & let me know when the truck was leaving and on the way. I was notified in the evening Thursday that my truck would arrive Saturday morning. I was told be there to accept or pay more, no concern that I was given last minute notification- I had no idea the truck was on the way. The person I contacted at Interstate could careless and did nothing to work with me. On top of that, a priceless antique was damaged and it took four months for Interstate to find someone to repair it and that's after I called and emailed several times. No one seemed to care that my move was a mess and offered nothing to make up for a horrible experience. I will not use them again and would not suggest them to anyone. Horrible! I contacted my designated POC w/ Interstate about the inconvenience and lack of communication and she could have cared less, generic template apology email. She was more concerned with getting paid extra because the moving truck couldn't make it to my house. All of the 1 stars from so many people for so many years should tell you something. read more

We just did a summer move from Maryland to California. I am sorry to see all the low reviews because we had a very good, smooth experience with Interstate. From the very beginning to the last box, it was a great experience. Our driver Todd created great teams in MD and CA. They were professional, very hard working, friendly and conscience of my belongings. We were very happy with Interstate and I would wholeheartedly recommend them. Todd is out of Virginia if you are looking for good leadership, driving, hard working and dependable. He even slept one night in the truck by our home in MD to make sure all our stuff was safe and secure. Moving is stressful and Interstate really made it much less stressful. I will say that I packed 98% of my own belongings and only had a few fragile items packed or crated. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. That's a good move if you ask me. Thank you! read more

The services provided from this organization made my family's moving experience absolutely awful. I've had my load date changed/canceled several times last minute. If I could give them a ZERO, I would. Completely unprofessional. Terrible customer service, rude and ignorant. Moved our goods across multiple transport companies without any transparency that this would happen. They have no idea where the transit is physically at any point in time. Damaged goods on arrival. Two glass bed side tables are completely shattered! Claims are impossible and takes weeks, likely months for any possible recovery. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Our goods ended up being delivered Patriot Movers (who were also rude and unprofessional) and they demanded more money for our delivery on the day it arrived, wanted a blank check from the Post Office (with no name written it) and also refused to provide the Bill of Lading during the unloading process so that we could actually ensure all of our goods arrived. WTF???? These crooks are the WORST moving company I have ever dealt with....and we have moved alot! Avoid this organization....or you too, will be sorry!!! read more

We are a military family who moved from one base to another. Here's my issue, we are on day THREE of being told that our household good will be delivered today. The issue that the driver of the truck is having, is that the team of people who help unload the truck cannot get on base. This is due to a failed vetting process. Meaning, that the people who failed likely have a criminal background or a warrant for their arrest. Either way, it's none of my business. My business is that this company failed to make sure that they have people who CAN get on base. I don't understand why it's so difficult to coordinate people with a clear back ground for one delivery. Our driver can get on base and had been in contact with us more than our service coordinator. I keep getting the run around from customer service. I was told that our delivery could arrive Friday but the latest on Monday . It is now Wednesday afternoon. I can't imagine why the military contracted a company that doesn't have access to base when they have service members who reside on base. I would like to say that our driver has been great. He has been in contact with us through out the entire situation. I am in no way blaming him for this incident. read more

The level of incompetence I observed while trying to move with Interstate is almost indescribable. My jaw is on the ground. I can't believe their constant mishandling, or how flippant they are about their large, unacceptable mistakes. I am trying to relocate from DC to London, and was referred to Interstate by my husband's firm. Don became our point person, our supposed main contact. Upon reaching out 2 months prior to our move, he suggested we have a call a week later to discuss move details. Red flag #1: he or someone from his company should have called right away. During the call, we confirmed our desired move dates. I had questions about customs when our items would arrive. Red flag #2: He did not ask any inventory questions, and he could not answer questions about customs or (even approximately) when our items would arrive. 1 week after our call, Don emailed to say someone from Hildrup Moving would be contacting us to schedule a survey. I responded saying I'd rather not use Hildrup. They followed up saying we could use Interstate for the move, and we scheduled a survey for the following week. Red flag #3: Three weeks passed from initial contact to scheduling the survey. I received emails from 5 different representatives from various moving companies (Corrigan, Hildrup, Interstate) asking about our survey, and none of them could answer my questions. When the Interstate rep came for the survey, all went well and seemed pretty straight-forward. Red flag #4: the guy who came could only answer questions about the survey. While very nice, he knew nothing about timeframes, packing, or really anything outside of counting furniture and estimating its weight. Several days after the survey, I received an email from another Interstate representative. She assigned us a pack date for the following week and sent over paperwork. She also told us that it would take 4-6 weeks to process specific UK customs paperwork that had to be done before our items would be shipped out. Red flag #5: Why didn't anyone mention we needed to fill out the TOR (UK transfer of residency) paperwork before? We gave them a desired move date, and we were only told that it may fluctuate depending on weather. This added 4-6 weeks to our move, meaning we would be sleeping on the floor for at least 3 months on either coast. Major fail, Interstate. Red flag #6: We never consented to the pack date, and responded to the email saying it didn't work for us. They responded saying our items needed to be packed ASAP and would be in storage until our paperwork was approved by UK customs. There's no purpose for our things to be in storage for that long. I responded to them saying this was all unacceptable: the delay in sending paperwork, the mishandling of our time and move, and not consenting to the pack date. I received an "out of office" response. Red flag #7: 3 movers in a big Interstate truck came to my door this morning. Interesting. I specifically sent multiple emails to his representatives saying i do not want to pack today. When I called Don to tell him about his company's latest error, he not only did not apologize, he thanked me for my negative comments and argued with me saying he was indeed competent. Needless to say, I will be using another moving company. The lack of customer service, the inflated prices, the canned email responses with no specific answers to my questions, the terrible management (that's you, Don)... I wouldn't wish anyone use this company. read more

Already not starting out right. Military hired them, two days pack, lol yeah didn't show up today and no phone call. I called to ask what was going on, still no reply!!!! Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings..... read more
