The folks here really helped me out with getting a battery warranty'd after mine stopped working properly. I bought the battery through Napa who no longer carries/warrenties this brand of battery, which I why I came to this factory store to get it warrantied through them. They kept it overnight to charge it up all the way so it could be properly tested (as is protocol, if you check the company website they say the same thing) and held onto it until I could come a few days later to pick up a new battery. They had a staff member carry it out to my car too! I did call ahead of time to check and see the status of my battery, they let me know when the battery shipment was arriving with my new battery (later that afternoon) and were patient with me coming a few days later. They are very busy, but when calling there was only a minute or 2 of wait time and some checking in, but that's to be expected when dealing with a battery supplier store, they've got a lot of merchandise and customer batteries to deal with so there's a lot of things to look through. Since I called on separate days and they had to find/pull my battery out, so they took my info to know what they were looking for, and had me call 15 minutes later so I wasn't sitting on hold while they looked. The woman at the front was very nice, along with her husband, and the young gentleman who works in the front. All in all 5 stars across the board! Remember to be patient when dealing with human beings in your day to day, be clear with your communication and let them know when you're coming by for pick up when confirming that you're getting a new battery, they will take good care of you! read more

Ok, the Sears Auto store where I've purchased my Die Hard batteries for years closed so what's a man going to do? The prices at Kragens look ridiculous and the batteries iffy so I checked out Yelp and found Interstate. I know Interstate for their industrial batteries but decided to try them out for my minivan. The Monterey Highway area shop front isn't much and don't expect retail glitz in this part of San Jose - bare concrete, dusty furnishings and a modest service counter is about it - but if you're comfortable installing your own battery and returning the core you can walk out with a refurbished battery for well under $50. Compare that with around $150 at Kragens or Auto Zone. The real savings comes from going refurbished vs new although the sell both. I was a little concerned about not buying new but it's been over a month and my "new" battery is cranking fine each cold winter morning so I'm a happy customer. read more

I will never buy an interstate battery ever again. These reps wasted my time. I purchased the 6 year performance battery and it died less than 4 years. I had charged the battery a day before and brought it to an autozone to get it charged and tested prior to bringing it in. Autozone told me that it was a dead battery. I called the store on a Friday to see if my battery is still under warranty, since it's a 6 year performance battery and it died under 4 years. The rep told me, that they do warranty their batteries but I have to bring it in for them to check it out. I brought my battery and they told me that it would be covered under warranty, but here's the catch ... "only if they tested the battery and that process takes 10 hours and they don't do it on Fridays because they don't open on the weekends. Also, if your battery is defected.. it would cost 130 plus taxes for the warrantied battery... " Like WTF, you just literally wasted my time to drive to your location to tell me that... you could've advised me to come on Monday, also 130 plus taxes for a new battery?... That's almost the cost of a brand new battery. Never again, will i buy from Interstate. read more

This franchise does not stand by their car battery warranty. Had a battery die over a month ago and we could not find the receipt since we had purchased it one year ago but knew it was within their 18 month warranty guarantee. Called in and was told not to worry, they can look us up and see when we purchased the battery but first wanted us to drop it off so they can "test charge" it. We dropped it off and a couple days later they gave us the battery back and said it was holding a charge. This weekend the battery died on us again. We bring it back and get met with extreme attitude and a refusal to look up our purchase without a receipt... even though they had no problem looking it up for us a month ago. Apparently now the core is dead only one month later after telling us it was good to go. The battery is 15 months old after pulling up our credit card statement from August of last year and within their 18 month warranty. They could have looked us up and discovered that too but it is obvious this place only cares about getting your money and not standing by their word if something goes wrong. read more

Ok, so I started with this place and it would have been like five stars, but I bought a car battery used. I think that when you buy used, you get what you pay for. I accept that I may have dropped the ball when deciding to buy a used battery, but even still I got it and it died. In 4DAYS. I would not have minded this, but when I went to return this battery, the guy decided to plant dounbt in my mind about my car when in fact there was nothing wrong with my car, he just sold me a faulty product and wanted to protect his reputation. I think that this is a fine place to shop for discounted batteries, but when it comes to buying used, make sure you live close by, because odds are you will be returning it perhaps on a bus or in a shopping cart. read more

My wife went to Interstate (Phelan Road) for a replacement battery due to their reputation of being amongst the best. The purchase/install process was good. The problem has been battery durability. We bought the best 5-year warrantied product and got only 3 years out of it. And that's living here in San Jose, not New England. Sure they quoted us a pro-rated price on a replacement. But for that, I can go to O'Reilly's, which is much, much closer to where we live, get their best battery and presume a total cost/hassle experience that should be better than Interstate. Plus, the person helping me at this Interstate had to accept an interruption in mid call. So off to O'Reilly's I went. . . Sad to see a once impressive brand bite the dust. read more

Recently replaced two 12V-9A lead acid batteries for old Best Power UPS (uninterruptible power supplies) units. They had the batteries in stock, they were already charged, and I was able to test them to make sure the UPSes themselves were still working. As an added bonus, they took my old batteries to recycle!
